Mum life Moments:
Hannah's update this week is all about the podcast, and did you hear? We got our first negative review!!! Because we're so tech illiterate it took us about 6 weeks to even read it, but hold up, does this mean we're famous??
Emma's getting a hit of karma this week after ranting about other parents with kids that misbehave, when Blake started throwing wrestling moves on a girl at swimming. Despite a swift move from Em and an apology, the other Mum wasn't too impressed! Eeeeekkkk!

MOTHERHOOD CONFESSIONS: I was on mental health watch for postpartum OCD with compulsions centering around sexual abuse
MOTHERHOOD CONFESSIONS: I was on mental health watch for postpartum OCD with compulsions centering around sexual abuse
**Trigger Warning** In this episode we discuss topics including sexual abuse, eating disorders and miscarriage
In our second episode of Motherhood Confessions we're anonymously interviewing a beautiful Mother and listener who has shared her personal and honest experience of parenting with us.
This week's Mum tells us she experienced a challenging pregnancy which included being diagnosed with HG. After the birth of her daughter she was diagnosed with postpartum Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, with compulsions centering around sexual abuse.
The HG diagnosis was so severe that she was required to go to hospital each morning for a scan to check that bub was ok due to lack of nutrients being delivered to the baby. After what was a slightly traumatic birth this Mum took her baby daughter home and started having intrusive thoughts around sexual abuse that quickly became obsessive.
She was eventually able to seek help and was put on mental health watch for postpartum OCD. Four years on she is now a career woman, an amazing Mother to her daughter, and has paid some of her friends to remind her to never fall pregnant again!
If you have a story you'd like to tell anonymously, we'd love to hear from you. Send us a message on instagram @babybrain.podcast or via email babybrainpodcast@gmail.com we will keep all of your details completely anonymous and confidential.

92. Mums Gone Wild!! With Baby Brain Bestie Laura Barron
92. Mums Gone Wild!! With Baby Brain Bestie Laura Barron
What happens when you shove three drunk Mum's into a wardrobe on new years???
THIS! This is what happens. This week we're chatting to Emma's bestie (who is now Baby Brain Bestie) Laura Barron about all things Mum life and her experience of parenting. We don't need to tell you this episode is a huge lol, just listen to the first few minutes when we stitch up Laura by making her do vocal exercises before we start the interview 🤣🤣
We have some drinks, we bitch about our husbands, we bitch about our kids, we set some very loose new years resolutions and talk about the many ups and downs of parenting, all while swigging on our hair-of-the-dog aperols from Emma's wardrobe.
Despite the fact (or maybe because of the fact) we're very drunk, this is such a fun and relatable episode. One not to miss!!
Mum life moments:
Hannah has a wild night out for Miles's birthday AND gets hit on at the bar!! Once he found out she's married with kids he swiftly apologised and ran the other way. Even though she almost lost her hearing from the loud music and came home to babies awake at 3am, it was worth the hangover.
Emma has nothing to say this week because she's in a season, a season of no sleep and bed sharing and mum life and work life and podcast life and cleaning life and cooking life and trying to self care life and am I a good parent life and I just want to go to bed life. We've all been there, am I right?

91. Butt Stuff! Common perianal conditions in pregnancy and postpartum with Dr Jason Kong
91. Butt Stuff! Common perianal conditions in pregnancy and postpartum with Dr Jason Kong
This week we're chatting all things butt stuff! Let's be honest, our little old behinds go through a bit during pregnancy and postpartum, but it's not often spoken about.
In this episode we interview Dr Jason Kong from Downthere Healthcare to discuss common perianal conditions including haemorrhoids, anal fissures, prolapse, anal itching, anal sex and so much more!
Jason shares his own personal experiences with us and gives us some great tips on dealing with these common issues. There seems to be a lot of shame associated with these medical conditions, so we want to open up the chat to bring light to some very normal occurrences and normalise a bit of butt stuff!
If you want to check out Downthere Healthcare, or purchase your itchy butt cream, head to www.downthere.healthcare or follow them on instagram @downtherehealth
In our intro this week we also chat about an amazing podcast for all the Dad's- The Shit Dad Podcast! Nick, Cam and Dave are sharing fatherhood experiences of average Aussie Dads, uncovering Dad Hacks, and interviewing fathers and experts from across the country.
Tell those special men in your life to search The Shit Dad Podcast on Apple Podcasts or on Spotify, and follow them on Instagram at @shitdadpod.

Mum Life Moments:
Emma needs to work on her potty mouth because Blake has started to drop the F bomb and call Matt an ass hole (is she wrong though? I mean he doesn't even listen to the podcast). Is it time for a baby swear jar?
Hazel's finally outgrown her demon crawl and started walking! Hannah's sad about the baby years flying by but doesn't have too much time to think about it now that she has to chase after two little running maniacs.

MOTHERHOOD CONFESSIONS: I hate being a Mum and wish I could turn back time
MOTHERHOOD CONFESSIONS: I hate being a Mum and wish I could turn back time
In our first episode of Motherhood Confessions we're anonymously interviewing a beautiful Mother and listener who has shared her personal and honest experience of parenting with us.
This week's Mum tells us she's experienced the death of identity during her ongoing period of matresence. She's been navigating these feelings only to discover she doesn't have postnatal depression, she just genuinely hates being a mother and wishes she could go back in time and choose differently knowing what she does now.
She is also a single mother after being convinced by her ex Husband to have kids, only for him to provide no help once her daughter arrived. During the marriage he showed narcissistic behaviours so she took the step two years ago to end the toxic relationship.
She does love her daughter, but feels that not everyone was built to be a mother. She's felt so alone going through this and wants to share her story so other women out there who may feel the same way know that they are not alone.
If you have a story you'd like to tell anonymously, we'd love to hear from you. Send us a message on instagram @babybrain.podcast or via email babybrainpodcast@gmail.com we will keep all of your details completely anonymous and confidential.

Emma's had a few violent encounters at the park with Blake. We're wondering when it's appropriate to intervene with kids?? How much spitting, kicking and hitting do you need to put up with before you tell them to piss off?? (Whoops, did I just say that out loud? Lol.)
Hannah's had her first day with Eli in daycare and to say it was an emotional time would be an understatement. All the feelings and all the mum guilt, who is this transition harder on, the kids or the mums? Tune into this week's ep for all the details!

Outside of the hilarious content about what our most recent arguments were (which sparked new arguments while recording), what annoys us most about each other, sex lives and all the rest, Miles and Matt also share some personal and honest reflections on how Fatherhood has been for them.
This is a great chat for Mum's and Dad's alike, and we hope you all enjoy this one! It feels good to be back!!

Join us this week for our last episode of 2022!! Omg!! Where did the year go? We're sharing some of our funniest babybrain memories from the year and doing a recap on the year that was.
Hannah has some very hilarious and very embarrassing stories from the Podcast Awards. Not sure if everyone is aware that we won a podcast award this year? Our million instagram stories and posts may have given it away 🤣
We explore the hot topic of swingers and realise just how vanilla we are. But can anyone tell us where we can sell photos of our feet? Or dirty undies? Looking for a quick buck without having to do any work for it, please and thank you.
We also chat about whether ghosts and the afterlife is real, and what about Santa? Are we telling the kids he's real or is that going to damage them psychologically for life? Enter new #mumguilt for things you hadn't even thought about.
We get a little fun surprise from Hannah's resident ghost at the end of the episode telling us that it was time wrap it up. And speaking of wrapping it up, a HUGE thank you to each and every one of you who tunes in and listens to us ramble and rant every week! 85. The Role of A Child & Family Health Nurse with Jess Rasho
Do you remember seeing a Child and Family Health Nurse after your bub was born? You might have known them as a Community Nurse, who set you up in your Mother's groups and did checks on bubs development.
This is a service we are so incredibly lucky to have access to in Australia, and this week we are joined by Jess Rasho, a Child and Family Health Nurse and Mother of two! Jess tells us all about the role of a CFHN and how they are able to support families in a huge range of ways, ones that we didn't even know about!
This is a must listen for anyone currently pregnant or with young children, it's packed full of information about local support services that could save you money and time if you ever need them.
Here are some additional support services you might not have known a CFHN can provide:
- Setting you up with discreet support in domestic violence situations
- Organising migrant resources for families who speak little or no English
- Linking up with services to provide goods for baby if you are under financial hardship
- Some child and family health centres have qualified IBCLC's who can give you breastfeeding support and advice for free
Jess also shared with us her birth stories, including her vaginal delivery of her 4.8kg son!! Who doesn't love a good birth story?? And wow! This one deserves a gold medal.
Jess has a beautiful business @prettylittleblock.co offering hand cut and hand painted custom wooden block names. The business is currently on hold, but go and give her a follow and stay tuned for when she is back open!

Maika shares her own personal journey with us after having her son which included applying for jobs, landing a high paid job that didn't have the flexibility she was after, then restructuring her life and working arrangements to be able to follow her passion and spend more time with her family.
There are so many things to consider when thinking about going back to work, like who will look after the kids, does the pay cover childcare, does your role still fulfil you, and is it even worth it? We chat about all of these questions and share our own personal experiences in this week's episode.
Maika has created a beautiful coffee brand that caters perfectly to Mum's in all seasons offering low and no caffeine options. To find out more about Maika and her business, head to www.mummasbeans.com.au or follow her on instagram @mummas_beans

82. Moving Through Birth Trauma with Birth Mentor & Trauma Specialist Amy Wilson
In this week's beautiful episode we are joined by the amazing Amy, a Birth Mentor and Trauma Specialist to discuss moving through birth trauma. Amy tells us a bit about what birth trauma could be and how that might impact your parenting journey and your state of mind.
We discuss some ways to move through birth trauma, to accept the experience and take lessons from it. We also discuss how to get in touch with your sense of self and your inner strength and how others might be able to hold space for women who have experienced birth trauma to assist with their healing.
Statistics tell us that one in three Mothers experience their birth as traumatic (panda.org.au) which is why we feel conversations like these need to happen more often. We all have a role to play in healing ourselves and others after birth trauma, holding space for women to vocalise their experiences and change the perception of birth as being a powerful experience rather than a scary one.

Madi has three children herself, and has been through such an incredible journey before becoming a gentle sleep coach. She takes a responsive, attachment-focused approach with her children and clients.
In this episode we discuss Madi's experience with sleep training her own children, what led her to choose gentle methods with her youngest, and tips on how parents can improve their children's sleep without using cry it out or space soothing.
This episode provides some great insights and options for parents who are keen on improving sleep in a space between "cry it out" and "wait it out". We strongly believe that parents should use the sleep methods they are comfortable with, and whatever works best for their family. This is a wonderful perspective and option if you are looking for something more gentle to try.

Both Emma and Hannah share how they felt in those early days of motherhood, and discuss the different challenges, pressures and expectations put on mothers during such a vulnerable time.
