Toxic masculinity is a lie. It arrises from toxic femininity. This past week we said goodbye to our oldest family dog, Harper. It's so devastating to navigate the loss of a beloved pet, but if you're a dog person, you totally get it. The Republicans have proven themselves the worst kind of enemy, and there are so few good ones, it's hard to have any hope the midterms will make any difference. Here's what we know: The core issues in this country can't be solved by politicians--left, right, president, congress, etc. So we can no longer afford to be passive or keep our head in the sand. We must be prepared for what's coming.

Don't fall for what they're throwing at you. We can say mass shootings are tragic and also hold tightly to the second amendment. The two things are not related and we need to be more bold as we stand on founding principles. Don't let the emotional rhetoric trigger you or push you off balance. That's exactly the goal. Remember, whatever they're putting in front of you is what they want you to be obsessed and angry about. Stay focused on the bigger picture.

I had the unpleasant (but educational) experience of finding myself in a surprise debate with an atheist. I had the opportunity to sit down with three amazing Christian girls who've either recently graduated or are in the process of graduating college. When I heard they came out the other side of their college experiences feeling strengthened in their faith, I knew I needed to understand what set them apart. I don't think I need to explain how left-leaning and anti-god higher education is but statistically our youth is much more likely to come out of four years either on the raisers-edge of unbelief or even denouncing their faith entirely. I had to know what made these girls so different. Check it out.

HR5 is another bill sitting on the floor of the US Senate right now. It would be devastating to religious freedoms and women's rights among other things if it passes. I'm not proposing that people with alternative gender identities shouldn't be represented, I'm suggesting this bill is not the way to do it. We can't take rights away from one group and give them to another group and call it equality.
