Meet Your Podcast Hosts!
About Tonya
Greetings Friends, I'm Tonya, the founder of Sensitivity Rising, host of the Highly Sensitive Healing Podcast and a Certified Professional Holistic Wellness Guide. As an HSP, I understand firsthand the challenges of navigating life in our modern world while embracing our sensitivity. For a long time, I struggled to find a balance between seeing my trait as a burden or a gift. Through my personal journey, I've come to realize that a healthy mind, body, spirit, and relationships all stem from finding that balance between the two. As an HSP, seeking balance is a daily action that we must constantly work towards. However, by having the right tools to work towards balance in ways that work best for us, the work becomes a joy and not a burden. I've found that embracing yoga, holistic living, and the healing introspection of self-discovery have significantly improved my self-worth, relationships, and perspective of the world. I believe that living as a sensitive person does not have to be painful or isolating. Instead, we must learn how to nurture ourselves in ways that are unique to us. I'm excited to being this new journey of self-discovery, as we explore what wellness means to us as highly sensitive individuals. Let's embrace our sensitivity, find our balance, and live our best highly sensitive lives!
About Daphnie
Hello friends, I'm Daphne Leigh, aka Yogi Ranger. I am the founder of the freedom from anxiety program and the Highly Sensitive and Strong Facebook community. I've been teaching yoga mindfulness and meditation since 1995. And I'm also a clinical health coach, and an Ayurvedic lifestyle coach who specializes in helping highly sensitive people reduce stress and anxiety, so they can have the energy and focus to do the things that are most important to them in life. After being hospitalized for panic and anxiety disorder as a teenager, I became intensely curious about why I had anxiety in the first place, and how I could learn to worry less and be more present and connected with my family and friends. I also wanted to learn to be healthier, while experiencing more peace and calm in my body and mind. Through my studies, I discovered I was a highly sensitive person. And once I learned to care for my sensitive nervous system, I became passionate about helping other highly sensitive people do the same. I believe that highly sensitive people are some of the strongest people I know. We all have important gifts to share with the world. And life is too precious to waste our time being stuck in cycles of overwhelm that can be avoided. Once we know how to care for our own unique selves.

About the HSP Wellness Warriors!
Welcome to the HSP Wellness Warriors podcast with Tonya and Daphnie!
You may have been tuning into the show when it was called Highly Sensitive Healing, and we want to take a moment to explain why we've decided to rebrand as HSP Wellness Warriors.
First, the new name better reflects the values and mission of the podcast. While "Highly Sensitive Healing" was focused on exploring the challenges of being a highly sensitive person, the new name "HSP Wellness Warriors" emphasizes a proactive approach to wellness and a sense of community and empowerment.
Second, the term "warrior" speaks to the strength, resilience, and determination of us as HSPs. It acknowledges that while our sensitivity can sometimes leave us vulnerable, it can also be a powerful source of strength and connection. By embracing our sensitivity and committing to our well-being, we become warriors for our own wellness and for the wellness of our communities and the world.
We're dedicated to helping our fellow HSPs live their best lives, and we believe that by uniting as a community, we can create a world where sensitivity is celebrated, not stigmatized.
We are the HSP wellness warriors, and we're here to lead a revolution of sensitivity. Join us as we explore the world of wellness, and let's continue to grow and evolve together as Highly Sensitive Warriors! We're so excited to share this journey with you!

The Gift of Moving Slowly
Let's chat about slowing down and finding a path for ourselves that isn’t based on what we think everyone else is doing or thinking.
Once we stop rushing through life we’ll be amazed at how much time we actually have to live an intentional purpose filled life.

Reflecting and Reconnecting with Our Authentic Self
Reconnecting to ourselves is about learning who we really are and what we really want without the expectations of others so we start to strip away the layers of noise that have been placed on us, the labels and beliefs that we live under the weight of– most of the time without even knowing why.
Reflecting and reconnecting is about living our lives according to our own truth and no one else's.

5 Simple Ways to Ground Your HSP Energy
Grounding is actually one of the easiest practices we can do, and when we become grounded we become present, its easier to process our thoughts, to shut out the noise of what others think our path should be, and to align ourselves with what is truly meant for us.
So if you also struggle with flooding emotions, too many thoughts, if you find that you’re on a path that doesn’t quite align with your values, or if you just need to pause to reassess what your goals and purpose may be then grounding is a great place to begin!
Episode 56 4 Simple Ways To Hug It Out and Reduce Stress
The HSP Non-HSP Sensitivity Connection: A Conversation with Raphie Wagner
In this episode I chat with my dear friend Raphie Wagner about making connections with non-HSPs through sensitivity.
Raphie is an occupational therapist turned podcast strategist and a non-HSP who shares her experiences with managing her sensitivities and how she navigates the online business world and social media. She shares some great insights for all of us and through our conversation we can see that HSPs and non-HSPs have more in common than we think!

How Do We Know When We’re Forcing And Not Flowing?
How often do we try to force the things we want or think we need into our lives? Anytime we find ourselves forcing things like romantic relationships, friendships, jobs that don’t align with our values or following any path that doesn't feel true to who we are.
Let's talk about how these moments are a perfect time for us to pause and rethink about letting go of what isn't serving us.

4 Simple Ways To Hug It Out and Reduce Stress
In this episode I share one my favorite therapeutic tools and its completely free!
Hugging and being hugged by someone we love is great therapy but what if hugging another person this isn't available to us? What other ways can we find that hugging feeling?

What Causes Us To Get Stuck in Patterns?
How do we get hooked into patterns? Getting stuck keeps us distracted from the present moment as a result we fall into the habit of being controlled by our thoughts and emotions. In this episode we talk about shenpa. According to Pema Chödrön shenpa, is the urge, the hook, that triggers our habitual tendency to close down.
In her book Taking the Leap: Freeing Ourselves from Old Habits and Fears, Pema helps us to understand shenpa and how we can begin to free ourselves from it.

Building resilience as Highly Sensitive People
Whether it's conflicts, sensory overload, criticism, or loss finding the courage and the strength to keep rising up can take all of our energy leaving us very little to spend on anything else.
We live in an overwhelming environment and we’re expected to embrace it, pressured to keep up with all the things, and when we can’t or if we need to take breaks we’re made to feel less than for it.
In this episode we talk about some practical things can we do when we’re IN the thick of it.

Fear of Criticism
Do you try to hide your sensitivity because of the fear of criticism and misunderstanding from other people?
When we keep our thoughts and experiences inside they can become larger than life. Distorted, exaggerated, we begin to spiral with overthinking and overwhelm.
We need to release our emotions in order to make sense of them, process them and find solutions if we’re in the middle of something that needs to change.

Relationships with Non-Hsps: Communication
Is it possible for HSPs and non-HSPs to have a long happy romantic relationship?
Yes! If both are willing to communicate.
In this episode my husband Jon and I discuss how we navigate our communication as a HSP/non-HSP couple.

Relationship Attachments as HSPs
If attachment is defined as emotional bonds as HSPs we know attachment better than anyone. Our emotions run so close to the surface in everything that we do that we often feel more than most no matter which or how many attachment styles we may identify with.
Identifying ourselves as HSP or Empaths and seeing aspects of ourselves in different attachment styles gives us an identity, gives us something to hold on to as a way to try to understand ourselves better.
The yama of aparigraha teaches us to take only what we need, keep only what serves us in the moment, and to let go when the time is right.

Relationship Expectations as HSPs
Relationships can be the source of some of the most profound and fulfilling moments we experience in this lifetime, but they can also be obstacles and painful tests of our resilience and our self-worth.
But when we move from a place of fear instead of a place of love it’s only us who truly suffer. Let's talk about expectations vs reality in relationships.

Embodiment for HSPs: What it means and why it matters
The definition of embodiment can change depending on where you look and who you ask and you can get different answers from different sources.
So what is it, how does it work, and how is it relevant to us as HSPs?
And at the end of the episode we’ll do a short practice together. ♥

BONUS: Loving Kindness Meditation

Living Peacefully: Words from Dr. Wayne Dyer and the Tao Te Ching
Many of us are preoccupied with world conflicts and as Highly Sensitive People the resulting stress can feel overwhelming.
We can feel powerless when we know that many people and animals are struggling in many places across the world, not just the ones occupying today's headlines, very often many are suffering right in our own backyards.
In this episode I share a portion of Dr. Wayne Dyer's book, Change Your Thoughts - Change Your Life: Living the Wisdom of the Tao.
"One of the many gifts of the Tao Te Ching is its mind-stretching quality, especially in the way that Lao-tzu uses irony and paradox to get you to look at life." - Wayne Dyer

Escaping Perfectionism
The idea of perfectionism is usually created during our childhoods. Growing up we rarely have the emotional or mental capacity to process the whats or whys, so we do what we do best as humans to make sense of it all… we tell ourselves stories.
In this episode we talk about how to begin to unlearn these stories we were told about ourselves and continue to replay in our minds long after we’ve transitioned into adulthood.
And I share 5 of my favorite affirmations to help shift your mindset from perfectionism to contentment.

Processing Grief and Loss Meditation
Grief has many forms and it’s different for all of us, it doesn’t follow any logical pattern, there’s no map or directions, there is only confusion, fear, anger, loneliness, regret, depression, just to name a few of the endless cycle and waves of emotions.
Many things cause us feelings of grief, not just the loss of friends and family, we grieve the loss of beloved animal friends, jobs, homes, lifestyles, physical changes, relationships…
As highly sensitive people it's important that we take the time we need to feel our feelings, while not allowing anyone to minimize our emotions or that we try to hide our feelings to placate others.
We need to know that there is no such thing as being too emotional and that we are allowed to grieve and process the experience of loss in our own way, at our own pace and in our own time.
