Ellis in Wunderland

Ellis in Wunderland

By Georgia Ellis

Like most people I have had a sense of wonder not only about the world we live in (our outer world), but also the world we think in (our inner world) for as long as I can remember. As I continue on this journey of life I will share with you my insights and also introduce you to the ordinary people I cross paths with who are achieving the extraordinary. I'm not talking about extraordinary as we traditionally perceive it with regards to success, I'm referring to those women and men who are living on purpose and sharing their unique gifts with the world - whatever those gifts may be.

Healing the Mother Wound Ft Kerri Hummingbird

Healing the Mother Wound Ft Kerri Hummingbird

In this absolute GEM of an episode we dive deep down the rabbit hole of parental relationships and how they can impact our entire experience for the rest of our lives in ways we often don’t realise.

Kerri helps us unpack how the interactions we have had with our parents as children can shape who we become as adults; our need to help others from an avoidance of our own wounds, our need for attention or validation as examples.

We discuss how these wounds can impact the way we relate in general - whether with partners, colleagues, friends, or anyone we interact with - in such a way that it influences how we listen, how we interpret, how we support, how we separate, how we judge, how we ridicule, and how we show up in the places and spaces we find ourselves in at any given moment.

There are many tips for how to overcome, let go of, and develop past these areas of our lives and heal these parental wounds, with an emphasis on developing a deep, foundational relationship with ourselves and the magical power that exists in all of life, and and embracing the power of authenticity as a key to unlocking everything we desire.

Finding the truth of who you are - Ft. Doug Wilson

Finding the truth of who you are - Ft. Doug Wilson

Doug was what most people in the modern day world would have viewed as successful. He had moved to London for work, where he was working in a great corporate job, making great money, loved to party and seemed to be living “the life”.

It wasn’t until at the age of 31, Doug’s life changed as he knew it. Doug was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumour. After undergoing a 14-hour operation, and suffering extensive cranial nerve damage, he battled surgically induced meningitis, had to learn to walk again and still today faces life-long complications, including single-sided deafness, permanent balance issues and facial paralysis.

In this episode, Doug takes us on his journey, on how in the middle of his madness, he found his way back to himself through yoga and meditation. Doug shows us how the universe is always talking to us, and it will either tickle you with a feather, or slap you in the face depending on how closely you are listening.

This is an inspiring story where Doug shows us how he turned what seemed like a road to destruction, into the path of overcoming addiction, healing trauma and finding the way back to the truth of who he is.  If you have ever had the feeling that there must be more to your existence, then this a must listen!

If you would like to find Doug, you can follow him on Instagram @kundalinirunning, or check out his Youtube channel where he gives great information into the art and science of Yoga and Meditation, or head on over to his website to buy his book.

In this White Rabbit edition, listen in as Jamie Wheal - Executive Director of the
Flow Genome Project (FGP) provides solid sounding points for emotional, spiritual and tactical actions as the world as we now it changes at lightning speed.

In the words of Jamie Wheal “It’s lively times and we hope everyone is keeping heads up and hearts open”.

As our newsreels and news feeds tell the tales of empty grocery stores, social distancing memes, borders closing and hygiene tips. This repurposed recording gifted to us by the FGP team offer us a larger frame of how to remain in a high performing state during VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) times, the message is one that shares an anti-fragile secret to surviving and thriving in challenging conditions.

As the world got crazier people began to reach out to the FGP team for recommendations on the practical and tactical of surviving and thriving. They then hosted a Zoom call with their community that went into some depth on what they have learned guiding expeditions in remote corners of Nepal and Tibet, leading off-grid base camps for months at a time in the forest (no electricity or refrigeration), tracking the emergency responsiveness of the Burning Man community, and being privy to a bunch of high level off-line dialogues with their three letter agency, DC, WHO, SOCOM, existential risk friends.

If you’re looking to distill the complex information out there right now this recording will raise your awareness (without the panic) and can provide you with the means to Embrace the Suck, Take the Hit as a Gift. Savor and Save the World and Above All, Be Kind.

It matters not, The Universe does these things Ft: Chris Koch

It matters not, The Universe does these things Ft: Chris Koch

Imagine planning out your day, fully expecting to be home for dinner only to end up in a jail cell with a stranger. Having found yourself convicted of a crime.

My guest on this episode doesn’t have to imagine that situation, as it’s exactly what happened to him. Chris was used to the high life, rubbing shoulders with US presidents, CIA operatives and the wealthy. He earned large sums of money doing what came naturally to him as one of Australia’s top 5 speakers. His success as a professional speaker allowed him to live the high life, fancy restaurants, beautiful homes, first class travel and accommodation wherever he went. But that all changed in June 2010.

During this episode I chat with Chris about his experience in prison, he shares incredible insights on how you can build resilience in your own life along with ideas on how to build trusting relationships. We also discuss the “disease of greed” that inflicted him and continues to plague society as people continue risk everything in the search for unimaginable riches. Chris shares how he survived for seven and a half years in several high security prisons by using the same motivational skills and relationship building capabilities that had placed him at the highest level in the professional speaking industry. Chris’s encounters in prison are both inspirational and saddening yet you will notice how he was always able to look on the optimistic side of the challenges that arose, taking the “hit” as a “gift”.

I’m Taking my life back! Ft. Anita Bentata

I’m Taking my life back! Ft. Anita Bentata

Despite concern and greater awareness about domestic violence, it’s still happening, and with only 16% of women who experience violence contacting an agency such as a shelter, crisis centre or hotline, counsellor or women’s centre for help, we may never really know the how wide spread the issue is.

In this extraordinary episode I speak with Anita Bentata, an escapee of domestic violence. Anita’s story has been documented in her book “The Wolf in a Suit”.

During this episode Anita shares incredible insights from the children’s fairy tale “Little Red Riding Hood” and it’s easy to see the parallels of the fairy tale with her own journey, Anita is Little Red Riding Hood, standing at the edge of the woods, being caught by The Wolf (only he’s wearing a suit), and finally escaping with her two little girls.

This episode is one of hope, courage and full of insights as Anita shares how we can all access far more than we know, and how when faced with mixed messages from a partner we end up confused, leading to inaction, possibly the reason why some women stay much longer than they should. Anita has turned her experiences into a mission to help women, she went on to study Human Behavior and became a psychotherapist and counsellor. Anita now helps women to develop their emotional muscle to speak about the unknown and the uncomfortable, she is well versed in all the unspoken myths about love, stress and relationships.

Flirt with the edge of your comfort Zone. Ft. Guy Lawrence

Flirt with the edge of your comfort Zone. Ft. Guy Lawrence

Are you still looking for or wondering what your purpose in life is? How would you like to simply bump into it? Well Guy shares how you can do that, because it’s exactly what happened to him.

Guy is a regular guy, doing extraordinary things! From humble beginnings in Wales the former founder of 180 Nutrition shares how he went from plumber, to stock trader to wellness authority to Treasure Hunter and Map maker… but he doesn’t hunt the treasures most of us seek in the external world, and he doesn’t make maps with burnt edges either.

He hunts for treasure far more valuable than diamonds, silver and gold, and I can guarantee you that once you hear his story and wisdom, you will want to know more about his map making!

At the beginning of 2018, Guy stepped down from his 180 Nutrition role to focus full time on his new project “Let It In’, helping people transform their lives using meditation and the language of neuroscience and wow, do we go down some amazing rabbit holes in this episode!

Guy talks about how he was forced to go back to a beginner’s mind, and in doing so, opened himself up to a new world of information and possibility, but more importantly, as old beliefs began to be dismantled and fall away, he had no option than to ask himself “Where else have I been wrong?” He share’s one of the most terrifying, yet liberating things he has done and how he eventually found a way to align his head and his heart to his new-found purpose. I encourage you to take not of his final piece of advice… if you do this one thing… your life really will be incredible!

Unsubscribe from Modern Living for a Better Life Ft. Mahendra Shah

Mahendra Shah has over 30 years’ experience in emergency relief & rehabilitation to food security and sustainable development, he has worked all over our beautiful planet and is now the owner of Zen Resort in Bali.

Mahendra is someone you want to just sit back and listen to, and why wouldn’t you, when someone has so much wisdom to share.  In the 80’s he participated in UN conferences in Geneva and was an integral part in the launch of emergency relief for the African famine. He has met people like Bob Geldof and George H. W. Bush. In the 90’s he prepared the Earth Summit summary report and in 2002 he presented a report on climate change and agricultural vulnerability at the Earth Summit held in Johannesburg.

Our brief chat is loaded with wisdom, Mahendra shares so many insights including;

· How an epiphany on a beach in Bali 35 years ago changed the way he saw sustainability and why it’s important that we all become “sustainable human beings”

· The importance of asking ourselves “Am I living a happy, healthy and joyful life? “

· How a simple morning routine of ‘Zen Chi’ can set you up for an amazing day.

· The five ingredients that make up life’s cocktail.

· The importance of collecting the knowledge of our Grandmothers before it’s too late.

· How mobilising traditional knowledge built over 5000 years can help us ALL experience a healthier existence.

· A beautiful tool to let go of those who have hurt you and bless those who have helped you.

· Advice on how to find more balance in life.

This episode really got me thinking, and I’ll need to listen to it more than once to truly capture Mahindra’s wisdom. It left me curious as to whether the simple banana leaf could hold the key to saving our planet?
