Brian interviews Danny Andino, (his wife’s nephew) who is the CEO and co-founder of Arise Recovery Centers, an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment facility with 10 locations in Texas. Danny shares his own personal story, from addiction to sobriety, and ultimately the driving passion for people which led him to founding Arise.

Brian sits down with two team members of the Healing Place Team, Christina and Nichole, who share their personal experience with the challenges of being moms and step-moms in their own blended families.

In this episode Brian sits down with Eric Wooten, the author of Relationshots, and they discuss some of the major issues that can hinder relationship success.

Join the Healing Place team as they discuss their favorite coping strategies to deal with these normal experiences in life, from mindful/meditation to grounding, breathing, cold plunges, being in nature, and embracing silence/solitude.

In this episode, you’ll get to meet Wendy Pratt, as she tells Brian her story. From some of her earliest traumatic memories of being abandoned by her mother; abused by family members, not wanting to live, to immigrating to the US from Mexico, to starting a family, knowing she desperately wanted and needed God, pushing all her chips into the middle, pursuing Jesus hard, and seeing the unequivocal hand of God in her life. This isn’t a “tie it up with a neat, little bow on top” story – rather, a work-in-progress journey of learning to trust in the midst of struggle.

In this episode, Brian sits down with Kim Kox, one of the co-leaders of the “Happier Hour” support group in The Healing Place. Kim tells her story, and her passion behind starting this group for women of all ages who are sober-curious and looking for an alternative to the traditional happy hour. Many women find themselves in the “gray-area” of drinking, or have fallen into the mommy-wine culture, or simply questioning their relationship with alcohol. Kim and Brian discuss how this group has helped Kim, and why she’s so passionate about helping other women.

Beth now believes that mission work is critical for “kingdom” advancement, but while she’s not claiming missionary status, she IS agreeing with God on her new assignment.  Listen as Beth shares her passion to help as many people as she can with her story, and the story of redemption that is available to anyone who will do the work.

Family is God’s way of providing unsolicited accountability.  Sometimes, our biological family can be our biggest strength, or it can be a royal pain in our butts!  In this episode, Beth describes who became her family on her journey to healing.

Direction…the word can be frustrating, and encouraging at the same time.  Instructions and guidance from God are crucial in finding your way when your path has become washed out.  Listen as Beth learned to hear God’s voice in Siri fashion, and how it became her heart’s desire to follow, even when at times it made no sense.

Relationships are essential to healing – especially family and friends.  The hardest place to exist during the divorce was in the community, yet in finding true community is where healing began.

Community - Obviously, during 2020, and even early in 2021, real, in-person community has been hard to come by.  At a basic human level, we all desire to be seen and heard. We need to belong. We desperately need authentic community in our lives, especially in our digital age where, for many,  counterfeit social media connection has become the substitute.
