Then, continuing the Top 10 list of most haunted places in the City of Hamilton. 2 of the spots so haunted, we feature them on Ghost Walks. Including the legendary Dundurn Castle. And the oldest operational engine in all of Canada, and the very dark event which birthed it.

Real Screaming Tunnel & Pareidolia, Real or Fake featuring the Scottish Rite
Thorold’s infamous haunt, The Screaming Tunnel. A historic train tunnel never used by any train. Believed to be an access point from some houses on the forested side of the tunnel to the main road. A great hiding place, for innocent activities. Or a horrifically violent act done by a drunk, rage-filled father.
But is the legend real? Daniel discusses the legitimacy of this story. Comparing it to a famous haunt from his own past. And another legend told to a local historian by the last surviving resident of the old forest village. Spoiler… not tragic at all.
Then it’s time to get all scientific! The occurrence of something called Pareidolia. Simply, it means the mind’s habit of turning objects into things we will recognized. Based upon our psyche. Possibly the reason why we see such amazing things in reflections, shadows and orbs. Oh my!
How to tell the difference between a not-so-real and real ghost photo. Featuring a ghost photo from inside the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in Hamilton. What makes this photo real, and some others fake?

Then Daniel features a listener email. Former employee of the very haunted Judge Restaurant in Downtown Hamilton. The old house… once a home. Now a bar and restaurant.
These places tend to be well reported. Due to workers being in there to late hours of the night. As proven by Dave, and his detailed email. Featuring personal experiences, along with the stories of other workers while being employed there.

Then it’s all about a unique and interesting paranormal tool, The Ghost Meter Pro. With a ‘communication mode’, so strange… and so effective! Ghost Cat of the Custom House and Ghosts Terrifying Children
Hamilton’s Custom House is one of the most haunted buildings. It’s easy to talk about the Dark Lady or the Caretaker, but what about the Black Cat?
Then, kids say the most impressive ghost stories. An experience told to Daniel on a private tour. Reminding him of a personal story from a relative. Someone who’d never lie, talking about the vivid conversations with his (passed) grandmother. Then the main experience. Visitations showing her uncle is still around.

Boss’s Ghost in a Small Town & Mansfield’s Most Evil Murderer
Daniel loves it when personal experiences are submitted! This time, going to a small town, in a small business. The original owner and boss, reaching out from beyond the grave. To exert his will over a “loud” employee.
Then it’s back to one of the most haunted places on the planet. Mansfield Reformatory, the site of much violence and tragedy. But can the violence which originated from the prison affect the energy of the place? Heck yes!
Dark history around the murderer Robert Daniels, and his moronic cohort West. “Drinking, robbing and hitting on girls”. A quick rise and fall of the Mad-Dog Killers, and their connection to Mansfield.

Bonus : Daniel's Interview on Off the Pages CFMU Radio
With Andrew, host of Off the Pages of the Silhouette on McMaster's CFMU Radio. Interview with Ghost Guide Daniel directly from the show. Very creepy experiences. Stories of the famous ghost hunters, Ed and Lorraine Warren. Hunting tools, well known haunts around Southern Ontario and more!
About the Silhouette...
Founded in 1930, the Silhouette is McMaster University’s official student-led newspaper. It operates as a service of the McMaster Students Union. Located in Hamilton, Ont., the Silhouette publishes weekly from September to April with a circulation of 3,000. Production takes a break in December and is reduced during the summer months.
Host: Andrew Mrozowski - https://www.narcity.com/author/andrewmrozowski/

Nursing Home Ghost Story & The Caretakers of Toronto’s Mackenzie House
Daniel starts with a ghost story, strongly based on a real experience. The stories of staff in hospitals and nursing homes are legend. Never talked about for sensitivity reasons, but strong spirits all the same. So, it’s amazing to have a detailed story from inside a retirement residence.
A nurse, alone during the night shift. Forced to investigate a loud noise from down the hallway. And an encounter steeped in realism that’s hard to disprove.
Then it’s back to the “most haunted” house in all of the City of Toronto. The Mackenzie House’s stories are stuff of legend. Stemming from the rebellious former mayor who once called this place “prison”. And later from a caretaker couple who fled the house after 4 years of vivid ghostly experiences.
Daniel talks passionately about the stories. How the attempt to disprove them, unfairly lumped Mr. and Mrs. Edmunds (caretakers) into the hype around a fake and ridiculous stunt. Using ghosts as a way to drum up business.
But he doesn’t believe it! The caretakers stories hold water, and should be considered separate from the actions of a desperate museum curator.

Real Story of Poltergeist & the White Dress Lady of Hamilton’s Scottish Rite
The user question which led Daniel to the true ghost story behind the 80's classic horror movie, Poltergeist. Under its other name, restlessness, he talks a bit about the believability of the movie. Then going through the true experience from the 1950's in Long Island, New York. Recognize Long Island? Same region as a small town called, Amityville!
Even though the movie does take deep liberties with the real story, there are similarities. Especially when catching the attention of a Doctor of Parapsychology. Yes, there was a Parapsychology department of Duke University in the 1950's.
Then, it's vintage Ghost Walks story time. Daniel reminisces about the tours inside Hamilton, Ontario's Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Inside the house and on the grand staircase. The lesser known (yet completely beautiful) portrait of a woman in the white dress. Maybe related to the female spirit which haunts the house.
Hear how a female investigator made the spirit angry. And the spirit's revenge!

Mills Ghost Story & Mansfield Reformatory
The return of Edgar Mills, storyteller extraordinaire... described as part Hitchcock and all dark. With a personal ghost story from a woman. As a family friend passes away, a message passed through her daughter in the most terrifying of ways.
Then Daniel dives into ghost stories of Mansfield Reformatory. Considered one of the most haunted locations in the world, definitely in the United States. Stories from visitors, as featured in the article (found here - https://ghostwalks.com/articles/mansfield-collection-ghost-stories). Including the real experience of being pushed on stairs. And workers in the confined Solitary wing, plus more!
Finally, imagine walking into the room and finding your dog staring intently at an empty couch. Daniel's doesn't need to imagine... he's living it! His "attached at the hip" dog Edgar (no relation to Mills) has been seen paying close attention to something on the couch. Animal sensitivity to spirits might explain it... or the dog's just nuts (Daniel hopes)!

Possession in St. Catharines & Taking a drive, my family’s horror book connection to Haldimand
You’ve heard the name, now hear the legend. “The Flying Dutchman”, a ghost ship most recently featured in the movie series, Pirates of the Caribbean. The cursed ship, Daniel wonders if it’s a real story or not. Most likely not… the reasons why this is a legend.
Then to the story of a possession, right in front of his eyes. After one of Daniel’s first investigations. Coming out of the very haunted Merritt House (aka White House of Rock) in the city of St. Catharines (near Niagara Falls). The beautiful skepticism of seeing a psychic fight with a real possession attempt by the powerful spirit of the house. You can see the referenced photo here - - https://ghostwalks.com/articles/merritt-house-attempted-possession
And Daniel took a drive. His familial connection to the Haldimand region, and the connection to the small town of Cayuga (location of Ruthven and the Ghost Walks). The connection to his book (https://amzn.to/3IXtw3s) and getting a bit sappy, while digging his grandparents gravestone out of the ice.

Hamilton’s Pigott Building Ghost & Moving things (used) to be Secret
Back to Cambridge Post Office for a quick IG ghost story from bellamom. Friends with a former employee of the Fiddler's Green, a restaurant once in the building, with a bar... on the 3rd floor... Emily's floor.
Then, Daniel talks about the final location of the Hamilton Ghost Walks. The city's first skyscraper, and a most impressive story of its resident ghost. Really! If any ghost were to have such an origin. It's almost perfect. The reason why he haunts the place, and a spooky ghost story about him.
All leading to a talk about the newest, modern form of paranormal evidence. Around the simple security camera, and why this has changed the field forever. With a small related ghost story.

Scandalous Cambridge Legend & the Only Good Stephen King Sequel
If the Ghost Hunts have done anything, they’ve exposed the energy surrounding the beautiful, old Cambridge Post Office. Does deep belief in a ghost manifest the energy? We think so. Emily is the ghost at the old Post Office. Wrapped up in a scandalous affair with the Postmaster. Until her body is found hanging from the rafters on the third (top) floor. Foul play? Maybe. Real legend? Who knows! Daniel talks about experiences in the building.
Then tries something new! Discussing ghostly movies he really enjoyed. Doctor Sleep isn’t clearly a sequel to The Shining, but this becomes clear with the protagonist, Danny Torrance. The adorable “Redrum” kid from the original, now all grown up, and still super psychic. Why he likes it so much.

Staying at a Haunted Hotels featuring a Terrifying Experience
Daniel talks about the Haunted Accommodations Industry. The excitement of staying in haunted hotels and bed and breakfast houses. First proving his point for a quick Google search, “haunted places to stay”. Gotta start with the Canadian content. The Ottawa Jail topping the list. Only the Stanley Hotel (inspiration for Stephen King’s The Shining) stood out on the American list.
Then talking about why haunted hotels and accommodations are so exciting. It’s all about getting that story. When friends ask, “How was your trip?” It’s not just the Jerk Chicken restaurant, but, “I stayed in the room that Stephen King wrote The Shining!” Braved the ghosts. And forever, when that place is mentioned anywhere, you’ll have these memories. Of course The Cecil Hotel in LA comes up.
All leading up to Daniel’s own experience in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. A historic B&B. A very creepy experience (his fault) where the ghosts of the house made themselves known in the craziest way (again, Daniel’s fault).
