Jagna also started in SAR and meanwhile trains and prepares dogs for different purposes like scent detection, tracking, verbal directionals and more. She also participated in a month long scholarship at the famous NPA (Norwegians People's Aid) where she learned about mine detection dogs.

Apart from that she is involved in organizing webinars with world famous trainers and scientists like Lauryn DeGreef, Paul Bunker, Florian Schneider 🤣, but also international training camps and conventions.

Steffen war Diensthundeführer bei der Polizei und hat vor vielen jahren eine Vision in die Tat umgesetzt. Heute betreibt er mit seinem Partner ein großes Sicherheitsunternehmen mit mehreren 100 Mitarbeitern und stellt ebenso eine Einheit von Sprengstoffspürhunden für seine Kunden zu Verfügung.

Abseits seiner beruflichen Karriere hat Steffen unterschiedliche Höhen und Tiefen durchlebt und gemeistert, eine spannende Persönlichkeit und für uns ganz bestimmt ein starker Partner für Zukunftsprojekte.

Wim De Kinder is a 100% businessman, he used to be a chef and worked all day long, then he even started working dogs in a professional way. I got to know him when we both participated in a 12 month master trainer course at the SWDI, back then still with Jens and Tobias and of course Jessica.

Ich bin seit Jahren tierschutzqualifizierter Hundetrainer, selbst mehrmals pro Jahr in der Rolle als kynologischer Sachverständiger aktiv für das Messerli Forschungsinstitut bei staatlichen Prüfungen für Therapiebegleit- und Assistenzhundeteams sowie für Tierschutzqualifizierte Hundetrainer/innen und dennoch habe ich mir erst zuletzt die Frage gestellt "Was genau macht das Messerli eigentlich, wer arbeitet dort und vor allem in welchen Bereichen?".

Also recherchierte ich und hatte kurz darauf das Vergnügen mich am Gelände der Veterinärmedizinischen Uni Wien mit Herrn Univ. Prof. Dr. Ludwig Huber zu treffen. Ein angenehmer "Kerl", offen und bemüht sich meinen Fragen zu stellen und für uns zu beantworten. Der Herr Professor ist aktuell Leiter des Messerli Forschungsinstitutes sowie der "Verlgeichenden Kognitionsforschung", welche einen von drei Hauptforschungsbereichen des Messerlis beschreibt und welche weitere spezifische Forschungsbereiche beinhaltet so wie zum Beispiel das Cleverdog Lab, das Wolfscience Center und viele mehr! Freut euch auf diesen Einblick in einen Bereich, von dem wir uns in Zukunft praktische Erkenntnisse und Aufschluss für Fragen unseres Trainings mit Hunden erhoffen.

Jens allowed me to ask him some questions about the search consoles he uses in training, when he works on brickwalls, line ups and scent wheels. What are the skills for dogs and handlers that shall be learned on each of those devices. Also what Arnold Schwarzenegger and Christoph Walz have to do with detection is part of this exclusive episode.

Mon séjour en France pour deux stages de détection fut aussi l'occasion de prendre un peu de temps pour discuter avec mon hôte, Bastien Marché. Bastien est un jeune entraîneur qui devrait faire parler de lui à l'avenir. En plus d'avoir un solide bagage théorique, il est également doué pour travailler les chiens.

Being in France for doing two Workshops for detection also allowed me to take some time and have a chat with my host Basten Marché. Bastien is a young trainer, of whom I think we will hear more about in the future. Apart from having a big theoretical knowledge he also has a deft hand in working dogs.

Ich durfte Björn Wunder interviewen, nachdem wir uns im Sommer 2022 bei einem Workshop von Kynotec für die Landespolizei Niedersachsen kennen gelernt haben, jedoch nicht genug Zeit blieb um sich noch etwas mehr auszutauschen und kennen zu lernen.

Nun endlich nachgeholt, und wir denken, dass es so gut geworden ist, und in jedem Fall hörenswert!

Björn ist ein echter Praktiker und lässt sich das trotz seines Ausbilder Daseins nicht nehmen, das macht bestimmt auch seine Qualität als Trainer bei Burli K9 und der Behörde aus. Zudem kommt sein fachliches Interesse, seine im Einsatz gewonnenen Kenntnisse sowie sein Wissensdurst. Christoph Wishofer ist fester Bestand der Kynotec GmbH, aber nicht nur das. Begonnen hat er im Hundesport in jungen Jahren, war im sportlichen Bereich, vor allem im IGP Sport aktiv und ist überdies national sowie international im Diensthundewesen tätig. Als Hundeführer und Ausbilder konnte er viele Erfahrungen sammeln und hat nie aufgehört sich neues Wissen anzueignen. Chris lässt sich von Sätzen wie "das geht nicht" anspornen, er ist ein super Kumpel und als Trainer und Trainingskollegen muss man ihn erlebt haben!

Markus Gruber ist ein langjähriger Freund den ich durch die Arbeit mit Hunden, genauer gesagt die Rettungshundearbeit, 2010 oder 2011, kennen gelernt habe, ganz genau wissen wir das nicht mehr. Sein Schaffen für dieses Fach (Rettungshunde) hat mich seither begeistert. Als Markus und ich aufeinander trafen war ich völlig grün hinter den Ohren, und er schon ein einsatzerfahrener Hundeführer und Ausbilder, dennoch hat er das sein Gegenüber nie spüren lassen, zu mindest nicht auf eine unangenehme hochnäsige Art und Weise, ganz im Gegenteil. Er war immer für den Austausch von Erfahrungen, Meinungen, andere Ansichten und Wissen, beim Training, während Trainingspausen und bei geselligen Abenden nach anstrengenden Trainingstagen. 

Nun freue ich mich sehr, dass er sich Zeit genommen hat uns von seinen aktuellsten Erfahrungen aus dem Auslandseinsatz mit der AFDRU im Katastrophengebiet, nach den schweren Erdbeben in der Türkei 2023, zu berichten.

Robin Greubel seems to never sleep, at least thats what you belive when she tells you all the things she manages doing during a 7 days week. She's playing the dogtraining game since 2001 and since then she has been doing all kinds of different projects from SAR to HRD, detection work concerning narcotics and explosives and many more. Also, she is an operator and trainer, an evaluator, breeder and it goes on just like this.

Oh man, we've just had a really nice time getting to know each other. Well, at least I got to know Stuard since I was the one asking questions, and it was just great. Stu is a very knowledgable but humble Welsh guy. One of the first things he taught me, was that real men are into rugby, not football, and apart from that, I could gain a lot more useful information throughout our conversation. 

In over 23 years of being operational as an agency doghandler, then in the privat sector and meanwhile runnig his own very successfull business, Stu definately has a lot to share. Ich kenne Amrei nun seit fast 10 Jahren. Leider haben wir viel zu selten die Chance gehabt miteinander zu arbeiten, nun aber immerhin die Möglichkeit eines Interviews zum Thema Rettungshunde genutzt.

Most of you know Ninos fast and flashy training clips. I think what we see there for sure is a certain level close to perfection. You haven't heard of Boki yet? Well could be because he has been training dogs all the time instead of showing off on social media.

Boki is a very practical guy. He gained a lot of skills, experience and credibility when he was training hundrets of dogs for the Norwegian People´s Aid, Global Training Center in Sarajevo Bosnia-Herzegovina.

He started with just walking the dogs and as a kennel assistant, but he leveled up, became responsible for all kinds of programs from the puppies, to breeding, training and shipping dogs all over the place. He finished his career there as the senior dog trainer managing the whole training of his trainers, progression plans etc. One of the specialties was and still is the mine detection dog training which obviously has a high demand and is a very serious subject. After an other two years in Norway he connected with Tobias Gustavsson, and finally he is here, at Kynotalk ;)

Zwischen zwei Workshops in der Schweiz und Deutschland machte ich einen Abstecher bei Daniel Staiber, der vor etwas über einem Jahr auf Kynotec zugekommen ist, den wir als Kunden aufgenommen haben und mit dem wir mittlerweile nicht nur Geschäftspartner, sondern auch gute Kumpel geworden sind. 

Daniel führt ein Unternehmen in den Sparten Gebäudereinigung und Schädlingsbekämpfung, letztere unterstützt er nun seit über 2 Jahren mit seinen eigenen Bettwanzenspürhunden, wobei ein Hund noch in Ausbildung ist. 

Daniel habe ich als unglaublich vernünftigen und ehrgeizigen Typen kennen gelernt und bereits selbst einiges von ihm in Sachen Betrieb, Work Live Balance udgl. lernen können. 

Dies ist nun die erste Folge die per se kein Personeninterview ist, sondern eine Branche des zivilen professionellen Spürhundewesens befasst, dennoch werden wir auch über Daniel selbst ein paar Dinge erfahren! Hört rein!

Probably Stephan is one of the busiest people I know, at least it's hard to arrange an appointment with him. When he is not having 5 dogs to train or work operational with he starts to study again at university with 30+ years, making babies and becoming a familyman, writing books or again, having to rush to an urgent deployment. 

Stephan did many different things in the police K9 branche, lately focusing on the digital data device detection dogs, a topic we also strived with Graham Attwood in episode number #010, he was also abroad in 2020 in a USAR / INSARAG mission with the dutch disaster unit when a huge explosion hit the harbor of Beirut, and a lot more - listen in, you will like it!

For me Pat is one of the most inspiring individuals when it comes to podcasting, dogcasting, interviewing and just recording while talking! Him and Glenn were the two first podcast hosts I have ever listenned to! Today I have my own tow podcast shows and finally you can meet one of "the makers" - Pat Stuart!

Pat explains why it sometimes is smarter to walk instead of running somewhere. He gave me an amazing insight into his army time, also in his early times as a dogtrainer up to now. Pat Stuart today is an internationally know and respected dog trainer, speaker, podcast host and even a creative director of an other company. 

Also he will answer Simon Prins' question from the previous episode and he left us an other one for our next interview, yet not knowing who will answer.

Simon Prins has ran through a breathtaking career. From being a diver in the military to becoming a police officer, taking over K9 projects within the police and SOF units. Then he also met Bob and Marian Bailey who became a big guidance in his own developement and he still is in touch with Bob. Throughout his career Simon also developed relevant technical systems and apparatuses for training and canine deployments such as lasers, camerasystems, all sorts of scent wheels.

My first contact with Jerry was through listening to podcasts recommended by Jens Frank, probably in 2019 or in the beginning of 2020. Soon I found out about Jerry having his own show. Hearing him speak I learnt more and more about PSA, a sport that doesn't exsist here in Austria. Apart from that Jerry made numerous episodes where he speaks about all kinds of topics that were to me fairly new or just really interesting to hear new opinions, approaches etc., "Grip developement", "controlled aggression", "decoy training", "rules of PSA", ...

"Milk was a bad choice!"

Armin already grew up with dogwork in Germany. When moving to Canada with his family he continued studying animals at his veterinary education in university, but then things came a little different soon. Years later, Armin lives with his wife and their dogs in the USA. His clients are foremost law enforcement and military working dogs units respectively their SF units, but he still does sport dog training in his club. 

Being in the business for decades Armin did make it through some changes in dog training. Some of them he sees sceptic, others he had to learn the hard way. Asking himself what we would deal with "if your dog could talk" he changed things to the better in training, but not only concerning the animal welfare, Armin also has his work approved by active handlers on duty. 

Apart from that, we found out that we both like to through around quotes from Anchor man and other movies or series, hahaha ...

Tobias has been with dogs all life long. He works as a full time dogtrainer for more dan two decades now, focusing on teaching all kinds of units from police, military, other government offices, but also civil trainers and handlers. Foundations of working dogs, basic skills, multiple surface tracking and detection are subjects associated with him. His and his dogs performances in his training clips on Instagram and Facebook wen viral and for many reasons he is an internationally renowned professional. 

The studied biologist talks with me about his point of view on different topics according to dogtraining and life in general. Listen in to find out more, you wont regret spending some time with us.

If there was a "Workingdog Handler / Trainer Hall of Fame" Cameron Ford would be one of the guys already being in there. 

He's been around policedogs ever since he was a child, getting his first impressions from his neighbor who worked with dogs. Later being a military dog handler in Germany, then a police dog handler, SWAT operator, instructor and so on up until now, where he runs Ford K9, has two employees and a lot of dogs, projects and passion for his work. 

The cool thing about Cameron is, that he never quit being curious on things in the dogtraining. He trained with other animals in a project for the Navy, also with several Seal teams but more important, he began to find dialogues with researchers, scientists, people from the lab and managed to build a bridge on how to implement the theoretical knowledge to the practical side of things. Now he works with different universities, supporting different projects and helps gaining data himself also by doing the "cognition classes" and many more. 

You will definitely enjoy this episode and it looks like Cameron will be back on the show for more!

What a great first guest!

I got to meet Jens in 2019 in Sweden while being in a one year online course for scent detection. Ever since we met in Sweden or Austria for multiple courses and workshops that we organized with him or where we attended as "learners". 

Jens has not only a vast knowledge in dog training, he is an "active duty" scientist, biologist, zoologist, father, husband and just a great guy to have around yourself.

Great to have you here! My name is Florian Schneider. I am one of the founders of the Kynotec GmbH in Austria and I am responsible for all the training aspects, the education of external and internal teams, the selection, purchase and sale of dogs as well as product development such as our scentwheels or our camera system "Kynotec Recon One". I'm always looking for something new - for example new ways of training, trying to understand theory and applying it in practice, researching the approaches of others and taking part in courses and further educations with renowned trainers worldwide, I follow various channels, watch and listen.

It seems as if success in dog training is not only due to the love for the dogs, I try to find out WHO and most importantly WHY and HOW trainers and specialists are so successful in their respective branches. So you can expect on "not dog-related" topics in this podcast, but on everything to do with the people in the show, their work, research and studies, entrepreneurship, breeding and who knows what else comes to our mind.

With Kynotalk we want to offer a channel through which we can think outside the box and escape from our , as we say in german „own business blindness“. Kynotalk will be published in English and German, depending on the origin of our interview partners. So we hope to expand our network to give even more listeners the opportunity to learn new things, easily and from anywhere, just by listening to our podcast. At Kynotalk I will record "monologues" and share my thoughts with you, but since I don't have too much to say , I will do my best to invite special guests to the show who have influenced me or whose work impresses me.

I am interested in how we can optimize the training of dog teams, raise quality standards in order to make operations more efficient and thereby strengthen the relevance of workingdogs in all sectors for the future. Training aspects, selection of dogs, theories and practices, self-motivation and everything related to the business. I want to know how to improve myself, or as my friend Dirk would say "how to get a little less bad every day".

So let's deal with problems, try to understand causes and consequences, listen to how experienced and smart trainers and experts in their field see things, reveal their routines and give us an insight into their work.

Ich bin Geschäftsführer bei der Kynotec GmbH in Österreich und verantwortlich für unsere Trainingsgestaltung, der Ausbildung von externen und internen Teams, der Selektion sowie dem An- und Verkauf von Hunden sowie der Produktentwicklung wie zB. unseren Scentwheels oder unserem Kamerasystem „Kynotec Recon One“. Ich bin stets auf der Suche nach Neuem - so zum Beispiel nach neuen Wegen im Training, versuche die Theorie zu verstehen und in der Praxis anzuwenden, erforsche Herangehensweisen anderer und nehme dabei bei neuen Kursen und Ausbildungen bei renormierten Trainern weltweit Teil, schau mir diverses Video auf unterschiedlichen Kanälen an, beobachte und höre zu.

Es scheint ganz, so als ob Erfolg im Hundetraining nicht nur an der Liebe zum Hund liegt, ich versuche zu erfahren WER und vor allem WARUM und WIE Trainerinnen und Trainer, Spezialisten und Innen in ihren jeweiligen Nischen so erfolgreich sind und wie es dazu kam. Also könnt ihr euch auf „nicht ausschließlich hunderelevante“ Themen einstellen, sondern auf Alles rund um die Personen im Gespräch und ihr Schaffen, der Forschung, dem Unternehmertum, der Zucht und wer weiß was uns noch alls in den Sinn kommt.

Mit Kynotalk wollen wir einen Kanal bieten, durch welchen wir über den Tellerrand schauen können und aus unserer Betriebsblindheit entfliehen. Kynotalk wird in englischer und deutscher Sprache, je nach Herkunft unserer Interviewpartner, erscheinen. Somit erhoffen wir uns, unser Netzwerk zu erweitern um damit noch mehr Hörerinnen und Hörern die Möglichkeit zu geben, Neues zu erfahren, ganz einfach und von überall, als Podcast. Bei Kynotalk werde ich „Monologe“ führen und mit euch meine Gedanken teilen, da ich selbst jedoch gar nicht Viel zu sagen habe werde ich mein Bestes geben Gesprächspartnerinnen in die Show einzuladen die mich beeinflusst haben, mir imponieren oder deren Schaffen mich beeindruckt.

Mich interessiert, wie wir die Ausbildung von Hundeteams optimieren können, Qualitätsstandarts heben um Einsätze effizienter zu gestalten um damit die Relevanz von Diensthunden in allen Branchen, zivil und behördlich, für die Zukunft zu festigen. Trainingsaspekte, Selektion von Hunden, Theorien und Praktiken, Eigenmotivation und Alles was mit dem Geschäft zu tun hat. Ich will wissen, wie ich mich selbst verbessern kann, oder wie mein Freund Dirk sagen würde „wie man jeden Tag ein bisschen weniger schlecht wird“.

Setzen wir uns also mit Problemen auseinander, versuchen wir Ursachen und Konsequenzen zu verstehen, hören wir uns an, wie erfahrene und smarte Ausbilder sowie Koryphäen ihres Fachs die Dinge sehen, ihre Routinen Preis geben und wir einen Einblick in deren Arbeit gewährt bekommen.
