Amanda Jefferson is one of the world's first KonMari consultants.
She recently landed a spot on the TEDx stage where she challenged us to ruffle some feathers and declare the difference between what we "should" have in our closets as opposed to our must haves.
It's much more than cleaning out your space. It's about recognizing the ways we hold ourselves back starting with the things we have hanging in our closets and moving on from there.
Taking notice that we deserve to be surrounded by, and are worthy of, having everything (and everyone) that sparks joy, down to the socks we put on our feet.
In other words, it's a mindset shift. Shifting from doing something you were told to do to something else because intuitively, you know what lights you up. So, how do you let go? The closet is a great place to start.

We have to understand where we are in life before we can move forward.

One year ago today, I hit "publish" on the trailer for my podcast.
It's been such a fun ride and I'm so very grateful for all of you and your support.

I also talk about my "fake commute" and what brought me to create a podcast of my very own.
The top episodes are listed below and are the best of the best. I extracted short clips from each episode. So, rather than highlight three takeaways, I leave you with a challenge for the week:
CHALLENGE: We’re half-way through the year, use this time to review how far you’ve come not just in the past six-months but also the past year. Celebrate yourself and your successes. Looking how far you’ve come is a key part to our growth – as individuals in our professional lives and our personal pursuits. Even if what you’re doing is really hard – it’s great to pause and look back. It's time to CELEBRATE!!

49. Like Spinach in Your Teeth
If you had spinach in your teeth, would you want someone to tell you? Of course you would.
Here's the real question, though: Would you return the favor?
Let's take it one step further: If someone was getting the wrong kind of attention at work, would you let them know?
You may recognize today's guest -- Joyel Crawford. She was on the show last week and she's back today to share her personal Office Flip Flop story.
Joyel and I discuss the (one) time she was written up for inappropriate "attire" and how simple it could have been for someone to just tell her.
You don't want to miss this one.
To continue the conversation with Joyel and to learn more about her, check out her TEDx talk and her website.

48. Embracing Your Authenticity
Joyel Crawford grows leaders for a living with her company Crawford Leadership Strategies.
Joyel embraced her journey with alopecia areata and most recently shared it on the TEDx stage.
She paid attention to the fire within and her calling to talk publicly about her private story. By paying attention to her message, she embraced her authenticity, which ultimately led her to feel more confident.
Isn't that interesting? We often hide behind our stories and yet when we embrace and share our authenticity, it helps us become more confident.
To continue the conversation with Joyel and to learn more about her, check out her TEDx talk and her website.
(Please note that as of the date of this episode release, the TEDx link for Joyel's conversation is not yet public -- that's how fresh her appearance is. I will update the show notes within the podcast app. Please check back and don't miss her amazing presentation on the TEDx stage!)

47. Fighting for What You Want
Jennifer Lynn Robinson, CEO of Purposeful Networking, is a resilience connoisseur. In 2008, she was involved in a near-death accident and has had to reinvent herself several times.
Her TEDx talk speaks to getting back in the ring -- she uses boxing as a metaphor and that's what grounds her. It's a beautiful story of resilience and determination.
Time after time after time she was told to try something new, to reconsider something else, to move on.
Jennifer's story is not about rolling with the punches. It's about creating a life on purpose.

35. In Her Daughter's Memory, A Mission of Kindness
Dianne Grossman, founder of Mallory's Army Foundation, or as Dianne humbly mentions, the Foundation that found her, is today's guest.
Mallory’s Army was formed in July of 2017, after the tragic, unforeseen death of of her daughter, Mallory Rose Grossman. At the precious age of 12, Mallory took her life after months of bullying at school and online.
Dianne and her husband, Seth, created a Foundation that was only the beginning of their mission to end bullying. They championed a state law that was just signed by Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey on January 10th of this year, which improves protection for students by increasing penalties for parents and guardians. This law also mandates school districts to strengthen bully-prevention policies.
Mallory's story has been documented in a film and you can watch the Trailer for Mallory, the movie for suicide awareness or purchase Mallory the movie on Amazon or Apple iTunes.
Dianne and Seth hope to reach people all over the world and that their journey acts as a reminder to always be a positive force, standing up against bullying.
Now that's really something.
To continue the conversation with Dianne, you can contact her at Mallory's Army website contact page and if you would like to support Mallory's Army, you can make a donation and purchase something at Mallory's Army website.

28. Meeting Your Goals With Positivity
As we turn the page to a new year, many of us use this opportunity to make goals, resolutions, and commitments to be better, do better, and feel better. You might ask yourself, what's the best way for me to do that? Well, Mardi Ballou has said:
"Inch by inch it's all a cinch, by the yard it's hard. Go for it -- no matter how slow or long the process seems at first.”
There's no denying that there's been an upheaval in the workforce, whether it is from resignations or terminations, numbers have reached startling levels. The uneasiness that accompanies a workforce "shift" is really hard to overcome and my next guest, Henry G., knows this feeling all too well.
Henry worked in an industry that was hit really hard during the pandemic and was let go. But, Henry did not despair and set out on his mission to uplift others through his podcast, The Positive Mindset.
Henry wasted no time in setting out to keep his mindset elevated with his podcast and in time, he was called back to work at the same place that let him go! Fast forward to today, he is guiding and supporting others with his mission and his podcast has over 1 million downloads!!
To hear more of Henry's wisdom, tune into his wildly popular podcast: The Positive Mindset, found on Spotify, Apple, and all of the great places you enjoy podcasts.

27. The Pledge of Kindness
As we round out the end of the year, we reflect on the year and paint the picture for what we would like the New Year to hold. As Maya Angelou has brilliantly stated: "I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better I do better."
Gianna was featured in Episode #22: What are you grateful for? and I’ve commissioned her again for this special year-end episode. I shared my "why" in Episode #22. I recalled something in the beginning of the year and that I had completely forgotten which is the impetus of this very show. It reminds me of a quote by Mark Twain: "The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why."
It's no surprise that the top episode of the year was Episode #19: Culture: Meet People Where They Are, with my guest, Craig Loundas. My friend Craig reminds us that "it's okay not to be okay" and to meet our co-workers, friends and family where they are, offering support.
And so, listen in to Gianna's "Pledge of Kindness" that she generously shares with the Office Flip Flops community.
Gianna is ten years-old and Student Council President for her school. The pledge she shares with us is something for us to live by and pay forward. She is wise beyond her years and her reminder to keep things simple is a great tool for all of us.

26. The Success Strategy: Quieting Your Mind
During this time of year, many of us reflect on the past 12-months and think about what we want our future to hold.
In today's episode, a dear friend shares a profound experience that you don't want to miss.
Michele Schina, CPA Founder and Partner of TMS, II LLC shares her scary personal experience that has not only strengthened her life, but her business practice as well. Her experience was an "opportunity" to quiet her mind and create a business model and guide for her clients that she uses today.
Her message is clear and her approach great in that we all need to quiet our minds and allow ourselves to dream our dreams so that we can call them into reality.

If you knew that imagining your future secured your success, would you use your imagination more?
In today's episode, Christopher Mominey, CEO of West Chester University Foundation and University Student Housing humbly shares how he creates an environment where people can do their jobs. West Chester is the largest state school in the Pennsylvania State System and Chris leads the philanthropic arm of the University.
As a "culture warrior," Chris describes how we should speak about the future as if the future is right now. Chris tells an incredible story of when he acted "as if" during a job interview, speaking from the seat at the desk as if he already had the job, which lead to him winning the position.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Chis and know you will too.

As we officially commence the holiday season for 2021, I've compiled a gratitude series with podcast guests and friends and had them share what's on their hearts. Listen in to this episode and lean in to the feeling of gratitude.
I also share something very personal. Being vulnerable is not easy, yet it's so freeing.
Typically, I round up the episodes with the "Top 3" takeaways. With today's episode, I challenge you, the listener to think of three things that you're grateful for today.
And repeat this exercise, tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that.
Now that's something.
