El Abuelo de los Sombras
The author of the letter feels pressure by increasing tempertures and a failing swamp cooler to get out of town. The town temporarily alleviates her illness but creeping remnants of the city compel them further up the mountain where they find a creature who disappears to an unknown place.

Seven Rivers
Reyes discovers a letter written by Molly to her sister Catherine. After moving to New Mexico Territory in hopes of improving her husband's health, Molly is almost swept away when meek 7 rivers is flooded with blood. She fears it's a bad omen.
