Education and its Role in Aspiring Athletes
This is Episode 27 of Beyond Top 10 Tennis and attention is given to the cyclical process of injuries and the role between peak performances and The Pathway and being derailed by injuries knocking players down to their 'previous' peak cycle. You'll hear Dr Berge get a little cranky (!) around juniors pressured to play-on with injuries and most substantially, how education forms the backbone to limiting these injuries and how a positive school/learning environment can improve performance. From challenging the player/athlete thinking to how The 7 Keys to Optimise Your Life rings true, the role of education is jam packed with take aways to head towards that Top 10 tennis ranking.

Performance Expectations: Where do You Stand?
This is Episode 7 of Beyond Top 10 Tennis dives head first into the notion of expectations and how too often this is lopsided and that adults "expect" certain behaviours from a "child" (to simplify), however when we look at the sporting environment, the "player/athlete" is entitled to have set expectations for the "coach" and too often this is not the case. Listen in close to consider if you've set the bar high enough as a player or if you have at all! For the coaches out there, is this a mutually conducive partnership whereby both have shared set expectations? And for the parent, have you talked with your child about these expectations and have they voiced their own, to you? If not, how can you nudge the dial to encourage them to have these discussions? If yes, what has the end result been? Questions to ponder as you tune in!

Welcome back to another episode of Beyond Top 10 Tennis. Today's episode looks at Talent Identification (ID) and the misconceptions that surround these systems and/or programs. To follow along, we're beginning on p.39 of "The Secrets to Optimal Performance Success".
Tell us your thoughts around Talent ID and your experience? Have you been a part of a program and if so, what was your experience? Or, if not, why were you not a part of the program and how did it make you feel? We'd love to know your thoughts to experiences in this area, whether in tennis or another sport!

One includes needing to wait up to 24hrs for access, the other is to sign in 'twice' to enter. They are just simple little hacks to prevent the many bots that keep trying to get in! Like everything, it's also a work in progress. But, you're in control of your data, always.

Hiring and Firing Your Coach
Today's episode is centred around "The Secrets to Optimal Performance Success" and the discussion around Hiring and Firing Your Coach. It's an incredibly controversial and yet necessary topic to touch on and to delve a little deeper into. It's also a candid window into the role of education and the varying roles that different levels or skillsets play in an athlete and/or player's career.
A side note, please keep in mind that this is Episode 2 of Beyond Top 10 Tennis and we're still learning the right 'fit' to get the sound quality right. As promised in Episode 1, this will be a continued work in progress! In the meantime, thank you and any comments and feedback is incredible welcome.

Welcome & the Coach-Parent Relationship
The Coach-Parent Relationship and its Link to Performance Success from Chapter 1 of "The Secrets to Optimal Performance Success" is discussed openly with some key insights on the role, how best to manage for the player and/or athlete along with advice on taking the next step towards that Top 10 endpoint. An introductory discussion with extracts from this Chapter, an initial look at this dynamic begins to conversation around the role of this relationship and also how it is reflected in our day to day lives and what we can take away and apply on court and/or the field to move closer towards our primary objective.
On another note, this is our very first episode! Please hold down the fort with us as we nudge a few dials and find the right rhythm to sound breaks and we'll get even better at it as we move along. Comments to contributions are always welcome!
