175. How to Build Systems in Your Business with Sofia Scott
Systems are powerful because they allow you to free up time and energy to focus on your most creative and important work that excites you.
By automating repetitive, mundane tasks that suck up so much time, you can streamline tasks that get you down and become an energy suck.
Originally from Argentina, guest speaker and systems expert Sofia Scott tells her story of moving to the U.S. when she was 5 years old and going on to build a wide-ranging career across international development and aid, business development, project management, business analysis, and most recently, private sector technology program management for large companies like Microsoft.
Sofia gives highly valuable tips and strategies on how to start building systems when you are just starting a business. In this episode, learn:
-How to start thinking about building processes and systems in your business step by step
-How to identify tasks to automate and reduce duplicative steps
-Strategies to develop the same way to get the same result each time for recurring actions in your business, instead of having to figure out different ways each time

174. How Pluto in Aquarius Impacts Your Finances, Business, and Purpose
Have you been feeling stuck, with a burning desire to make a larger impact but not sure how to channel it most effectively?
What's causing that?
Turns out you're not alone - many people are feeling this deep question brewing. Like something is missing. That there is a greater purpose calling.
In this episode, I discuss how I similarly felt deep frustration, knowing I had so much more in me to create and serve others with. (And how, ultimately, this moved me toward creating Immigrant Finance.)
Listen to learn about larger astrological transformations happening for the next nearly 20 years as Pluto has entered Aquarius, which will define our generation, and what they mean for you in terms of your finances, business endeavors, and purpose.
When you understand the context of how these shifts are happening, you’ll have more insight into whatever frustrations may be coming up for you in this area and what direction they might be moving you toward, for the better.
In this episode I’m going to show you how some of the astrology in the skies above helps shed light on why many of us have been feeling these struggles so we can each move into a space more oriented toward focusing on the betterment of the world.

170. The 3 Biggest Blocks to Getting Started Investing
For most of our students and community members, learning how to invest is NOT the main thing blocking them from building wealth.
For immigrant families, we see that learning how to navigate the intersection of the immigration law and financial systems is also NOT the main issue.
Guess what is?
It's FEAR. 😨
That's right.
For most folks, FEAR of investing is the #1 issue getting in the way of their ability to find financial freedom and generational wealth.
The worst part?
Most fears getting in the way of investing are actually misconceptions and not even true! 😢
In this episode, listen to some clips from our recent training on "How to Invest for Immigrants", including the 3 Biggest Blocks to Getting Started Investing so you can move past them and start building wealth. These foundational tips apply to all immigrants and non-immigrants!

168. How to Prioritize Your Finances So You Can Serve Others
Feel like prioritizing your own financial situation would be at odds with your passion to serve others?
What's causing that?
Unfortunately, many of us have been taught that focusing on our own needs is selfish, in conflict with our values, and greedy.
This is definitely something I've struggled with over the years having worked in the public interest/social justice space for about 15 years.
Here’s the thing. Even if you are able to do meaningful work serving others while struggling with finances yourself, your capacity to make the impact you could be making is more limited than it needs to be.
Read that again.
But when you understand why it doesn't have to be either/or, you’ll know how to reframe it when it comes up for you.
In this episode, I’m going to show you how to start to move past the belief that you have to sacrifice yourself for good so you can move forward, find more financial peace of mind, and expand your impact. You’ll also learn:
*Why it's important to prioritize your finances so you can serve others
*The continuum I use to think about finding abundance, as something that does not involve gluttony at the expense of others
*What to do when you find yourself struggling financially
*How to take action learning about finances (finally!) break free from getting in your own way of accessing financial security
--> Listen to Ep. 168: Prioritizing Your Finances So You Can Serve Others if you're ready to stop keeping yourself stuck in scarcity beliefs at your own expense and be in a position to serve others with a greater impact.

167. How to Navigate Your Career Journey with Simone W. Johnson Smith
Have you felt lost about how to figure out the direction of your career?
In this episode, guest Simone W. Johnson Smith shares her inspiring story of how she navigated the educational and career systems in the U.S. to discover her career path after immigrating to the U.S. from Jamaica as a young girl to later become a U.S. diplomat.
Simone's story provides a powerful example of the importance of constantly learning, being curious, and following the signs for guidance on the next step in following your purpose.
From following her excitement to study Spanish at a young age in Jamaica, to following the tip of a friend to apply for a highly esteemed fellowship to work at the U.S. Department of State, to pursuing opportunities to work abroad in international affairs and humanitarian work, Simone shows us how to stay open to opportunities along the way in our journey that can guide us toward more closely discovering our purpose.
For individuals from immigrant families in particular, this episode touches on important lessons such as:
*How to pursue your dreams, even if you have less connections and privilege than others born in the U.S.,
*How to use time wisely to reach your goals, and
*How to find the right support from mentors to help show you the way.

159. How to Get Student Loan Forgiveness
More than half - 54 percent - of student loan borrowers report experiencing mental health challenges due to student loan debt.
So many of us feel crippling overwhelm, anxiety, fear, and even depression when it comes to even thinking about student loans.
What's causing that?
Often, it's due to not knowing your options and not having a financial plan. Without knowing what resources might be available to you to manage your student loans, and even potentially get loan forgiveness, it can feel nearly impossible to plan for the future, nevermind explore your purpose.
I completely get it. Many of the students I've worked with as an Accredited Financial Counselor® struggle to face their finances and take steps toward their personal and professional goals due to student loans.
Here’s the thing. Ignoring or avoiding student loans is the worst way to deal with them.
Read that again.
It's like finding out a hurricane is coming to your area and just freezing up, hoping it will pass, instead of taking time to prepare your home and stock up on food and water.
In this episode, learn options for student loans forgiveness, cancellation, and management that might be available to you so you can feel less overwhelmed and more in control with your financial planning.
In this episode, I’m going to show you how to start to move past the fear of facing student loans and start learning about options available so you can start to move forward. You’ll learn:

157. 3 Strategies to Build Success Through Consistency
Wishing and hoping things you want in life will just figure themselves out eventually on their own is NOT the best way to make your goals happen.
Why is that?
Because being passive means being inconsistent.
Whether your goals are related to finances, business, and/or discovering how to make an impact on the world, consistency is what can help you move the needle.
Consistency is how we do the daily, weekly, and monthly actions that add up over time to get us where we want to go in life.

I get it! I was left disappointed with the progress on my own new year's goals for most of my life.
There's another approach to go about goal setting though, which is way more effective.

153. How to Stop Feeling Guilty Wanting Profit
The word "profit" can feel a bit triggering, bringing up negative narratives about the evil harms of capitalism, industrialization, and the patriarchy.
In our own lives, we can feel guilt and shame for wanting "more" - or essentially, profit - more money, more time, more boundaries, more freedom, etc...
Even if we are broke, living paycheck to paycheck, not getting paid what we deserve, not charging for our work, or undercharging.
We can also feel resentment toward those who are making surplus, and assume they must be "bad."
What causes that?
Fundamentally, it's a misunderstanding of what profit and abundance truly mean.
This is something I've struggled with myself for years.
Here's the thing. Believing profit is a bad thing only keeps you in survival mode.
But when you understand why the concept of profit is so misunderstood, you’ll know how to shift perspectives quickly the next time you feel guilty for wanting more.
In this episode, let's dig in to learn:
How to stop feeling guilt for wanting more money How to feel in integrity desiring more What to do when you want to feel good asking for money How to finally shift negative thoughts around profit and embrace abundance in your life going forwardListen to episode 153: "How to Stop Feeling Guilty Wanting Profit" if you're ready to avoid feeling guilt around wanting more and feel good asking for it!

Fear of being visible online is one of the most important challenges to overcome if we want to fulfill our purpose and make an impact on the world.

142. Podcast Updates from the Heart
Dear listeners, I've got something on my heart to share.
💚 For about a year now, I've been going through a big shift personally as a creator, advocate, business and financial coach, business owner, mother, wife, and human being. It's been bringing me in new directions and has been leading to lots of growth.
💚 I've felt a similar "pulling toward" feeling many times in life. Especially before starting Immigrant Finance,™ which led to its creation. It usually starts with discomfort, fear, doubt, and future-tripping. Followed by a surge of energy pulling me into an unknown direction. Finally, I am led to the next step in my journey.
💚 Many of you are going through similar experiences. As you journey through your financial empowerment or other aspects of life, you may be going through overwhelming fear and doubt.
💚 You may think something is wrong, not realizing you're actually going through massive growth. This happens a lot with our coaching students before they have a major financial, business, or mindset breakthrough.
💚 To build wealth and step into complete abundance, we have to constantly grow as people.
❤️Check out this episode to hear more about the process of growth, and some exciting updates for this show that have come out of the creative process!

Adina

111. Can My Immigrant Parents Invest?
Many people in our community are concerned about how their parents are not investing and have no retirement plan. What makes this even more frustrating is not know whether as an immigrant their parents are even allowed to invest.
When your parents have no retirement plan, you know you and/or your siblings likely will be the one who have to bear the consequences. Almost all of our Immigrant Finance School™ students, for example, are the retirement plan for their parents. For many families it's often unspoken, and never discussed, but everyone knows what the future will look like when their parents have no retirement plan.
This is not something you want to avoid: planning in advance will only make things easier in the future.
If this is you, one of the best things you can do to lessen the burden is to become the leader on finances in your family and teach your parents how to start investing for retirement. Do what you can today to learn the rules of the money game and become a confident investor.
And if your parents are open to learning about investing on their own too, even better.
For Spanish-only speaking parents, we have Escuela de Finanzas de Inmigrantes™ - a version of our signature Immigrant Finance School™ program in Spanish - available for pre-sale at a discount while we complete translation.
