Gokul Padmanabhan is the Owner of Restoration Brokers of America.   Gokul has brokered hundreds of sales for restoration company owners.  I have an incredible conversation with him about business, growing and eventually selling.  There are so many takeaways from this conversation that I feel a lot of owners are not thinking about, me included.  For me, I focus a lot on working and providing value to the customer, but I have not thought about or dedicated enough time to build my business as my investment.  This is one of my favorite conversations I've had and I learned a lot talking with Gokul.  I can not wait to talk to him again and in fact, have already scheduled our next conversation.  Grab a notepad before you listen to this one!

Dennis Bruders is the Product Manager of Cleaning Products at Legend Brands.  Dennis and I have been trying to meet up since I moved to Washington and it has finally happened!  I arrived at Legend Brand headquarters in Burlington around 9am and Dennis gave me a tour.  He showed me the factory, we looked at product assembly lines, toured the new warehouse and watched the speed lift in use, saw the new injection mold machine, toured the flood house, got to demo new equipment and software and more.  After the tour we got lunch, then went back to Dennis's house to relax with a beer and record a podcast.  It was a great day!

Barry Wilson is the VP of Aramsco Restoration Rentals.  He is a Certified Restorer and an Air Systems Cleaning Specialist that started in the restoration industry in 1999.  Barry was the Vice President of Midwest Rental Service and was key in growing that company until it was acquired by Aramsco in 2017.  I was able to meet up with Barry at his office in Indianapolis and talk with him about his background, growing Midwest Rental, the acquisition, some large projects and saving squirrels.  Barry has been a long time supporter of mine and it was great to catch up with him!

Elan Pasmanick is the owner of Born To Repair.  Elan has a background in appliance repair and  has started a business specializing in onsite repair of restoration equipment.  He is also working on an online seminar to teach others how to repair their own equipment.   I was able to talk with Elan about starting a new business, common repairs, marketing on social media, growing up in Israel, and his new seminar.  Elan has a very cool business model to save contractors money.  I have been following Elan for over a year and am excited to have him on the podcast!

Rick McGuigan is the President of Pine Ridge Cleaning and Restoration located just outside of Cleveland Ohio.  Rick started as a carpet cleaner working for Pine Ridge, eventually bought the company and then added restoration services.  We talk about his growth, his passion for helping people, team members, building relationships and some Christmas stories.  I have known Rick for about 10 years, he was one of the first contractors to start using our power boxes.  It was really good to catch up with him.

Mark Springer owner of Dayspring Restoration is back! I had a great conversation with Mark on Ep. 42 but time ran out before we could talk about our hunting seasons. In this conversation we start by talking about the book “Scaling Up” by Verne Harnish that Mark recommended in the first podcast, then transition to our passion for hunting. Mark is a very skillful and accomplished hunter. He has hunted his home state of Montana his whole life, even venturing into wilderness areas and has also taken multiple trips to completely remote areas of Alaska. I absolutely love talking to Mark and hearing about his experiences. I cannot wait to talk to him again…who knows, the next time might be both of us on top of a mountain!

Clint Junell is a partner at Mr. Restore and Job-Dox based outside of Dallas.  Clint started Mr. Restore in 2009.  He created software to solve some pain points in Mr. Restore while managing and communicating on restoration projects.  Today that software has grown into its own company called Job-Dox and is now available to all service companies.  Clint and I talk about how he started both of his companies, marketing, all about Job-Dox, some mountain biking and hockey tournaments.  Clint is a great guy focused on providing value first.  I really enjoyed talking with him .

I'm really excited about this podcast!!!  I have 4 restoration business owners who are in there second or third year of business talking to me about there experiences so far.  The 4 owners are Mike McFadden at Hero Remediation (first interview), Tim Kreczmer at Puro-Clean (interview starts 21:00). Cory Martin at C&C Restoration (interview starts 45:00) and Trey Raines at Raines Restoration (interview starts 1:03:30).  All of these guys have different backgrounds, different approaches, different markets, different focuses, different goals, etc.  There is such a variety here it is just AWESOME!!  The value isn't just for restoration but even new business in general.  "The New Guys" may just be a new recurring segment, that's how good I think it is!  Enjoy!!

Rocky Hensley is the owner of ICON Property Restoration based in Cincinnati.  Rocky is a serial entrepreneur and I am always excited to talk to him and find out what he is working on...He is always working on something!  In this conversation we talk about the sale of a mortgage business, getting started in water restoration, the 550 pound bear he shot and some other hunting stories, but mainly we talk about his new project.  Rocky  shares the development of a "snap-on" service/company he added to his restoration company that originally was just supposed to generate water leads.   After 2 years the company is generating leads but also making money...A lot of money!  I was happy to have Rocky on the podcast.  He is always building, growing or innovating something.  I can't wait to talk to him again.
