|OFF-O11| Recognition of Work and Stats
Hello Exam Seekers,
As I’ve mentioned a while ago, I’ve been pretty busy lately. I’ve been working a lot… you know, a #teacherslife: prepare lessons, teach lessons, correct lessons, I mean, homework and tests, and etc.
Also, I’ve been editing the videos for Exam Seekers Youtube Channel – not only editing, but also preparing content, adapting it to scripts, recording, and editing. It is all demanding… I am glad about the results I’ve been having. So if you want to check out the results.... listen to the podcast! |OFF-005| Why is it important to teach pronunciation?
Hello Exam Seekers,
Today's post focuses on something that most people - and even teachers - take for granted: PRONUNCIATION!
People tend to think that teaching pronunciation is the easiest thing to do. After all, it is not neglected since you always write the words that the students spell incorrectly on the side and spare some minutes of your lesson to correct their pronunciation, right? Are you sure that this is teaching pronunciation?
Books to help you with pronunciation: English Pronunciation in Use by CUP. Introducing English Pronunciation: A Teacher's Guide to Tree or Three? and Ship or Sheep? by Ann Baker. Jazz Chants(r): Student Book by Carolyn Graham. English Pronunciation Illustrated by John Trim. English pronunciation for Brazilians: The Sounds of American English by Sonia Godoy, Cris Gontow, and Marcello Marcelino.

|CELTA-015d| Preparing a Lesson Plan [PART 4: Board Plan]
Hello Exam Seekers,
As I mentioned in the previous CELTA Lesson Plan posts, I was teaching a Listening Lesson based on authentic material. Students were supposed to watch a video called Travel Tips: Real Discounts on Airfare Found by Sonia Gil and grasp information from it. These are the steps of my lesson plan:
Part 1: Describe the lesson (add information about the type of lesson, number of students, time, etc.);
Part 2: Language Analysis (write about the language you will use in class – vocab/grammar);
Part 3: Procedures / Steps (write how you will develop the lesson dividing it into stages, grouping, and timing);
Part 4: Board Plan (preplan your board to keep it organized);
Part 5: Handouts (prepare the material you will use in class).
Today, I’m talking about the fourth step: Board Plan.

|EE-025c| B1: Preliminary – Writing [Part 2b: Writing a story]
Hello ExamSeekers,
The other week, I started talking about the Writing Exam, which is divided into two parts:
- Part 1– Mandatory task: Writing an e-mail.
- Part 2 – Optional task: Writing an article or a story.
In part 1, candidates have to write about 100 words answering an e-mail. There is no other option. For part 2, candidates have to choose to write an article or a story based on the guideline. So, candidates must write 100 words, answering one of the questions, and if they do it properly, they can get up to 20 marks.
Today I’m talking about the second option: Writing a Story. Listen to the podcast or read it as a blog post: https://examseekers.wordpress.com/2021/05/18/ee-025c-b1-preliminary-writing-part-2b-writing-a-story/
