Healthy-ish is Real Life & Business - with Steph Dodier
Today on 100% Healthy-ish I'm thrilled to be hosting and chatting with Stephanie Dodier of Going Beyond the Food. I've been on Steph's podcast a few times (including just last week!) and today's my turn to interview her!
She stumbled upon the shift in my work from Food Freedom/Body Love to Healthy-ish and her interest was piqued. She had LOTS fo questions for me about Healthy-ish - what it is, how I came to it, and if it's still anti-diet and body positive, etc. We covered all of that on her podcast last week. Which you can catch HERE.
Today we're talking about Healthy-ish in real life - what it looks like in our lives, where we still struggle, how our evolution when it comes to bodies and health have affected how we do business and the importance of BIG nuanced conversations.

Are you bad at moderation? (and the upcoming Healthy-ish Reset!)
Today's episode is an update on my "moonly" challenge - marrying the strategic and the woo of the monthly moon cycles to break old patterns of scarcity, overwork, and feelings of "not belonging". What's been interesting and come up HUGE over the past month is the dichotomy of discipline and freedom.
I tackled it first in my body
and now it's trickling into other areas of life.
But there have been some HUGE lesson around intuitive eating, moderation, balancing NOs and YESes when it comes to food and health.
I'm talking about how these lessons are leading us PERFECTLY into this fall's 3-Week Healthy-ish Reset.
Tune in to find out MORE!

Manifesting with the Moon: Belonging, eating for pleasure, and riding waves of discomfort!

Then, I want you to weigh in. Does this sound like what you've been looking for? Any questions? Thoughts? Things that feel like they're missing?

When Your Husband Prefers a Thinner You
You've been working to feel better in your changing body - so have I - but what happens when you ask your husband if he prefers a thinner you and he honestly answers... yes.
In this episode I'm talking with Erin, a lovely listener who popped into my DMs to ask me just that! It's a big, all too relatable question, so, instead of getting back to her on Instagram, I invited her to be on the show.
We talk about:
- your partner's responsibility when it comes to how they feel about how you look
- how this plays on our deepest fears when it comes to our bodies
- why you need to stop asking other people how they feel about your body
- ways to actually manage how YOU feel about this situation
- and, as always SO MUCH MORE.
I love this episode so much! I hope you do too!

Action + Intention + Self reflection + Course correction: manifesting with the moon!
In this episode I'm talking about the many phases of the moon, what to expect from them and how to harness each energy to fuel your search for the things that are most important to you. It's a practice of woo and incredibly practical step-by-steps.
I'm also talking about how I've been feeling, where I've been stuck, and how I'm hoping to find a more sustainable flow in work and life by breaking old patterns of overwork, lack mentality, and productivity as worth.
I'm taking you step by step through every phase of last month's moon cycle - what my intention was, the actions I took, the tests that were offered up, the patterns I discovered, the course correcting needed and how I'm going to continue to use this process over the course of the next year.

Is Your Life Sustainable?
Our lives are finite. They are also very messy. Prioritise the things that really matter to you and devote yourself to them. The end. You will never, ever, ever fit everything in, even if you wake up at 4:30am, so please, just let the rest go! - Abby Rasminsky riffing on Oliver Burkeman
And on today's podcast, I'm riffing on how Healthy-ish is the framework I use to apply this philosophy to how I think we should be approaching self-care and well-being. BUUUUT I struggle to apply it to my work and life flow. I found it while travelling in Europe for 2 months last year but slowly, slowly slowly lost it and it's positive effects over the past year. I continually get caught up in patterns of overwork and scarcity... Doing too much and then burning out.
How about you??
Is your life sustainable?

Healthy-ish Hack: The Importance of Beauty
Does beauty matter? Why or why not?
In this episode I'm exploring:
the connection between how we feel about our bodies and how we take care of them
the importance of art, beauty and aesthetics for our brains
the real problem with beauty ideals
social norm vs true preference
how we can begin to invite beauty back into our lives, on our terms
AND MORE!

Travel, beauty, and the challenge with sinking into sensuality - with Heather Drudge
Today I'm interviewing Heather Drudge - a digital strategist & social media pro with a knack for building visually beautiful & community-centric brands online. I offered Heather a Healthy-ish blueprint when I was fine tuning the frame work and it's really cool to hear her describe the experience of getting a blueprint, what's she's learned, what's she experimenting with, what's been hard and what's next, for her!
We talked about:
- how Human Design can offer up a whole new framework for health
- loose structure with lots of flexibility
- travel, adventure, and aesthetics are PART of the plan
- completely rebuilding her relationship with movement 5 minutes at a time
- making a new home as a single, self-employed, adult
- what it means when your favourite space is taken from you, against your wishes
- the joy of letting go of intermittent fasting (and keto!) once and for all
- why pleasure and sensuality are the hardest part of the blueprint
- the importance of rebuilding your nose when that's how you "take in" the world
- our mutual love of Prince Edward Island and the ocean... and finding beauty wherever you are.

Healthy-ish Hacks: Triggers that Keep You Stuck
I wanted to dive deeper in to the Healthy-ish era that I call: healing but sore and a bit unsure. This is the place where most people come to me - stuck in an unending loop of being ready to be intention with their health but then getting triggered by something... falling back into the IDGAF era and staying there until they feel bad enough that they're ready to put intention in, again. AND REPEAT. It's a TOUGH place to be. I talk about why we end up here and I reveal:
- my three biggest triggers when it comes to health
- how I work my way through them
- so I can take care of myself in the best way possible, despite the problematic thoughts and feelings that others have about these topics.
It's a conversation about resilience and moving forward. I think you're gonna love it.

When working on your health feels "anti-motivating" - with Crecia Cipriano
You know when you meet those special people who just emanate positive energy and joy?! Well that's Crecia Cipriano to a "T". She's an intuition-driven decision making coach who helps passion-powered professionals access all the calm, confidence + clarity they need to make the moves that matter most in their business + claim joy like it’s their job (because it is!). Her approach to business very much parallels my approach to health - so it was super fun to get her take on Healthy-ish and feedback on my blueprint. It was particularly interesting to hear about the ways in which she find health "anti-motivating" at times because I know so many others feel the same. #relatable
In this episode, we talk about:
- Crecia's signature card coaching method and how it's wildly helpful when it comes to connecting with intuition
- How we met online, TWICE
- The five things she does every day to feel good
- How the smallest goals create the most success
- The pieces of her blueprint that hit the nail on the head
- The stress of being an entrepreneur and how it sits in the body
- Rebelling for the sake of rebelling, even when it's at our own expense
- How her human design affects digestion
- ...and more!

Healthy-ish Hack: Is your interest in healthy eating a problem?
At what point does caring about eating healthy food and being well cross the line into orthorexia - an eating disorder characterized by food obsession?
In this episode, I try to delineate the very muddy waters of what's "normal" when it comes to caring about health and what's problematic.
It's difficult to pull this apart in a culture where restriction, control, moderation, and all-or-nothing thinking prevail BUT it's clear that caring about health shouldn't cause malnutrition, crush your social life or isolate you.
There's nothing healthy about being obsessed with health - and that's what we're gonna talk about today!

Why we turn on our bodies when life is tough - with Gabriella Galante
What happens when you loathe your job, feel miserable in general, and you direct all of that life discomfort onto your body and eating?
Today on the podcast, Gab - the founder of GG & CO Creative, a boutique social media and PR agency - is talking about her experience with an eating disorder called orthorexia and how she found her way back to herself with the help of family, friends, and lots of therapy.
We talk about:
- where the food control and overexercise began
- why we turn on our bodies when things aren't going well
- the experiences that open up when you find food freedom
- you can learn to separate what foods feel bad in your body physically from foods that are emotionally uncomfortable
- the gut brain connection is a two way street
- the challenges of running a successful business and managing health
- the keystone habits that keep Gab tapped into her Healthy-ish
- The app that's changing her brain!

She helps women get back to who they were meant to be before everyone told them who they SHOULD be. Sometimes that's via jeans and sometimes it's about personal development.

A mini mishmash episode talking about Ramit Sethi's Big Rich Life concept - how he approaches money management the ways in which he's disrupting the finance industry. ALSO covered - how the Big Rich Life concept parallels my Healthy-ish Life concept:
- putting joy and dreams and aspirations FIRST
- building a plan from how you most want to FEEL
- getting away from overwhelm and all or nothing thinking in order to make better decisions about health
- gathering the right information so you can stop REACTING and start responding
- deciding what's MOST important to your health so you can double (or triple!) down on THAT while cutting out the things that aren't moving the needle
- how lab work can help with those decisions
- the lab work I offer
- $1000 in lab work that you can grab as a bonus TODAY!

When your values are plant-based but your body asks for something different - with Sarah Britton
Sarah Britton is just one of the loveliest humans you'll ever meet - an OG food blogger, holistic nutritionist, author, and chef. If you follow her on Instagram you get a sense of the magic that is this human. I loved hearing about her journey INTO food and wellness and vegetarianism ...and then the difficult shift she had to make when her body started to ask for something different. It was a beautiful, emotional, conversation.
We chatted about:

Biohacking for Babes
I'm eating my words in this episode, bbs! I used to be VERY negative about biohacking and the bro-iness of it all. But the tides are turning and I'm seeing things in a whole new way. In this episode I talk about:
- what is biohacking?
- why I've hated it forever and why I'm changing my mind now
- how can we biohack like a babe?
- what do we need to watch out for?
- the 5 biohacks I'm LOVING right now
- the 1 tech related biohack I might be up for:)

Your best weight - and how to care about it without being consumed by it.
In this episode I'm covering the three topics I get asked about over and over:
- How do I know what my best weight is and how to find it?
- How can I accept my body when I don't like how my body looks?
- Is it possible to pursue weight loss and health at the same time
This is just the beginning of the conversation but - regardless of where your weight is and what your weight goals are - I hope that this opens up a whole new world of possibility and the opportunity for you to FINALLY figure out the whole weight had health thing once and for all.

Connecting the dots: what no one else in the health field is doing
What if I told you I’ve developed a completely customizable framework that dismantles the convo. That addresses your very own unique health challenges (here’s looking at you, hot flashes) and goes way beyond basic b tactics like “enjoy a palm full of almonds a day for optimal healthy fat intake and take 1,243,564 steps or perish” or the opposite “just be intuitive”. (btw I love almonds, intuition, and steps, but need something in the middle, yes? )
Not to brag, but my approach is kinda revolutionary. We’re going to makeover your relationship with health by ditching all the stuff that doesn’t actually move the needle [weekly meal plans and random “exercise” appts on your cal you’ve been ignoring foreverrrrr] and expanding our definition of healthy in a way you’ve probably never thought of.
We get hella clear on four main areas of focus… because nope, we’re not JUST talking about your BMI or your intermittent fasting sked.
Today's episode lays out what Healthy-ish is all about!

The 5 Things I'm most focused on optimizing when crafting a Healthy-ish Blueprint
Crafting a Healthy-ish Blueprint goes WAY beyond the boring, ineffective, and you've-tried-it-all-so-who-cares food and exercise basics.
I explore five specific, super important areas (and more, but these 5 for sure) with every woman I work with. I could tell you what they are - but what's the fun in that?
Tune in to find out!!
Healthy-ish via Human Design with Dr. Lisa Lavoie

What Health ERA are you in?
Walking you through my health eras from birth to 43 (almost 44!) and wondering if you see yourself in any of these?
Through the eras of:
- innocence
- whole & healthy
- ease & effort
- ANGST & effort
- disorder
- IDGAF
- healing, sore & not too sure
- to finally... HEALTHY-ISH!
I've found my way back to deep and intentional self care that feels whole and healthy and entirely positive.
Tune in to figure out what era YOU'RE in and what's next on your journey:)

Healthyish Hack: Gratitude *barf*
For real tho, does the word gratitude make you wanna regurge? If so, I understand and THIS IS FOR YOU.
I've been living in a brand new space for the past few months - one that I'm resistant to call gratitude but, bb, I think that's what it is. Cliché perhaps but maybe for a good reason...
In this episode I'm talking about
- this new place of peace and acceptance I'm in
- how upheaval in my personal and professional life have LOUDLY paralleled old patterns I've had with food and body
- and the TWO things that I believe have helped me get to this place, FINALLY
But don't talk about it too much... I'm terrified I'll jinx it and this magic will go away!! lol
UPDATE: I jinxed myself! Right after scheduling this episode I had two sick kids on my hands - one with an ear infection and one with a broken ankle. I'm serious. With a surgery needed, a healthcare system bursting at the seams, a full moon coating everything in BIG EMOTIONS - where does gratitude fit in. I'm not sure but I'm glad I'm in a place of more acceptance and calm. Tune in to hear more:)

Healthy-ish Travels!
Today I'm talking about TRAVELLING - when we leave our regular routines and rhythms how can we stay healthy(ish!)?
Tune in to find out.
I'm talking about the 6 major areas that come up over and over again when it comes to feeling good in your body and about your body while on the road:
- Skin
- Hydration
- Immunity
- Sleep
- Digestion (and eating!)
- and STYLE!!!
It's a fun, lighthearted look at one of my favourite things.

The 2 Reasons Gwyneth Sets Us Off... and how to manage it.
Why is she so triggering? Why is sharing "What I eat in a day?" or "My wellness routine" so problematic? Why does it make you feel like yuck?
ANNNNND, is it possible to learn from these triggers? Is is possible to let these feelings lead you to a better understanding of who you are, what you need, and how you might care for your own body? I think so. Sharing some unpopular views and ideas that might shift the way you think about Gwynnie and the wellness industry, in general.

Healthy-ish Hack: The Desire for Simplicity
I know you want it. I want it too.
Ease. Simplicity. Clarity. A straight forward path.
But guess what, friend - you're living in a complex human body. There's no such thing "set it and forget it". Maintenance is a myth. That said, you can learn to care for your ever-changing body, get comfortable with cycles and transition periods, grow your confidence and skills when it comes to making health choices that are right for you... and that' s what this episode is all about.
It might never be completely EASY but it can be easiER - and the figuring out bit is well worth it, considering your body is your most valuable asset.

Healthy-ish Hack: What if Restriction Feels Good?
Ooooh! It's a juicy one! Talking about my recent thoughts about RESTRICTION. You've heard me give the double finger (that's right - HEARD) to restriction on this podcast over and over and over again... and for good reason! But as we heal and evolve into this next phase of self-care, with new perspective and motivation, is it possible to approach mindful, gentle, intuitive restriction in a healthful way? One that OPENS up possibilities in our lives?
I think so. Tune in to hear more!

Healthy-ish Hack: WTF do clothes have to do with health?
We're talking about CLOTHES today! Healthy-ish considers - amongst many things - our space and our clothing, which I think confuses people sometimes. Like, WTF does clothing have to do with health?! Today I'm introducing the concept of ENCLOTHED COGNITION and how you might begin your journey into using clothing to change how you think, feel, behave and care for yourself!
It's a fun one:)

- take pics and share on instagram - being sure to tag @foodfreedombodylove
Can't wait to see what you get up to!

Does the desire for weight loss fit within the Healthy-ish framework?
What about detoxes? Intermittent fasting? Eating Paleo? In this episode I'm talking about how I manage these very natural inclinations and desires within the Healthy-ish framework and the body positive, anti-diet values I feel so strongly about.
Spoiler alert! It has to do with:
- Motivation
- Checking on deeper desires
- Understanding and mitigating potential consequences
- Putting everything into the context of the individual.

Healthyish Hack: The Last Time I was a HUGE B*tch
A rambly episode about triggers, shadow work, attachment style and alllll the ways I self protect. I think you'll love this if you've been feeling judge-y, shame-y, embarrassed, or easily triggered. It happens to the best of us, right? Might as well talk about it and try to work WITH these parts of ourselves:)

Cosmic Health - with Jennifer Racioppi
What a HUGE episode! Today I'm talking with the fierce and feisty Jenn Racioppi - her health journey started with an endometrial cancer diagnosis at 19. Her epic book - Cosmic Health is a reference guide you're gonna want sitting on your desk at all times. I'm staring at mine right now.
In this episode we talk about:
- going from "cancer free" to thriving

Fatphobia on TV, in the movies, and around the dinner table - with Meaghan Cahill
On today's episode I'm getting giggly and gossipy with my friend and colleague Meaghan Cahill of Cahill Wellness. - Why Jill is so exhausted by body conversation and how she recently F&*cked up
