This game was originally broadcasted on Tuesday, April 27th at 4:00 PM. Sentinel won 18-1 with 6 total innings.

This was the originally broadcast that was on Friday, April 23rd 2021. A game that was originally scheduled for Thursday, April 22nd, but it was rescheduled due to weather.

Hellgate starts strong with good defense, not making easy for the Helena Bruins to score. It was not until about a minute and a half left in the first quarter until we see Helena put the first two points on the board for their team. It continues in the second half as we see Helena Capitol only adding 3 more points to the score before the half. This is coming from the two sisters who average over 10 points a game, a piece for Helena. Third quarter is nothing but a battle as both teams manage to make 10 points each in the third quarter. The fourth quarter they fought hard, but Helena cut down the difference in score with each possession. A double technical on Hellgate gave Helena the lead for the first time. They manage to maintain the lead within 2 points and keep it for the win.

It’s a battle in the beginning as Sentinel takes the lead, but Helena close the gap based on points gained on turnovers. Not to mention a technical that caught the attention of everyone called on Tony Frohlich-Fair, giving Helena more chances to take control of this game. Sentinel does manage to take the lead at the end of the first half (35-31). Helena puts up a good fight in the second half with a series of back-door runs. Then Sentinel answers back by kicking up the energy on their defense, making it next to impossible to get into the paint. Helena still waits for their right moment to strike and still manages to find the open lane a good amount of the time. Sentinel will find the solution, keep the lead and take home 3rd place in the tournament.

Between Bailee Sayler with the nice little jump shot that helped get her the 8 points she has so far, to the posting up in the paint with Alex Covil, that helped give her the 8 points she has, this team is working hard. The real reason we see Hellgate end halftime ahead of Bozeman (27 to 17) is because when it comes to points on turnovers, we see Hellgate with 15 points to Bozeman’s 0. Hellgate also managed to get 7 2nd chance points, to Bozeman’s 0. In the second half we see Hellgate take an even bigger lead, so much so that at the end of the third quarter Hellgate just dribbled the last minute away, trying to pull out the defense and they do nothing. Hellgate will take home the victory, sending Bozeman home as Hellgate will advance to the championship game again Saturday, March 13th at 7:30 PM against Helena Capital.

We see more of the Sentinel Spartan’s that we’ve known and followed all season long, as they lead the first quarter 25 to 12 and all key players seem to be doing quite well. Alex Germer ends the first half with 4 out of 6 made from the floor, 2 for 3 on 3-pointers and 100% from the free throw line. So far, Germer will have 18 of the total 42 points that is Sentinel’s score at half as Bozeman has 27. Second half is more of what we have seen in the first half, but now Bozeman is doing much better at matching Sentinel (just like we saw in the 2nd quarter of the game).

In the third quarter, we see Sentinel had 22 points and Bozeman had 21, but it was the last quarter where Sentinel beat them 20 points to Bozeman’s 11. At the end Alex Germer ends with 10 of 14 made from the floor, 100% on free throws and 34 points for the night. Behind him, it’s Tony Frohlich-Fair 6 of 10 shots made from the floor, 8 for 12 on free throws and 20 points for the night. Bozeman will go home and Sentinel will take on Helena in the consolation game on Saturday, March 13th at 1:00 PM.

It is a battle all throughout the game for both of these teams. What seems to keep the Sentinel Spartans in the game is their use of the full court press. It causes an upset with Great Falls, but Sentinel has a hard time converting it to points on the board. Brooke Stayner (a key player for Sentinel) ends up fouling out of the game with about 4 minutes left in the game. Sentinel tries to fuel the fire of their full court press by changing out their players quickly, so that they can rest, but Great Falls will not give up the lead. It’s with the remaining 2 minutes we see up to 4 timeouts.

Great Falls is able to capitalize with their timeouts, causing a little bit of confusion with Sentinel, ending with more points on the board. The Sentinel Spartans end this game (and the tournament) losing to Great Falls 44 – 36. Great Falls will go on to play the winner of today’s game between Helena Capital and Billings West at 5:30 PM. That game for Great Falls will be Saturday, March 13th at 9:00 AM. Sentinel ends this game with 14 out of 65 for Total FG, 0 for 14 with 3-pointers and 8 for 15 on free throws.

This was an unusual night for the Sentinel Spartans, but a great attempt. We had the best defense in the league (Billings), who has won the state tournament 4 our of the last 6 years…going up against the best scoring offense in the league, who enters the tournament at 15-1. It just seems like shots were not landing for the Spartans. It’s not that they were all bad shots, it’s just the moments… where instead of it rolling in miraculously…they were rolling out. You see the frustration growing with the Spartans as they tried so hard to find their groove. Billings Sky View was lead by #22 Payton Sanders who was 11/16 on the floor, made 5 of 6 free throws and earned 27 points for the night on a combination of power lay ups, to pull up jumpers. Billings moves on to the championship game against Great Falls on Saturday at 5:00 PM. Sentinel will play on Friday, March 12th at 3:30 PM against Bozeman.

Hellgate gains possession of this game early with their aggressive full court pressure, causing an upset that turns to an early lead for them as they win the first quarter 16- 2. Once they gain the desired lead they’re looking for in the second quarter, Hellgate will fall back to a 2-3 zone and give the Great Falls Bison little (to no) opportunity below in the paint for easy points. Hellgate manages to hang on to the lead, growing with every possession taking home the win. As it stands now, they will play Bozeman on Friday, March 12th at 7:30 PM.

Right out of the gate you can tell by the free throws why the Sentinel Spartans are leading in this first half, even though the Bozeman Hawks are shooting 100%. The part that hurts the Hawks is that they only got 6 attempts at the free throws. Sentinel even though their shooting 75%, they have had 16 attempts to do so. This being the fact because The Hawks got into foul trouble with plenty of time for Sentinel to capitalize on it.

In the second half we have Sentinel being shutdown from going to the free throw line, as Bozeman doesn’t not foul at all in the third quarter. We see that Bozeman’s 3-2 zone keeps Sentinel from doing anything down below. This game ends up going into over time as they end at 33-33. Bozeman managed to take the lead and keep it in overtime.

The Sentinel Spartans took a little bit to find their grove in the first half of tonight's game. We see that Junior Bergen for Billings was moving quickly up the court, making some very impressive layups. Doing his best to fight with all he had, with every foul and possession to keep his team in the game.

Even thought Billings won the first half, it was Sentinel that came full force in the second half to win the game. Sentinel walks away the highest percentage of free throws (with Alex Germer going 100% with everyone of his). The also lead the game in rebounds on offense, defense and beat Billings with second chance points.

We see right out of the gate that it takes Sentinel a little bit to find their grove, but they’re not alone as we see both teams creating a good amount of turn overs. Helena is doing a good job of moving the ball and getting the pass down below, to the post (Sam Norum) who seems to be given Alex Germer (Sentinel) a run for his money when it comes to height.

In the second half, it was Sentinel and their ruthless in-your-face style defense that cause the necessary turnovers from Helena to give them the lead. Then towards the end, we see Helena trying to close the gap with unpredictable three-point shots and fouling Sentinel hoping they’d miss their free throws. Sentinel may not have made them all, but they made the majority that would leave them with the lead that turned into the victory at the end of the night.

In the first half we see that the Kalispell Glacier Wolfpack (underdog) came to play as they took the lead by two points (24 – 22). This is done by taking advantage of Hellgate struggling with some of the basics. The Wolfpack is seeing the flooring, they’re feeding the ball down low and the post is taking the necessary time to make the correct move that leads to points.

In the second half, we see extreme physically play for both teams. Not to mention, the energy of being so close all throughout the game (bring it to a tie many times throughout the night). It’s the game winning lay up we see from Hellgate with 20 seconds left that sealed the deal . Hellgate attempts to draw the foul with a lay in, missing the shot. Kalispell kicks it up the court at the speed of sound to the open man (Keifer Sophnhauer) who makes the winning lay up.

Tonight we see both Big Sky and Hellgate using that full court press. Josh Wade and Becket Arthur are both doing a great job of finding the gap in Big Sky’s defense, with Arthur being there for the re-bounds, blocks and open shots. Then as Big Sky does an outstanding job covering the floor with their 2-3 zone, we see them quick on the rebound, using the 6ft 6in advantage of Caden Bateman.

In the second half we see the intensity kicked up a notch on defense for the Knights. This causes moments of turnovers from Big Sky. Hellgate successfully manages to create a lead as we got to free throws before the beginning of the fourth quarter. Continuing their efforts on offense and making the free throws continues to increase the lead that Hellgate has, as they take home the victory.

We’ve got Big Sky high school’s girls varsity taking on Sentinel’s girls varsity. So far, we see both teams are running a man defense. Sentinel is going with the ever popular full court press (that they’ve been known for). We see that both offenses are being aggress and good at finding the open person, but Sentinel is going for the offensive rebound more.

In the second quarter we see a lot of the same from the first, but the most interesting change is how Sentinel adapts and changes their defense on the fly. One second they’ll be zone and two seconds later, they’ll be man. Big Sky brings on the full court press and Sentinel will pull back to just man defense, since they had the lead.
