Synopsis: This week Brandon interviews a local recording artist about their new album “Living Proof.” Living Proof was released at the beginning of 2022, just several months after Hurricane Ida struck landfall. Hurricane Ida cause devastating damage to the area that left a lot of people in disarray. This album was released at the perfect time for people. The album brings encouragement and peace. Meet the Guest: Janet grew up as a little barefoot country girl in Belah, La. She was the youngest of three children. She was raised in the church and had wonderful parents. The biggest spiritual influence was her Grandmother Gulde, who she states was a Proverbs 31 woman! Janet always loved music and participated in youth choirs in school and church as she was perusing her career in music. Janet graduated from Jena High in 1986 and married her high school sweetheart, Patrick “Packy” Thompson in June of that year. She worked alongside her husband in the Ministry in many different roles. She sang and played the piano as she did Intern with Packy’s parents at Maranatha Assembly in Jena, La. The couple took a staff position in Eunice, La. where they stayed for 3 years. They were Youth Pastors and Janet was the Worship Leader. They began their family in 1991 when their first son, Trey was born, then Joshua in 1995, and Amanda in 2000. The Thompsons came to Bayou Blue Assembly in 1993 as Senior Pastors. Janet became the worship leader shortly after they came to Bayou Blue and has continued that calling to this day. She has been on Staff since 2010 as the Music Pastor.  Janet has received her Ordination to Minister through the Assemblies of God.  Her heart is to lead people into the presence of God every time they walk into the church and she desires each one to know the peace and joy that He brings! Synopsis: We tend to want to control every aspect of our lives, and we tend to "remove" God from His post, so to speak. We need not forget that God's will for our lives will never fail. Synopsis: There are times that we are not ourselves. However, we see God as perfect and unchanging. God's common grace to the order of the world permeates the universe. We as humans cannot judge God based on the world's failures, but we can see His grace at work in sustaining us through the failures of the world. (This is part of the Doctrines of the Church Series.) Synopsis: Sickness is something that we cannot avoid, sickness is something that is with us even until the day we die. How we handle that sickness is how we show our faith in God and how we display our faith in God is through the hard times and then through those hard times we could encourage others. This 23-year-old was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor that's called Gioblastoma.  Luke Dufault shares his testimony with us as he suffers from this tumor and how is faith is seeing him through this tough time in his life. During a turbulent year, we have become weary, bothered, depressed, and we even lost sight of God's faithfulness at times. This year has been a mad year for us all. We have come to the most joyous time of the year. Christmas. As we celebrated Advent, we learned about Hope (1. Thes. 4:13-14), following that, we explore Peace (Luke 1:76 - 79), through peace, we are filled with Joy (Luke 2:15 - 20), because of that joy we are feel Love (John 3:16 -17).

Christmas is here! We celebrated the coming of Christ and his love for us (John 3:16 - 17). This is a joyful time. This weary world rejoices!

Synopsis: This has been a strange year for the American people. From COVID to unnecessary racial wars. We even have liberal people trying to tell black people how they should think and live. On top of all the craziness, we have black people attacking other black people who do not subscribe to the stereotypical norms of what the media says and what liberal tell us to think and how to respond to events. When black people put down black conservatives, it does not help us a people and it weakens us as unit. This seems to be what the government wants from us. Let’s hold fast to our faith and think with the brain God gave each of us. We are made in the Imago Dei – the Image of God! Join Pam and I as we talk about our faith amid hatred and division from our own community!

Meet the Guest: Our guest is not your ordinary stereotypical black woman. She is a hard-working individual that faces adversities for thinking for herself. Pam Stevens is from Kenosha, Wisconsin but a native to the great state of Texas. Pam is the mother of 5 with two grandchildren. She is a property manager and has been for the past 23 years. To top it all off, you can find her on TikToc @texasgirlpam creating political content that makes sense to some but not all. She gets hatred from the black community because of her conservative views.

Synopsis: You have heard me say over the past few weeks say faith is practical. It’s an action that is visible for all to see. How strong is your faith in God for the tough times? During turmoil and at your lowest of low, dig deep for the deep-seated faith in God and all He can do for your life. He is a graduate of William Carey University, where he earned a B.A. in Religion. He holds an M.T.S from Gateway Theological Seminary. He is a recent graduate of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he earned a Ph.D. in Theology. His dissertation focused on a critique of Robotic Futurism and the potential of Dehumanization.

He is also working on a second book, Robot Theology: Old Questions through New Media, which is about the intersection of religion and robots with Wipf and Stock.

This couple is a prime example of faith on display looks like even with ups and downs. They consider themselves servants for a greater cause.

Ryan Orgeron II is a native of Thibodaux where he resides with his wife and daughter. Ryan works as a dietitian for South Central Louisiana Human Services Authority helping people with their nutritional needs. During his free time, he is at his gym, coaching locals, athletes, and fitness enthusiasts either on waits or eating healthier. Ryan is a great friend and soon, he will be launching his podcast called the Lifted Podcast.

First Presbyterian Church Online (August 2, 2020)

This sermon by Rev. Bill Crawford simply reminds us that the Lord for us, He love is and He died for us! I hope this message powers you through this week and that you can feel the Lord's presence.

Our Help Is in the Name of the Lord

124 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side—
let Israel now say—
2 if it had not been the Lord who was on our side
when people rose up against us,
3 then they would have swallowed us up alive,
when their anger was kindled against us;
4 then the flood would have swept us away,
the torrent would have gone over us;
5 then over us would have gone
the raging waters.

6 Blessed be the Lord,
who has not given us
as prey to their teeth!
7 We have escaped like a bird
from the snare of the fowlers;
the snare is broken,
and we have escaped!

8 Our help is in the name of the Lord,

This sermon touches on what Psalm 123 means to the Christian and how it is relevant in your lives today. Pastor Bill Crawford reminds us that "the justice of God has been served by his Son" Jesus Christ. We often get caught up in what injustices are committed and not so much on the justice that is served. Pastor Bill Crawford reminds us that "Jesus is the radiance of the Glory of God" and hour radiance is embedded in Christ Jesus.

We have to remember that "the man on the cross is better than the man in the mirror, always." I pray this sermon finds you well and helps you understand God. 

Synopsis: We are in trying times that test our faith, and the well-being of our society. With COVID-19 still roaring loud, we now face a new tragedy that further divides us as a nation and as a human race. Amongst violent rioters, and looters, most people area being silenced for voicing a moral and Christian based opinion about the current events. Our Law Enforcement is being threated, forced to quit their jobs and forced to take sides. With the recent events, this nation is under attack by the enemy and that enemy is hiding behind racism. The enemy wants division. Satan will not win if we are united as a nation and as a people of repentance. Tune into this episode with Brandon and Matthew talking about the issues at hand.

As we reach the end of our season on Suicide and Hope, we still urge those who are depressed and are thinking of suicide to seek professional help. You must remember that you are loved by your family and friends and you matter to them. This season has been filled with content to help and encourage you. However, I leave you with hope. Hope in God and hope in our lives, for God knows our every struggle and with us as we walk that journey.

This is an old hymn of the church. We often need to be reminded that our guide is Jehovah. No other can guide like him, no other can deliver you like him. No there is no other can open now the crystal fountain, whence the healing stream doth flow. Jehovah is our supreme guide!

The Beauty of the Local Church Series - Season Two

In volume three of the Westminster Society Journal, our contributors consider the important role of the local church in the Kingdom of God. Viewed dismissively as totally irrelevant by some and simply unnecessary by others, our authors argue precisely in the opposite direction: despite many critiques, the local church is beautiful, necessary, and deeply meaningful. She is after all, the Bride of Christ. Not only is the local church indispensable in the lives of ordinary believers, but it is the very means through which the Gospel of Jesus Christ is carried to our broken and hurting world.

Working from a robustly biblical and theological perspective, each of these essays argues for a soundly biblical, and theologically moored conception of the local church. Contributors for this volume include local pastors, church elders, New and Old Testament scholars, and seminary professors.
