Licensed Tour Guide Talks About Finding Resilience After 911 and Covid, Interview with Christina Stanton
Christina Ray Stanton is a Florida native who has lived in New York City for almost 30 years. Christina is a licensed NYC tour guide who has led thousands of people on tours since 1995. In 2017, she founded a nonprofit called Loving All Nations, which helps the world’s poor and vulnerable. She is a sought-after speaker on the subject of 9/11.

My book addresses our experience of living six blocks from the World Trade Center during the September 11, 2001 attacks. We had to evacuate our home after the second plane flew over our heads while we stood on our 24th-floor terrace. When the buildings came down, we were covered with dust and debris and spent hours outrunning smoke that threatened to asphyxiate us in Battery Park. We were carried off the island of Manhattan by boat in the largest boat evacuation in history and were homeless for almost two weeks before we could get back into our apartment. We struggled with PTSD, unemployment, and health issues in the aftermath. My book about Covid-19 is related to 9/11, in the sense that the toxins from the 9/11 dust compromised my health and likely led to a near-fatal case of the virus. I was hospitalized twice and told I had a 50% chance of survival.
I’ve been given a gift that no one would want — the chance to speak from inside two of the most shattering events to hit our country in the past century. But both calamities taught me that we have an enormous capacity to speak into each other’s lives, and both large and small acts of kindness can alter someone’s future. I want to inspire others by telling stories that include examples of how we can lift each other up. I also founded a non-profit called Loving All Nations after surviving 9/11, which addresses need after man-made and natural disasters around the world.

Sexual Abuse Survivor & Blogger, Patty Cabot, Discusses Her Journey to Resilience
Beginning in her teens, Patty battled drastic weight fluctuations of 50 to 75 pounds every two years. Desperate to break the cycle, in her late 30s she started working with a therapist specializing in eating disorders. Her therapist’s specialty is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a psychotherapy technique that helps people suffering from trauma. Patty was sexually abused by her stepfather and to a lesser extent, her cousin. Despite Patty’s great shame and reluctance to delve into the pain of her past, it became clear that her weight was merely a symptom of the abuse. Over 12 years she worked with a therapist and EMDR, a chiropractor to release trapped “fight or flight” responses, a sex therapist, and attended group therapy for sexual abuse. Sexual abuse is an especially insidious thing because it leaves its imprint on every part of you. Patty accomplished what she desperately hoped was possible but feared was not. Her hope is that others struggling with these issues will be able to see themselves in her and know that all is not lost. Learn more at www.pattycabot.com.

Tapping for Resilience with Dr Katie Nall
During childhood, our guest moved with her mother and two siblings attending 12 different schools in five different states. After leaving home in high school, she lived on the streets sleeping under the bushes until friends figured out her lifestyle. With education as her goal, she finally asked her high school guidance counselor to find her a home to complete high school education. For her senior year, she lived in a foster home. The day after graduation, she flew to San Diego to attend college where she found herself 20 miles away from the nearest college with no car. Undeterred, she hitchhiked back and forth to classes.
Not only does our next guest now have her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education, she also is a TEDx speaker, a professional member of National Speakers Association, and an Accredited Master Trainer and Certified Practitioner in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) with additional training in trauma, quantum, and picture EFT. Whether in person or online, Dr. Nall shows others how to dissolve their WAFFLES – worry, anxiety, fear, frustration, lethargy, exhaustion, and stress. A careless housekeeper and worse cook with no desire for rehabilitation she somehow is still married to the same person for over 48 years.

Resilience and Inclusion in the Workplace with Julien Lefort, Succes Coach, Trainer and Mentor
For the last 15 years, Julien has worked with both non-profit (AIESEC, Chance UK, Coaching For Everyone) and private sector (Société Générale, Adecco, Thomsons Online Benefits - Mercer group). Originally working in a corporate environment managing Learning and Development functions globally, his job was supporting people in their development as leaders and as individuals, creating programs that would make them shine as employees and make them grow and develop.
After missing an important event in his daughter’s life, and a feeling of being stuck in his work, Julien decided to make the shift to entrepreneurship. As a Success Coach, a Trainer, and Mentor of coaches, he works with a range of truly amazing individuals from coaches to creative entrepreneurs.
Most recently, he has been diving into the correlation between Resilience (specifically in his work as a coach) and Diversity & Inclusion. Even though diversity was always around (he was raised in a french-senegalese family, one of his aunts is from the LGBTQ+ community, he has members of his family who suffered from mental health issues, and now he is married to someone from a different nationality), he still asks himself many questions on the impact he can have, but also whether he is moving in the right direction when it comes to becoming a more inclusive individual. That's when he created a program called Inclusion Coaching for Resilience to support leaders, HR specialists, DEI advocates and ambassadors, teams, etc. to develop their own skills and bridge the gap between awareness and action. This 5-step program aims to accelerate a leader's ability to be resilient through coaching and practicing inclusivity in the workplace.

Embracing Change with Shaneequa Cannon
In order to be the person she felt she needed as a teen, stumbling through life following a suicide attempt, sexual assault (rape), and unwed teenage motherhood, Shaneequa Cannon became a public high school Language Arts teacher. During those 13 years as an educator, Shaneequa’s mission was to be the change she wanted to see and the beacon of possibilities in the lives of others. But, after narrowly surviving a bout with pulmonary embolisms in her lungs, Shaneequa had to confront her mortality and habits of mediocrity. This brush with death gave her a fresh pair of eyes and a fervent desire to see the women around her rise out of their own mediocrity, winning through telling their stories on stage and on the page. This led her to start a business as the Master Brand Story Coach, drawing on her love of teaching and her fascination with storytelling, helping women entrepreneurs embrace the power of their story so they could move forward with permission and purpose. This is a new multi-faceted mission that Shaneequa takes to the stage, page, and screen as a speaker, author, and screenwriter. She's a graduate of the University of Miami and Full Sail University. Got Business Goals?
In the past few months, I have had many people reach out to me asking for advice, suggestions, and ideas on business matters. Although I have been a businesswoman for a few years, I don't often talk about business strategies. Well, you've asked and I've listened and here I deliver.
What are your business goals? How will you achieve them? Are you treading water or actually getting some traction? The way I see it, business is more than just a means to make an income. More me, it's the impact that's more important. I want the products and services I offer to make a difference in people's lives. I want to leave a legacy that will outlive me but I work at it wisely by outsourcing and automating whatever I can.
What about you? What's helping you grow your business? Where are you struggling in business?
If you want to thrive in all areas of your life, join us for THRIVE 2020 today!

Did You Ditch Your New Year's Resolutions?
In case you weren't aware, January 17th is Ditch Your Resolutions Day. Did you ditch your resolutions on January 17th? I hope not! At least, not all of them. In this segment, I talk about what helps me achieve my goals, what might be getting in the way of you achieving yours, and how Thrive 2020 can help you. Show Your Gratitude With Words
We’ve talked about the process of writing in a gratitude journal and the kinds of benefits that activity can offer. Writing is a powerful process. Sharing your written words of appreciation with others can have an even bigger impact than journaling privately. Personal notes can really brighten a person’s day, and make many positive impacts in the lives of those receiving them and those giving them.

Find Something Random In Your Environment To Be Grateful For
If you’re still on the fence about starting a practice of gratitude for yourself, I’d like to issue you a simple challenge. Just for today, find just one random thing in your environment to be grateful for. This is a low-stakes activity that can be a great way to jumpstart your pursuit of gratitude.

Use Gratitude Meditations & Affirmations To Boost Your Spirit Anytime
You’ve probably heard of both meditations and affirmations, though you may be uncertain of just what they are and how they work. These two practices are actually quite simple to add to your routine or even to use in a particularly stressful moment to gain perspective. Let’s take a look at how to use gratitude meditations and affirmations to boost your spirit anytime.

Enforce The Gratitude Habit With A Small Journal
Once you get into the habit of contemplating what you’re grateful for each day, it’s time to consider making it a written activity. This can be intimidating for people who don’t like to write or who feel they may not have time to dedicate to such a practice. In all honesty, it really doesn’t take much more time to write it down than to simply think about what you appreciate, and you don’t need strong writing skills in order to jot down three sentences. Let’s see if we can’t make the process seem less stressful.

Start & End Your Day By Counting Your Blessings
One really easy way to get started on a gratitude practice is to make a habit of counting your blessings both morning and night. You don’t even have to write them down, as in a gratitude journal, if that seems too overwhelming. Simply taking a few minutes when you wake up and before you go to bed is enough to begin cementing this new practice into your routine. Before long, you’ll be easily noticing that blessing abound. Here are some tips to help you begin.

What A Difference A Bit Of Gratitude Makes
Gratitude can be simply broken down to appreciating the good things in your life. It doesn’t always seem simple, though. When things are hectic or stressful, finding the silver lining can be challenging. However, learning how to embrace gratitude can significantly boost your happiness. Being grateful offers a host of other benefits you’re probably not aware of, too. Let’s take a closer look at the concept, ways it can improve your life and how to practice it.

"I am Rachel Leigh from Tennessee. I value living in the Bible Belt and Southern Hospitality as much as I value multiculturalism and being one small part of a huge diverse body of believers, all united in Christ.
I have a Masters level college education in Business and still consider my Fathers business of spreading the gospel of Christ my most important assignment. What lights me up is seeing the moment the Holy Spirit is invited in and first recognized by a new believer or the awe-inspiring world-shaking moments when a believer is given a new revelation of Gods glory. I love these “light bulb moments” and love to share my own. I just love that God chose such a humble creation as us to grow His Kingdom and to be His Kingdom.
