I'm Grand MamMay 10, 2020

Ep 33 - It's My Birthday I'll Be Gay If I Want To
It’s Kevin’s birthday this week and all the girlies are invited. PJ fills us in on the surprise virtual party he organised for his bff which featured a talent competition made up of Kevin’s friends, family and a flautist. They then discuss birthdays when they were younger and the lengths they would go to in order to try and secure a spot at the popular parties. They rate the different types of parties they used to attend and express their longing for party bags to make a comeback because they used to be weak for them. Also, the Mam Knows Best section receives a makeover.

Ep 32 - Liar, Liar, Jockstrap On Fire
Prompted by Trump’s truly chaotic suggestion of injecting disinfectant into the body to help combat Coronavirus (like what the absolute heck?), the lads explore the medium of fake news and how destructive it can be when it gets into the hands of an Irish mammy via Whatsapp. They reflect on rumours that were spread about them when they were growing up as well as admitting to spreading their fair share of rumours for the skit and they couldn’t let the episode go by without giving a mention to the lies told to us by our own mams. Also, Paul Mescal.

Ep 31 - Bless Me Daddy For I Have Sinned
As we have more time with our thoughts these days, people are letting their conscience get the better of them and are feeling guilty for past misdemeanours. Fortunately, Kevin and PJ are here to absolve you from your sins. The lads trace the origin of the 7 Deadly Sins and question why wanting to get the ride, taking a nap or having a bowl of cereal bigger than the 30g recommended serving suggestion could be perceived as evil. They listen to some chaotic confessions made by listeners and give their take on what the penance should be and also talk about how allergic they are to the 5k challenge and come up with a less taxing assignment of their own.

Ep 30 - Bottomless Samosas
Have you already planned what you’re going to do when this is all over? Well the lads have and start the episode by letting you in on their ideal post-quar day and alcohol and boys feature heavily. They also answer some questions that the girlies have asked over on Instagram so stay tuned to find out things you’ve been dying to know like the lads’ skincare regime and the stories behind their chaotic tattoos.

Ep 29 - Dancing Queens
Day 356 of quarantine and the lads have nothing going on in their lives so they spend the first 10 minutes of the episode discussing soup. They reminisce on fonder times when they were sexually active and as it’s Easter Sunday they debate whether chocolate is better than sex.
They then delve into the world of dance and discuss what made them start dancing in the first place, the industry’s imperfections and reveal the identity of the elusive 6’4 gay dancing cat in the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.

Ep 28 - ConNEEEEECCKKKted
As we find ourselves forced to find alternate means of staying in touch, the lads trace their early experiences of making connections; from pretending to be popular to penpals to sieving through the sea of randomers’ willies on Chat Roulette and Omegle. PJ also shares his tips and tricks for maintaining a wholesome and healthy relationship with his fella and how they make long-distance work for them. Kevin doesn’t have a boyf so can’t offer advice but he does have his gruelling isolation schedule unwillingly revealed so stay tuned to find out what it is.

Ep 27 - Up(skill) To 90
We’re all stuck inside the gaf but instead of wallowing in self-pity and allowing the existential dread to kick in the lads turn their attention to what they plan on doing with their free time. Prompted by everyone doing all the baking bits and putting up pictures of gorgey banana breads on Instagram, the lads put together a list of new skills that they want to master over the coming weeks. They also take a look back at different hobbies they had growing up but fell out of love with because they didn’t excel at them and as gay men they never settle for mediocrity.

Ep 26 - Peak Mammy Behaviour
It’s Mother’s Day so in this episode the lads pay homage to mammies everywhere and celebrate their iconic ways. Prompted by a video of Kevin’s mam blessing his sister’s car with holy water the lads ask for submissions from listeners of examples of peak mammy behaviour and the girlies don’t disappoint. The boys also take you through their A-Z of being an Irish mammy and also talk about ski bits.

Ep 25 - Reeling in the Queers
St Patrick’s Day is fast approaching and though the parades have been cancelled across Ireland the boys are still celebrating with a special episode about the history of Ireland. Unfortunately, neither of the lads have opened a history book since the Junior Cert so their knowledge is definitely a bit rusty but at least they’re passionate. Were all the Vikings rides? Why was Oliver Cromwell so lousy? Is the potato the most versatile vegetable going? Stay tuned to find out.

Ep 24 - Rent Boys
Prompted by the fact that everyone's allergic to the proposed plans to raise the rent of on-campus accommodation for students in several universities across Ireland, the boys decide to discuss their own past experiences with trying to find the perfect, glam gaf. They dish the dirt on previous housemates who they couldn't cope with, talk about landlords who were pure snakes and PJ also reveals a struggle that most Irish men have to come to terms with when they move away from home; how the heck do you work a washing machine?

Ep 23 - Charlie’s Angelic Intuitive
It’s I’m Grand Mam’s first birthday and everyone’s invited to join Kevin and PJ in celebrating a year of having an absolute skittybang. Because the boys could not have anticipated everything that happened with the podcast over the last 12 months, they decide to call upon the powers of the angelic intuitive and tarot reader Rosemary Gallagher (IG: @Rosemary_tarot) to give them an insight on what’s to come in the future. Is success written in the stars for the boys? Will Kevin ever find a fella? Will Rihanna ever drop a new album? All will be revealed…

Ep 22 - M.U.Amen
It’s Lent and though we know the lads don’t know a whole lot about Jesus and stuff they still try and suss out what happened in the desert for the 40 days and 40 nights. Naturally, Pancake Tuesday also gets a mention and the lads talk about their vices and what they’d like to cut out of their lives if they could be bothered.

Ep 21 - Back from Hibergaytion
The boys are back and better than ever and girlies you’re in for a treat. You’ll notice a difference in the quality of sound and no it’s not because Kevin has sorted out his lisp; the boys are now recording from the podcast lounge at Factory Studios on Oxford Street - ABSOLUTE NOTIONS! Once they get over the excitement of their new glam surroundings they turn their attention towards Valentines and discuss secret admirers, love languages and the levels of extra they’re willing to go to in order to win over a fella.

Ep 20 - Happy New Queer
It's the first episode of 2020 so the lads decide to let you in on a few of the goals they've set for the year ahead. They also run through a list of what sent them the most in the last twelve months and what can stay in 2019, whilst also disclosing what they'd like to see more of in the year ahead. They also fill you in on how they got on at home over the holidays and do an ASMR-esque review of the Butler's chocolates PJ's mam got for Christmas.

Ep 19 - Camp as Christmas
Mulled wine at the ready girls because this weeks episode is the Christmas special you’ve all been waiting for. The lads discuss their favourite festive bops, haphazardly piece together the deets surrounding the birth of Our Lord and ask why the shopping centre Santa spoke in a Cork accent.
Happy Christmas girlies x

Ep 18 - Mad for the Cork
Grab your dog and your ruby slippers because in this weeks episode the lads put Dorothy’s ‘There’s no place like home’ theory to the test. The boys tell us all the things they love about their hometown, give a lesson in Cork slang (which they know you’ll be WEAK for) and discuss the perils of taking nudes in your childhood bedroom. ‘Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in London anymore.’

Ep 17 - Department of Edugaytion
In this episode the lads are going back to school and Kevin is weak cause he’s a pure nerd. They talk about making loads of money on your communion and confirmation, having to wear manky uniforms, having school crushes and discuss the iconic discography that formulated the soundtrack to everyone’s primary school life; Alive-O bops. The new series of I’m A Celeb also gets a mention and the lads also have exciting news about live dates and merch (see link below)!

Ep 16 - 40 Winks
*yawns* As a fatigued Anastacia once said ‘I’m sick and tired of always being sick and tired.’ In this episode the lads talk about the fact that no one is getting any sleep at the moment and how as a result everyone looks bate and there’s nothing anyone can do about it because mercury is hanging around in retrograde like a bad smell. They talk about nightmares that haunted them in their childhood, how to combat exhaustion as a busy gay man in London and they also rank their favourite type of naps.

Ep 15 - Boo B!tch
It’s Halloween so in this episode the lads talk all things scary (but nothing too scary as Kevin really doesn’t like scary movies). The lads discuss iconic costumes, going egging and Ouija board bits. Also, like episode five in the first season, the lads take the opportunity to answer some questions that have been submitted so have a listen to find out things you’ve always wanted to know about the boys like if they could be any Pokémon what one would they be.

Ep 14 - Let's Get Sickening
In this episode the lads talk all about ailments and afflictions. PJ shares his secret sick routine that he would perform the mornings when he didn’t want to go in to school and Kevin tells us how he pretended to be feeling just fine when he was under the weather as he couldn’t think of anything worse than going on the hop. They also couldn’t let the episode go by without discussing/reveling in the biggest scandal of the century. It’s….....Rebekah Vardy’s account.

Ep 13 - Britney Spears and Garden Shears
In this weeks episode the lads take it back to when the craic was 90. Prompted by Kevin’s recent appearance on the iconic Supermarket Sweep they discuss the recent trend of everything making a comeback. Join the boys as they take a trip down memory lane and share what they think should also be making a revival in 2019 and what should definitely stay in the past because it sends them. Will episode 13 prove to be a lucky number for the boys or will the magpies they failed to salute in their lives to date have something else to say about it?

Ep 12 - Social Mediyaaas
In this week’s episode the lads trace social media back to its humble beginnings; from having to connect to the internet via the phone line to send a few brazen messages on MSN after school way back when to nowadays where we obsess over what caption we choose to go with our fresh photos with the bomb lighting. They also follow up on PJ’s theory about ice-cream men from the last episode and Kevin reveals why he’s going to be doing a lot of riding from now on.

Ep 11 - Hot Girl Summer Hiatus
The boys are back and are more of a skit than ever! First they catch you up on what's been happening over the course of their summer hiatus and teach you some of their new vocab so you can understand what exactly they're going on about. Then, prompted by Normani's latest single 'Motivation', they delve into the world of iconic music videos and try to determine how a pop princess achieves gay icon status and assess whether K-pop artists are truly happy or are actually robots/holograms incapable of feeling emotion.

Ep 10 - Lettuce Guacamole Bacon Tomato
It's the season finale and the lads start off by taking a look back at their work to date and talk about their favourite episodes and discuss whether they feel they've delivered on what they promised in the first episode (hint: they haven't). Also in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots the lads talk all about Pride and how it means so much more to them than an artisanal meal deal sandwich in a rainbow coloured box.

Ep 09 - Ho(e)mos
In this NSFW episode the lads talk all about sex but really don't end up doing a whole load of talking about sex at all because they're half mortified and also their mammies are listening and also they are very sexually inactive as PJ is in a long distance relationship and Kevin is forever alone. They talk about sex education in schools, upholding their reputations as masc dom tops and the episode also includes a not at all arousing reading from a renowned erotic novel.

Ep 08 - Summer Holigays
In this episode the lads talk all about summer; the time of year when gays everywhere level up and strip down to their aussieBum speedos, bleach their hair and drink tins of gin and slimline tonic in the park whilst listening to Carly Rae Jepsen. Kevin and PJ recount tales from family holidays abroad when they were young, share their top tips for making the most of PRIDE season and discuss the perils of commuting via the central line when the weather's only unreal.

Ep 07 - Do You Even Lift Sis?
It’s no secret that Kevin and PJ are absolute visions of health and so this week the lads share all their tips and tricks so that you too can become a fitness influencer just like them. They also discuss what gets on their tits when on the gym floor, ultimate workout bops and their favourite yoga positions – Namaslay sis!

Ep 06 - Gay for Pay
In this weeks episode the lads felt inspired by all the iconic gay bops containing the word 'work'. They talk all about employment and previous jobs they've had and tear apart the notion that if you find a job you love you'll never have to work a day in your life (lies).

Ep 05 - Q&Gay
It's Easter Sunday and it's fairly obvious that the lads haven't been to mass in a hot minute as their knowledge of the resurrection is questionable to say the least. But who needs to know about Jesus and stuff when there's more pressing issues at hand like who should play the next James Bond and what hobbies do their mams have. All will be revealed in this episode as the lads answer these questions and a holy host of other que(e)ries that you've been gagging to know the answer to.

Ep 04 - Tinder Loving Care
In this episode Kevin and PJ talk about dating and the pros and cons of being able to select from eligible bachelors at the swipe of a finger. They rate Kevin's Tinder game and discuss what they look for in potential suitors and PJ tells us how he copes with being in a long distance relationship. The boys also reveal who their favourite Disney princess is.

Ep 03 - 'My Dad's a Pint and my Mam's a Packet of Tayto'

Ep 02 - Silk Scarves and Spice Girls
In this episode the lads share their coming out stories and recount red flags from their childhood and teenage years which signaled that they were slightly different to all the other boys.

Ep 01 - The Pilot
In this inaugural episode PJ and Kevin get to grips with using a microphone they bought from Amazon Prime the day previous and ask themselves whether it was even a good idea to start a podcast in the first place. They also talk about what to expect from episodes to come and reveal their lack of knowledge when it comes to the royal family and co-parenting for the first time.
