Dealing with Repetitive Negative Thoughts E134
Got repetitive thoughts? Congrats, you are a human being. We all do, but some have them much more to a negative degree.
What makes negative repetitive thoughts so challenging and hard to control is that they often stem from core self-beliefs, like, I won’t get what I want, the world is not trustworthy, and I’m not good enough.
Repetitive thought loops are powerful and sticky because they are built out of these deep core beliefs.
We often believe our repetitive thoughts, as if their persistence is somehow evidence of their truth when in actuality, we are just telling ourselves a story about these beliefs.
As a result, we are compulsively compelled to attach and engage with these false narratives.
In this episode, I discuss different coping strategies to deal with negative thoughts.

You are most likely genuinely empathetic and compassionate.
This is the most common cause behind being a people-pleaser.
It is wonderful to have a lot of empathy for others. It means you care deeply about everyone around you.

Trying to please everyone all of the time is a disease. Learning to be an authentic you, to say no, and to stand up for yourself is the only cure for people-pleasing.
Start today and stop the never-ending people-pleasing.
Gently and with kindness, tell just one person "no". Start with that little bit of empowerment.
Not everyone will love or even like the real you. But you know what, that’s okay. You can cope; you are way stronger than you think you are.
When you stop seeking the approval of other people, you’ll find that you never really needed it in the first place. All you needed was your own approval.

E110 It Takes Courage To Be Vulnerable
In this episode, I discuss a moment I had with my Heal Your Story Community Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/healyourstorycommunitygroup about my own struggle with being vulnerable over the last 30 days. I was having trouble showing up for the group in the way I wanted because I had some medical issues. I decided to just be vulnerable in the group and tell them what was going on.
I go on to talk about the many benefits of being vulnerable and why it is so hard for us to do because it almost gives us this sense of not being perfect when we show up with the courage to be vulnerable.
If you can be vulnerable, it means that you accept yourself and don’t feel the need to hide yourself from everyone else.

Overwhelm can be caused by a variety of factors, including stress, grief, traumatic events or even a pileup of a lot of little things that creep up on you all at the same time. Overwhelm can cause physical problems like headaches, work-related woes like poor performance, home life stress and emotional changes. So, it must be dealt with.
How we think something should turn out greatly affects our perception of what is actually taking place. Learning to take care of yourself and implementing these strategies is a good first step in reducing your overwhelm.

In this episode, I discuss four of the many types of trauma. Emotional trauma can cause a sense of hopelessness, edginess, anxiety, an inability to sleep or to focus, and may lead to a pattern of self-neglect. Many of us experience symptoms of trauma but have no specific traumatic event to connect these feelings of anxiety or depression, which often causes feelings of confusion or guilt. You may find yourself thinking others are worse off or have been through something more injurious than you. You may even think you don’t have a right to be unhappy. This is simply untrue, trauma is experienced in many forms. There are times when we don’t even know that an event has been traumatic to us.

The narcissist character assassination is designed to annihilate you psychologically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and sometimes, physically. Narcissistic personalities think in severe black and white. To them, you are either all good or all bad. EP 83 "Easier Said Than Done" - A Sign of Self-Betrayal and Resistance to Change
If you want your life to be different, you have to make it happen. Nothing is going to improve your life if you aren't willing to make changes. YOU have to go out and DO!
Let's walk through the phrase "easier said than done" to understand why we instantly respond this way when we feel like something is too hard to do. It's actually a phrase of self-betrayal.
This episode may make some feel a little edgy and that is because you have continually put your life on hold instead of taking any action...getting caught up in the feeling that something is too hard to do.

Ep 75 Stepping Away From Toxic Personalities
If you are in a relationship with someone with a toxic personality, you might find yourself defending everything you say or do. Over time you will begin to question your own perspective as each action on your part causes a negative reaction. Does that sound familiar? So many people enter into relationships with toxic partners. There are many reasons this may happen, but for the most part, it is because there is something unhealed or something that you don't even understand about yourself that drew this type of person to you.

We often believe that we are self-aware when we really ARE NOT. Being self-aware helps a person make more informed decisions, and contributes to one's overall wellbeing. Self-awareness makes it easier to identify situations and people that hit our triggers and enables us to anticipate our own reactions. It allows us to make positive behavioral changes that can lead to greater personal and interpersonal success. Being aware of yourself also helps in identifying what your stressors are, so you can utilize the information to build effective coping mechanisms. Around the world, fears of Covid-19 are spreading faster than the actual virus. Countries are firming up their borders, many businesses are closing, thousands of people are buying with panic, and the majority of us are being asked to self-isolate. It's entirely understandable if you have feelings of fear, anxiety, or insecurity at this time. We are feeling collective grief: grief for what was, what is and what may be.
We are in an unprecedented time. The only thing we can control is ourselves in the present moment. Mindfulness and meditation can help ease those moments of doubt and grief.

Ep 67 Maybe It's Time For A Spiritual Cleanse
All the negative thoughts, experiences, and situations are absorbed into the spirit, much like unhealthy toxins are absorbed into the body. Do you know how good it feels to stand in the hot shower and let the water run over your face after you’ve been crying? It’s a spiritual cleansing. That’s what we are talking about here.
But saying one needs a spiritual cleanse and understanding how to go about achieving the cleanse are two very different things. Before you continue with your cleanse, it is important to note the reasons why you need one.

Words have power. We can either use negative words or positive words. Negative words hold us back. Positive words propel us forward. The language we use with ourselves internally and with the world at large have a major impact on who we become. They can keep us struggling or they can empower us to strive for high achievement and a better life for ourselves and the world. There is power in getting into a routine or habit of positive self-talk.
