Episode 101 - Highs & Lows with Zak Sally
Many people are saying that with the 100th episode in the can, it's all downhill from here. But worry not listener, for the boys are still doing this show for some reason. And what better way to kick off the next chapter in the Gutter Gang lore than with this week's guest, Minneapolis-based cartoonist, publisher, educator, and musician Zak Sally. We talk about his new book, Sammy the Mouse Book 3 (Killgore Books/La Mano 21), having returned from a nearly decade-long hiatus. We also discuss his return, why he needed to take a step back from small press comics, his time as an educator, and his overall thoughts on what comics means to him after nearly 30+ years in the game.
You can check out La Mano 21's webshop where you can purchase their fine publications and follow Zak on Instagram @zak_sally.

Episode 100 - Cent'Anni with Pat Rooks
It's all come down to this. The 100th episode of Gutter Boys. It's going to be emotional. This one is packed to the gills with what the kids are calling content. To help us celebrate, we're joined with special returning guest Pat Rooks to reflect on the last four years of this thing of ours, his tabling experiences so far in 2023, and how his work has progressed since the last time he was in the hot seat. We also have a ton of voicemails left by friends, fans, and past guests to usher in our landmark episode. Be sure to listen carefully as you may recognize a voice or three. Or ten. What about twenty? How about thirty? You get the idea.

Episode 99 - Crying on the Internet Kevin Budnik
Wow! Gutter Gang, we're almost at the coveted 100th episode. Time sure does seem to fly when you're miserable. But before we pop open the champagne, we should first talk about this week's guest: Chicago-based cartoonist and illustrator Kevin Budnik. Renowned for his autobio series I Hope This Finds You and It's OK To Be Sad, Kevin is also a solid friend in the scene and it's embarrassing it took this long to have him finally on the show. We dive into how and why he went from posting diary comics every day to transitioning to Patreon to share his work, his time at Columbia College, his upcoming book and how it will be vastly different from his prior output, and how much the small press world has changed since ye old tumblr days.

Episode 93 - Please End It All
Can't believe it's been four years of Gutter Boys. Nothing flashy for this episode: no guests, no wacky reveals - none of that. We figured it only made sense to go classico mode and trade some general comics chitter chatter and how we're all looking forward to 20 more years of live-action superhero content that's definitely not made for developmentally stunted babies. Now go out there and crack some heads and create some earners out there.

Episode 76 - The Dark Knight's Dong Rises with Ryan Alves
When the 2021 Guysner Award winner Nate McDonough asked us to have Providence-based cartoonist and illustrator Ryan Alves on an episode, we knew this was a big favor. Would we set a dangerous precedent by allowing someone to dictate who comes on? Would Ryan Alves meet the high watermark set by past guests? The answer to both questions is yes. If you're a Guysner winner, you get more leeway. And besides, Ryan is great and he would've been on the show anyway. To Nate's credit, he did expedite the process. Again, Guysner. After a few scheduling conflicts, we finally sat down with Ryan to talk about his rapidly growing body of work including Bubblegum Maelstrom and Moustache, why he got into comics, his experience at the Winter Hocking Hills Cartoonist Retreat, and who has the biggest hog in Batman's rogues gallery (it's Bane).
Check out his work at on his website and follow him on Instagram @alvestagram and Twitter @AWE_comics.

Episode 73 - Try Finger, But Hole with Jasper Jubenvill
Even though we said we wouldn't have repeat guests on the main feed, it's only fair to have 2021's Pimp of the Year Jasper Jubenvill come on for a second time to really hash it out for the listeners. We go in-depth about process, his influences, his current love affair with Elden Ring, and why Cam loves WWE2K22 so much.
EDITOR'S NOTE: We erroneously referred to Nate McDonough as a Pimp of the Year when in fact he was only the recipient of the Dudes Rock Award. JB will receive 20 lashings from Nate for his transgression and we hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive us.
Follow Jasper on Instagram @jasper.jubenvill. He does not have a website yet, so be sure to judge him harshly for that.

His self-published body of work includes three issues of his one-person anthology Hornrim and his newest book Alanzo Sneek, available now directly from his webstore. Nate is a great dude and someone we've been meaning to have on the show for a while now, so it's nice to finally have him on instead of just reading his DM's asking us what we had for breakfast again.

Pete Faecke joins us once again to break down what to expect from the Autoptic 2021 Digital Festival, and we're starting things on a high note with special guest Jaime Hernandez to talk about his new art book, Queen of the Ring - Wrestling Drawings by Jaime Hernandez. So don't be a pencil necked geek and miss out on this banger of an episode. Hit that play button, or we're dropping you through a stack of tables!
