Black Liberation + Chichi Agorom + Black Girl Magic
Black Liberation + Chichi Agorom + Black Girl Magic
It’s the season finale of Enneagram for the Culture and we have a very special one for our listeners this week. Kimberly Reese & Camille Logan, black therapists hailing out of the Carolinas, sit down with Author and Enneagram constituent Chichi Agorom. Chichi brings a plethora of knowledge about enneagram practices, and she references them in her book The Enneagram for Black Liberation. After discussing how the Enneagram was present in their lives, Chichi proceeded to give a short breakdown of her book (8:40). Following that, Camille beseeches Chichi to explain her enneagram origin story (10:45) and how she got started in the practice; Chichi explains that she was hesitant at first. Later, we learn about vulnerability and how Chichi examines it in her publication, as Camille reads a quote (17:15). Quickly following that, our guest explains when she realized that race was underrepresented in the Enneagram (18:14). As the conversations move forward, Chichi shares how she came to learn about different countries being associated with specific Enneagram types (33:30). Nearing the end, our guest shares some ways that black people can engage with the Enneagram to uplift themselves (45:30). This was an incredibly helpful and knowledge-packed finale that we hope will unlock our listeners' desires to learn more about the Enneagram! Thank you for a wonderful season and thank you for listening.

Episode 11: Enneagram 7 + Never Too Much
Episode 11: Enneagram 7 + Never Too Much
It’s 7th heaven on episode 11 of Enneagram for the Culture with hosts Kimberly Reese Sherman & Camille Logan, black therapists hailing out of North Carolina. This is a special episode as we explore the 7-personality type: Camille’s type. Early in the episode we learn that Camille is a frequent flier and Kim loves keyboards, as our hosts discuss how the Enneagram was present in their lives. Soon after, Kim gives us a short overview of 7’s (16:05). Type 7’s move to arrows 1 & 5 (18:37) where they can place limitations on themselves, but also make time to relax. Later, Camille touches on wings 6 & 8 (22:00) and how those affect the behavior of 7’s. The fear of missing out is a concept that plagues many people, but it seems to be a pain point for 7’s, as our hosts discuss some anecdotes surrounding the type (28:54). As they have no connection to the heart triad, there are a lot of misconceptions surrounding 7’s (43:30) and Camille explains how they can be uncomfortable. Following that, we enter the conversation of being a black type 7 (58:00) and how they can feel heavily judged by their community for not overvaluing work or buying into “hustle” culture. But, among other things, 7’s bring a great spirit of celebration to the black experience (1:15:55), as joyfully explained by Camille. The season finale is coming soon but we hope you enjoy this episode and feel well represented if you’re a 7. Thank you for listening.

Episode 10: Enneagram 6 + Take Care
Episode 10: Enneagram 6 + Take Care
It’s time for 6s on the circle of Enneagram for the Culture. Kimberly Reese Sherman & Camille Logan, black therapists hailing out of North Carolina, lean into the 6 personality type on episode 10. As the ladies discuss how the Enneagram was active in their lives, Kim shares some sad news. Then starting with an overview (8:19) Kim gives a synopsis on 6s and how they fit in the head triad. Behind that, we swing into arrows 3 & 9, as explained by Kim (15:00). The 6 personality type falls between wings 5 and 7 (16:27), where they can feel calmer about various situations when leaning to the 5 and they can be more spontaneous when leaning towards the 7. One of the misconceptions of 6s is that they’re prone to anxiety, and that’s not necessarily the case, as explained by Camille (25:18). As the show rolls on we get into a very extensive talk about being Black and being a 6 (29:25). Further in the episode we discuss the unique idea of double consciousness (34:22) and how Black people must be aware of how their actions look to others. Near the end our hosts try to give some helpful ways to grow as a 6 (53:25). There was a lot of great information to be had in this episode and it hit a point of poignancy about culture. We hope you enjoy it, and thank you for listening.

Episode 9: Enneagram 5 + Solid
Episode 9: Enneagram 5 + Solid
High 5’s all around for episode 9 of Enneagram for the Culture. Kimberly Reese Sherman and Camille Logan, Black therapists hailing out of the North Carolina, get into the head triad and talk about the intellectually driven 5 personality type. After opening with how the Enneagram showed up for the hosts, we jump into the thinking minds of 5’s (15:13). Following that, Kim gives us a breakdown of their arrow connections; 7 and 8 (20:22) where 5’s can respond more like a 7 when in distressing situations and lean towards the 8 type when they’re trying to progress and grow. At around minute (25:22) we fly into wings 4 and 6 and examine the situations that allow 5’s to fall to either one, as told by Camille. Later we examine how and why 5’s tend to retreat to their minds and leave reality behind when Camille tells a short anecdote about her friend (29:00). Also, like other personality types, 5’s can be mislabeled and misunderstood because people often have misconceptions, which are expertly explained by Kim (36:24). Nearing the end, we learn that being black and being a 5 can lead to having a scarcity mindset and falsely believing that there aren’t enough resources to go around (40:00). We hope that this was a stimulating conversation for our 5 friends and an accurate representation of who they are, or who they can be. Indulge, and thank you for listening!

Episode 8: Enneagram 4 + Good Vibes
We have some great content 4 you on episode 8 of Enneagram for the Culture. Our hosts Kimberly Reese Sherman & Camille Logan, black therapists hailing out of the Carolinas, tap into their softer side to talk about the individualist; Enneagram type 4. While discussing how the Enneagram was present in their lives, we learn that Camille had the greatest theater experience of all time and Kim tries to find which ‘Girlfriend’ character she identifies with. Following that conversation, we get into 4’s, starting with Kim’s overview (24:15), and leading into arrows 1 & 2 (27:26). Closely after that we fly into wings 3 & 5 (29:26), where 4’s can become more pragmatic and objective. Though a bit difficult, our hosts managed to find some lighthearted narratives around 4’s (36:56), like the comparisons to a slightly happier Eeyore. Before getting into some misconceptions (43:44), Kim and Camille touch on how emotion and romance are increasingly prevalent in the 4 personalities (42:01). Later, we discuss race and how feelings and emotions aren’t widely discussed or expressed in the black community (47:34) and it can have an adverse effect on 4’s. We talked about the latter and much more in our longest episode of the season, and arguably our most emotional. But it’s all in the name of the Enneagram! We hope you enjoy it. This episode hits a little closer to home as Kim is a 3 and she shares her insight after Camille gives us an overview (14:50). Episode 6: Enneagram 2 + Real Love
We’re talking about 2’s on episode 6 of Enneagram for the Culture. Our hosts Kimberly Reese Sherman & Camille Logan, black therapists hailing out of North Carolinas, discuss the ins and outs of the type 2 personality, some misconceptions surrounding it, and how it relates to race and Black culture. After learning that Camille is a suitcase guru and Kim’s sweatshirt game is unmatched, we tap into the heart triad with 2’s; Camille gives an overview (9:26). Following the overview, Kim gets into the access points of 2’s (17:50), pointing out the positive and negative effects of each point. Later, Camille touches on wings 1 & 3, and how the 2 taps into their energy for different personal outcomes (27:00). Moving into the misconceptions (34:05) Camille starts us off by pointing out how some physical actions of 2’s can really be translated to the way they want emotional support, and Kim follows up with how her mother fits into the mix as a self-preservation 2. Because of the caring and humble nature of 2’s, it leads people to over focus on women in the space and somewhat alienate males, as Camille describes in the cultural half of the podcast (42:00). They discuss the "Mammy stereotype" and how 2's, especially Black female 2's, can slip into an unfair caretaking role without boundaries (44:45). Our hosts had excellent discussions on this episode, and we hope you enjoy it. Thank you for listening!
