Welcome to Dr. Scott’s Health and Wellness Corner! Our guest is Dr. Michael Bivins, a certified health coach and autoimmune holistic nutrition coach. He also holds a certificate in plant-based nutrition from Cornell University’s Dr. T. Colin Campbell's Center for Nutrition Studies. Dr. Bivins is also the founder of Pride & Strive Inc., which serves as a youth development program. We discuss issues related to nutrition, cholesterol, autoimmune diseases, and the relationship between health, diet, and plant-based nutrition. We also touch upon Dr. Bivin’s personal experiences with high cholesterol, multiple sclerosis in his family, and how knowledge and changes in diet led to improved health outcomes.

The Black Athlete, Mental Health and Performance
In light of the media storm around Naomi Osaka withdrawing from tennis competitions, issues around the Black athlete and mental health are discussed. Dr. Scott touches upon historical aspects of athletes and social justice protests, the unique challenges that Black athletes may face; especially at elite competitive levels, and the relationship between mental health and sport performance. High profile athletes like Simone Biles, Serena Williams, and Flo Jo are discussed in relation to racism and sexism in sport, as well as the relationship between athletic and racial identity.

The Impact of COVID-19 on the Return to School, Sport, and Beyond

(Please Educate All Children Equally). In this episode, Dr. Scott and Brother Warren discuss the impact of COVID-19 on the return to school as well as its impact on sports.
