Another week and another episode. Today we talk to a producer out of the UK that makes experimental and chill Hip Hop flavored music. It is a great conversation with Tie Dye Beats!  

I had several interviews scheduled, and none of them showed up for the recording. I did not have a plan B, so we had no shows. In these situations a plan b is important, but in your career, plan b's are deadly. So let's talk about it. Also, new releases from my side project Souls Leak Liquid Silver and my label mate, Skidmatik!

In this episode, we have a great discussion with a young rapper based in New York named Nino Bederan, also known as the Submariner. 

We hit on so many topics and I have to say Nino impressed me a lot. If you are an independent artist there is a lot to unpack in this episode. Nino also has a new single coming out on January 22. So here we go!

For this year, do yourself a favor and make your creations. Te things that fire YOu up. Quit trying to fit into someone else's ideas or passions. Do You!

Nate Etheridge!   Well, not Nate specifically, but super fans. Those folks will help propel your career and will always be loyal. Nate is that type of fan.  Enjoy the show!  

Recently I was told someone thinks I should act my age. What they mean is conform to the way they think I should live my life. No way! We creatives are a quirky, odd bunch, and we are important in society. We should always hold our creativity sacred, especially when confronted by the “normal” world. A world without quirky creatives is a world without music, art, comics, movies, novels, and on and on. Don’t ever cave in to other's views on how you should live. Always be creative.  

Corporate media strikes again. Netflix started out as the answer to network silliness. Now it may be an even bigger part of the problem. They take our money but show no loyalty to subscribers.

This challenge is 20 days, five rules, and could make a huge difference in your life. I describe the challenge in this episode and I hope you join me in taking it on.

So things are getting weird here. SMG also know as Sony Media Group has filed a claim against 49 seconds of my 2017 single Star Stuff. This is the song I released just before Moogfest 2017. This is a song that I own all rights to, both publishing and writing. I was able to make an appeal, if you can call it that, and Sony has until July 1 to respond. Check out the whole tale up to this point in today’s episode. I will update as this goes on.

A couple of friends recently had trouble charging their iPhones, one even brought it to Apple and charged a lot. I have a hack that may help you if you have the same problem. Then, the Darkness! Not actual Darkness, but the band. I use them as an example of genre and how to produce music that is different from your current style.

I have three ideas, or ideals that I live my life by. I have developed the ideas over my 50 years. They are:

One of the worse things we as artists face is resistance, or obstacles, to creating our work. The crazy thing is as creatives we often manufacture our own resistance. Let's challenge each other to remove the resistance holding us back. Let me know how resistance has worked against you and any strategies you use to overcome these obstacles!

In this episode I talk about something that often gets in the way of creating. I know it is common in musicians and such, but I don't know about other creative types. I am talking about the need for more gear. That one piece of gear that will complete you, or even getting so much gear you start to suffer from choice fatigue. I also talk about not letting the influence of others force you to go into gear acquisition mode to the detriment of your work.  Leave me a message for future shows and we can revisit this topic.
