L I f E in the UK - A Mentality
L I f E in the UK.
I love the UK and in particular London. I consider myself a "Londoner", but there's one thing I will never get used to.

Sinéad O'Connor - One Of A Kind
My thoughts on the devastating death of Sinéad O'Connor. The song at the end is from a video I did at Sinéad's concert in 2015. I am devastated, even if not surprised, but so heartbroken.
RIP one of a kind. 💔

Sorry, for the poor audio conversion from the text, Anchor.fm stopped collaborating with WordPress since Spotify took over Anchor. With WordPress I ws able to choose female or male voice, with an online program I had no choice.
But I still want to have this has an audio version for people with sight impairment.

Systems 2 (When 20p Breaks The Bank)
In this episode, I call "Systems 2" after the first episode further below on Systems, I just speak about personal things and a speific frustration I have with organisations, especially charities. I speak about how "small" thing derail me now, whereas before I either didn't notice, or shrugged it off. And now I upset people when I still continue to drink and get paranoid. This is not an excuse, I just try to cope again.

Dear "Professionals", Please Remain Professional, don't come through the back-door
This episode is after an experience in a Zoom bereavement group which is a great group, but a group more for the facilitators than us all in the group. This is also somewhat my experience with the mental health system and Pret A Manger's abusive conduct via Lila Tighilt Warren (please scroll down to the Lila episode).
For more info on Pret and my experience of traumatic bereavement in the workplace, Pret's systemic workplace bullying and exploitation, please see https://expret.org

Part 04 Pret Labelling Issues - Celia Marsh Inquest
As a former Pret A Manger staff I want to continue giving insights into the chaos and inconsistencies in Pret.
In light of the new inquest into the 2. Pret customer who died from a Pret product, I want to add something important that I forgot to mention in the previous 3 Parts of mislabelling issues in Pret. New inquest started in Bath on 05. September 2022 and is estimated to last for 3 weeks. The inquest is looking into the vegan yogurt company CoYo, NOT into Pret as the prosecution against Pret was dropped due to lack of evidence. Celia Marsh's widow Andy Marsh and their 5 daughters and families rightly wants answers into why his wife died, but so far has hit a brick wall as Pret and CoYo blame each other.
Apart from Pret now breaking the law ("Natasha's Law"), I share that Pret implemented TWO types of labelling before 2 customer deaths and multiple allergen injuries became public in 2018. BUT the 2 labelling types that Pret implemented were NOT for allergen and ingredients for customers' information.

Pret A Manger CEO Pano Christou's 2021 payrise AND £4.2million bonus after cutting staff pay
Pret A Manger CEO Pano Christou's 2021 payrise AND £4.2million bonus after cutting staff pay.
In this Anchor podcast a few weeks ago I already spoke about Christou's £300K pay in 2020 and that there's a reason why he didn't tell how much he got paid in 2021 PLUS millions in bonus. Well, a journalist finally digged deeper and found that Christou received a payrise to £400K in 2021 AND £4.2million in bonus after cutting hours, cuttin pay, cutting benefits, cutting paid breaks of his lowest paid staff. I also tlak about that Pret delayed paying staff twice this year and the NHS freebie PR stunt in 2020.
Thanks for listening.

Pret A Manger Bullying Culture - Part 1
In these 3 part episodes I share in detail what I went through in Pret after my brother died. I couldn't keep this one short as the story is very complex and I was targeted for at least 6 months straight before my ordeal with HR started. For more and general info, please visit expret.org

Pret A Manger Bullying Culture - Part 2
Part 2 of my personal story with Pret's extreme bullying environment and when I targeted. For general info on Pret's bullying culture, please see: https://expret.org/2019/10/28/caught-in-the-act-at-pret

Pret A Manger Bullying Culture - Part 3
Last part 3 of my Pret systemic bullying experience that reached to the top levels, including former CEO Clive Schlee. I may do a fourth episode explaining how Clive Schlee was involved and the most horrible thing Pret did via a development manager. I write about this here: https://expret.org/2020/06/09/questions-to-lila-tighilt-warren

1 - To Friends, Foes, and Strangers
Upfront, sorry for the LOW VOLUME, this is the first episode I've done spontaneously, having had a cold and using an old phone. Apologies. The other episodes are louder and clearer. ---
I didn't want to do a podcast, and don't really call this a podcast as such as I am more waffling along, but I've written a lot about my brother and then later about my former workplace Pret A Manger where I was bullied during bereavement. I write extensively on this and other issues on expret.org ---
My mum's death during lock-down in 2021 is hitting me at the moment of recording and beyond. I couldn't bury her, and like with my brother, everything about my family's passing seems not normal and I am just moving in an ongoing Twilight Zone.
Some of you who know me only a little bit or since recently may be shocked what I share about Pret. But my story is very complex since my brother died and I have become tired of writing and just want to speak from my gut. I have evidence that I share on my blog as well as customers and staff sharing their experiences. ---
I never thought I'd lose almost every friend I've ever had, almost from the moment my I received the news of his death. Apologies in advance for the bad language. But it is what it is.

2 - Systems
After spontaneously sharing about my losses etc. (apologies for doing these with a cold), I want to continue on a subject to do with systems. We all see people, organizations, issues in a certain way. The American journalist, political show host Rachel Maddow has a sentence on her Twitter profile that says, "I see political people". Her subject is politics. My subjects are a variety, but I see Systems. Everywhere, and this since all that happened in my life since 2015.

3 - My Ordeal with the NHS Mental Health System
Since my brother died in Dec. 2014, which I only found out in Jan. 2015 and that he was already cremated without our knowledge, I tried to find help and never expected to be sent around in circles. My ordeal didn't get better after the bullying in Pret and losing my dad, and now mum. This Part 3 is a continuation of Part 2 "Systems" and zooms in on the NHS mental health service.
There is a systemic refusal to acknowledge trauma and grief.

Ongoing Mislabelling at Pret A Manger (2)
Part 2 of the ongoing mislabelling issues at Pret, even after 2 customers died and over a dozen further allergen injuries. I expand on the infamous Barbican Center seminar I touched on in Part 1: https://anchor.fm/expretdotorg/episodes/Ongoing-Mislabelling-at-Pret-A-Manger-1-e1ho3pu
Also see "Allergy Trial 2021" on another customer injury who almost became the third fatality:

Pret CEO Pano Christou's £300,000 Pay
In this episode I want to show the contrast in pay which is "normal" in business, but I want to call out Pret's PR stunts especially what they did just before first lock-down in March 2020 in regards to NHS workers. For a written version please visit: https://expret.org/2022/01/15/pret-a-manger-misinformed-the-press

FREE Coffees in Pret A Manger
I explain in detail why Pret don't do loyalty cards and why Pret's freebie policy is discriminatory. For screenshots of customers and former staff tweets, please see the blog post version, link below.
This episode is also available as a blog post: http://expret.org/2019/03/29/pret-free-coffees/

I was Team Leader Responsible for Health & Safety but Pret did NOT tell us of Allergen Deaths

Pret's Strict Mystery Shopper Scheme
As a former Pret staff I explain in detail how Pret's weekly strict mystery shopper scheme works and why low-wage staff smile so much in an intensely stressful work environment. For more info, please see: https://expret.org/2021/03/13/pretamanger-staff-dont-look-happy

Pret A Manger Allergy Trial 2021 (3)
This is an ongoing piece on Pret's allergen issues after "Ongoing Mislabelling" Part 1 & 2.
As a former Pret A Manger staff I explain how Pret keeps being cleared of responsibility after another customer got injured after eating an unlabelled allergen in a product. This is mainly about the training issues at Pret, or rather the lack thereof. For further info, please see: https://expret.org/2021/05/06/roberto-rodriguez-pret-a-manger-allergen-trial

Ongoing Mislabelling at Pret A Manger (1)
As a former Pret A Manger staff I explain in detail why Pret continue to have issues with mislabelling of products, even in 2022, despite 2 customers having died in 2016 and 2017, and over a dozen further allergen injuries.
