What Are You Sitting on the Shore Of?
Just as a sports team doesn’t take the field alone, so too can we benefit from worthy coaches, guides, and mentors who know the way, go the way, and show the way. After all, the players on the field are too close to the field to see the bigger picture, which is where the true value of a coach is found—providing a mirror to reflect back what they are not able to see themselves.
This episode shares the story of how I first learned of the value of mentorship and the impact it had on my life and career. Enjoy!

The Sailing Opossum
We will never be held responsible for what we are not capable of handling—or at the very least capable of learning. As such, responsibility doesn’t preclude risk; rather, it calls us to understand our strengths, know what’s negotiable, and then boldly step forward to learn and grow, come what may.

Name It to Tame It
Many people seem to suffer from eisoptrophobia—the fear of seeing one’s own reflection. When this happen, they fail to see what’s right in front of them because they don’t like what’s staring back at them. And so, to avoid the discomfort, they simply avert their eyes from the clutter of their lives. The psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Siegel, however, suggests that to make positive change in our lives, we have to "name it to tame it."
This episode shares the story of how one man tamed the streets of West Sussex and how you can use this same process to perhaps one day have a garbage truck named after you. Enjoy!

Being Well By Living Well
It’s not enough to have accurate information—to initiate and manage positive change we also have to be able to access and use the information. By making positive psychology research accessible—digestible, memorable, and manageable—it brings the research to life, out of the reports, scientific journals, and books and into the lives of people who can actually use and benefit from the material.

All done in love
The time for loving servitude is certainly now, as three poisons continue to threaten humanity: apathy, hatred, and violence.

Check out this article for an actionable idea that can serve as an antidote to these three poisons.
Enjoy!

Growth By Design
How often have we marveled at the beauty of a butterfly while also failing to recognize the changes it had to experience to get there? We will fail to make our own positive changes every time we overvalue what we already have and undervalue what we stand to gain if only we are willing to let go. You can experience your own transformation when you remind yourself that a caterpillar is not meant to die a caterpillar, and neither are you. By engaging in the five reflection questions provided here, you’ll be empowered and encouraged to initiate positive change for lifelong growth by design.

A Tale of Two Kitties
It is our very capacity of compassion for those we love that can also drive us to seek injury for those who threaten the ones we love. When we increase who we include as ‘us’ and decrease who we exclude as ‘them,’ we empower understanding, unity and relationships, all prerequisites to being a true ally with our fellow world travelers.
