Ep. 54: Why "Building Your Life Raft" Is Crucial For Your Weight Loss Success
“You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.”
—Jim Rohn
The truth is, if you involve yourself in a relationship that doesn’t serve you, you’re not serving the other person either because you’re not allowing yourself to be the best version of yourself, which is ultimately a disservice to the people around you. In this episode, we go through some research that showcases how our success is so closely linked to the people around us. We talk about how our habits, behaviours, judgement, inspiration, and thoughts are all influenced by our closest friends and family.
"Building Your Life Raft" is a section in my upcoming book Hustle But Health: The 5 Pillars of Sustainable Wellness & Weight Loss For Busy Women which comes out January 31st.

Ep. 53: Getting into the "Get Sh*t Done" Mindset
We may wear it on a shirt, but we know "just do it" isn't the greatest piece of advice out there. Especially for a busy woman. We've got enough on our plates to have someone tell us, "just go get it done."
In this episode, after Michelle and I catch up for a few, we get into the strategies we use with our clients to help them get into the "Get Shit Done" mindset.
Let's get into each one!

Ep. 52: Bringing Humanity Into Health & Weight Loss
I started BODZii in 2016. As it's developed as an online business in the world of social media, I've been navigating through all of the different beliefs and thought camps when it comes to how to live the healthiest life.
As you probably know, the biggest struggle as a woman on her health and weight loss journey is a) getting the correct information and b) acting on that information. I've spent the last 6 years filtering through all the information out there and have my own belief on what the healthiest lifestyle looks like.
Today I want to share that with you.

Ep. 51: How to have the "health" conversation with friends and family
Let's talk about the uncomfortable conversation of health and weight loss.
Have you ever felt the *ICK* about having that awkward conversation with a friend or family member about how you're trying to make better choices in your diet? Or starting to work out?
Maybe you have a friend that's been offering you takeout, and you don't want to say "no" because you're a people pleaser.
Maybe you feel guilty about shaming someone else. You don't want to be seen as someone who is "dieting" cause... ew... dieting.
With the war between diet and wellness culture (juice cleanses, Healthism, food restriction) and self-love culture (Health at every size, body-positivity), it's very challenging trying to figure out where you "live"
Michelle and I dive deep into how we approach this conversation, how we, as coaches, are constantly learning, and tips on how you can navigate this conversation yourself with your friends and family. Or who knows, maybe this is just a great internal conversation to have with yourself as you try and figure yourself out along your road to the BEST you!
This is a great episode to listen to on a walk, so get those earbuds in.

Ep. 50: Balancing Wellness & Busy Schedules w/ Meghan Jarvis
If there's someone who can talk to you about managing your health while running a busy lifestyle, it's Meghan!
A former World Class BMX bicycle racer, Meghan moved to Australia to play professional basketball and stayed as a lead lecturer at the Australian Institute of Fitness.
Meghan's passion for fitness and entrepreneurialism led her to found WellCorp Health and Wellness and Buzvil, a global health and fitness app. She most recently appeared as an actor and stunt woman in the new Blockbuster 'Elvis', the Portable Door, Aqua Man and has been a 'Ninja' on Channel Nine's Australian Ninja Warrior. She is also the head of Total Gym Fitness Equipment Australia, Suspension Training and Altitude Training International Master Coach, making her an authority on peak performance and an international speaker. Her experiences as an athlete, educational portfolio (Masters of Education and Coaching Science, Kinesiologist, Sports Scientist), entrepreneurial ventures, and enthusiastic character have shaped her as a formidable leader in health and fitness.
We talk about :
- Finding confidence through sport and getting out of your comfort zone
- How to perceive your busy schedule and change your mindset to prioritize your health
- Incorporating wellness into the workspace and taking small actionable steps
Get your earbuds in and get your walk in! This is a great episode.

Ep. 49: Dietitian Debora Sloan on Understanding Your Aging Body
There's so much unsaid about that "holy shit what's going on with me" stage of life that when women do get there, they're left feeling lost, overwhelmed, and frustrated by their pants not fitting the same way and their sleep completely out of whack.
And that's just naming two of the hundreds of symptoms associated with peri-menopause/menopause.
Now if you're reading this and nodding your head, know that it's totally normal for you to feel hopeless. But also know that there's a way you can take back control of your seemingly RUNNING WILD body and hormones so that you can lose unwanted body fat, and feel stronger and more energized than ever.
In this episode, we have BODZii in-house dietitian Debora Sloan on to talk about exactly that - gaining back control. As always, we don't like to beat around the bush or overcomplicate things. And Deb is so good at doing exactly that. No bullshi*t, straight truth!
We'll talk about
- strength training
- common feelings/symptoms of aging
- being realistic about our goals and progress
and so much more.
As always, put your earbuds in and play this while getting your steps in.

Ep. 48: Alcohol And It's Affects On Your Weight Loss Journey
About 2 months ago we did a Healthy Girl Summer podcast episode and talked about alcohol in the first few minutes. We tried not to get into it for too long as we wanted to dedicate an entire episode to the subject. So FINALLY it's here.
Let's talk about:
Put this episode in your ears and get out for a walk!

Ep. 47: Raising Healthy & Happy Kids w/ Veronica La Marca, RD
This is the second time Veronica has been on our show and for a reason! Her last episode was so popular that we wanted to bring her back and get her to chat more with us about how we can raise a happy and healthy family.
On your weight loss journey, it's so important you prioritize yourself and your meal time. But doing that while having picky eaters or kids who struggle with meal time can be hectic. On this episode, we talk about how we can make meal time easier for us all.
We'll dive into:
- Common phrases we say around children that may be getting them to act or think in a negative way towards food.
- How we can make sure that our kid grows up with a positive mindset toward food.
- What actions can we take as parents to enforce healthy eating habits and behaviours
Dive right in and get listening! This one goes out to all the moms and moms-to-be out there.

Ep. 46: Take Ownership of Your Health w/ Dr. Jen Crichton & Dr. Kwadwo Kyeremanteng
I’ll just say this - you’re not going to want to miss this episode.
If one of your goals is to take your long-term health into your own hands and create a lifestyle that fosters sustainable weight loss, fitness and health, this is for you.
We have the host of Solving Healthcare - a podcast series launched in September 2019 by the Resource Optimization Network. Led by Dr. Kwadwo Kyeremanteng, a palliative care & intensive care doctor based in Ottawa. His podcasts feature interviews and discussions on the topic of improving healthcare delivery in Canada. I also have my Dr. Jen Crichton, MD, family doctor and someone else who’s passionate about preventative care and making our world a fitter and healthier place. She also happens to be my sister-in-law!
We talk about our health care system, what we can do to help, how we can better take care of our long-term health, and why it’s our responsibility to prioritize our health for the sake of relieving our overworked and overwhelmed healthcare system here in Canada.

Ep. 45: Dressing For Your Body Type w/ Barbara Aleks
“I want to lose weight so I can fit back into all my clothes!”
Here’s the thing about this statement…
1 - I get it! It’s frustrating and sometimes just sad when we trying to wiggle into a pair of jeans and no longer can.
2 - This statement isn’t going to help you along your weight loss journey.
If you’re feeling a bit sluggish, slobby, or hate everything you wear, you shouldn’t be waiting for the right time, moment or number on the scale to dress a certain way. You can do that right now.
Every single day we teach women how to love and appreciate their bodies exactly for where they are right now. Once you can do that, you’ll have a much easier time doing the things your body needs to see results because you’re coming from a place of love for yourself.
We sit down with Barbara Aleks, a professional stylist from Toronto Ontario with over 800K followers on TikTok! Barbara is the queen of knowing how to dress your body type especially when going through a transformation or weight fluctuation.
Barbara is all about dressing for your body NOW and how we do that even though our body may be going through changes in an inexpensive way.
We’re so excited to share this episode with you.

Ep. 44 - You Can't Press Pause On Your Health
“I’m going on vacation and will start when I get back… I’ll start once my baby is born…I’ll resume after my Mom gets out of the hospital…or on Monday…or once I’m done school.” It all seems very reasonable. But it also could be what’s ruining your health and fitness. Here’s why and what we can do about it.
I get asked VERY often “Can I just pause my membership for a couple of weeks so I get X sorted out?”
After all, what’s the harm in letting clients/patients take a break from a nutrition and fitness plan when they’re leaving for vacation, completely swamped at work, pregnant, or just after delivery, injured, or caring for an ailing family member?
For a client, the thought process boils down to:
If I miss some workouts, eat the wrong things, skip the homework… I fail.
Aren’t I more likely to succeed if I take a break, just until I have the time to do it right?
This is what I call the ‘pause-button mentality’.
In this episode, Michelle and Robyn discuss why we can't move forward in our health with an all or nothing mentality, and how, instead, we can dial things down, or up, depending on how much is on our plate!

Ep. 43: Healthy Girl Summer!
It's the second year in a row we dedicate a full episode on how to manage your weight loss and healthy journey while summer is in full swing. The drinks are flowing, food is on the BBQ, it's wedding season, kids are out - absolute mayhem.
HOW are you going to prioritize your health?
Stick around and we'll show you how! In this summer episode we talk about why women have a hard time losing weight and why reaching goals throughout summer is more challenging. There are 5 main obstacles.
Here's how we are going to approach this;
-Stoplight approach
-Discipline
-Actions align with goals
-How to track and manage alcohol intake
-How to prep leading up to an event
Enjoy!

Ep. 42: Picky Eating & Bringing The Entire Family Onboard Your Journey
“It’s so hard eating healthy in my house because I need to cook for my two picky eaters, my husband and also myself!”
How many times have you said this or thought this while trying to make better, healthier choices for you and your family?
One of the biggest obstacles in a personal weight loss/health journey as a busy woman can very well be your family - but it can also be your life raft.
So on another episode of turning obstacles into opportunities, let’s listen to the new episode on our Hustle but Healthy Podcast!
We brought on Veronica from @feedingpickyeaters to talk about how to get the whole family involved in a healthy eating journey. Learn how to manage multiple taste buds and personalities so you don’t have to feel that dinner time is the most stressful time of day!
Pop your ear buds in or play this episode while doing some meal prep!
Can’t wait to hear what you think!

Ep. 41 - When Does Self-Care Go Too Far?
There's a fine line between giving yourself the space, grace and flexibility you need to calm your mind and listen to your body, and giving yourself too much space to a point where you start missing out on habits that keep you moving forward.
This episode is an open conversation on self-care and when giving yourself grace goes too far. What can we do to stay balanced enough that we're looking after ourselves and our bodies and also take breaks when needed? This episode goes into what self-care REALLY means, vs what we see and read about it on social media. And we give our two cents on what the most basic forms of self-care are. And if we neglect these 5 things, we've gone too far.

Ep. 40: Tackling Obesity with Dr. Nikita Shah
The weight loss and wellness coaching world can be absolutely overwhelming. And the obesity epidemic is no different. The energy balance equation, weight loss medication, bariatric surgery, lifestyle overhauls - how do we even begin to discuss the best path to helping women find health and happiness?
The first step is to listen to a professional in this field.
Enter Dr. Nikita Shah - an AOA Board Certified in Family Medicine and a diplomat to the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Her medical specialty is diagnosing the root cause of a person’s weight gain and leveraging the science of obesity medicine to achieve lasting wellness and weight loss. She is the founder of Weight Sense Lake Nona, an obesity medicine clinic in Orlando, Fl. She also practices Family Medicine at Rosen Hotel and Resorts. She serves on the board of directors for the Physician Society of Central Florida and also is on the editorial board for The Obesity Pillars Journal.
In this episode, we talk about just how complex weight loss can be and how to tackle it from the ground up.
Listen up!

Ep. 39: Overcoming Emotional Eating Once And For All
Welcome to Episode 2 of Season 2! Michelle and I are showing up today to talk to you about overcoming emotional eating. And the challenges we face when we succumb to these moments of "weakness" in our health and weight loss journey. I think it's important to note that Michelle and I are coaches, not doctors nor disordered eating specialists. And we continue to build out network of professionals that we can outsource too when needed.
We are, however, coaches! And what we DO do (very well I might add) is lead people to behaviour change. And like always, we're going to lead you to take actionable steps towards a better, more mindful and more intentional you. So dive in to this episode and let's talk about anxiety, fear of food, awareness exercises, and action steps.

S2, E1: Welcome to Season 2! Women, weight loss, and the truth!
WELCOME TO SEASON 2!
Well, sorry but we’re off to a rocky start with this episode but because i really wanted to get this episode out AND because we’re in lockdown, you’re getting this episode on the fly and that means my audio is a bit shoddy. My apologies, we’ll get it together for next episode.
That doesn’t mean the CONTENT ISN’T LIT THOUGH.
We talk about our holidays, how we controlled our eating, how we enjoyed ourselves. We talk about acupuncture, lessons we’ve learned recently, announcing my new cut phase I’m going through and also just the realities we go through as women in a health and fitness journey.
As always, we keep it real.

Ep. 36: Weight Loss & Your Mindset - The Key To Consistent Execution
One of the biggest obstacles I see in Women's weight loss journeys is self-sabotage. We are constantly getting in our own way and not believing we're actually worthy of change - leading us to inconsistent execution.
A successful journey is 90% mindset. In today's episode, Michelle and I talk about why it's so important and give you some exercises on how to build your growth mindset every day.

Ep. 29: 7 Weight Loss Tips For Busy Ass Women
We love to use "I'm too busy" as an excuse. It's the oldest one in the book.
As a busy women, it is our full responsibility to understand and truly believe that the most basic forms of self care - sleep, stress management, exercise, good food and proper hydration - are just as much our responsibility as any other thing on our priority list. We need to use them to perform our best in all our different roles, or else we're simply not doing the best we can.
Here are 7 ways to use to stop using the "I'm too busy" excuse and start working toward a much better self.

Ep. 28 - How Mandy Lost 30lbs on BODZii
We're so excited to start showcasing real stories about real life busy women who are nothing short of amazing.
Take Mandy (@mandydautremont) for example. She's a mother of two, works a full time job, and has a million things on her plate on a good day. Yet, her and @bodziimichelle teamed up and now she's down 30lbs.
On this episode, Mandy shares with us the details on her journey. Not just what she's doing, but how she's keeping a positive mindset and what she's learning along the way.
I hope this story helps and inspires you!
Get your steps in and take a listen.
Happy Monday ♥️ 💜

Ep. 27: Emily O'Brien - From Convict To Social Entrepreneur
Battling back from addiction and a Federal sentence for drug smuggling to building a booming social enterprise, Comeback Snacks (@comebacksnacks), Emily O’Brien’s (@emz.obrien) evolution from convict to entrepreneur is a story about lessons learned, resilience, determination, forgiveness and how to take a bad situation and turn it into endless positive opportunities.
On Today's episode, we got to unpack Emily's story, and we talked about:
⚡️ How she turned such a negative time in her life into something positive
⚡️Her process of starting a biz behind bars
⚡️Her mental health and attitude towards fighting setbacks
⚡️Overcoming eating disorders and how she uses activity and good food to help her thrive
This one is a great episode! So get your steps in and get listening!

Ep. 26: The Only Way To Prevent Burnout: Discussing The FGB Continuum
The FGB Continuum is a perfect way to showcase a similar scale to determine how easily we can fall into burnout, if we're not careful. As busy women, we're always striving for balance. We think that if we can create some balance, we'll never get burnt out. However - as a scale works - the slightest amount of time gone neglecting ourselves tips us closer towards burnout. But what if we didn't see "well balanced" as the gold standard for busy women? What if we started pushing "FIT & SUCCESSFUL" (being a FGB) as the goal? We'd then have a much larger hedge against ever being burnt out.
Being a FGB gives us constant growth in our health, fitness, mental health, relationships, business and professional lives without ever getting close to a point of burnout.
Remember, fitness and nutrition isn't separate from your career. It's a part of it. It is your responsibility. It isn't just something else on your plate. It's allowing you to work smarter, more efficient, and more sustainably.
In this episode, we talk about:
- What an FGB is
- What a girl boss means to Bodzii
- What the Health continuum looks like
- How we can marry fitness and entrepreneurship together to avoid burnout
READ THE ARTICLE HERE - https://www.bodzii.com/post/the-fit-girl-boss-continuum-health-fitness-and-your-career

Ep. 25: Building Habits on a 40+ Hour Work Week
Here's what we talk about in this episode (on top of us yammering on about the Olympics and working out for 20 minutes):
- The attitude to bring towards building habits
- How to create a realistic plan of action to build habits
- How to manage your boss and coworkers if you're working in an office job while trying to prioritize your heath (this is what we're talking about in this clip!)
- MUCH MORE
Creating any lasting change starts with habits. Creating new ones, breaking old ones. We've all seen the challenges, studies and literature on habit building.
If you've read the book 'Atomic Habits', you're off to a great start. James Clear says "on average, it takes more than 2 months before a new behavior becomes automatic — 66 days to be exact"
Now, if it's 66 days into your journey and you're still having trouble sticking to something, don't worry about it!
Since this podcast is meant for the busy woman who's working 40+ hours a week, the reality is that it's probably going to take you even longer to make a habit turn into something you can do for the rest of your life.
But that's okay. More than okay.

Ep. 24: Cut Vs. Bulk Vs. Maintain - Choosing The Right Phase For Your Journey
When's the last time you did a goal setting session with yourself?
When's the last time you did a goal setting session with a coach?
If you answered "never" to the latter, then you might be doing yourself a disservice by not fully understanding if you're setting realistic goals for yourself.
If you set yourself a goal and then a plan of action, it's not your fault if your action items don't line up to your goal - it might just be that you don't have all the information you need yet in order to make a proper plan.
So, let me try and help out a little bit to clarify the three big general goals people usually have when it comes to fitness and nutrition:
Cutting, Maintaining, and Bulking.
What's the difference? What's required? And as a busy girl, what phase should you choose so that you can get the most results without becoming burnt out and overwhelmed?

Ep. 23: Vicky Nguyen, Founder of Yummmmbar
Today we're talking with the owner of Yummmmbar. We're excited to talk with someone who's left the corporate world and found her passion in a space that brings her complete joy. And other's a full belly! Of course we're all about sustainable nutrition. And so this episode is the perfect match up where we talk good food, and busy women.
Founder, Vicky Nguyen, relied heavily on granola bars to curb hunger pangs. Although tasty, those snacks never filled her up or kept her satisfied, instead it left her wanting more. It was a constant battle between the mind and the taste buds. She tried the health bars at the specialty food markets, but nothing seemed to satisfy her palate, belly or wallet.
Without a lot of experience in the kitchen, she experimented with different healthy ingredients that could potentially keep her fuller longer and finally came up with a creation of her own. As the first taste tester of this new creation, she was delighted to see this bar made a great impression on her younger sister. Shortly after, she brought a bar to work and let one of her colleague taste-tested it. That’s when he planted a seed in her head to start selling the bars.

Ep. 22: 8 Weight Loss Mistakes Women Make
Read the full article on our blog!
You don't need us to tell you that losing weight can be frustrating. Let's just make sure you're not making any of these mistakes so we can get you closer to your goals.
In this episode I've compiled 8 mistakes that I see the MOST when working with our group of women in our 1:1 coaching program. I've asked our coaches to pitch in on writing this article so I could get their views, options, insight and some different angles as well.
These are mistakes that we all are going to make. And the reality is that our health and weight loss journey is a big trial and error process a lot of the time. However, we can build some awareness around when we're making these mistakes which will allow us to reframe our mindset, and pivot a bit quicker into the right direction.
The 8 mistakes are:
We're impatient We compare ourselves to others We aren't actually in a caloric deficit We stress out a lot We set unrealistic expectations We work against our physiology, not with it We eat on the run We're afraid of the weights
Ep. 21: Working out for weight loss, happiness, and sustainability
LET'S TALK WORKOUTS, TRAINING, AND ALL THINGS ACTIVITY.
This is a classic Michelle & Robyn shoot the shit episode. But I promise we also dive loads into:
💥Our history of working out and how our training has progressed
💥How we've tackled and managed injuries
💥Training for performance vs. Training for weight loss/aesthetics
💥CrossFit classes and how to prevent burn out
💥The BODZii Core Program - how it's designed
💥How to workout for weight loss and sustainability, and happiness!!
Michelle being an ex-hockey player, CrossFitter, and now working out as a Mom and Coach, and myself being an ex-swimmer, CrossFitter, CrossFit coach, and now prioritizing functional body building, we have TONS to talk about.
This one is jam packed, and a bit of a longer one. Which I'm stoked about. So get your steps in and get it in your ears!

Ep. 20: Shannon Cundell on Career Changes & Supporting Women and Girls
If doing this podcast has taught me anything, it's that there is no shortage of incredible women doing incredible things.
This week we have @shannoncundell. Shannon's specific role within her and her husband's company is the Marketing and Account Manager. She loves supporting clients' goals and inspiring connection through custom apparel and branded merch. She was an elementary teacher for almost ten years prior and is passionate about advocating for women and girls.
This past year has been no easy feat for any small business owner. Shannon shares her unique experiences within her business as she and her husband manage to navigate the e-commerce world.
Pop this episode in your ear buds, take a walk and get inspired!

Ep. 19: Working on Your "Why" For Life Long Health And Weight Loss
A solo FGB Short with Coach Robyn.
I remember the first time I was told to watch Simon Sinek's "How Great Leaders Inspire Action" video. You might know it better as the "Why" video. You might not have any idea what I'm talking about in which case, do yourself a solid and put this book down for 20 minutes to catch up.
"The goal is to do business with people who believe what you believe" was a line that stuck with me when I first watched it. And it's definitely stayed with me ever since.
If we think about ourselves as consumers, we assimilate ourselves with brands because we believe what they believe. Or, we want people to perceive us as someone who is aligned with a certain brand. The best brands make us act. In this particular case, in the form of buying.
Having a solid "why" acts as a foundation that we can fall back on. As a brand, all actions, systems, messaging, marketing etc. are surrounding that "why". If the "why" is solid enough, all actions will be aligned, messaging is clear, people are responding positively, and the business is successful.
In this episode I talk about the every so close ties between business development/entrepreneurship and weight loss or a health and fitness journey.

Ep. 18 - Hot Girl Summer: How To Stay On Track When The Weather Gets Warm
In 30 seconds we can turn the entire year into 12 reasons why we should never get it shape, focus on our health or dial in our nutrition. One for each month.
Your excuses are getting tired. And so are you. And no matter what day of the year it is - we can always find a reason not to.
On today's episode, we talk about how we can stay on track this month - whatever "on track" looks like for you. Whether it's finding balance with cottage weekends, keeping it dialled in or just continue hitting your protein goal.
It's something a lot of our members are getting anxious about, and so I hope this one helps you too.

Ep. 17: Hustle Culture Redefined w/ Sarah Singleton
Today on the show we have Sarah Singleton who lives in Niagara Ontario where she went to university, formed a- what looks like-incredible relationship with one of her college professors who is now her business partner and is now running a networking business for female entrepreneurs passionate about making connections, sharing successes and celebrating failures.
I wanted to bring sarah on the show today because we share one really common goal and mission - and thats helping female entrpreneurs as a female entrepreneur.
Females who Side Hustle is an online membership dedicated to educating, supporting and empowering those who huslte in all industries.
Bodzii has a very similar goal - educating, empowering and supporting busy women, or female entrepreneurs through their weight loss and health journey.
Sarah also is the cohost of a podcast called Save her Seat - and so needless to say, i feel like theres a lot of common ground to talk about here.

Ep. 16: 5 Productivity Hacks For The Busy Gal
Burnout is a huge possibility for busy women. And if you took away anything from our last episode, it's that high achievers are much more susceptible to anxiety, and burnout. Which, as we all know, can lead to days, weeks or months of being unproductive. There are small things you can be focusing on every day to help you stay productive day to day, and working more focused and intently than ever before.

Ep. 15: Creating Humour Out Of Anxiety with Sarah Ball
At Bodzii, we love to talk about all aspects of health; nutrition & physical health is at the forefront due to the nature of our coaching, however mental health is a HUGE piece of that puzzle. I am so excited to have our guest here today. Her name is Sarah Ball, she is also a current Bodzii member, being coached by Michelle. Yaaaay Sarah!
Sarah is an award winning blogger, speaker, and award winning author of Fearless in 21 Days.
16 years ago she was a single mom of 2 small children, living in poverty, abandoned, and really afraid. 5 Years later, she graduated with honors, met and married her husband, bought her first home, became a writer, and had 3 more children!
As Sarah describes, just when life was beginning to catch up with the Jones’ – she got tired, really tired. That tiredness turned into burnout, and that burnout turned into depression, and then one day, after a season of trials… she couldn’t get out of bed, she couldn’t drive her kids to school, or cook dinner, or shower, because she was mentally ill.
She began having panic attacks that turned into a full-blown panic disorder. Then she developed a life changing anxiety disorder, OCD, and deep depression. She went from “how does she do it all” to stuttering, faint spells, heart palpitations, irrational fears, and despairing and suicidal thoughts.
She started looking up ways to “cope” with it, and her identity became tangled in my mental illness, and she was accepting my fate. She doesn't remember a specific moment, but that internal stubbornness in her rose up. That stubbornness that had gotten her through many hard times. She rose up in me and said, “No way!” and here she is today.

Ep. 14: FGB Short - A NEAT Way to Lose Weight!
On today's FGB Short, @bodziimichelle and I are talking about how our Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is split up and how we can optimize each one.
Why is this important?
Well a lot of us tend to put all our eggs in the workout basket. I'm calling out all my lazy active people. Those of you who use your hour at the gym as an excuse to sit on your butt all day.
That aint right.
So in today's ep we're talking about NEAT - Non-exercise activity thermogenesis. Which contributes to a solid 15-20% of our TDEE. Which is a whopping amount compared to our exercise (at only about 5%).
okokok I'm going to leave it there. Go listen to the ep! It's a shorty and a goodie so click the link in my bio and scroll down to hit it up! And get your steps in while you're listening!

Ep. 13: Protein - The Weight Loss Macro
Mmmmm Protein - The weight loss Macro.
It really is. And here's a solid 50 minute FGB "Short" to tell you why. We really got into it with this one because there just is SO much good stuff to talk about when it comes to protein.
That, and the fact that it's one of the hardest things for people to really wrap their head around and act on when it comes to building a balanced diet conducive to any weight loss or body recomposition.
So here are the three major things we break down in this episode:
👊🏼Why protein is so important for weight loss
👊🏼How much protein you should be aiming for a day
👊🏼How to increase your protein consumption
Bing, bang, boom.
At the end of this episode, you should have a SOLID understanding of why your nutrition coach is pushing this on you so hard.
Oh, you don't have a nutrition coach? Let's change that.
We're taking applications for our 1:1 Coaching program right now! So get your name in there (link in bio)

Ep. 12: Karolina Konieczny on Managing a Gym Through a Pandemic
Today is a special episode in a few different ways. Karolina has been a close friend of mine for a few years now, and it's been special to see her grow into the confident person she is today.
I took her under my wing as a BODZii Intern, and now she's keeping one of downtown Toronto's best gyms alive a year into being shutdown.
We get to shoot the shit with this hilarious, high energy girl. And that's really what this episode is - us just chatting. We talk Tik Tok, the pandemic and the struggles, how Karolina keeps such a positive attitude, Rollerblading, Yogurt, swimming, and Justin Bieber.
I'm not sure there's much we didn't talk about.
So strap in, cause it's an entertaining one. Go throw this episode in your ears and get those steps in!
