Can you lose your salvation? Many people think that Hebrews 10 says you can, but in this message on Hebrews 10:26-39 may say something different. We'll take a look at it and inspire you to find confidence in the grace and faith in Jesus, who is better than the Old Testament sacrifice, religious practice, and the old covenant.

Go to church? But why should I, many ask?

After establishing that Jesus is better than the OT sacrifice for bringing about salvation, the author of Hebrews tells us the benefits of putting our trust in Jesus and how to apply that trust. The final application says, "Go to church!" Listen as I cover Hebrews 10:19-25.

After a long four-month hiatus, we're back with the next installment of our study in the book of Hebrews with a sermon on Hebrews 10:1-18. This brings us to a bit of a climax on how Jesus is Better than the Angels, the first covenant, the priesthood, and the Old Testament sacrifices.

This passage focuses on how Jesus and his sacrifice made it possible for everyone to trust Jesus for salvation and eternal life. Why is Jesus' sacrifice better than the OT sacrifice, and how does that guarantee your salvation while good works don't?

There's debate about how much of the Old Testament Christians need to obey. One part of this comes from temple worship. Why don't we build temples and offer sacrifices? The answer is Melchizedek. Who is he, and why does he matter? And why does this make Jesus better than the OT Priestly system? Many people make promises, and we can trust some but not others. But can we trust God's promises? He's made a lot of them, the most important of which is the promise to save your soul if you trust him for forgiveness and repent of your sins.

We look at the last passage in Hebrews 5-6, which interrupt the flow of the book to discuss the subject of God's reliability as he makes promises of salvation and more. This message comes from Hebrews 6:13-20.

How can you know for sure you truly are saved and will spend eternity in heaven when you die? Hebrews 6:9-12 tells us what to look for. Please share this message with friends and family so they can find confidence or rethink their salvation. 

We begin this week's message with a clip from the movie O Brother Where Art Thou, where one of the 3 main characters get Baptized. Delmar proclaims that he's been redeemed and then says God has nothing on him. But is he right? And like Delmar, is our baptism authentic and our salvation real?

We look at Hebrews 6:4-8 to see if we're truly saved. You can test your faith and see if it measures up to the author of Hebrews' five tests of sincere faith.

Are you stuck at the Kid's Tablet spiritually? What does it take to graduate to the Adult table and enjoy the meat of the Gospel instead of the Milk? That's what we look at in this sermon from Hebrews 6:1-3.

Grade school is important. If a kid could never get beyond grade school no matter how long she was in school, then we'd get worried. That's also true of spiritual growth. Are you ready for meat or stuck on the milk of the faith? We looked at this from Hebrews 5:11-14.

What makes Jesus worthy to go before God on our behalf? We just assume he is, but Hebrews 5:1-10 answers that question in a way that makes Him more worth of our love, devotion and worship. Find out what it says in this Sermon at High Peak.

When you have to go before an authority, whether it's your boss, the principal back in school, or anyone else who has power over you, its easier if someone goes with you. That can be a friend, a co-worker, or a supporter. But what if that authority is God? That's more intimidating. However, one person will take you to the throne of heaven and help you walk in like you belong! That's this week's message from Hebrews 4:14-16 as we continue to go through the book of Hebrews seeing how Jesus is better.

The Bible has power unlike any other book. God empowered the word to cut deep to open and expose our inner throughs and feelings. Find out how that can benefit you.

This sermon was about what seems like a boring subject, but was the most exciting I've preached in awhile. It's a complex argument from Hebrews 4:1-11 and discusses how the Sabbath Rest of the OT is not as important as the promised Sabbath Rest of Jesus is.

I got really excited by the end of this as I described the Sabbath rest of eternity that's coming soon for all people. You might want to turn your volume down near the end.

How do you know for sure that you're saved? Doubts creep in and you begin to wonder if your salvation experience was genuine. How do you find assurance and confidence in that decision? It's a difficult thing to fight off those doubts and find security. We talk about that from Hebrews 3:12-19.

Do you suffer from heart disease? I'm not talking about your physical heart, but your heart for the Gospel, for God, and for his will for your life. Hebrews 3:7-11

Why is Jesus superior to other world religion founders like Moses and others? The answer comes in Hebrews 3-4 and this message covers the first six verses of Hebrews 3.

Why does God who claims to love us perfectly also let us suffer so miserably? In this message from Genesis 2 we look at the answer that proves God's love is part of our suffering.

What should you do when fear grips you? A lot of people face real fears related to their health, their job, or family struggles. You can hide out and cower in the corner. You can cover it up with sinful indulgences. Or you can find God's strength from a passage like 2 Tim 2:7. We talk about where fear really comes from and how to deal with it in faith in this sermon from High Peak Baptist Church and Pastor Kevin Purcell.

I was at a meeting of pastors and a friend shared a devotion with us based on John 4:46-53. It's the story of a man who meets Jesus and begs him to come home with him to heal his son. Jesus taught him some great lessons about faith.

The big question is this: are you desperate for Jesus to meet your needs? What if he doesn't answer that request the way you want? How will you respond? Hopefully in faith.

We can understand why a poor person would want to live like a rich person, but why did the prince in Mark Twain's story, The Prince and the Pauper want to live like a poor boy? Maybe Jesus understands why someone would leave the glory of heaven to become like one of us? Hebrews 2:10-18 gives us 5 reasons and that's what this sermon is all about.

Jesus never sat still while we faced an eternity of suffering. How had his journey from heaven to earth and back again helped us make sense of our lives and make him better than the angels and anything else you can imagine. There are a lot of ways to identify things you see. For example, we know trees by the leaves and birds by their colors or shape. This was our first Drive-in Worship Service at High Peak during the pandemic, so the audio's a little off, but the message was hopefully a challenge to let our lights shine before God. It's Time! Think about the anticipation of what's about to come. But what do we see as that anticipated event and how do we live while we wait for it to come?

When you feel helpless you want to know, what can I do to help? Action is often not the best response to a crisis. Paul says prayer can help the most so he offers three prayer requests in Ephesians 1:15-19 for the people in Ephesus dealing with a lot. We're going through a lot right now, so here's what God wants us to know through the Holy Spirit.

We face unprecedented change to our everyday lives in light of a crisis almost no one foresaw. A month into this crisis in the US or many months in for international people in some countries, many people want to know, "When will this all be over?" We don't know but we do not have to live on without any answers. In this message we try to see what God does tell us and how we can trust him in times like these.

The world seems to revolve around me but because of that, our culture is falling apart. Where is the church in stopping this decline? Why is God letting his church grow weaker in America? We look at that from Ezekiel 36 in this sermon in our series through the book of Ezekiel.

On a unique Sunday when churches all over the country cancelled their worship services as a precautionary measure against infecting people with the Coronavirus, we decided to offer hope. Our service streamed live to Facebook as it always does (see the link below). Here's the service along with the pastor's sermon - "How to Keep Your Head While the World's Losing Their Minds" from various passages that offer hope of a peace that surpasses all understanding when we trust God, seek his wisdom and do the right thing.

If there was a fire in a public place, would you just run for the door not worrying about who you knock over on the way? Would you try to help others get out with you? Would you make sure everyone was out safe first, then leave?

Too many Christians live their life focused on getting themselves out of the fire OK. Ezekiel warned us that not sounding the alarm for a world headed to danger was selfish and God will hold us responsible for our failure to help people find safety.

Would you bother to tell someone about coming danger if you knew they would ignore your warnings? Wonder why God bothers to do just that? We look at the book Ezekiel again in chapter 33 to see why he bothers. Hint: God loves people!

Sometimes we have to wait for God to work. Simeon knew this as he waited to see the Messiah. In Southern Baptist Churches we celebrate International Missions during December with a special offering in honor a great missionary to China named Lottie Moon. This message was for our kick off Sunday for that emphasis and came from the theme verse for this year's SBC focus in Revelation 7:9. It's a vision of every nation, tribe, language and people praising the Lord. We can be part of making that vision a reality as we support missions.

When a problem arises in our lives we respond from one end of the spectrum to another. From annoyance and anger on one end to peaceful trust or faith in God. At which end do you spend most of your response time? We talk about that from Psalm 136 which includes the repeated refrain, "His mercy endures forever."

Do you really not want to serve God but can't come up with a good excuse to give Him? I've got 5 of them from the story of Moses' call to become the deliver of Israel from Egypt. These are guaranteed to give you an out so you don't have to serve the Lord.

The third sermon in our series on GROW, taking the letters of that term to form an acrostic. This message uses the O for Other-focused Living. We talk about how Christ lived his life and died for others self sacrificially. We are called to follow that example as well.

The fourth message, focusing on 1 John 2:15-17, talked about how we seek Comfort over service. We want to achieve comfort and eschew all suffering, even if that suffering can benefit other people, like Jesus' suffering on the cross benefits us..

The third message, focusing on Proverbs 29:25-26 and Galatians 1:10 talked about how we seek Approval of people over God's approval. That's a trap, but God will free us if we trust him and seek his pleasure alone.

The second message, focusing on Luke 12:22-34 talked about how we seek Fortune. Instead we can trust God to provide for our needs while we focus instead of building his kingdom. He'll also secure our eternal rewards if we trust him with our lives.

The first message, focusing on John 3:30 and 1 Chronicles 14:16-17 talked about how we seek Fame, not worldwide fame, but notoriety in our own spheres of influence.

We did a Dr. Seuss theme for our 2019 Vacation Bible School. I teach an adult class and each night I took one of Dr. Seuss's best books and used it as a theme for that night's study, so naturally, I preached the Sunday after VBS using Green Eggs and Ham as my theme. The sermon focused on how God is like the Francis Thompson poem says, a Hound of Heaven. Psalm 34:87 served as the key passage for this message.

Part two of the sermon Horrors of Abortion comes with the second reason abortion is always wrong. However, it ends with hope for those who fell victim to the lie that abortion is a good choice for mothers who don't want their child.

On April 7, 2019 our church hosted the director of our local Pregnancy Care Center in Burke County. So I decided to talk about he horror of abortion. In this first part we talk about the first reason that abortion is a horrific choice. But make sure you listen to part two coming out soon. It gives hope to anyone who has been a victim of the horrible abortion industry in America.
