A League of Extraordinary Mothers Podcast | Series 2 Ep. 1 Prof. Tim Noakes
And so, the journey begins!!!! Our first interview is with a man who spent 4 years in court fighting for the right to share knowledge with you that is going to BUST THROUGH the dietary guidelines that we all grew up with and give you a whole new starting point. AND HE WON!!!! I cannot begin to put into words the buzz and excitement I felt after winding up this interview. The honour of speaking to someone with the years of accumulated knowledge that Professor Noakes has packed into his fabulous brain left me reeling. I LOVE LOVE LOVED this interview and am so thrilled to share it with you today. Prof. Tim Noakes is a truly gorgeous and gracious human (think the David Attenborough of the food and fitness world!) and once he starts to speak you can’t help but listen. Enjoy!

A League of Extraordinary Mothers Podcast | Ep. 18 Elizabeth Erin
In today’s interview with Erin Elizabeth, we start off with a brand-new topic which for many is unheard of. It is a disorder that affects many people, however, it is often hidden away with shame and misunderstanding. Erin’s personal experience with Trichotillomania makes her the perfect person to shed some light on this discussion. As we progress in the interview I asked Erin to give us her thoughts on some of the broader topics we have covered throughout this series, things like dealing with stress, nutrition, exercise etc., and I was delighted to hear her give a very different take on a few of these subjects. If you haven’t met Erin I will be thrilled to introduce you to her. Erin has been working hard to bring us the latest in news on the healing arts and its surrounding topics for over 25 years and her latest platform, Health Nut News, being only about 4 years old, has already cracked the top 20 natural health sites worldwide with over half a million dedicated followers.

A League of Extraordinary Mothers Podcast | Ep. 17 Connie Sobczak
Connie Sobczak is on a mission to help women and young girls have a positive body image and yes, once again, here is yet another expert who is driving home the message that we need to lead the way. We must role model how we want our girls to feel and speak about their own bodies, and as Connie so eloquently says, we need to shut the BLEEP up when it comes to negatively commenting on not only our own bodies but theirs as well. Connie Sobczak is a mentor, writer, educator, and award-winning video producer. Her experience with an eating disorder in her teen years and the death of her sister Stephanie inspired her life’s work to create a world where all people are free to love their bodies. In 1996, Connie brought her vision to life when she created The Body Positive with Elizabeth Scott, LCSW. Connie is the author of Embody: Learning to Love Your Unique Body (and quiet that critical voice!), a book in which she brings the Be Body Positive Model to life, and skilfully and lovingly reconnects readers to their authenticity and beauty. She is a leader of the movement to prevent eating problems and improve the self-image of youth and adults through her writing, workshops, videos, leadership programs, and speaking engagements.

A League of Extraordinary Mothers Podcast | Ep. 16 Jodie Nolan
Finances for Teens - what they need to know now, to give them a solid financial future. I know no one better to speak about this than Jodie Nolan who is on a mission to teach people about money, the core fundamentals that should be taught in our schools, but still aren't. Excitingly she is making a real difference, not only in adult financial education, but more importantly for our next generation, to give them the best financial start possible. Jodie is a mother of two, author and financial advisor with over 15 years of experience. Having lost millions in Australia's largest financial collapse, she has learnt to rebuild her wealth and is empowering others with knowledge about smart money management. I loved this interview and feel this subject is non-negotiable when considering the empowerment of our teenage girls.

A League of Extraordinary Mothers Podcast | Ep. 15 Kristen Jenson
I can remember being in primary school finding a quiet corner in our school library, with my girlfriends, giggling away over a book called ‘Where did I come from”. From memory, it was a wonderfully gentle introduction to sex and all those fascinating girly bits and intriguing dangly boy bits. Sheesh, how times have changed. Now we have a generation of precious little people cautiously typing in the word sex, out of perfectly normal curiosity, only to be confronted with some truly confronting images. And we have a generation of teenagers who have a pretty darned skewed idea of what caring consensual sex is supposed to look like. The exposure to pornography and the very damaging consequences that are immerging from that is something that we have no choice but to face. Today's interview is with Kristen Jenson who through a truly heartbreaking conversation with a friend, which she will share with you today, has been on a mission to help us mums try and navigate this tricky territory with a little more ease. Kristen is the founder of ProtectYoungMinds.org, a website dedicated to helping parents empower their kids to resist and reject pornography. Kristen is a popular guest on radio and TV broadcasts as well as podcasts and webinars. She is a leader in the Safeguard Alliance of the National Coalition to End Sexual Exploitation and has testified before the Washington State Senate Law and Justice Committee on the public health crisis of pornography. Kristen continues to be a strong voice for protecting children from all forms of sexual exploitation.

A League of Extraordinary Mothers Podcast | Ep. 14 Robyn Treyvaud
Today’s interview is with Robyn Treyvaud who is an internationally recognised expert in online safety and digital citizenship. As the Founder of Cyber Safe Kids, Robyn established a global organisation and network that assisted educators, schools, and local communities in understanding and overcoming the challenges of the digital world. She is now the Head of Education at Wangle Family Insites, an Australian-founded cyber safety platform designed for children, young adults, and most importantly, families. I found Robyn’s guidance during this interview invaluable. Her background as a teacher and later, Head of Junior School at Wesley College and acting head of Junior School at Ruyton Girls’ School has given Robyn a unique overview of what is truly going on with our girls both personally and on a larger scale. I hope you feel a little more empowered with some practical steps that will help keep your precious daughter a little safer on the world wide web!

A League of Extraordinary Mothers Podcast | Ep. 13 Colleen O'grady
Colleen O’Grady has not only been a successful psychotherapist and life coach for twenty-five years; she has also been a mum in the trenches with her own teenage daughter. Colleen started writing a book titled Dial Down the Drama when her daughter was fifteen and completed the manuscript when she was nineteen. Though at times she felt a little crazy for writing this book while she was living the book, it was the perfect way to test her ideas and find out that the principles really do work! In today’s interview, Colleen O’Grady is going to be giving you full permission to take amazing care of yourself! It is not selfish, it is not indulgent, it is simply remodeling exactly the behaviour that you want your daughter to emulate. There are so many golden nuggets of information in this interview and as a mum, with teenage girls, I was thrilled to get a little guidance on dialing down the drama, both for myself … lol … and for my girls. Enjoy!

A League of Extraordinary Mothers Podcast | Ep. 12 Jennifer Barham Floreani
Dr Jennifer Barham-Floreani, amongst other things, talks to us about our ingrained sickness beliefs, being that our bad health is determined by one of three things, bad germs, bad luck or bad genes. As part of your journey to becoming more empowered to take back control of your health, I am excited for you to learn that you have far more control over your health than this disempowering, antiquated way of thinking would ever allow you to have. In this interview Dr Jen is going to take a moment to clarify the role that chiropractic could play in your life or the life of your daughter, she will give you a wonderful big picture view of physical and emotional health care and, despite it’s apparent appeal, why the quick fix is not necessarily the best path to take. In addition, we have a conversation about the role that guilt plays in parenting and how this can lead an overindulgence of our girls that is not going to serve them well. As a mum who was a single parent to four children for many years, I have been guilty of overindulging my kids on many occasions as a way to make up for the guilt I had around my kids growing up in a single parent household, however, I can see now where I could have served them better by being a little tougher, but hey, we are all learning as we go! There are so many wonderful takeaways in this interview, I hope you love it as much as I do.

A League of Extraordinary Mothers Podcast | Ep. 11 Asleigh Bond
Women’s Wellness co-host Dr Ashleigh Bond says that ‘growing healthy kids is the greatest legacy we can leave’. This reminds me of another quote, by the former first lady, that has stuck with me on my journey as a mum: "If you bungle raising your children, I don't think whatever else you do matters very much." - Jackie Kennedy Sheesh, no pressure! Well, who am I kidding, of course, there is pressure, mountains of it! However, I don’t believe we were ever meant to do this job alone, we are supposed to be part of a community that holds each other up. To keep the momentum going today we are going to tap into the hard-earned wisdom of Dr Ashleigh and hear about her journey as a teenager and the damage that was caused to her health through poor dietary guidance and the OCP. However, like so many of our speakers it was because of ill health that she was inspired to become empowered and today she will share her journey to wellness and the tools she used, and now teaches, with you.

A League of Extraordinary Mothers Podcast | Ep. 10 Heather Bartos
Dr Heather Bartos is a PHYSICIAN, MINDSHIFT HEALTH EXPERT, SPEAKER, AUTHOR, MOM, and an EVERYDAY TEXAN GAL whose passion is to challenge you to get to the truth. To learn how to honour your body, mind, and soul so that you can take control of your health. That does not mean all your problems disappear by doing hot yoga 3 times a week or doing daily juice shots. Instead, her goal is to shift your mindset – to shift how you approach your health so that You. Are. Literally. Owning. It.
If you’re ready for the next step in your health journey you are going to want to tune in to this interview!!!

A League of Extraordinary Mothers Podcast | Ep. 9 Zen Honeycutt
There is no question that we have made incredible advances in the world of medicine and our understanding of the human body and its workings is phenomenal, most of us have access to more food than ever before in history, we understand sanitation and have access to health care, be it alternative, mainstream, or whatever else you choose.
So, why the heck then, are we seeing soaring numbers of people SUFFERING from physical and mental health challenges … One in five girls on antianxiety drugs, 8 in 10 children leaving school overweight or obese by 2020, autism rates up to 1 in 59 children, autoimmune diseases climbing at unprecedented rates, 240 people diagnosed with diabetes every day in Australia …. etc. etc. etc.
With the purpose of this summit being to empower mums to empower their girls, with skills to take control of their own health and happiness, I have endeavoured to uncover some possible causes and certainly, many of our speakers so far have touched on different causative factors.
There are, without question, many pieces to this puzzle, however, today’s speaker has dedicated her life to digging a little deeper to find some answers.
Zen Honeycutt is the founder of Mom’s Across America and is one gutsy lady, I would even call her our modern-day Erin Brockovich, as she has had the courage to truly step up and speak out against some pretty powerful giants, taking on some of the biggest companies in the world and demanding that they give answers.
I don’t doubt that this conversation is going to push a few buttons, however, I ask you to take a breath and try not to be overwhelmed but rather see it as empowering, you now have more information which allows you ask your own question, perhaps do a little more research yourself and then feel empowered to make informed decisions. We as mums have the ultimate power to shape what foods etc. are made available to us, it is our almighty dollar and where and what we choose to spend it on that dictates what produces are providing. Together we can change the world!

A League of Extraordinary Mothers Podcast | Ep. 8 Jo Whitton
Squeak!! So excited!!! Today’s interview is with the incredibly inspiring, courageous, and delightful Jo Whitton and if you think I am gushing, well, I am! Hehe. Jo’s first cookbook is without question the most used cookbook I have ever owned. I have loved and admired Jo's work for a long time and so to have the opportunity to have her to myself for a whole hour was such an honour and now I get to share that conversation, and her wisdom, with you! In this interview, you will hear Jo’s journey with her own health struggles and the incredibly heartbreaking, yet inspiring, story of her precious son Isaac and his journey with using food to overcome a traumatic life-altering health challenge. This interview is chock full of incredibly empowering information and if you are interested in the power of food to not only nourish but to heal, you will not want to miss this! A League of Extraordinary Mothers Podcast | Ep. 7 Steph Lowe
Today’s interview is with The Natural Nutritionist, Steph Lowe. In our interview, I ask her to bust wide open a few of the strongly held myths around nutrition that have not only continued to cause confusion for many but have also played a role in the rapidly escalating poor health we are currently witnessing across the western world.
There is SO MUCH confusion around the seemingly simple everyday act of nourishing our bodies and so I am very grateful to Steph who does a wonderful job in helping to ensure you walk away from this interview feeling a little more empowered to make confident decisions around food choices.

Today's interview is with the supremely gorgeous Kim Morrison. Kim’s ability to make me feel like I too can be a glowing example of loving delicious womanhood is uncanny. I have heard her speak many times and she never fails to inspire me to work on loving myself just a little more. Now I know, the whole idea of loving ourselves can elicit a well-coordinated eye roll and groan (and where did our daughters get that from??? Hehe)! However, the very act of taking the time for self-care and taking the time to be thankful for this incredible body that allows us to live on this planet today, role-models for our girls some very powerful habits. If we can teach our girls that they are worthy of love and care exactly as they are, right now, then surely that will set them up to not only lovingly care for themselves but to expect as much from those that they bring into their lives.
