Pekka Rollins has an eventful first day in Hellgate.

Bill and Frank are introduced in a series of flashbacks that lead to present day. Joel and Ellie come to an understanding as they continue on their search for Tommy and the Fireflies.

#arthurianlegends #cursedonnetflix New on the FHP – we have decided to do a monthly series focusing on works with a central theme; for 2022, we will be discussing some of our favorite works based on Arthurian Legends, starting off with a look back at one of the first shows we covered on the podcast, the Netflix series Cursed.

Cursed tells the story of a young woman named Nimue, whose encounter with a dark force in her youth causes her to be shunned within her Fae community. Through a series of events, she sets out on a journey to discover who she really is, while encountering other figures that will have a huge impact on her journey. The usual characters are present – Arthur, Merlin, Morgana, Gawain – but there are also a few surprises in store.

#houseofthedragon We round out the year with our discussion of the season finale of House of the Dragon. After learning of the death of King Viserys and coronation of Aegon, Rhaenyra and Daemon take different approaches in dealing with their grief and anger. Rhaenyra goes into labor while Daemon plans revenge. In the midst of tragedy, Rhaenyra is crowned Queen on Dragonstone. Jaecerys and Lucerys leave Dragonstone to seek allies for their mother. A confrontation over an old grudge results in an act of war.   

#thewalkingdead #seriesfinale Oh, it's so hard to say goodbye...to The Walking Dead. After 11 seasons, we reach the final (?) conclusion for most of our characters in the series. Trying to save Judith, Daryl finds himself in a precarious situation. Gabriel, Eugene, and Rosita find and rescue the toddlers, but find themselves in trouble when they are surrounded by walkers. Judith makes a startling admission to Daryl and Carol regarding her parents. The group organizes themselves to make a last stand for the people of the Commonwealth. Negan and Maggie have a long overdue conversation. In the aftermath of war, some characters find their place, while others say goodbye. As one story ends, a new one takes shape.

Shuri, with the help of friends new and old, must find a way to heal from the past and forge her own path forward to save Wakanda. With some leveled humor amidst the heartbreak and surprises, this film pays a loving tribute to the character of King T'Challa - the Black Panther - as well as his portrayer, the late Chadwick Boseman. The group with Daryl and Maggie enter the sewers to gain access to Alexandria, while Ezekiel, Negan, and the others try to plan a rebellion within the walls. Aaron's group are reunited with members from Oceanside, who inform the group of the Commonwealth's takeover. In the Commonwealth, Yumiko fights a losing battle to prove Eugene's innocence. Eugene begins to accept his fate as Yumiko makes a last appeal for help. The Alexandrians make a stand with the help of unexpected allies. Mercer makes a very clear declaration. 

#thewalkingdead #TWD Thanks to conflicting schedules, we are playing catchup (or are we delaying the inevitable?) on the last few episodes of the series. In this episode, titled “Outpost 22”, we figure out what the Commonwealth has done with our crew. Daryl and Carol follow the train to try to locate the kids, but find another hostage instead. Maggie, Gabriel, and Rosita escape their transport but are separated in the process. Negan, Ezekiel, and Kelly are sent to do hard labor. All crews work towards locating and rescuing their kids and people. The location of Outpost 22 is a surprising reveal.

Loyalties divide Mercer and Princess. Lance learns that his betrayal has unexpected consequences. Pamela makes the first move against the Alexandrians.  

#thewalkingdead Carol tells the others about her deal with Pamela. Pamela takes Lance into custody and uses him as a scapegoat for Sebastian's crimes. The Alexandrians make preparations to go home, but not everyone is planning to leave. Max and Eugene work on a plan to bring Sebastian down. Daryl seeks parenting advice. Lance shows that he is still a major player in Pamela's game. Judith voices her desire for a peaceful life. Lance's plan causes a deadly disruption during The Founder's Day celebration.

#houseofthedragon After a six-year time jump, the story starts to shift as we get closer to the Dance of the Dragons. With Lord Corlys suffering a life-threatening injury, his brother Vaemond sails for Kings Landing to challenge the succession of its seat. Princess Rhaenyra returns home to defend her son's legitimacy and status as heir to Driftmark, and finds her home completely different from when she left. The Hightowers all but rule the Seven Kingdoms as King Viserys' health has worsened. Rhaenyra pleads with her father to stand up and defend her. Viserys makes it known that he is still the King, and his word is law. The Targaryens and Hightowers make peace with each other for the King's sake, but that peace is short-lived. Queen Alicent's misinterpretation of the King's words will have dire consequences for the realm. King Viserys finds peace.

In this, the first of the final eight episodes of the series, Lance and his soldiers continue to track down Daryl, Maggie, Aaron, and Gabriel. The groups sends an ally to the Commonwealth to warn the rest of their people. Carol and Jerry team up to protect the kids from Lance's inside cronies. The people of the Commonwealth demand Sebastian's arrest for his crimes. Carol locates a hiding Sebastian and trades him to Pamela for the safety of her people. The Alexandrians try to figure out a way to save the people of the Commonwealth from the Miltons' corruption. A herd makes its way towards the Commonwealth. Lance falls for a trap.

#houseofthedragon This episode had it all: a wedding, a funeral, a dragon theft, a huge brawl, an attempted murder, and an actual murder - just another day in Westeros. The Targaryens and Velaryons gather at Driftmark to say goodbye to Lady Laena. Rhaenyra and Daemon bond over their lost loved ones. Prince Aemond finally claims a dragon, which leads to a major confrontation between Targaryens and Velaryons. Ser Laenor's desire to live a different life gives Rhaenyra the clarity she needs. Rhaenyra makes a huge decision to protect the future of her family. The lines between the Blacks and the Greens have been firmly drawn.

Mal gets help from an unusual source. As his Grisha make moves to take over the Palace, Kirigan prepares to show Ravka the powers of the Sun Summoner.

Her homecoming coincides with the return of Prince Daemon, whose presence grows more chaotic - especially when he decides  to introduce his niece to the ways of the world outside of the castle walls. Princess Rhaenyra takes control over her life and her fate, and her actions have both positive and negative effects in the lives of several members of the royal household. King Viserys issues an ultimatum to the Princess regarding her marital status, and she issues a challenge of her own. The King is forced to cut ties with someone close when he realizes he can no longer trust their judgement.

#houseofthedragon Approximately three years after his shocking announcement, the Realm prepares to celebrate the 2nd birthday of the King's young son, Aegon. As happy as the occasion is, King Viserys show visible frustration towards everyone who encourages him to supplant Rhaenyra with Aeron as heir. Meanwhile, in the Stepstones, Prince Daemon and Lord Corly are losing their war against the Crabfeeder, and the King is also being urged to make a decision regarding the war. Rhaenyra makes her feelings about marriage known after a Lannister makes a bold assumption. King Viserys attempts to clear the air and put an end to Rhaenyra's doubts. Daemon makes a bold move to ensure victory against the Crabfeeder for himself, and not the Crown.

In his anger, Lord Corlys proposes a dangerous alliance.

Known in this episode as Dee, we pick up with her and her daughter Lydia sometime after the death of her husband and their escape from the doomed basement we saw them in in Season 9. Roughly a year later, Dee and Lydia are living aboard an old cruise ship with other survivors. Dee doesn't like the way they are living, with the survivors clinging to the life they once knew instead of preparing for life the way it is. Dee's observant ways forces an unexpected conflict aboard the boat, and in the aftermath she must make a tough decision regarding her daughter and their survival. Before she can act, she is approached by new survivors that will alter the course of her life.

Not planning to go quietly, Jamie and Claire engage in a shootout to defend home and heart. On their way to Edenton, Roger and Brianna discover an answer to a years-old question. After agreeing that Jamie and Claire will travel together to seek a judge for Claire's trial, Tom Christie volunteers to accompany them to ensure their safety. However, with Brown and his crew declaring Claire a murderer in every town they come upon, the trip takes a nasty turn, ending with Jamie and Claire being torn apart. And with that, Droughtlander has begun.

#moonknight #marvel In the series (season?) finale, Marc makes a selfless decision that frees him and Steven from the Duat. As Harrow realizes his plan to free Ammit and becomes her avatar, Layla agrees to become Tawaret’s avatar in an effort to stop him. As she frees Khonshu, he feels Marc/Steven’s presence back in the living world. Battles ensue between the gods and their avatars. Khonshu keeps his promise to Marc/Steven, but has one final trick up his sleeve to deal with Harrow once and for all.

#outlander On this episode of the FHP, Hanako and Michele discuss the explosive sixth episode of Outlander, Season 6. A mystery illness pops up on the Ridge, killing dozens and making others sick. But when Claire and Tom Christie both get deathly ill with unrelated symptoms, she begins to wonder about the origin of the illness. The Christies appear at the Big House to bring some unbelievable news to the Frasers. Claire’s ether use gets out of hand, and the consequences will have a huge impact on everyone in the Ridge.

Our plans for an episode recording changed at the last minute, so the FHP decided to just kick back and hit the record button while we talk about whatever came to mind. Starting with some non-spoilery thoughts about the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, we veer into Star Wars, Stranger Things, DCEU, Legacies (Vampire Diaries) and other random topics.

#theboys The Boys are back in town! Season 3 comes in with an explosive start, figuratively and literally! At the movie release for Dawn of the Seven, we begin to see that things are not all right within The Seven, and Homelander's ill-fated romance with Stormfront is still a top news story, one year after her Nazi background was revealed. Butcher and the Boys continue to hunt supes down, but working within the law tests Billy's patience, especially when he is gifted something that could put him on an even playing field. As Billy continues to keep his promise to Becca by ensuring Ryan's safety, Mother's Milk has left the group altogether to try to put his family back together. Hughie's job with the Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs is going well, until he uncovers a huge secret about his boss. A power struggle is emerging between Stan Edgar and Homelander, with Starlight caught in the middle as everyone still tries to figure out how to handle Homelander. Meanwhile, all bets seem to be off as Homelander drops the fake nice guy act and begins showing everyone who he truly is. 

#outlander Hanako and Michele discuss episode S6E5 of Outlander. Jamie and Claire travel to Wilmington to listen to a speech from former Jacobite-turned-Loyalist Fiona MacDonald – known for helping Bonnie Prince Charlie escape Scotland after the failed Jacobite Rebellion. While there, Jamie is approached by the Sons of Liberty. Claire gets a brief, unexpected reminder of home. Jamie’s new allegiances causes some strain an old one.  On the Ridge, Roger’s willingness to help the Widow McCallum draws some criticism from Brianna. Malva’s true colors begin to reveal themselves after she is caught in a compromising position by Roger.  Brianna shares a secret with Roger and Marsali.

Khonshu and Marc summon the other gods to expose Harrow’s plan, but the plan backfires when Harrow is able to use Marc’s condition to manipulate the truth. Layla joins Marc in Cairo to help his search for Ammit’s tomb. Khonshu makes an unexpected sacrifice to help Steven and Layla locate the tomb.

This episode included an appearance by Gaspard Ulliel, who tragically passed away in a skiing accident several weeks before Moon Knight’s premiere. #RIP

#moonknight #marvel We’re back! After an almost month-long unexpected hiatus in which we dealt with real life and Covid (grrr), we are back with our recap and discussion of Moon Knight, episode 2. Coming to grips with the fact that he is sharing his body with another persona, Steven’s life gets more complicated when he comes face-to-face with not only Harrow – a man he believed was a figment of his imagination, but he also meets Marc’s wife, Layla – who has some questions about why her husband has been MIA for the last six months. Learning about Harrow’s ideology and what he plans to do to release the god Ammit, Steven and Marc must find a way to work together to stop Harrow from succeeding in his plans – all while trying to assert some independence from Khonshu.

While preparing the newly obtained guns for distribution to the Cherokee, Brianna tells her father of the future of the Native Americans. Jamie's encounter with another Indian representative gives him pause as he re-evaluates his position in the upcoming conflict. Back on the Ridge, Claire shows Malva how to administer ether for surgery, using Lizzie and Keziah as test subjects. Ian tells Jamie the sad story of what happened during his time with the Mohawk. Claire and Jamie's passionate reunion is unknowingly witnessed by Malva.

As Doctor Strange continues to deal with the impact and repercussions of his part in the Infinity Way, a multiverse traveler by the name of America Chavez appears, trying to escape from a demon determined to steal her powers of multiversal travel. As Doctor Strange puts everything on the line to protect this young girl, he faces opposition from an old acquaintance that literally turns his life inside out; Wanda is not coping very well after the events in Westview, and Strange finds that asking her for help may be more trouble than he intended. Traveling the multiverse while escaping the more powerful foe he's ever faced, Doctor Strange and America have to learn to trust each other if they are going to survive.

#outlander The Frasers must figure out a way to deal with rumors and ignorance on The Ridge when Henri-Christian is placed in danger. Fergus confesses to Claire his fear for Henri-Christian's life by recalling a horrible memory from his childhood living in the brothel. Tom decides to go through with the surgery on his hand, for extremely selfish reasons. Claire continues to be haunted by the image of Lionel Brown. Fergus takes drastic measures to fix his problems. The Redcoats bring the guns for the Cherokee, signaling to Claire that the start of the American Revolution is near.

#thewalkingdead #TWD It's the FINAL mid-season finale for The Walking Dead and this episode did not disappoint. Maggie, Elijah, Marco, and Lydia have not one, but two sets of Commonwealth soldiers after them; one led by Lance, and one led by Leah. Daryl, Aaron, and Gabriel defend themselves against an attack. Maggie makes a surprising admission to Negan. Eugene, Connie, Kelly, Magna, Ezekiel, and Max plot to expose the Commonwealth's dirty secrets. By the end of the episode, the lines are clearly drawn, and it's apparent that war is imminent.

Seeing that Aaron and Gabriel are the only survivors of Carlson's failed mission, Lance heads to the Hilltop on a mission of his own, and makes an enemy in the process. Back at the Commonwealth, Princess and Mercer get close, until Mercer puts up a wall. Eugene and Rosita enlist Connie, Kelly, and Max to help expose the Commonwealth's lies. Ezekiel pays his good-fortune forward. Lance recruits Leah to solve a mutual problem.

#marvel #moonknight Our discussion on the first episode of the new Marvel/Disney+ series, Moon Knight. Steven Grant (that's Steven, with a V) is a museum gift shop worker with a sleeping disorder whose life is turned upside down when he starts experiencing blackouts that leave him in some dangerous scenarios. Hearing a few new voices in his head doesn't help, especially when he comes across the path of a mysterious stranger who is determined to retrieve an artifact that Steven has somehow ended up with. 

#thewalkingdead #TWD As Carlson deals with the fallout of his actions against the residents of the apartment building, new enemies move in help defend against the Commonwealth soldiers. Maggie and Co. unexpectedly reunite with Negan, whose alliance with the building's residents brings about some very unexpected information.  Negan is forced to confess his sins to an unlikely source. Meanwhile, in the Commonwealth, Rosita and Daryl find themselves in a dangerous situation as a result of a run-in with Sebastian. Lance reveals some information that may place him on Carol's bad side. The thief who attached the Commonwealth convoy is revealed. 

#outlander In this episode of Outlander, Jamie's position as Indian Agent puts him in a tough spot as he learns about the future fate of the Cherokee. A strange funeral unexpectedly brings about more speculation about Claire. Fergus and Marsali have an emotional reconciliation as he helps her get through a troublesome birth. The birth of the new baby signals that tough times may not be over yet for the younger Frasers.

#thewalkingdead #twd In this episode, a mystery rider arrives at the gates of the Hilltop, injured and seeking help. After he dies, Maggie, Lydia, and Elijah head out to try to locate his group and provide assistance. In the Commonwealth, Aaron - who is now part of the Commonwealth's outreach team - recruits Father Gabriel to provide some assistance in reaching out to a religious group holed up on a run down apartment building. The two seemingly separate events lead to some unexpected reunions and some eye-opening insights into the Commonwealth and their dealings. With the Commonwealth, nothing is as what it seems. 

#outlander #DROUGHTLANDER IS FINALLY OVER!!! After 656 days, we are finally back on Fraser's Ridge with an extended 81-minute episode! An old prison mate of Jamie's makes a disruptive entrance onto the Ridge. Marsali and Fergus' marriage seems to be on shaky ground. The Crown wants Jamie to be their "Indian Representative", and Claire's newest invention will help the Ridge, but also helps her to deal with her PTSD from the attack.

#thewalkingdead #twd Pamela Milton makes her first trip across state lines to visit the communities of Alexandria, Oceanside, and Hilltop - which Maggie has relocated back to and is attempting to rebuild. Pamela and Maggie feel each other out, and Lance tries to convince Maggie to bring her people to the Commonwealth while they fix up the Hilltop. But, Maggie notices things that make her uneasy  about the decision she must make for her people.

#thewalkingdead #twd Eugene's newfound happiness in the Commonwealth is put to the test when Stephanie seemingly disappears after declaring their love for each other. After searching for her with Princess, Eugene makes a heartbreaking discovery. Carol shows her usefulness when she accompanies Lance on a trip outside the walls. Connie's determination to find out more about Tyler's claims of resistance lands her on an unwanted assignment with Mercer. Mercer finds out that he may not be as important as he thought in the Commonwealth hierarchy. Eugene meets the real face behind "Stephanie".

In this episode we also discuss our recent visit back to Senoia, where we participated in a golf cart tour of some filming locations; our efforts to record in front of the Alexandria location was thwarted by strong winds and technical difficulties, and we got a chance to meet and briefly chat with Seth Gilliam (Father Gabriel), who stopped into Nic & Norman's during the viewing party.

Recorded a week before the Season 6 premiere, Hanako is joined by special guest Michele, commonly known to FHP listeners as "The Person That Anthony Lives With, To Whom He's Related To By Marriage", and will be joining the show for the next seven weeks to discuss the loooooonnnng awaited return of Outlander. In this episode they discuss how they got into the series, their thoughts on Season 5 and what they hope to see in Season 6.

On this episode, we discuss the series finale (boo hoo!) of A Discovery of Witches. Armed with the power of the Book of Life, Diana goes to Poland to confront Benjamin and an unexpected Satu in order to rescue Matthew. Having learned the truth of Gerbert's treachery over the last several hundred years, Baldwin finally joins forces with the rest of the de Clermonts to locate Matthew, and bring the truth of the Book of Life to the Congregation. Gerbert's plea to Ysabeau falls on deaf ears. Chris and Miriam discover the missing piece of the creatures' declining numbers. A new head of the Congregation is voted upon. 

While this is one of our favorite shows, we all had a few complaints about the way the show closed out some storylines. However, overall we did enjoy the end of the show, and we hope that we will see more of these characters in future spinoffs.

This episode of The Walking Dead takes place a month after Lance's arrival in Alexandria, with most of our residents getting used to life in "regular" society. The kids get to experience a Halloween carnival, complete with a Haunted House (with real zombies). Daryl, Rosita, Carol, Ezekiel, Magna, and Connie have been placed in jobs that “suit their talents” (or was similar to what they did in the pre-walker world). Some relationships are mended, some have fallen apart, and some show signs of promise. But behind all of this "normalcy", there is an undercurrent of trouble as one of the Commonwealth's residents make a very public show of resistance, with chants of "Down with the Commonwealth". What have our people gotten themselves into?

There was also an Andrew Lincoln sighting in Atlanta! Rumor is, he’s here until the end of March (which is also when the final episodes will be shot and completed)– what does this mean for the show? After 4 years, will we finally get an appearance of Rick Grimes to close the show out?

Having discovered Philippe's watch in the coat Lena brings from her captivity, Matthew determines where Benjamin is hiding and seeks out his estranged son. Meanwhile, Diana decides it's time to head back to Oxford to seek out Ashmole 782. Gerbert makes unlikely alliances and also reveals to Domenico the true extent of his plans against the de Clermont family. The Book of Life is whole once again and reveals itself in a huge way to Diana. A confrontation with Peter Knox has heavy consequences. Before Matthew can put an end to him, Benjamin has an ally that saves the day. Benjamin sends Diana a message that threatens the future of her family.

#thewalkingdead #twd Welcome back to Season 11B! In the fallout from Pope's death and Leah's betrayal, Maggie, Negan, Gabriel, and Daryl fight for their lives with the remaining Reapers. After capturing Carver, Daryl tries to bargain with Leah for both of their family's survival. Gabriel's faith is challenged when he is confronted by the Reaper's priest. Leah and Maggie both make decisions that affect the fate of the Reapers. Maggie finally has an emotional breakdown when she loses another loved one. Negan makes the decision to leave the group. Maggie, Daryl, Gabriel, and Elijah return with food to a destroyed Alexandria, just in time to welcome back Eugene - who has returned with Lance and members of the Commonwealth guard with supplies. Lance makes the Alexandrians an offer for assistance. 

#adiscoveryofwitches #ADOW On this episode of the FHP, the de Clermont family drama takes center stage in the fifth episode of "A Discovery of Witches", season 3. All of the extended de Clermont family (with one notable exception) return to Sept-Tours for the christening of the twins. Baldwin's arrival at the chapel and his ill-timed ultimatum lead to a long-overdue confrontation between the brothers. The twins begin to reveal a little of themselves to their parents and Jack. Meanwhile, Benjamin puts his plan into place, revealing a crucial detail that is sure to challenge Matthew's control. In the aftermath of Baldwin's reluctant approval of Matthew's scion, the Knights of Lazarus is reestablished, with new members rounding out all four species.

#birthdayepisode #battlebeyondthestars We finish out our 2021 Birthday episodes with Anthony's pick, the 1980 Sci-Fi film, Battle Beyond the Stars. After his peace-loving planet is threatened by the space conqueror Sador, a young farmer named Shad goes into space to recruit a group of mercenaries to fight Sador's army and protect the planet Akir. Keeping in mind that this is a film from the 80s (which means there are lots of problematic aspects based on today's standards), watching and discussing this film was a lot of fun.

Phoebe finds a huge clue into the whereabouts of the third page. Gallowglass makes a huge confession. Matthew arrives back in England just in time to welcome the twins into the world.

#smokinaces Continuing to work through a backlog of fun episodes, we finally get around to posting Hanako's birthday episode from last year. Smokin' Aces is a 2006 film that tells the story of a Las Vegas entertainer-turned-mafia crime boss wannabe-turned FBI information, Buddy Israel, and the many people who are trying to kill him to collect a hefty bounty. The movie is as funny as it is bloody and has one of the best ensemble casts playing some of the best characters ever (Jeremy Piven, Ryan Reynolds, Ray Liotta, Andy Garcia, Ben Affleck, Chris Pine, Taraji P. Henson, Common, Alicia Keys - seriously, it's a great cast. Go check it out!

In this episode of A Discovery of Witches, Marcus appeals to his New Orleans family in regard to the new scion, but is met with resistance at every turn. Matthew's plan to keep Jack's presence quiet fails as Ransome - the current leader of the New Orleans family - makes an introduction. Matthew places himself in harm's way in order to show the New Orleans vampires that he is a changed man.  

Meanwhile, back in England, Diana tracks down the second missing page, while Phoebe gains on the locations of the third. Sarah feels alone and helpless but is talked out of returning home by Fernando and Gallowglass. Gerbert begins to put a plan in motion, and Benjamin reaches out to Satu to work together.

#adiscoveryofwitches #adow The crew discusses the second episode of A Discovery of Witches, Season 3. The reappearance of Father Hubbard reveals some long-kept secrets and brings about an unexpected reunion for Matthew and Diana. The identity of the blood-raged vampire is revealed, which causes complications and lines drawn between the de Clermont brothers. Diana and Satu both exhibit strengthened power and resolve when they are challenged. Gerbert forms an unlikely alliance. Matthew considers Marcus' plea for a scion, but must first answer for his past in order to move forward.

#harrypotter In our first recorded episode of 2022, Hanako, Anthony, and Mike discuss all things Harry Potter. We talk about the recently released special "Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts", and talk about how we got into the fandom, our likes and dislikes about the reunion special and the series/films, and the impact the series has had on our geeky lives.

#hawkeye Hanako, Anthony, and Michael discuss the series finale (?) of Hawkeye. Kingpin makes one helluva entrance as Eleanor Bishop announces her intent to cease working for him in order to protect Kate. Kate learns the depth of her mother's crimes and must now make a decision about what to do. Maya's request for time away to "clear her head" does not sit well with "uncle", as he tells Kazi that the situation needs to be handled. Major confrontations take place during the Bishop Christmas party as Clint and Kate, Jack, Yelena, Maya, Kingpin, and the Tracksuits all have scores to settle with each other. Yelena finally gets the answers she needs from Clint about her sister's death. Clint finally makes it home in time for Christmas. 

Make sure you watch the end credits for a full performance from "Rogers: The Musical".

#hawkeye In the penultimate episode for the series, we get a cold opening scene of Yelena's blip and return. She breaks into Kate's apartment to have a heart-to-heart talk while also informing Kate that she is Natasha's sister and plans to kill Clint. Clint arranges a meeting with Echo and reveals himself to her as Ronin, providing her with information about who hired him to kill her father. Yelena reveals to Kate who contracted her to kill Clint, and sends Kate a photo of her mother meeting with the notorious Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio, confirming that his character from the Netflix show Daredevil is indeed canon in the MCU). As Mike says, Kingpin confirmed!

#spidermannowayhome Hanako, Anthony, and Mike (with a cameo from Kacey) discuss the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Picking up immediately after the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Mysterio's reveal of Spider-Man's secret identity causes some difficulties in the lives of Peter and his loved ones. Feeling guilty about the negative effect this has had on MJ and Ned, Peter seeks help from Dr. Strange, and ends up creating more chaos than originally planned. This film reunites long-time Spider-Man fans with a few familiar faces, and brings the Tom Holland trilogy to a nostalgic and emotional ending in the MCU.

The fourth episode of #Hawkeye has the FHP crew asking a lot of questions and making a few theories that sound farfetched at first, but may make sense by the end of the series. Jack and Eleanor have mixed reactions when they find out that Kate is working with Hawkeye on a project. Eleanor make her feelings for the project clear to Clint, in a not-so-very-nice way. Clint get some intel about the Tracksuits from a very unlikely source. Kate brings a little bit of Christmas cheer to Clint, and he opens up a little about Natasha. Kate enlists the LARPers to recover Clint's trick arrows. While tracking down a lead on the stolen Rolex watch, Clint and Kate are attacked by not one, but two enemies with different agendas. 

In the third episode of the Disney+ series Hawkeye, we get an introduction to Maya Lopez, a.k.a. Echo, as we see scenes from her childhood through adulthood, when she witnesses The Ronin kill her father. As Clint and Kate escape from Maya and the Tracksuit Mafia, Kate shows off her impressive archery skills while Clint shows off his impressive driving skills. Kath and Clint reach a sort of understanding that they must work together to find out who Maya's "Uncle" is, the person who commands the Tracksuit Mafia. As Kate and Clint search Bishop Securities' database for answers, Clint is confronted by Jack - wielding his old Ronin sword.  

On this episode of the FHP, Hanako, Anthony, and Mike discuss the premiere episodes of the new Disney+ series, Hawkeye. Taking place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, we catch up with Clint Barton as he tries to rebuild his life after the losses he suffered. During a holiday trip to NY to bond with his recently-returned children, Clint's trip gets cut short when a young college kid named Kate accidently causes a stir when she gets ahold of his old Ronan suit. Kate, who has idolized Hawkeye since childhood after seeing him fighting off Chitauri soldiers, has troubling matters of her own to deal with, which connect her unexpectedly with her hero. Chaos ensues. 

On this episode of the podcast, we finally get to talk about one of Lorrie's favorites, Dune. This film, based on the 1965 novel by Frank Herbert, tells the story of the conflict between House Harkonnen and House Atreides, and the events that take place on the spice planet Arrakis. Lots of references to the 1984 version of the film, and some book spoilers (Lorrie will record a separate episode that will be a deep-dive on all things Dune). 

The Walking Dead: World Beyond has returned for its second and final season and we pick up where we left off at the end of last season:. Hope and Huck are taken away in a CRM helicopter with Elizabeth, but before she can be reunited with her father, Elizabeth sets Hope loose on her own so that she can decide for herself whether she is ready to commit to the CRM and their mission. Newly reunited with a fugitive Will, Felix and Hope are introduced to the Perimeter Community, where they take the time to regroup and decide what to do next. The group finds out in different ways about the fate of Omaha and the Campus Colony. Elizabeth makes it clear to Huck that she can only have allegiance to one side. Having faced some of her fears, Hope is brought to the CRM and finally reunited with Leo. Iris confronts the real enemy - first in her dreams, and then in person - with deadly results. 

Finally!! After some real-life interruptions (booo!), we are back with our recap and discussion of the season finale of Marvel's What If...? series. The Watcher interferes justalittlebit - enough to pluck heroes (and one or two questionable allies) from various universes to deal with the threat of UltraVision - the name Mike came up with for this version of Ultron. The Guardians of the Multiverse have come up with a sound plan to defeat Ultron, but will it be enough? With some surprises in store during the episode (and finally - a mid-credits scene at the end!), we conclude the first season in an unexpected way, laying the groundwork for a possible season 2).

How are we already on a hiatus??? Tonight's episode of The Walking Dead is the first of two mid-season finales for the final season, as the show closes out for 2021. Maggie, Negan, and the others march their walker herd straight to the gates of Meridian. Pope shows a singular focus in trying to defeat his enemy, putting the lives of his people at unnecessary risk. Leah begins to voice her doubts about Pope to Daryl. Maggie and Gabriel wreak havoc inside the walls of Meridian. Leah and Daryl establish their loyalties in a huge way. Meanwhile, back in Alexandria, the community struggles to protect themselves against a monstrous storm. Virgil gives Judith some much needed insight. Rosita reminds the group that she is a badass. Gracie and Judith find themselves in danger. 

The Walking Dead will return on February 20, 2022 (Feb. 13 for AMC+ subscribers) with a second 8-episode arc. (This information was released after the recording of this episode).

In the penultimate episode of Marvel’s What If…? series, we are forced to ponder the question, “What If…Ultron won?” Picking up from the previous episode, we see the consequences of Tony Stark’s attempt to “place a shield around the world” if it had gone a different way. Imagine a world where Ultron not only had Vision’s body, but all of the Infinity Stones as well. With much of the regular universe destroyed, Ultron’s attention is turned to another being and the infinite possibilities of other worlds destroyed. In order to defeat Ultron, one sacrifices their life for the greater good, and another must break an oath and seek assistance from an unlikely source. In a world of what ifs, anything can happen.

In this episode of The Walking Dead, our groups have to deal with lots of conflicts in order to move forward with getting much-needed help for Alexandria. After being chased into the woods, Maggie and Elijah encounter a face from the past. Maggie comes up with a plan to get to Meridian undetected, and it will require some instruction from Negan, which leads to some uncomfortable conversation between the two. Gabriel's scouting in Meridian leads to a moment of self-reflection when he observes another man of the cloth. Elijah's hopes for a reunion with his sister does not turn out as planned. In the Commonwealth, Eugene, Ezekiel, Princess, and Stephanie pay the price for breaking the rules. Yumiko bargains to work as an attorney in exchange for assistance for Alexandria, but she faces complications once her brother is taken in custody. Eugene finds himself in a precarious situation after saving, then attacking, an important member of the Commonwealth community. Daryl and Leah find themselves on Pope's short list, and a mission to find Maggie's group leads them to a situation that compromises Leah's loyalty to the Reapers.

It should be illegal to laugh so much in one hour.

Join us as we discuss the seventh (and only lighthearted) episode of the Marvel's What If...? series, questionably titled "What If...Thor Was An Only Child?" In this version of the universe, Odin does not bring Loki back to Asgard with him, leaving him on Jotenheim to be raised by the Frost Giants. Raised as an only child, a spoiled Thor ducks his royal duties as his father enters the Odinsleep, and instead comes to Midguard (Earth) to throw the party to end all parties. The guest list is a Who's Who of darn near everyone in the Marvel Universe - alien and Earthling alike (including his brother-from-another-mother, Frost Giant Loki). When Thor's partying gets out of hand, it takes a few women - powerful in their own way - to get him to clean up his act. All seems well...until a visit from a strange being puts even The Watcher on edge.

CONNIE IS BACK!!!! Is there really anything else you need to know about this episode? Oh wait, I guess some other important stuff happened too :)

Running away from some unknown threat, Connie and Virgil emerge from the woods and seek shelter in an abandoned house. When Connie's instincts confirm that they are not alone, they are separated and forced to fight a new and dangerous threat. Having learned that her sister may still be alive and near, Kelly sets off on a solo hunt to find her, only to be joined later by Carol, Magna, and Rosita. Back at Meridian, Frost appears to give Pope a location for where Maggie and her crew may be hiding. As Leah leads a team to find them, Daryl has to find a way to warn Maggie without blowing his cover. Back at the creepy house, Connie and Virgil fight their way to safety and come across some unexpected allies. Daryl and Leah find themselves on the outside looking in.

Tony...Tony...Tony! What are we going to do with you? The question is answered in the sixth episode of the Marvel's What If...? series, as we see the domino effect of what happens if Erik Killmonger had saved Tony Stark from being kidnapped. Without the lessons learned after being kidnapped in Iron Man, Tony remains the arrogant, narcissistic, playboy billionaire still trying to live up to and surpass the legacy left behind by his father. Having saved Tony in the desert, and subsequently outing Obadiah Stane as the mastermind behind Tony's kidnapping, Killmonger secures his place as Tony's Head of Security and right hand man - to the dismay and distrust of Happy and Pepper. Promising at first, the results of this partnership has long-reaching consequences for all involved.

There's so much to discuss about this episode of The Walking Dead. Aaron is having nightmares about the collective enemies the group has faced over the years, and it begins to take a toll on his behavior. After walkers breach the failing wall, Aaron, Jerry, Lydia, Carol, and Rosita head out to Hilltop to see if there are any tolls to be salvaged to help rebuild the wall. They come across some stray Whisperers, and things get a bit out of control, until Carol steps in to be the voice of reason. As they leave, the receive a hopeful bit of news about one of their missing members. Back at Alexandria, Judith finds herself the victim of bullying by some of the older kids, and she expresses her fear of being alone to Rosita. While looking for supplies to fix a cherished broken object, they get a radio call from Eugene at the Commonwealth, just before he is caught and arrested for improper use of government property. Mercer and Princess share an awkward but promising interaction. Yumiko finds what she is looking for. Negan and Maggie clash in an uncomfortable confrontation. Eugene, Ezekiel, and Princess face punishment by the Commonwealth, until a possible ally steps in.

BRAINS!!!!! Not many of them left in this episode of Marvel's What If...? When Bruce Banner is hurled back to Earth to warn of Thanos' impending arrival, he finds Earth (and his fellow Avengers) very different from the way he left them. A zombie virus born in the Quantum Realm finds its way onto our plane of existence after Hank Pym's (this dude AGAIN!!!) attempt to retrieve his wife produces deadly consequences. A small group of our heroes try to get to an old S.H.I.E.L.D. base to find a cure, but incur heavy losses and encounter unexpected obstacles during their mission. This episode was fun, but let's just say we are all tired of Hank Pym being the cause of the Avengers' deaths!

In this episode of The Walking Dead, we see the aftermath of the Reaper attack from Daryl's point of view. As he and Dog go after one of the Reapers, they are again attacked and separated. As Daryl searches for Dog, he runs into someone else from his past instead. Taken captive by the Reapers, Daryl is tortured for information and then put through a trial by fire in order to meet Pope, the mysterious leader of the Reapers. Not knowing the status of anyone else in his group, Daryl plays lone wolf in order to gain the Reapers' trust so that he can gather whatever information may help him and his group out. But Daryl quickly learns that Pope is not a man to break trust with, and must walk a very thin line to stay safe.

Hanako also talks about her Dragon Con experience of meeting Ross Marquand (Aaron), Seth Giliam (Father Gabriel), and Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha).

The ambush by the Reapers (which Kacey and I erroneously keep referring to as Ravagers in the show – blame Marvel’s What If…?) leaves Maggie and her group scattered. After escaping to an abandoned mall, she is forced to work with Negan as Reapers leave some of her reunited group gravely injured. Back at Alexandria, Aaron and Carol disagree about what missions need to take priority for everyone’s safety. Magna, Carol, Kelly, and Rosita bond while searching for the community’s missing horses. Judith, RJ, Herschel, and Gracie reflect on their parents and their own experiences. Gabriel comes to a life-changing decision as he confronts one of the Reapers. Maggie and Negan are forced to leave Alden behind as they move forward with their mission to overtake Meridian.

Having survived after Negan left her to die, Maggie rejoins the group trapped in the train car and confronts him about his actions. Later on, Maggie has to make a tough decision regarding one of the members of the group, and this leads to an uncomfortable confession. In his search for Dog, Daryl reflects as he finds the remnants of an underground shelter from the days after the fall.

At the Commonwealth, Yumiko asserts her own sense of authority and makes some headway with the assessors. Ezekiel, Princess, and Eugene make their own way through the Commonwealth's processing, and all four are reunited and officially welcomed to the Commonwealth by Mercer, and by Stephanie - Eugene's long-distance radio love.

After escaping from the subway tunnels, the group heads to one of Maggie's safe houses to replenish supplies, but they are attacked by a small group of Ravagers.

On this episode of the FHP, Hanako, Anthony, and Mike discuss the second episode of the Disney+ series, Marvel's What If...? This episode is a bittersweet one, as it features a voiceover appearance from the late Chadwick Boseman in one of his final appearances as the Wakandan Prince, T'Challa. Young T'Challa has the heart of an adventurer and when he leaves the safety of the dome protecting Wakanda to retrieve his spear, his world is turned upside down when he is picked up by Kraglin and Taser Face, who mistake him for a young Peter Quill. T'Challa is taken to Yondu, and after expressing interest in exploring the stars, he becomes Yondu's ward, and with the Ravagers, they set about to save the universe. This episode features several surprising appearances, and is hilarious enough from start-to-finish to keep you from being saddened at the thought of the "what ifs" of the MCU had Boseman survived his years-long fight with cancer. The beautiful tribute at the end, however, will hit you in the feels.

On this episode of the Fandom Hybrid Podcast, Hanako and Kacey discuss the return of The Walking Dead. In the season 11 premiere, tensions within the Alexandria group are starting to show and they struggle to keep everyone fed in the aftermath of last season's Whisperer attack on the communities. With the Hilltop and Maggie's group adding to the numbers, Maggie tells the group about her prior home, Meridian, and recalls the Ravager attack that left them homeless and led to her eventual return. , Maggie leads a group to try to take back Meridian (in order to get their food, supplies, and resources), but run into some difficulties on the journey, including a long overdue confrontation with Negan. Having made both of their thoughts known to everyone, the group (of course) gets cornered by a small herd, which leads to life-threatening danger for one of the group.

In another city, Ezekiel's group are questioned by the advisors of The Commonwealth, and they are not comfortable with what they see. As they attempt to escape, they find a sign that someone from Yumiko's past may be within the Commonwealth's walls.

Alina learns the truth about the Fold from an unlikely source. Revelations at the Winter Fete puts everyone in unfamiliar and dangerous circumstances. Kirigan is betrayed by someone close to him. Destinies become intertwined in unexpected ways.

Sylvie and Loki's appearance before the Time Keepers reveals a shocking truth. Renslayer finds herself in a compromising position, while Loki is forced to deal with a different reality.

Kaz, Inej, Jesper, and Arken start to finalize their plans for getting into the little palace.  Alina frees herself so that she can fully focus on her Grisha training. Mal's mission is ultimately successful, but extracts a heavy price.

On this episode of the FHP, we discuss the third episode of the Disney + series, Loki. Having followed the Loki variant through a portal, Loki finds himself back at the TVA as the variant tries to locate the Time Keepers. Using a TemPad to escape Judge Renslayer's attempts to prune them, the Lokis find themselves on planet Lamentis, whose destruction is imminent, judging by the planet that is on a slow collision course. Loki and the variant - who goes by the name Sylvie - learn a little about each other as they attempt to find a way to get off of the planet before it is destroyed. However, things don't quite go the way they planned, and even as Loki picks up a few new magic tricks, it seems to be not enough to save them. Oh, and Sylvie also divulges to Loki that the TVA is made up of variants that were stolen from the Sacred Timeline. Oops.

On this episode of the Fandom Hybrid Podcast, the full crew gets together to talk about the long awaited, highly anticipated theatrical release of Marvel Studio's Black Widow. In this film (which takes place after the events of Captain America, Civil War), Natasha is on the run after violating the Sokovia Accords. As she goes off the grid for some much needed time for self-reflection, a near-death experience over a mysterious package sends her on a journey to confront the demons of her past, reuniting with her estranged "family" and finally breaking herself free of the burdens that have held her back in her new life.

On this episode of the Fandom Hybrid Podcast, we switch things up a bit as Hanako, Anthony, Mike, and Kacey team up to talk about the latest installment in The Fast Saga, F9. Taking place a several years after the last film (where Dom learned that he had fathered a child with Elena during Letty’s “death”), Dom, Letty, and Little Brian are living a seemingly blissful life off the grid, until trouble comes calling in the form of Roman, Tej, and Ramsey. Mr. Nobody’s plane has been hijacked – along with his high profile prisoner-in-transport, Cipher – and Dom and Letty join up with the rest of their family to get to the bottom of things. Unexpectedly, a long-lost Toretto has entered the fold, and he means to take Dom down by any means necessary. As Mia rejoins the team to try to help settle things between her two brothers, the film once again reiterates that nothing is more important than family – even in the midst of ridiculous shenanigans, unbelievable stunts, and a whole lot of silly fun.

On this episode of the Fandom Hybrid Podcast, we discuss the second episode of the Disney+ series Loki. Loki "joins" the TVA to assist in tracking down the dangerous Loki Variant. The Variant kills another hunt team, but kidnaps the lead hunter. Loki gives clues as to what the Variant is thinking, and figures out how to track them down. In a future pending apocalypse, the Loki Variant reveals itself in a major way. The TVA is compromised, and Loki goes after the Variant, leaving Mobius behind to deal with the fallout of the Variant's actions.

On this episode of the FHP, we discuss the penultimate season one episode of Invincible. Both Nolan and Mark deal with the fallout of keeping secrets from the people they love. The motives for Robot's questionable behavior and actions are finally revealed. William and Eve try to counsel Mark through the mess he has made of his love life. While Mark tries to pick up the pieces, Nolan is finally confronted with the truth. Debbie learns that sometimes the truth comes at a heavy price. Robot gives a bewildering confession to the Guardians. Mark comes face-to-face with an unexpected threat.

On this episode of the FHP, we discuss the series premiere of Loki. This series begins during the time heist scene of Avengers: Endgame, where Iron Man, Captain America, and Ant-Man return to Stark Tower after the Battle of New York to try to take the Tesseract. In the ensuing chaos, Loki uses the Tesseract to escape and finds himself confronted by members of the TVA (Time Variance Authority), who arrest him for "disturbing the Sacred Timeline". This episode introduces us to the TVA and its agents, led by Agent Mobius, who are all on the hunt of a dangerous time variant who is moving through time, killing agents and stealing reset charges. We learn about the history of Time and the Time-Keepers, who oversee all of the timelines and uses the TVA to keep order.

In this episode of the Fandom Hybrid Podcast, we discuss episode 6 of Invincible. Mark, Black Sampson, and Monster Girl fight for their lives. Once recovered, Mark tries to live a normal teenage life for once. Black Sampson's recovery comes with a welcome surprise. Monster Girl's recovery reveals more about Robot. On a college tour, an attack on campus puts some strain on Mark's relationship with William and Amber. Debbie seeks answers, and doesn't like what she finds. Alina makes some new friends in the Little Palace, including the King's spiritual advisor, who gives her some information that may be useful later on. As she begins her training, Alina continues to write to Mal, revealing more of her true feelings for him in her letters. The Conductor leads the Crows on a perilous journey

As Mark continues to fail with his time management skills, he befriends an old adversary who needs help getting out of a tough spot. Nolan cautions Mark about using his skills for things that are "beneath" him. Debbie continues to investigate her husband, with a little nudge from an unexpected source. We get a huge nerd meta moment with an appearance from the principal of Mark's school. The new Guardians of the Globe are forced to come together when the safety of their own is threatened. Against the advice from his father, Mark gets a very painful lesson in "Father Knows Best".

On this episode of the Fandom Hybrid Podcast, we discuss the second episode of the Netflix series Shadow and Bone. In the aftermath of the Volcra attack in the Fold, Alina's life is forever changed when she is revealed to be the long-prophesied Sun Summoner. After Alina is whisked away to the Little Palace, Mal fights to be reunited with her. Kaz is determined to find a way through the Fold to take on Dessen's job, even though it puts him at odds with Inej. We learn more about General Kirigan, the power of the Grisha, and the Drüskelle (Grisha hunters). Alina struggles to settle into her new environment. Kaz has a run-in with a couple of old friends, and is moved to extremes to secure Inej's temporary freedom for the job at task.

On this episode of the FHP, we discuss the fourth episode of Invincible. We start out the episode with a nod to The Mummy when an ancient God is resurrected for reasons yet unknown. Mark and Nolan continue to train and bond, while Debbie's visit with Olga adds to her growing doubts about Nolan. Mark gets more than he bargained for on two fronts when he navigates his first official date with Amber, followed by being sent on a covert mission to Mars that has some disastrous results. As the remaining Mauler Brother begins to work on creating another clone, we learn that Robot may have his own, personal reasons for setting the Mauler Brothers free. Cecil lays his cards on the table with Damien Darkblood when his snooping becomes problematic.

As Earth is attacked by an alien race called The Flaxons, Mark's attempt at his first large-scale mission proves that he is not fully prepared for the realities of being a superhero. A new superhero team, The Teen Team, makes their debut. Nolan recovers from his injuries, but something still seems off about his behavior. Omni-Man shows the Flaxons why an invasion of Earth is not a good idea while he is around.

On this episode of the Fandom Hybrid Podcast, we discuss the penultimate episode (sad face!) of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.  As John Walker faces the consequences of his actions, Sam does some soul-searching to figure out what he wants his narrative to be - both at home and as a superhero. Bucky rights a wrong and closes one chapter in his life, and when he makes a delivery to Sam, we see some healing and an understanding form between the two formerly reluctant allies. Sharon puts an asset into play that makes us question her motives, and Karli and the Flag Smashers put their plan into motion to stop the GRC from passing the Patch Act. On this episode of the Fandom Hybrid Podcast, we found a new show to discuss: the Amazon Prime animated series Invincible, based on the comic books series of the same name, written by Robert Kirkman. Invincible tells the story of Mark Grayson, an awkward teenage boy who is half-human, half-Viltrumite. His father is Omni-Man, one of the superhero protectors of Earth; there are other heroes in this episode (called the Guardians of the Globe). This episode introduces us to the complexities of not only being a newly powered teenager trying to balance high school life with a desire to be a superhero, but also shows us that the life of a "superhero" is not always what it seems.

This show boasts a "who's who" of voice talent: Steven Yeun (ahem, excuse me - 2021 Best Actor nominee Steven Yeun!), Lauren Cohan, Ross Marquand, Chad Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green, Lennie James, and Michael Cudlitz - who have all worked on another little show Kirkman did called The Walking Dead; Sandra Oh, J.K.
