Real with Gardenia - Seasons 2 and 3Sep 27, 2023

Part 1 of "I Forbid" Episode #41
This is a short episode of how leadership can be counter-productive to the action that he/she desires. It is an example of well-being leaders (disciples) who followed Jesus but did not see beyond their physical or mental knowledge. What a teachable moment! Leadership can get it wrong, especially when the goal is out of retribution and not the love of God. Listen and share with us your thoughts.
Don't forget to listen to other episodes and playlists. Sharing and listening is everything. #MorningWaves #GardeniasGardenPodcast

How is Your Rooster - Part 2 Episode#39
This is the last episode of the part-three series about "rooster mentality" as it relates to leadership. So far, how is your Cock-a-doodle-doo? Is there too much noise? Are the roosters causing the hens to be unproductive? What is your response? What should be your response? You are responsible for changing your behavior, your response!

How is Your Rooster - Part 1 Episode#38
Speaking of roosters! This episode is a part of a three-part series: The Rooster Attack; How is Your Rooster, Part 1 and Part 2. This talk is meant to highlight why "rooster" mentality (attack) resembles humans and leadership. Share this episode and think about the "rooster mentality"among us.

The Rooster Attack - Episode #37
This episode is the beginning tale of our series about roosters. You may have come into contact with roosters unaware. While this is a story about my personal experience with a barnyard rooster, I have learned that roosters exist in other spaces. Yes, the barnyard is not the only place that roosters crow. Jonah is Trippin' Episode #34
Leaders make mistakes. When you close your eyes, your heart, to compassion toward others, it will lead to "vomit." Vomit is foul-tasting and foul-smelling. The result will be people who question your service as a leader who is dedicated to God's agenda of healing the wounded. This episode speaks of Jonah, a preacher, who wanted compassion for himself but could not understand why God, who is slow to anger, slowed mercy toward that nation - the people of Nineveh. In other words, "Slow me mercy, God; but not them."

Rise Up Barnabas - Episode #33

I am thankful for every Barnabas that has come my way. Share with someone else who needs a Barnabas today.

Reflect - Turn the Page
This episode is a simple example of how reflective moments can help you gain a new perspective. Because a person does not voice aloud what he/she wants to say, it does not mean nothing is being said. Listen for the unspoken words.

With so much coming at us each day, it is important to create those safe spaces for conversations. Prepared to Final - Episode #9
This episode will speak to the very serious runner - not sprinters. I truly enjoyed preparing this episode. It was a labor of love for my audience; simply because there are times when we feel defeated. It is those times that we must refocus to finish the race. This episode is to the runner who is in pursuit of doing things right all the time, even if you fall down, you get up. Why? You are prepared to final. Preparation to win is on the condition of being obedient to the Coach.

The Baby is Alive! - Episode #10
In this episode, I share parts of a personal story of what it means that the baby is alive. I am NOT dead! Are you?

The Children are Fighting! - Episode #11
In this episode, I desire to leave you with several thoughts. All of us are in a fight. The difference between winning and losing, maybe the battle. "How does a servant leader fight? Does the servant leader fight in righteousness or to be right? Who is righteous? Do you want to die by your own hands?" Enjoy this episode. Listening is everything.

Break the Yoke - Episode #12
In this episode, I am transparent about there are times that servant leaders feel the weight of everyday living. Living as a servant leader, requires faith. Having faith in God makes the difference in what we hope for.

The Fast That God Ordered - Episode #14
Enjoy this episode of a personal experience by the author, seeking solitude for development that will lead to a place of privacy for refreshing. For everything, there is a season. Fasting is about giving up something of personal value, especially time. We tend to want more time to service our own needs. Intrusion, to us, is invasive. We like to determine what to do with our time. We cannot add nor subtract the hours and minutes of the day. Time is a gift from God, and He wants some of that time for seasoning us. Time is different than a season. In seasons, you expect a harvest time. It contains a process of development. It would help if you planted in the right season to produce the desired fruit. To grow in your season, you must gather the tools for ripening the harvest. Fasting is one of the tools for ripening the crop.

Starting with the Man in the Mirror Mindset - Episode #3
An example of a printed version of "What is Your Mindset" is available on my website bulluckg.com
Our episodes are meant for inspiration, reflection, and meditation.

Keep On Believing - Episode #15
This episode is for those who need to be encouraged on this life journey. You are human. Sometimes, it seems as if the billows are crashing into you; the sky is overcast, and the sun refuses to light your way. It is only temporary. The words in this episode were written around 1839 by Frank Huston. The song is a reminder that God answers the prayers of His children. To be in alignment with what God wants for you is a beautiful thing. Amid the shadows, He is there. You are not alone.

"Do You Have Enough Esther in You?" - Episode #16
This episode is a reminder of how my mother-in-law stood in the gap for me at a time when I could not stand for myself. Everyone needs an "Esther" experience in hard times and an intercessor "to boot." My beautiful mother-in-law left me a legacy that I cherish today. Her view of Esther continues to inspire me. "Is there an Esther in you?" she asked. Forty years later, her view of Esther has made a difference in my life, and I have shared it with others. I pulled from her strength at a time that I needed it most and God gave me an intercessor - a woman of strength in hard times. Everyone needs an "Esther" experience in hard times.

A Place Called These - Episode #17
It sounds weird that I call this place "These." In the last few years, it seems like I have traveled there more and more. No transportation costs are required. I am a "Frequent Flyer."

How many times did people count you out? How many times have people seen only the worst in you? Renew your mind. Think about those things above of how God sees you.

What About Perspective? Episode #22
People seem to have two things: an appetite and an opinion (perspective). That is an old saying of my grandmother about people in general. She had a viewpoint, a philosophy, and an outlook on people that hold. What is your perspective about life? Does it affect your actions? Share your view after listening to this episode on Gardenia's Garden Podcast.

Healing the Ear - Episode #23
One of the topics that I discuss in my book is Proverbial Wisdom. It is one of the repeated themes in the book. One of the lessons that I speak about comes from my maternal grandmother. Her sayings were tied to life, like many wise women of her times. So today, I want to share her expression, “Don’t let your ear be a trash can for others.” In this episode, "heal the ear."

This Day - Episode #24

A Man Called Simon - Episode #29
The background of Simon of Cyrene is recorded in the Gospels of Luke, Matthew and Mark. The character was played by Sidney Poitier in The Greatest Story Ever Told. Whether you are a believer or not, this little-known person has a place in history. Your life can change in an instant. On any day, Simon must show up. Simon must take hold of "the cross." It is a significant part of moving forward. The weight of any cross can be lighter with help. You, the servant leader, must be available. #servantleadership

Size Does Not Determine Strength - Episode #30
This episode is in remembrance of wise tales from my fraternal and maternal grandmothers. It is relevant today. It is to remind us that size does not determine strength. The giant, in your life, can be defeated! Focus on the strategy and not the giant's size. Focus on Him who is able to see you through.

He Can Take It - Episode #31
This episode is dedicated to honor fathers and leading men in our lives. "No matter what the test, whatever comes our way, we're going to make it with Jesus on our side." These words are from the lyrics of "We're Going to Make It" by Myrna Summers and Rev. Timothy Wright. "We're going to make it!" God says, "Bring it on! He can take it. He was bruised for us. You can find your strength in Him. It is by His Spirit that you can be lifted up and know that things will work out. He can take it on for you and He wants to take it on for you!
