Suspensions, Infinite
Suspensions, Infinite examines the language of propaganda films to create an experimental essay film on vanishing forms of working, cycles of exploitation, and the role of human attention (as a labor form in itself) within surveillance capitalism. Through a cinematic portrait of a Portuguese family's labor histories from 1900-2002, a continuum is exposed, about life as an immigrant, as a queer person, as almost-working class, and as astute observers of power imbalances within our current means of connection.

Last winter, I was fortunate to be able to travel to Antarctica, and I was deeply moved by what I saw there. Human activity is governed by strong restrictions ratified by nations that have agreed not to claim any part of the continent for themselves; therefore the land and its inhabitants (seals, birds, whales and fish) are for the most part protected from direct human interference. Seals and penguins show no fear of humans; it is amazing to see just how interested baby seals are to get a closer look at people.

There's always time for a chat. Our latest Podcast is live - listen to Dan in conversation with the very cool Andrew McCardle.

They discuss content creation, Andrew's latest feature film and why 'The Joker' perhaps didn't fully hit the mark.

You can find The Podcast on most players.

"The aim is to curate, but also to add a context, a narrative to the evolution of the visual language; a universal method of communication that plays across cultures and divides, communication with symbols and visual cues. What separates photography and cinema from the previous visual mediums is their ability to take control of the eye, crafting a surrogate field of vision, the act of seeing through another's lens. Here we will detail the vocabulary, grammar and greatest works of a language that is able to speak in abstract concepts and emotions just as easily as I type these words."
