Which One Do You Promote?

Which One Do You Promote?

Which One Do You Promote? - Episode #4

Summary of the episode: During this discussion, Brandon and Timothy review chapters 7 – 9 of the book, “Loving Your Muslim Neighbor.” This discussion asked the question, “Which one do you promote?” This question simply asks, do you promote Christ of the Bible or do we promote a so-called Christianity that fits our ideals? If you were to approach a bridge on a stormy night and you were able to stop because saw the bridge had collapsed, would you not thank God for saving your life? Would you not want to attempt to save others heading in your direction?

Jesus himself made such a grandiose statement about himself that he is the way, the truth, and the life and absolutely no one can go to the Father except through Him. Jesus is the bridge to life. His life death and resurrection seal that statement. Tune into this discussion with Brandon and Timothy!

What Cost?

What Cost?

What Cost? - Episode #3

Summary of the episode: During this discussion, Brandon and Timothy review chapters 4 – 6 of the book, “Loving Your Muslim Neighbor.” Brandon starts off the discussion by asking the question, ‘what does it mean to be missional?’ Timothy expresses that we should be looking for opportunities to share the gospel. We should be loving that person that does not look like us. Timothy brings up an interesting idea that simply says to be missional is to have that great commission mindset.

At what cost do we share the gospel with Muslim people? At what cost do we risk it all for the sake of the gospel? This discussion answers the questions that often come to mind when seeking to serve those of the Muslim faith. Tune into this discussion with Brandon and Timothy!

Why Share the Gospel?

Why Share the Gospel?

Why Share the Gospel? - Episode #2

Summary of the episode: During this discussion, Brandon and Timothy review the first three chapters of his book, Loving Your Muslim Neighbor. Brandon questions Timothy on the importance of sharing the gospel with Muslim people and how the Bible calls us to go to the ends of the earth. They both discuss what people think when they hear the word Muslim and what they associate the word with in terms of history.

When Jesus hears the word “Muslim,” the first thing that comes to his mind is love. If we are professing Christians, we too are to love Muslims when we hear about them and see them in person. This discussion is the bedrock for this entire season. Tune into this discussion with Brandon and Timothy!

Christmas is here! We celebrated the coming of Christ and his love for us (John 3:16 - 17). This is a joyful time. This weary world rejoices!

Keeping Your Faith: Amid Hatred and Division

Keeping Your Faith: Amid Hatred and Division

When black people put down black conservatives, it does not help us a people and it weakens us as unit. This seems to be what the government wants from us. Let’s hold fast to our faith and think with the brain God gave each of us. We are made in the Imago Dei – the Image of God! Join Pam and I as we talk about our faith amid hatred and division from our own community!

If It Had Not Been For the Lord...Psalm 124

If It Had Not Been For the Lord...Psalm 124

First Presbyterian Church Online (August 2, 2020)

This sermon by Rev. Bill Crawford simply reminds us that the Lord for us, He love is and He died for us! I hope this message powers you through this week and that you can feel the Lord's presence.

Our Help Is in the Name of the Lord

A Song of Ascents. Of David.

124 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side—
let Israel now say—
2 if it had not been the Lord who was on our side
when people rose up against us,
3 then they would have swallowed us up alive,
when their anger was kindled against us;
4 then the flood would have swept us away,
the torrent would have gone over us;
5 then over us would have gone
the raging waters.

6 Blessed be the Lord,
who has not given us
as prey to their teeth!
7 We have escaped like a bird
from the snare of the fowlers;
the snare is broken,
and we have escaped!

8 Our help is in the name of the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.

Love not Hate, and the Meaning of Words

Love not Hate, and the Meaning of Words

This episode is a discussion on which lives matter and what does it mean to the Christian body of believers. Although this episode is opinionated beliefs, it still follows the Christian teachings based on biblical ideology and principals that have worked or centuries.

#blacklivesmatter can be a group that just as guilty as perpetuating just at the KKK. We must learn to live amongst one another without using #adjectives to describe who or what we look like on the outside. As a reminder, my pastor once said "The man on the cross is better than the person in the mirror, always." When we learn to sit at the table with Judas, we will learn the love of Jesus Christ.

This country has its faults, two black eyes and a busted lip, but the healing begins when we all learn to love one another, and forgive their sins. We are all sinners and we all fall short of God's glory and we are all in need of a savior.

To my Christian brothers and sisters of a darker hue, please receive this message/discussion as way to orient you to a Christian thinking. I personally believe that BLM does not have the interest of all BLACK people at the front of their agenda. Don't you forget that Satan and hide behind an organization that appears to be good, however, it is pure evil manifested.

Luke Negron and I met on TicTok. Together the Pennsylvanian and Louisianan come up with this discussion as two different people, of two different ethos and of two different cultures. The one thing they have in common is the Love of Jesus Christ. Thats right, they are both Christians.

Psalm 123 with Rev Bill Crawford

Psalm 123 with Rev Bill Crawford

This sermon touches on what Psalm 123 means to the Christian and how it is relevant in your lives today. Pastor Bill Crawford reminds us that "the justice of God has been served by his Son" Jesus Christ. We often get caught up in what injustices are committed and not so much on the justice that is served. Pastor Bill Crawford reminds us that "Jesus is the radiance of the Glory of God" and hour radiance is embedded in Christ Jesus.

We have to remember that "the man on the cross is better than the man in the mirror, always." I pray this sermon finds you well and helps you understand God.

Pilgrim’s Progress

Topical Memory System

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did eer such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

His dying crimson, like a robe,
Spreads oer His body on the tree;
Then I am dead to all the globe,
And all the globe is dead to me.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

You must remember that you are loved by your family and friends and you matter to them. This season has been filled with content to help and encourage you. However, I leave you with hope. Hope in God and hope in our lives, for God knows our every struggle and with us as we walk that journey.

In fact, what we need to understand is that pray for our non-Christian friends, is one of the primary ways that God has given us love our knowledge to show them that love and to help them see that God loves them as well.

The Beauty of the Local Church through Diversity with Tim Russell S2 Ep14 (Part 2)

Season 2 Episode 14 - The Beauty of the Local Church through Diversity with Tim Russell (Part 2)

Introduction: In this final episode of the Beauty of the Local Church, we continue our discussion of diversity in the local church with Tim Russell, and how molded Revelation 7:9 is molded into Christ Church. During this episode, we ask the hard question that if we say we're not racist, then why do our churches still look segregated on Sundays? This has really been a discussion about unity and Christ, and I think will be helpful food for thought. Not that everybody would agree with all the points we made, but essentially, it gives us some ability to have a civil and yet a Christian candid discussion about unity in the body of Christ.

Co Hosts: Tim Russell is an ordained minister in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Tim has served in a variety of leadership roles in the education realm. He has lead the Westminster Academy to a successful reaccreditation through Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS). Tim is the Pastor to Middle Adults at Second Presbyterian Church where he and his wife, Kathe both attend. Tim obtained his bachelors degree from Geneva College in English/Education 1979 and a Masters of Divinity from Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1983. Tim's newest leadership role is serving on the Revelation 7:9 Task Force with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

The Beauty of the Local Church through Diversity with Soon Pak & Rufus Smith S2 Ep13 (Part 1)

Season 2 Episode 13 - The Beauty of the Local Church through Diversity with Soon Pak & Rufus Smith (Part 1)

Introduction: During today's episode, we talk about key factors of diversity in the local church, and how Revelation 7:9 is molded into Christ's Church. We have used the term throughout the episode of diversity to point to the more biblical word would be unity. This has really been a discussion about unity and Christ, and I think will be helpful food for thought. Not that everybody would agree with all the points we made, but essentially, it gives us some ability to have a civil and yet a Christian candid discussion about unity in the body of Christ. So I think this dialogue on this podcast will give a format for discussing in the light of unity in John 17.

Co Hosts: Rev. Rufus Smith, IV is the Senior Pastor of Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) in Memphis, Tennessee, a mega Presbyterian congregation.  Over the past 8 years, Hope EPC has transitioned from a pre-dominantly Caucasian to a multi-ethnic church in the deep south, with 30% of members being people of color.  In 2016, he Founded the Memphis Christian Pastor’s Network (MCPN) an ethnically & denominationally diverse clergy-only network. MCPN  “bridges the trust-gap” between pastors via candid conversation, supplication, and social interaction—outside of church walls. Cultivating greater trust enables this consortium of 57 pastors to strategically collaborate and leverage their influence to close the “economic disparity gap” in our beloved city.

Rev. Soon Pak is the Pastor of Discipleship at Ward Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Northville, MI, a suburb of Detroit. He attended Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando for his Masters in Divinity and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Ministry in Adaptive Leadership at Fuller Theological Seminary. He’s been married to Erin for almost fourteen years and have three children, Levi, 7, Titus, 6, and Abigail, 3, and is expecting another son in February.

The Beauty of the Church in the Old & New Testament a Lecture with David Hoffelmyer and Aaron White - S2 Ep 10

Introduction to this Episode: This lecture session highlights C. S. Lewis' Screwtape Letters and the transitions to the Church in the Old and New Testament. David Hoffelmyer mentions several passages in Bible to support his argument and he points the Westminster Confession of Faith to bring his argument home. He delivers his lecture in a way that all can understand and relate. Dr. Aaron White adds to this lecture by highlighting the early church gatherings featured in the book of Acts. Aaron was featured in season two on his essay, but during this lecture he brings out a question "What about the gathered church in the New Testament in the book of Acts?" Aaron expands his essay and gives a little bit more on the early church gatherings.

About the Teaching Elders: Aaron W. White (PhD, Bristol University) is pastor of First Presbyterian Church in South Charleston, Ohio. He and his wife, Sarah, have been married for 13 years and have six kids. Evans and David Wenham, Bloomsbury/T&T Clark, 2018), and has two others in preparation; Who Created Christianity? (coedited with Craig A. Motivation Monday - Guide Me, Oh Thou Great Jehovah #8

This is an old hymn of the church. We often need to be reminded that our guide is Jehovah. No other can guide like him, no other can deliver you like him. No there is no other can open now the crystal fountain, whence the healing stream doth flow. Jehovah is our supreme guide!

“Open now the crystal fountain, whence the healing stream doth flow; Let the fire and cloudy pillar lead me all my journey through; Strong deliverer, strong deliverer, Be thou still my strength and shield, Be thou still my strength and shield”

Season Two - The Beauty of the Local Church Series

Season Two - The Beauty of the Local Church Series

The Beauty of the Local Church Series - Season Two

“To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:21)

In volume three of the Westminster Society Journal, our contributors consider the important role of the local church in the Kingdom of God. Viewed dismissively as totally irrelevant by some and simply unnecessary by others, our authors argue precisely in the opposite direction: despite many critiques, the local church is beautiful, necessary, and deeply meaningful. She is after all, the Bride of Christ. Not only is the local church indispensable in the lives of ordinary believers, but it is the very means through which the Gospel of Jesus Christ is carried to our broken and hurting world.

Working from a robustly biblical and theological perspective, each of these essays argues for a soundly biblical, and theologically moored conception of the local church. Contributors for this volume include local pastors, church elders, New and Old Testament scholars, and seminary professors.

The Westminster Society exists as a networking group to promote fellowship and unity amidst Reformed churches, and to foster biblical scholarship and confessional churchmanship among believers and church leaders.
