Taking a Break

Ryan shares how ministry and life right now has led to needing to take a break from the podcast to focus on ministry and work in this season. But just because the podcast is taking a break doesn’t mean that you can’t keep going on in the Gen1toRev22 project on your own. Appreciate prayers and hope we can do this again soon.

Consequence for Moses’ Sin | Numbers 20:12-13

Consequence for Moses’ Sin | Numbers 20:12-13

Scripture: “Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.” This was the water of Meribah, because the children of Israel contended with the Lord, and He was hallowed among them.” ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭20:12-13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/114/num.20.12-13.NKJV Observations: • Aaron apparently complicit • Sin of unbelief • rather than hallowing the Lord in the congregation’s eyes, Moses & Aaron displayed fleshly anger • consequence: neither one would enter the Promised Land • Meribah (means contention/strife/quarrel) Application: • Hero’s Fall and there are consequences, Deuteronomy‬ ‭32:48-52‬: ‭“Then the Lord spoke to Moses that very same day, saying: “Go up this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, across from Jericho; view the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel as a possession; and die on the mountain which you ascend, and be gathered to your people, just as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people; because you trespassed against Me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah Kadesh, in the Wilderness of Zin, because you did not hallow Me in the midst of the children of Israel. Yet you shall see the land before you, though you shall not go there, into the land which I am giving to the children of Israel.”” • Hero’s fall….yet that’s not whole story in Christ, Hebrews‬ ‭11:24-29‬ “By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible. By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them. By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.” ‭‭ ‭ • check out this article, https://www.gotquestions.org/Moses-promised-land.html Prayer: pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Moses Disobeys the Lord | Numbers 20:10-11

Moses Disobeys the Lord | Numbers 20:10-11

Scripture:
“And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock; and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?” Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭20:10-11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
bible.com/bible/114/num.20.10-11.NKJV

Observations:
• Moses’ anger - you rebels!
• “we” must bring you water
• struck the rock twice, didn’t speak to it

Application:
• Moses did things his own way rather than the Lord’s
• “for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” James‬ ‭1:20‬ ‭

Prayer: “And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” Matthew‬ ‭6:13‬ ‭

Guidance Received | Numbers 20:7-9

Scripture:
“Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals.” So Moses took the rod from before the Lord as He commanded him.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭20:7-9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
bible.com/bible/114/num.20.7-9.NKJV

Observations:
• Take the rod—instrument
• but speak to the rock
• faith not action, prayer not labor in this instance, receive not obtain, gift not earned

Application:
• Rod symbolic of the cross? …typological connection of crucifixion once back in Exodus
• “Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.” I Corinthians‬ ‭10:1-4, 11‬ ‭

Despairing of Thirst | Numbers 20:2-6

Despairing of Thirst | Numbers 20:2-6

Despairing of Thirst | Numbers 20:2-6 Scripture: “Now there was no water for the congregation; so they gathered together against Moses and Aaron. And the people contended with Moses and spoke, saying: “If only we had died when our brethren died before the Lord! Why have you brought up the assembly of the Lord into this wilderness, that we and our animals should die here? And why have you made us come up out of Egypt, to bring us to this evil place? It is not a place of grain or figs or vines or pomegranates; nor is there any water to drink.” So Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, and they fell on their faces. And the glory of the Lord appeared to them.” ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭20:2-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/114/num.20.2-6.NKJV Observations: • No water • thirsty people • whole congregation contended against Moses and Aaron • saying it would have been better to die before the Lord (implying like the rebels?) • longing for Egypt, reminiscing of the bounties of slavery. How tempting it is to live like the world • Moses & Aaron take it to the Lord’s Presence Application: James 4:1-3 “Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.” 1 John 2:15-17 “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” Prayer: the direction of God’s presence “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalms‬ ‭16:11‬ ‭ This Podcast is brought to you by FMM: Focusing on the Mark Ministries ~ keep living a Matthew 6:33 live until He comes. Miriam Dies | Numbers 20:1

Scripture:
“Then the children of Israel, the whole congregation, came into the Wilderness of Zin in the first month, and the people stayed in Kadesh; and Miriam died there and was buried there.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭20:1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
bible.com/bible/114/num.20.1.NKJV

Observations:
• Congregation on the move
• Location: wilderness of Zin/Sin. Pull out a Bible map.
• Kadesh
• Miriam died and buried

Application:
• Fulfillment of the consequences of the death of a generation taking place
• Key leader of women passes
• Grief (theology of death):
Romans‬ ‭12:15‬ “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.”
I Thessalonians‬ ‭4:13-14 “But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.”
Revelation‬ ‭21:4‬ ‭“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.””

Prayer: pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Ask Him to do in You what His Word teaches.

Disfellowshipped and Impure | Numbers 19:20-22

Disfellowshipped and Impure | Numbers 19:20-22

Scripture: “‘But the man who is unclean and does not purify himself, that person shall be cut off from among the assembly, because he has defiled the sanctuary of the Lord. The water of purification has not been sprinkled on him; he is unclean. It shall be a perpetual statute for them. He who sprinkles the water of purification shall wash his clothes; and he who touches the water of purification shall be unclean until evening. Whatever the unclean person touches shall be unclean; and the person who touches it shall be unclean until evening.’ ”” ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭19:20-22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ bible.com/bible/114/num.19.20-22.NKJV

Announcements:
It’s Friday special! To update our partners in Gen1toRev22, we’ve moved away from social media and continued to see stable listening numbers. The audience has begun to grow more consistent for which all credit goes to the Lord. It is an encouragement to hear of others being encouraged through this simple podcast.
It’s been a busy season full of both productivity and much needed refueling. Trying to personally focus on balanced rest after a very busy/stressful time since 2020. To be more often like Mary, than do more like Martha.

Observations:
• If someone chose to not purify themselves, not to pursue consecration, then they would be disfellowshipped.
• reiteration of the cleansing process

Application:
We we do not abide in obedience, our relationship struggles, we will feel distant, even be disconnected from the assembly of God’s people.

“You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” John‬ ‭15:3-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

““If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” John‬ ‭14:15-17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” I John‬ ‭4:20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Prayer: pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Ask Him to do in You what His Word teaches.

Purification from Sin | Numbers 19:17-19

Purification from Sin | Numbers 19:17-19

Scripture: “‘And for an unclean person they shall take some of the ashes of the heifer burnt for purification from sin, and running water shall be put on them in a vessel. A clean person shall take hyssop and dip it in the water, sprinkle it on the tent, on all the vessels, on the persons who were there, or on the one who touched a bone, the slain, the dead, or a grave. The clean person shall sprinkle the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day; and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, wash his clothes, and bathe in water; and at evening he shall be clean.” Numbers‬ ‭19:17-19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ bible.com/bible/114/num.19.17-19.NKJV

Observations:
• 3rd and 7th day
• kept going back to the same sacrifice for cleansing power
• it took time to cleanse oneself

Application:
There is wonder working power in the blood of Jesus! We need to apply the blood by faith. The Jews always went back to the same source for purification from sin, foreshadowing how Christ is the one source, the perfect sacrifice we return to for cleansing power.

“but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness” I Corinthians‬ ‭1:23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience.”
‭‭I Timothy‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Prayer: pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Ask Him to do in You what His Word teaches.

It takes time to Get Clean | Numbers 19:11-16

It takes time to Get Clean | Numbers 19:11-16

Scripture: “‘He who touches the dead body of anyone shall be unclean seven days. He shall purify himself with the water on the third day and on the seventh day; then he will be clean. But if he does not purify himself on the third day and on the seventh day, he will not be clean. Whoever touches the body of anyone who has died, and does not purify himself, defiles the tabernacle of the Lord. That person shall be cut off from Israel. He shall be unclean, because the water of purification was not sprinkled on him; his uncleanness is still on him. ‘This is the law when a man dies in a tent: All who come into the tent and all who are in the tent shall be unclean seven days; and every open vessel, which has no cover fastened on it, is unclean. Whoever in the open field touches one who is slain by a sword or who has died, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.” ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭19:11-16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ bible.com/bible/114/num.19.11-16.NKJV

Observations:
• We have a need for propitiation (for the covering of our sin).
• The specific situation does not seem to be one’s own sin but the contact with the result of sin, namely, death.
• 3rd and 7th days…

Application:
We have need of going back to the same source for cleansing as well. We go back to Christ, the incarnate Word.

“My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.”
‭‭I John‬ ‭2:1-2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:19-22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Prayer: pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Ask Him to do in You what His Word teaches.

I Need to Be Pure | Numbers 19:1-10

I Need to Be Pure | Numbers 19:1-10

Scripture: “Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, “This is the ordinance of the law which the Lord has commanded, saying: ‘Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring you a red heifer without blemish, in which there is no defect and on which a yoke has never come. You shall give it to Eleazar the priest, that he may take it outside the camp, and it shall be slaughtered before him; and Eleazar the priest shall take some of its blood with his finger, and sprinkle some of its blood seven times directly in front of the tabernacle of meeting. Then the heifer shall be burned in his sight: its hide, its flesh, its blood, and its offal shall be burned. And the priest shall take cedar wood and hyssop and scarlet, and cast them into the midst of the fire burning the heifer. Then the priest shall wash his clothes, he shall bathe in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp; the priest shall be unclean until evening. And the one who burns it shall wash his clothes in water, bathe in water, and shall be unclean until evening. Then a man who is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and store them outside the camp in a clean place; and they shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for the water of purification; it is for purifying from sin. And the one who gathers the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until evening. It shall be a statute forever to the children of Israel and to the stranger who dwells among them.” Numbers‬ ‭19:1-10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ bible.com/bible/114/num.19.2-10.NKJV

Observations:
• Cedar wood (a prized commodity), Hyssop (apply/lather cleansing on), scarlet (sin/blood covering). Exodus 12:22, Isaiah 1:18
• keep ashes of the red heifer
• clean vs. unclean

Application:
You have a need for cleansing in your daily walk. Spiritual uncleanness hinders our fellowship and our sanctification.

“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John‬ ‭1:5-9‬ ‭NKJV

The Design of the Tithe | Numbers 18v21to32

The Design of the Tithe | Numbers 18v21to32

Scripture:
““Behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tithes in Israel as an inheritance in return for the work which they perform, the work of the tabernacle of meeting. Hereafter the children of Israel shall not come near the tabernacle of meeting, lest they bear sin and die. But the Levites shall perform the work of the tabernacle of meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity; it shall be a statute forever, throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance. For the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer up as a heave offering to the Lord, I have given to the Levites as an inheritance; therefore I have said to them, ‘Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.’ ” Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak thus to the Levites, and say to them: ‘When you take from the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them as your inheritance, then you shall offer up a heave offering of it to the Lord, a tenth of the tithe. And your heave offering shall be reckoned to you as though it were the grain of the threshing floor and as the fullness of the winepress. Thus you shall also offer a heave offering to the Lord from all your tithes which you receive from the children of Israel, and you shall give the Lord’s heave offering from it to Aaron the priest. Of all your gifts you shall offer up every heave offering due to the Lord, from all the best of them, the consecrated part of them.’ Therefore you shall say to them: ‘When you have lifted up the best of it, then the rest shall be accounted to the Levites as the produce of the threshing floor and as the produce of the winepress. You may eat it in any place, you and your households, for it is your reward for your work in the tabernacle of meeting. And you shall bear no sin because of it, when you have lifted up the best of it. But you shall not profane the holy gifts of the children of Israel, lest you die.’ ””
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭18:21-32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
bible.com/bible/114/num.18.21-32.NKJV

Observations:
• One clarification for the big picture of the Old Covenant: there were multiple tithes under the Law, totaling 23% or so yearly. However, this one was for the support of the Levites specifically.
• Notice that the Levites tithed the best on the tithe they received, the “pastors” and “Christian workers” weren’t exempt.
• The people gave the tithe not to the ministers but to the Lord; likewise the Levite gave their tithe not to themselves but to the Lord. This was not a welfare system but a system of giving to the Lord and He in turn multiplied and furthered His work through it.
• Notice also the repeated wording that this reward/payment/wages for the Levites’ service was accounted as if it were grain or produce in the Lord’s sight. In other words, it was not a dedicated offering that must be eaten within the Lord’s presence, rather it was groceries. It became “common provision” rather than a “blessed observance.”

Application:
Giving to the Lord is fundamentally to the Lord Himself, not a donation to His work. We can give gifts of “donation” above and beyond but our regular giving should be of the best of the fruits of our labor to the Lord. We do not give to the pastor or the church really and if we are, we are doing it wrong. We are to give unto the Lord. And ministers’ you ain’t exempted.

Prayer: pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Ask Him to do in You what His Word teaches.

What Won’t Be Provided | Numbers 18v20

What Won’t Be Provided | Numbers 18v20

Scripture:
“Then the Lord said to Aaron: “You shall have no inheritance in their land, nor shall you have any portion among them; I am your portion and your inheritance among the children of Israel.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭18:20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
bible.com/bible/114/num.18.20.NKJV

Observations:
- No inheritance of land like the other Tribes, no “county.”

Application:
Many ministers live even today moving from place to place in serving the Lord and His people, not enjoying owning a home. Like our Lord Jesus who had no home, they give up a “homestead” in order to serve. And yet there is the special provision even in this clear delineation of what will not be provided that the Lord is their portion and inheritance.

Prayer: pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Ask Him to do in You what His Word teaches.

The Lord’s Provision for the Priests | Numbers 18v8to19

The Lord’s Provision for the Priests | Numbers 18v8to19

Observations:
• The Lord provided for Aaron’s line through the sacrificial system and through the first fruits/firstborns.
• Notice the detail of how the Lord provided for the priests and how all of it was a portioned provision, requiring faith and daily reliance. They did the spiritual work faithfully, the Lord fed them and their families.

Application:
As it has been said, where the Lord calls, He provides and as our Lord taught us to pray, may we rely on our Heavenly Father’s daily bread.
“Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, 12lest—when you have eaten and are [e]full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them; 13and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are [f]multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; 14when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; 15who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock; 16who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end— 17then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’
18“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may [h]establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. 19Then it shall be, if you by any means forget the Lord your God, and follow other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish. 20As the nations which the Lord destroys before you, so you shall perish, because you would not be obedient to the voice of the Lord your God.” Deuteronomy 8:11-20

Prayer: pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Ask Him to do in You what His Word teaches.

Job Description for the Priests and Levites | Numbers 18v1to7

SOAP
Scripture:
“Then the Lord said to Aaron: “You and your sons and your father’s house with you shall bear the iniquity related to the sanctuary, and you and your sons with you shall bear the iniquity associated with your priesthood. Also bring with you your brethren of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, that they may be joined with you and serve you while you and your sons are with you before the tabernacle of witness. They shall attend to your needs and all the needs of the tabernacle; but they shall not come near the articles of the sanctuary and the altar, lest they die—they and you also. They shall be joined with you and attend to the needs of the tabernacle of meeting, for all the work of the tabernacle; but an outsider shall not come near you. And you shall attend to the duties of the sanctuary and the duties of the altar, that there may be no more wrath on the children of Israel. Behold, I Myself have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel; they are a gift to you, given by the Lord, to do the work of the tabernacle of meeting. Therefore you and your sons with you shall attend to your priesthood for everything at the altar and behind the veil; and you shall serve. I give your priesthood to you as a gift for service, but the outsider who comes near shall be put to death.””
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭18:1-7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
bible.com/bible/114/num.18.1-7.NKJV

Observations:
• Aaron’s line would bear the iniquity for God’s house and the priesthood
• The Levites would serve as associates alongside and “under” Aaron’s line in the ministry.
• The associate ministry of the Levites were a Gift from the Lord to the priests.
• The priesthood was a gift of service, not a presumed and assumed office. It was ordained, called, a separated work not of position and power but of service to the Lord and His people.

Application:
The priesthood under the Old Covenant was exclusive and special. Not just anyone could decide to be a priest. You had to be called and have the proper heredity. What the priests and their helpers the Levites pictured and foreshadowed in their ministry, Christ came as the climax: servant and priest. He made the final atoning work for us. No one could presume to be the Messiah or assume the duties of the New Covenant High Priesthood. Every Believer has now become associate priests to God and for His service in being born again by the Gospel, 1 Peter 2:4-5 (NKJV) says,
“4Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, 5you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

Prayer: pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Ask Him to do in You what His Word teaches.

A Rod & Ending Complaints | Numbers 17

A Rod & Ending Complaints | Numbers 17

SOAP
Scripture

“And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to the children of Israel, and get from them a rod from each father’s house, all their leaders according to their fathers’ houses—twelve rods. Write each man’s name on his rod. And you shall write Aaron’s name on the rod of Levi. For there shall be one rod for the head of each father’s house. Then you shall place them in the tabernacle of meeting before the Testimony, where I meet with you. And it shall be that the rod of the man whom I choose will blossom; thus I will rid Myself of the complaints of the children of Israel, which they make against you.” So Moses spoke to the children of Israel, and each of their leaders gave him a rod apiece, for each leader according to their fathers’ houses, twelve rods; and the rod of Aaron was among their rods. And Moses placed the rods before the Lord in the tabernacle of witness. Now it came to pass on the next day that Moses went into the tabernacle of witness, and behold, the rod of Aaron, of the house of Levi, had sprouted and put forth buds, had produced blossoms and yielded ripe almonds. Then Moses brought out all the rods from before the Lord to all the children of Israel; and they looked, and each man took his rod. And the Lord said to Moses, “Bring Aaron’s rod back before the Testimony, to be kept as a sign against the rebels, that you may put their complaints away from Me, lest they die.” Thus did Moses; just as the Lord had commanded him, so he did. So the children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, “Surely we die, we perish, we all perish! Whoever even comes near the tabernacle of the Lord must die. Shall we all utterly die?””
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭17:1-13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
bible.com/bible/114/num.17.1-13.NKJV

Observations:
• 12 rods, representing leaders of the 12 tribes to display who is the chosen leader
• Purpose: to rid the Lord of complaints against the leadership
• Aaron’s sprouts blossoms and bears the fruit of almonds
• Aaron’s rod was to be kept as a sign against the rebels, a memorial to cease complaining lest they die
• the people are trembling before the Lord, clearing seeing the death they deserve

Application:
The Lord calls and establishes leadership and our ungodly rebellion justly deserves the Lord’s judgment. Are we serving the Lord or men like unto ourselves?

Prayer: pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Ask Him to do in You what His Word teaches.

Complaining Again…the Day after Judgment by Fire! | Numbers 16v36to50

Complaining Again…the Day after Judgment by Fire! | Numbers 16v36to50

Show Notes
Scripture: “Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Tell Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, to pick up the censers out of the blaze, for they are holy, and scatter the fire some distance away. The censers of these men who sinned against their own souls, let them be made into hammered plates as a covering for the altar. Because they presented them before the Lord, therefore they are holy; and they shall be a sign to the children of Israel.” So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers, which those who were burned up had presented, and they were hammered out as a covering on the altar, to be a memorial to the children of Israel that no outsider, who is not a descendant of Aaron, should come near to offer incense before the Lord, that he might not become like Korah and his companions, just as the Lord had said to him through Moses. On the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, saying, “You have killed the people of the Lord.” Now it happened, when the congregation had gathered against Moses and Aaron, that they turned toward the tabernacle of meeting; and suddenly the cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared. Then Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of meeting. And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Get away from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.” And they fell on their faces. So Moses said to Aaron, “Take a censer and put fire in it from the altar, put incense on it, and take it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them; for wrath has gone out from the Lord. The plague has begun.” Then Aaron took it as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the assembly; and already the plague had begun among the people. So he put in the incense and made atonement for the people. And he stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped. Now those who died in the plague were fourteen thousand seven hundred, besides those who died in the Korah incident. So Aaron returned to Moses at the door of the tabernacle of meeting, for the plague had stopped.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭16:36-50‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
bible.com/bible/114/num.16.36-50.NKJV

Observations:
• The incense censers of the rebels to been turned into a covering for the altar, a memorial sign to the people
• The separation of the priesthood and the congregation under the Old Covenant
• The very next day! The congregation complained again. Notice they are called the CHILDREN of Israel.
• The Lord is righteously angry and once again Moses and Aaron intercede foreshadowing Christ’s ministry for all Believers
• Aaron moves quickly with a censer (same instrument the rebels used) however used in the right office, it became an instrument of atonement and stayed the plague
• Aaron stood between the dead and the living in Atonement. That is rich with significance!
• The accounting detail is mentioned, 14,700 did in the plague in addition to the 250+ in Korah’s rebellion

Application:
The Holiness of the Lord demands separation from wickedness. Rather than acting in childlike faith and obedience, the people, much like us too often, respond rather in selfish childishness and complaining. The Lord, the Heavenly Father of His people, is justly angry and begins discipline His wayward children. While fully deserving of death, it is Moses and Aaron who interceded and specifically Aaron, the High Priest, who runs to atone for the people’s sin. He ends up standing dividing the living and the dead. Our Savior Jesus does the same today. He stands making atonement and those on His side are atoned for and saved from death; those opposite Him are dead in trespasses and sins eternally.

Prayer: pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Ask Him to do in You what His Word teaches.

Wed - Judgment Rendered | Numbers 16:20-35

Intro - Narrative

“And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, “Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.” Then they fell on their faces, and said, “O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and You be angry with all the congregation?” So the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the congregation, saying, ‘Get away from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.’ ” Then Moses rose and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him. And he spoke to the congregation, saying, “Depart now from the tents of these wicked men! Touch nothing of theirs, lest you be consumed in all their sins.” So they got away from around the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram; and Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the door of their tents, with their wives, their sons, and their little children. And Moses said: “By this you shall know that the Lord has sent me to do all these works, for I have not done them of my own will. If these men die naturally like all men, or if they are visited by the common fate of all men, then the Lord has not sent me. But if the Lord creates a new thing, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the pit, then you will understand that these men have rejected the Lord.” Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods. So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly. Then all Israel who were around them fled at their cry, for they said, “Lest the earth swallow us up also!” And a fire came out from the Lord and consumed the two hundred and fifty men who were offering incense.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭16:20-35‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
bible.com/bible/114/num.16.20-35.NKJV

Observations:
• The people separated in obedience from the wicked
• Moses was justified
• The Lord sees everything, He sees the depths of your heart
• Those consumed were accountable for rejecting the Lord

Applications
• Moses and Aaron falling on their faces intercede for the people, picturing Christ in His ministry of mercy on behalf of the saints
• Unbelievers destroyed, Jude 5-11
• Your individual unbelief and rebellion against the Lord effects your family
• The Lord is not a weak-willed, effeminate. He is mighty, just and righteous.
• Holy 1 Peter 1:13-16

Tue - Resistance to Resolution | Numbers ‭16:8-21‬

“Then Moses said to Korah, “Hear now, you sons of Levi: Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the work of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the congregation to serve them; and that He has brought you near to Himself, you and all your brethren, the sons of Levi, with you? And are you seeking the priesthood also? Therefore you and all your company are gathered together against the Lord. And what is Aaron that you complain against him?”
And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, but they said, “We will not come up! Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, that you should keep acting like a prince over us? Moreover you have not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We will not come up!”
Then Moses was very angry, and said to the Lord, “Do not respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, nor have I hurt one of them.”
And Moses said to Korah, “Tomorrow, you and all your company be present before the Lord—you and they, as well as Aaron. Let each take his censer and put incense in it, and each of you bring his censer before the Lord, two hundred and fifty censers; both you and Aaron, each with his censer.” So every man took his censer, put fire in it, laid incense on it, and stood at the door of the tabernacle of meeting with Moses and Aaron. And Korah gathered all the congregation against them at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. Then the glory of the Lord appeared to all the congregation.
And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, “Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.””
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭16:8-21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
bible.com/bible/114/num.16.8-21.NKJV

Observations:
• Exposing the root of the issue it seems, Korah presuming to be a priest.
• Refusal to even meet.
• Unrealistic (and unbiblical) “reasons” cited for not complying.
• Fear for own reputation.
• Moses was angry.
• Repeat of how we’re gonna settle this, you’re gonna come stand before the Lord.
• The Lord’s glory comes and a separation is ordered for the rebels are going to be consumed.

Applications:
• An outburst has a root issue
• I actually just talked with someone about this today, if someone will not meet, it is a mark of true hardness of heart.
• Are we rational, prayerful and submitted to the Lord (and the authority He has given us)?
• Prayer point: spiritual Leadership struggles with anger in the midst of contention among God’s people.
• Keep the process centered on coming before and submitting to the Lord. The Biblical way.

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:28-29‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Mon - Setting the Stage for Rebellion | Numbers 16:1-7

“Now Korah the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men; and they rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, representatives of the congregation, men of renown. They gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “You take too much upon yourselves, for all the congregation is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”
So when Moses heard it, he fell on his face; and he spoke to Korah and all his company, saying, “Tomorrow morning the Lord will show who is His and who is holy, and will cause him to come near to Him. That one whom He chooses He will cause to come near to Him. Do this: Take censers, Korah and all your company; put fire in them and put incense in them before the Lord tomorrow, and it shall be that the man whom the Lord chooses is the holy one. You take too much upon yourselves, you sons of Levi!””
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭16:1-7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
bible.com/bible/114/num.16.1-7.NKJV

Observations:
• Korah, Dathan, Abiram and On - ringleaders of 250 power players in the congregation.
• Accusation is made that Moses and Aaron have too much authority. Emphasis on equality and entitlement to more power by these rebels
• Moses responds in humility it seems, he falls on his face and submits to the Lord’s examination.
• The Lord will choose who can approach him.

Applications:
• How we relate to authority reveals a lot about our spirituality.
• We cannot assume, presume, or worship in the way we fashion, we must approach the Lord on His terms.
• The Lord will exercise the vengeance. We don’t have to

Closing Prayer:

““But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. “But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.” Luke‬ ‭6:27-36‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners. And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined, and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your God. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the Lord your God.””
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭15:37-41‬ ‭NKJV‬

Observations
• The Lord speaks again
• Moses relays the message
• Tassels of blue were to be on the Israelites’ clothing to remind them of the commandments of the Lord, to provoke remembrance that the people not drift into spiritual (and often literal) harlotry.
• Our eyes and heart are not to be trusted. Their vision was minuscule and their heart was wayward.
• The Lord who freed them from bondage was to be their God.

Applications
• When the Lord speaks, we are to listen.
• We need to be reminded.
• Our eyes and heart are not to be trusted. We walk by faith not by sight. We are follow the Lord and His will, not our deceitful hearts which are selfish and prideful.
• Building on the previous discussion of willful and unintentional sin, we are reminded that our Lord is Holy. He is separate, perfect, pure.
• We have been bought from the world, from bondage to sin and Satan by the power of the Gospel, ushered through the waters of death unto new life in Christ Jesus symbolized by our baptism. We have been given a new life and have an eternal promised land we look forward to. We, though tempted and tried, are to live for our Lord.
• God’s people are tempted to compromise and look like the world rather than be separate and a witness to it.

Prayer: pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Ask Him to do in You what His Word teaches.

Hymn: Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing
Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wand’ring from the face of God;
He, to save my soul from danger,
Interposed His precious blood.
2
O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let that grace, Lord, like a fetter,
Bind my wand’ring heart to Thee.
Teach me, Lord, some rapturous measure,
Meet for me Thy grace to prove,
While I sing the countless treasure
Of my God’s unchanging love.
3
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it;
Prone to leave the God I love:
Take my heart, oh, take and seal it
With Thy Spirit from above.
Rescued thus from sin and danger,
Purchased by the Savior’s blood,
May I walk on earth a stranger,
As a son and heir of God.

Philosophy
ryanmmarks.com/genesis-1-to-revelation-22-project/
The Genesis 1 to Revelation 22 Project often follows the simple SOAP method to equip you to delve into your Bible and share God’s Word with others.
S cripture – read the Bible
O bservation – observe the context
A pplication – apply to life and worldview
P ray – in line with the Word
Ryan, also has a focus on Expository-Apologetics when teaching Gen1toRev22. This means that there is an undergirding, prayerful motivation that as the message of the Bible is exposed and explained that there is an opportunity to answer questions, defend, and share the Christian Faith.

Observation
- a repeated sacrifice upon the bread of the land
- teach from generation to generation

Application
- The Lord had provided daily bread miraculously, Manna, in the wilderness. In the Promised land, the people would be blessed with growing the grain and receiving a crop. The Lord’s blessing through abundant provision of the land was likewise to continually humble them, produce thankfulness and cause them to remember the Lord.

Mon - The Power of Intercession | Numbers 14v11to19

Observations & Application -The Lord reveals His heart, his feeling - Moses represents a foreshadow, a type of Christ our Lord as He responds in intercession - We see the importance of witness / testimony, of ours and of the Lord’s - Character of God: long-suffering, abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity (shame fullness) and transgression (lawlessness) - Your sin won’t be hidden or passed over forever. The Lord’s character includes visiting iniquity, bringing judgement - The Gospel, the Good News, is Forgiveness that we don’t deserve and never will deserve on the basis of Christ alone. God’s free gift in Christ that we trust by faith and live for by His power This Podcast is brought to you by FMM: Focusing on the Mark Ministries ~ keep living a Matthew 6:33 live until He comes Gen1toRev22.com

New Friday segment: ways to support/ministry announcements If you’d like to support. I truly covet your prayers. You can show your support be subscribing or leaving a review of the podcast and resharing episodes to others. The more our audience grows, the more revenue from sponsors becomes possible. Same on YouTube views. If you’d like to more directly support you can donate a book on my Amazon reading list which you can find under the support tab on the website. Or You can become a partner on Patreon and we have several levels of patrons available. Every bit helps. My hope is through crowdfunding, sponsorships, and book royalties to be able to fund devoting more of my time to this program and the hub of ministries that are also part of FMM. Lastly, Check out the updated website at Gen1toRev22.com. There are free resources available with, Lord willing, more on the way b/f the end of there year. So add the blog to your feedly or website favorites and check in for more content. And I won’t say too much now but there is an exciting plan in the works in regard to publishing and resources I’m creating. Be praying for that, more details hopefully will be announced probably early next year. Observations - whole congregation weeping, complaining against leadership, despairing of their lives - a motion made to vote a leader & return to Egypt (which is a type of the world, compromise, and bondage in sin) - Moses & Aaron fall on their faces - Joshua & Caleb, spies, tear their clothes in grieving and admonish the people 1) not to rebel, 2) not to fear, and 3) to remember the Lord is with them: obey. But the congregation proposes stoning them. - The Lord’s glory appears in the Tabernacle to all Applications - will of the majority is often wrong - the people enter a business meeting (let’s put our heads together), rather than a prayer meeting like in Acts - most weep in despair, 4 it seems weep in grief for the waywardness of God’s people - God’s sheep are persecuted by the goats - Beholding the Lord silences all parties Prayer This passage deals with God’s people’s rebellion, fear, and compromise. Pray for God’s people - your local church and local churches you know of. Truly pray for congregations to behold the Lord and obediently be a prayer meeting church. this podcast is brought to you by Focusing on the Mark Ministries, Live a Matthew 6:33 Live until He comes

Thur - We Can’t Do It! | Numbers 13v31to33

Observations
- We can’t do it
- Excuses:
- They’re Stronger
- Giving a Bad Report
- Giants, Hebrew is Nephilim
- We feel like grasshoppers

Application
Fear causes us to feel we can’t, leads to making excuses, encourages us to our a slant on how we talk. And it all comes full circle in being mastered by emotion: back to how we feel, feeling puny…and that must be how other see us to. The core issue in all of this is: Where is the Lord in their mess? Their perspective is Me not He.

Prayer: personally pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Ask Him to do in You what His Word teaches.

Fri - Parameters of Spying | Numbers 13v17to20

Observations/Applications from a Biblical, theological and pastoral perspective
I. Sent out with a Commission / called not by our choice but appointed to serve and do by God
II. Specifics - where to spy / Jerusalem, Judaea, Samaria, Ends of the Earth, one preacher has put it something like this: start where you are, then go to where they don’t like you then go where you don’t like them, then everywhere else.
III. Take notes of what you see: the land, the strength of the people, number of the people, cities fortified or village?, fertility of the land, bring samples / how can you apply this to your marriage, parenting or workplace as Bro. Ryan shared the analogy of how these descriptor could be applied to church revitalization
IV. It was the season of first grape harvest / the fields are ripe but the workers are few

Ref. Acts 1

Prayer: pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Ask Him to do in You what His Word teaches.

Thur - 12 Spies Sent and One Renamed | Numbers 13v1to16

Observations on the Context:
- 1 spy representing each tribe, respectfully
- sent according to God’s command

Observation/Application
- Hoshea “salvation” changed to Joshua (Yeshua, the shared name of the Lord Jesus) “Yahweh/The Lord is Salvation”
-Saul “ask for” even ‘death’/rebel to Paul “small” “humble” ‘Little’ Paul was nothing without or apart from Christ

Applications of the Text:
- Believers who change their names once they begin following Christ
- Christian parents prayerfully considering their children’s names

Prayer: Father, thank you that in Christ we have been given a new family name. We were dead in trespasses and sins, You breathed new life into us through the Gospel and we now share a future as co-heirs alongside Your Son because of the precious blood of Jesus. We are not defined by our past. Our given names are not our ultimate identity. Our identity and defining come from Christ. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

Wed - Racism and a Coup | Numbers 12v1to16

Observations on the Context: I. Miriam and Aaron draw the Ethnic card and the Control card II. The Lord: you three, come here III. Honor Authority, I (the Lord) have Established IV. Miriam - leprous & Aaron acknowledge their join foolishness and sin V. Moses intercedes VI. “Process” of healing and restoration VII. Moving on Applications of the Text: - As Moses grew in fear of the Lord, his humility, he grew bolder. - Do we pray for those who have wronged us: for their restoration, healing and blessing in the Lord? -Proper shame/ashamedness (not ongoing guilt/condemnation) has a purpose and blessing -We can move on, repentant and restored, with the Lord Prayer: pray the passage and how the Holy Spirit has convicted you back to the Lord. Tue - Spreading the Leadership Load | Numbers 11v16to35

Observations: I. Lord-directed: Gather 70 men who are elders II. Spreading of the Spirit (He empowers and equips) III.The Lord gave the people the meat they wanted for a whole month (Illustration: Parent saying ok, and giving their child pancakes for a month until they are sick of them) IV. Moses: How will you do this, Lord? Do you expect me to do it? V. Lord responds basically: Can I not do it? You shall see VI. Sign of the Spirit’s coming here—they prophesied VII. Eldad and Medad VIII. Verse 29 VIV. Quail & Plague Applications: - The spreading of the Spirit - a rarity in the OT, but the privilege of every NT Believer. The Holy Spirit indwells every Believer. Likewise, every Believer is to desire the gift of prophecy to boldly proclaim the Gospel. - Moses complained directly to the Lord. The burden impacted him. The people, without the Spirit, were only able to complain to Moses their mediator. Because of the Blood of Jesus, every Believer can go to the Lord directly. - Complaining leads to craving (lust) which in turn leads to compromise. The Desire for Egypt was regarded as better than freedom in the Lord. Rather than receiving His daily provision (and we as Believers pray for our daily bread, Matt 6), they wanted a slave’s ration. - The sin unto death as a result of the quail plague was meant to be a lesson for the whole nation. They were meant to learn from this and teach their children and grandchildren. Prayer: Thank You that we are not alone and even when we don’t understand, You Provide. Lord, how often have we behaved just like the Israelites whom you justly struck dead. Father, complaining is a serious sin, much more serious than we are prone to treat it. Forgive us, Father, fill us with Your Spirit & Guard the affects of our heart. Refs.
