THE REAL IMPERFECTIONISM W THE REAL ALAIA
Beautiful Mutants are a uniquely moderne subspecies of homo sapiens. We are the inevitable result of a mechanistic cultural climate and our Space Cast is BACK for a third season of audio cut ups and Media Magick. Imperfectionism is an art movement founded by Alaia Parhizi in 2014 which embraces the accidental nature of artistic creation and incorporates apparent mishaps into the art. Imperfectionism defines a method of self knowing through the arts, where intuitive decision making, raw expressive impulses, and imaginative self discovery are the foundational tools. We talk to Alaia about his movement in this edition of the show. A link to Alaia's Los Angeles gallery, WonZimer, which he runs with director Aiden Nelson, is below. The episode begins with a not so subtle sound spell, or audio sigil, if you prefer. Altar Everything!

Betty Benedeadly is a Desert-roaming one-woman-band from from Austin TX creating ritualistic invocational desert music. Technology is the placenta feeding the fetus dreams. Additionally, this show includes a very important service announcement from the Dyslexic Salon of Discordian Personalities reminding us that the Internet Speaks to us in our own Voice. The episode opens with my newest song Skin Like Moonlight, a demo // sketch of a tune regarding grief. Katherine's work can be found at the link below. If you enjoy the show please consider taking a tour of our offers on Patreon. Old love, as ever.
Imperfectionism and the Other Than Human with Walt Curtis
It's 2021. I've built a ceremonial mask of broken iPhones and am limping back to the podcast party. Today's Beautiful Mutant is my street poet mentor, Walt Curtis. Walt epitomizes bohemian living. He is best known as the author of Mala Noche, the novella that became Gus Van Sant's first film. His other writing includes Rhymes for Alice Bluelight, Medusa's Love, Angel Pussy and awesome the early 1960's Proto-zine The Mad Bombers Notebook. Curtis is the subject of the ecological art film Salmon Poet, made by Sabrina Guitart and the late lovely, James Honzik. As someone six months shy of being an octogenarian, Walt's perspective on art and life are totally uninfluenced by the toxicities of the internet. A refreshing perspective to be sure. Talk with your elders. They have wonderful things to say.
The Beginning is Near with Jonah Emerson Bell
Welcome to the Great Mutation! Everything in our entire lives has led us to this instant. The most momentous astrological event of our lifetime is here. Astrologer, Tarologist, Hypnotist, and Recovery Coach, Jonah Emerson Bell comes onto the show to tell us all about it. Jonah and I wax about the odyssey that led him to realizing his ambition of being a self employed Wizard living in a desert ghost town. We rap about what psychic and material shifts to expect going into this revolutionary 200 year shift of consciousness. We share a few magical techniques we've found helpful to remind us that we are all sparks of divinity. This is a doozy of a conversation! I know you'll love it. Jonah's readings and offerings as well as my music for this episode can be heard at the link below. Do not pray for an easy life. Pray for the strength to endure a difficult one. L-ov-E
Writing Ourselves Into the Story with Chris Lawson
Chris and I share a fun, silly and fantastic conversation about his early run ins with the great writer, James Baldwin, How his Bywater home was the first location of a documented boxing match in the United States, the potentials for benevolently programed Artificial Intelligence, and, for the Yule Tide inclined, Christmas Shrimp! I love podcasting! This episode of The BMS is a prime example why. Dig!!!
Music for this episode provided by myself and 29 Motels, Chris's collaboration with musician, Joe Petterson. All the occult secrets of life linked below.
Intimacy with Void starring Antero Alli
Antero Alli is a sorcerer of underground cinema, music, paratheatre, and poetry. His many films include Under A shipwrecked Moon, The Mind is A Liar and a Whore, and 2020's The Vanishing Field. He is the author of nine books as well as the instructor of two online courses, Astrologik and The 8 Circuit Brain. Alli's most recent book, State of Emergence, explores his decades long investigations as director of ParaTheatrical ReSearch, a ritual technology for gaining access to stored bodily emotions through movement, vocalization, and action . We lovingly bullshit our way through a conversation about "The Resurgence of the Poetic Imagination," Antero's mission statement for his work. His wondrous mountain of creations can be found at his website Vertical Pool, linked below. Music for this episode made by me. The closing song, Death is a Question Mark can be purchased as an individual track at the Bandcamp link. Lastly, DIG MY NEW PATREON PAGE!!!! There's a ton of fun treasure on there. Also linked below. Saving the Soul of the World By Telling Better Stories
Next to silence, stories are the most divine form of communication. Stories are alive. Stories are holy. Stories bring to life all the triumphs and tragedies imagination and experience can summon to the mind. This weeks episode is a solo spacecast about telling stories that are right for the current moment. Let us write the world we want to live in and then live there. Let us write ourselves into our own stories so that other forces don't do it for us. All the music heard on this weeks show can be downloaded as individual tracks at my Bandcamp page.
Through L-ov-E all P-ai-N will turn into Medicine.
