One more week, and either we protect democracy and move Indiana forward to a place where how you exist in the world is protected. Or, we turn the clock back and let those that don't like you control the most private aspects of your life. It is up to us.And we only need to flip four IN House seats to end the super majority, and this week, we will have two more that are looking to move Indiana forward.

We are seeing how problematic a Braun/Beckwith administration will be. AG Rokita is awful and the supermajority continues to write policies that can be harmful to Hoosiers. OH, and there are three members of the IN Supreme Court on your ballots. We have the chance between now and Nov 5th to change the direction of our state. We can't sit this one out. Too many of our state house races are uncontested, which is a tragedy. One question I often hear is who is running for this office or that office. But it is not easy to run for office, and the candidates need all the help they can get. This week we have two more candidates on Turn Left that still need your help to get them across the finish line. Tune in to hear their stories.

I'm not gonna lie, with the way Republicans are so ready to toss our democracy aside for an autocrat, you know your lives are not what they are worried about. They claim to be the party of freedom, but they attack freedom for women to control their bodies; they attack freedom for our trans youth and our freedom to read what we want. The only way to prevent the bad legislation that is surely going to be introduced in the next session is to end the super majority. It takes all of us. Please, time, talent, or treasure, get in the movement and help get out the vote. Our lives depend on it. Less than 30 days!! This is where we are, and unfortunately, not enough people care about their own interests to vote for the people who will protect body autonomy, protect public education, and protect collective bargaining. Not only that, we need to protect democracy from those that want to turn back the clock to when only land-owning white men had a say in our democracy. We won't go back!!

We can protect our statehouse if we work to elect Democrats on the ballot. This week, two more candidates who are looking to end that supermajority and bring balance and common sense to the statehouse.

Turn Left with special guest Jennifer McCormick and Terry Goodin

We have less than 60 days left, and you know the stakes for this year's election. Democrats around the country are excited about the Harris/Walz campaign. I join in that excitement.

I understand how easy it is to focus on the presidential race; however, we need that same energy to make sure Indiana does not take a turn back to the 1950's. The Braun/Beckwith, with a supermajority if we don't flip some seats in the state house, will do just that. Braun's policies do not align with the needs of Hoosiers, and Beckwith is just flat out dangerous. Beckwith is a White Christian nationalist and is working tirelessly to recruit more to his vision of America.

See for yourself: https://youtu.be/tWcRrcvWYds?si=QPmmO3Y2wHXlJlDK

That is why it is necessary for us to work with and be committed to helping Jennifer McCormick and Terry Goodin win the election for Indiana's top seat. If we don't do everything necessary, whatever good work being done with a Harris/Walz administration will not be felt here at home. We cannot afford that.

Join me this Thursday when we chat with Jennifer McCormick, our Democratic candidate for Governor of Indiana. We will learn about her vision for Indiana and how we can move our state forward.

As always, we turn every Turn Left episode into a fundraiser for the guests.

So let's bring that energy down to Southern Indiana. If all that I mentioned can happen, then we can send two Democrats from southern Indiana to Congress. The news of Micah Beckwith winning the election for Lt. Governor should cause concern. He is looking to bring the same type of chaos to our state house that he brought to the library board in Hamilton County. Dude wants to ban books and ban the LGBTQ+ community.

But we can prevent him from winning if we show up. There are more reasonable people in Indiana than there are these clowns. This week on Turn Left, you can learn about two people who are looking to end the supermajorities in both chambers. Candidate Katrina Owens IN SD 32

Now that we have all taken a breath from the primary, have you considered which candidates or campaigns you will support?

May I make a suggestion? We must end the super majority in the statehouse. So many policies that are being created can be harmful to Hoosiers, and good policies that could help Hoosiers are not getting into committees.

As Democrats, we don't have enough elected officials on our side to push any initiatives we may have. The best we can do is hopefully make bad bills less bad or try to add amendments to bills that could help Hoosiers.

Our state government is not representing the people, the way it is supposed to.We can complain, but it would be better for us to spend time helping candidates. Like my two guests this week.

As women we are natural leaders and multitaskers. But we don't even realize how balancing the home, work and rest are essential components to being a great leader. There are multiple ways to impact your community. You could volunteer with great nonprofit organizations. You could be appointed to boards and commissions, or you could run for office. We can take those natural skills and apply them in a way that improves lives in your communities.

After talking about how we as women should run for office...ALL the offices...I'm excited to chat with Erin Easter who is running for Mayor of West Lafayette.Join us Thursday for Turn Left, Indiana Politics from the Left Side of Things!
