E50 - One extra degree...NO Secrets to Success
On this episode we talk about the importance that one extra degree can make, one extra effort is all that is required for us to reach greatness. Thomas Edison said that "Many of life’s failures are men who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." How close are you to your goal? Takeaway here is not to give up but to focus you and your team on that one extra degree.
On their book 212°: the Extra Degree. Sam Parker and Mac Anderson they write about the fact that:
Raising the temperature of water by one extra degree means the difference between something that is simply very hot and something that generates enough force to power a machine—a beautiful, uncomplicated metaphor that ideally should feed every endeavor—consistently pushing us to make the extra effort in every task we undertake…. It reminds us that seemingly small things can make tremendous differences. The key lesson from this episode is that it doesn’t take that much extra effort to win first place, just one extra degree can take the water from being hot to boiling which will generate steam that can move locomotives.
How will you apply this idea to this upcoming week...would love to hear your feedback.
Be 212 degrees on all you do!!!

E43 - "You are on Mute" Awareness and Communication lessons from 2020.
Often times we get to talking and assume that our audience is mesmerized by what comes out of our mouth. We just keep talking and talking and completely ignore the reception of the message from the audience. How nice would it be if there were signals that would allow the speaker to stop and realize that they are disconnected with their audience?
I ran this exercise on a Virtual Workshop that I conducted about Effective Communication. Half way through my speech I muted myself on purpose and continued to speak. In a matter of 2 seconds, everyone started saying “you are on mute” and signaling with their hands that they could not hear me.
I told the audience that I was thankful that they gave me the signal and allowed me to reconnect with them with my message. However, often times as we communicate, we are not as lucky in receiving these signals. That means that as speakers we go through the illusion of communicating and are not aware of how well the message is received.
Pausing, asking questions, engaging your audience, looking at their body language and facial expressions are some signals that as speakers we can look for as we communicate. These signals will tell us whether “We are on Mute” and have lost the interest of the listeners. The ability to Mute/BAN distractions in a CONFERENCE CALL and in your LIFE.
We have all been in conference calls where someone was oblivious to the speaker and their noise, distractions, or side conversations interrupted your message. This happened even after you kindly reminded everyone to please be on Mute at the beginning of the presentation unless they were speaking.
You can tell how that distraction can mess up your flow, get your off track on what you were trying to accomplish. As a host YOU have a CHOICE, You can remind them to please be on mute, and if that does not work you can quickly mute them so that they cannot bother you and the rest of the audience, and if that does not work then you can KICK THEM OUT of the meeting, because you are the HOST.
Now, let’s apply this to our own lives. How many times do we get distracted by things or people that throws us off track? The lesson for all of us here is that as HOSTS of our own lives, we have a CHOICE, we can allow these distractions to be part of our lives and continue be off track, or we can MUTE/BAN them and shift our focus back to our purpose. The choice is ours.
As you embark on your 2021 Journey, remember to intentionally look out for signals so you can better connect with your audience, and EMPOWER yourself, as the HOST of your Life, by Muting/Banning distractions from your day to day life and EMPOWER YOU to Success.

E42 - 2020 Hindsight

E41 - If your Environment is not challenging you to Grow - Let it Go!!!
On this eipsode we talk about Self- leadership and the importance of leading ourselves first. It all starts with us. Its start with us wanting to make a change and realizing that we are the ones that have to take action. However our environment and inner circle play a big role in us looking for ways to grow or ways to bring change.
On this episode Denis shares his story of how he had to make certain decisions and change his environment in order to continue to grow and work towards his goals.
Key takeway from this episode is that If your environment and inner circle is not pushing and encouraging you to Grow then it might be time to Let Go.
Do you agree with this?
Letr's Grow,

E40 - I have to vs. I get to (The power of Attitude)
On this episode we talk about the power of attitude, specifically about choosing how view our daily tasks.
When we use the words
- I have to go to work...
- I have to go to the gym...
- I have to go to school... etc. we are associating this with an obigation and mentally this becomes a chore for us. I was recently reminded of this when I was speaking to a friend of mine that ws laid off since april due to the pandemic and was having a hard time getting a job. As we were conversing I mentioned that I had to go back to work. My friend reminded me in a humbling way that I was lucky that I had the opportunity to go to work. At this moment I was reminded of the choice and the power of attitude that a mentor of mine had shared with me years back. He would go as far as correct us when we would say that we have to do this and have to do that...he would constantly say that we get to... we don't have to.
So on this 40th Episode the challenge for us is to turn our obligations into opportunities by choosing our attitude.
Enjoy this episode and remember to Learn Grow and Influence.

E39 - "Why Leadership Coaching Does Not Work?" - Martin Harshberger
About Martin:
Martin's humble journey of entrepreneurship began right after he reached the highest peak in his corporate career. He became General Manager for an international, multi-million-dollar organization. In reality, he acted as a Vice President, but he couldn't officially receive this title because he never finished college.
At the Control Data Corporation, Martin interacted with senior executives at hundreds of companies. He felt he was ready to leave and start his own company.
He founded Logistics Management Inc. with 800K cash investment by two investment groups. They subsequently guaranteed bank loans of an additional $2M.
Martin grew the company to over $50M in the U.S. and Europe and had five separate offers to buy it at a minimum of 12 times the investor's cash investment. They made the Inc. 500 as one of America's fastest-growing companies. When it became clear the Board was not interested in selling the business at any price, Martin cashed out in 2000. He knew that technology changes would eventually make their services less profitable, and a sale was their best option.
Martin invested his time in a second venture financed by friends. They started with 1M in sales and got it to 8M in 5 years. They sold the company to a large organization. Next, martin decided to launch his consulting business.
Martin started consulting at 58. He moved from Memphis to Tupelo, MS, 90 miles away from his previous home, but 25 years back in time. A nice community, low crime, low traffic, just what he needed. He bought a house on a golf course and was going to slow down. Martin had a health issue in 2005, kidney cancer. He had surgery, and all is ok now, but Martin began to think about how he wanted to spend the rest of his life. He took a few months off and really got bored. His wife was still working and was going to be for at least five more years. So, Martin was looking for something productive to do part-time.

Jeff's work is about challenging the current power structures in order to create a more equitable work environment and he does this through experiential play, where you build empathy for one other by putting yourself in someone else's shoes.
Jeff Harry shows individuals and companies how to tap into their true selves, to feel their happiest and most fulfilled — all by playing. Jeff has worked with Google, Microsoft, Southwest Airlines, Adobe, the NFL, Amazon, and Facebook, helping their staff to infuse more play into the day-to-day.
Jeff is an international speaker who has presented at conferences such as INBOUND, SXSW, and Australia’s Pausefest, showing audiences how major issues in the workplace can be solved using play. Jeff was selected by BambooHR & Engagedly as one of the Top 100 HR Influencers of 2020 for his organizational development work around dealing with toxic people in the workplace. His play work has most recently been featured in the NY Times article: How Do We Add More Play To Our Grown-Up Life - Even Now: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/14/smarter-living/adults-play-work-life-balance.html. He has also been featured on AJ+, SoulPancake, the SF Chronicle, and CNN.
While we spend most of our time pretending to be important, serious grownups, it's when we let go of that facade and just play, that the real magic happens. Fully embracing your own nerdy genius — whatever that is — gives you the power to make a difference and change lives. Jeff believes that we already have many of the answers we seek, and by simply unleashing our inner child, we can find our purpose and, in turn, help to create a better world.

E28 - Lessons from a marathon on Goals and Complacency.
I had set a goal for myself in 2016 to complete a marathon. Not being a runner, the idea of running 26.2 miles truly scared me, however I had made up my mind and signed up for it and there was no going back at this point. Below you will find some key takeaways that can be applied to any goal that you might have as I breakdown the journey of #goalsetting, #goalachievement and #complacency.
1.Set a goal and commit
The idea of wanting to run a marathon had been on my mind for a while and every year I kept talking about but did not commit to taking action. I had done research, had narrowed it down to three marathons, had the dates but never took that leap of faith to sign up for it, because my reasons for not being able to do it muffled that voice inside me that wanted to do it. In January of 2016, I finally made the commitment and signed up for the Via Marathon, in Lehigh Valley, PA that was to take place on September 11th, 2016.

E27 - Job Search Process - SNAP Session 4
On this episode we will your through the INTERVIEW process and what to expect.
What a year 2020 has been thus far!!! We are half way through the year and so far we have had to adjust, change, pivot, prepare and plan for the unknown.
Recently, I know of a lot of people who have lost their jobs and are working hard at navigating through the process of getting another one.
On this episode I share some practices that I have personally used when I have transitioned from one company to another. Some folks plan ahead and stay current with the job market, some were settled and never saw the need to have an updated resume, or have not had an interview in over a decade.
In this episode I share some tips that I have found helpful that you can put in place as you carve your path to SUCCESS.
S.W.O.T. analysis- start by creating awareness of your Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. (S.W.O.T CHART)
Need - Identify what you needs are.
Availability - See what is available on the market by conducting your research. Align this with your need.
Plan and Act- Plan your search and start applying and networking.

Empowered to Success: Session 7 - S Shine bright and share your S.U.C.C.E.S.S with others
Although everyday life as we know it, can be challenging and overwhelming, we have the resources and the tools to live an empowered life. An existence of empowerment allows us to make progress toward and eventually achieve all your goals and dreams.
Define who you are. Understand what Success means to you and write that down. Do not let the environment around you, your current circumstances define your future, instead use that as spring board to propel yourself towards your dreams and your goals.
I grew up in a former communist country, and even though only 7 years old when the system fell, I can still recall what it meant to have no voice, where even your thoughts and dreams were “controlled” by the government. When the system fell, and people started fleeing to the neighboring countries, I recall vividly what my dream was, I wanted to become an Immigrant. Just like everyone around me, right after 8th grade, I wanted to go and work in Greece and Italy and bring money home to support my family. I recall my mother saying “Only if I am dead will you get to do that, you will go to school and get and education”. I was blessed to have had a loving family who supported and always challenged me. My parents would go to spend most of their salary so that my brother and I would learn English. I recall them saying– “One day you will be able to use it, as English is the language of the world”.
I guess my parents were right, both my brother and I had the opportunity to come to the United States and get an education and create our families. I also got to live my dream by Becoming an Immigrant. We would not be able to be here today without the help of some very special people, to whom we will be forever grateful.
I truly hope that you have enjoyed reading this and wish you the best on your journey as you chase YOUR dream. Remember that this is A way of empowering yourself to success,
