Larry's book Abandoned, The History and Horror of Port Chatham, Alaska, is one of the only books ever published soley on the topic of the Portlock/Port Chatham story and events that unfolded leading to its abandonment. The fishing village of Portlock, Alaska was abandoned in the 1950s and the stories ran rabid on why everyone would leave a still prosperous and lively town. The natives told stories of the vicious creature that stalked the woods that they referred to as the Nantiinaq. The upright walking hair covered creature stalked the past and it never left. Bodies of hunters showed up in the bay, a man was found bludgeoned to death, and many witnessed this giant wildman of the woods with regularity. Rumor has it, the tension got so bad with the creature or that everyone left their established lives in order to save themselves and their families. Sometimes there's things that you will come across in your life that just don’t make much sense and dealing with an unknown upright walking giant Ape in the woods of North America is hard enough to believe, I get it. But what about those other creatures that are reported with regularity throughout time. Ones that fly, swim, warp in and out of this dimension. What about Giant moths, or ancient prehistoric giants, birds or dinosaurs that soar through the sky and are reported in different geographical areas and different times to have swooped down just to grab a family pet or worse, sometimes it's an actual member of the family. Out of all of the things that go bump in the night, there is one category that really trips me up. One that is shaped like us, walks like us, and may even think like us. But one thing is for sure, it doesn’t look like us and it for sure didn’t come from our family tree. Nope, these things remind us more about lizards, amphibians, reptilian aliens, and even dinosaurs. These are the things really going bump in the night, the things that are truly made of nightmare fuel, the things that could possibly be another evolutionary line of a dinosaur or lizard that we are completely unaware of that could have potentially evolved intelligence as good or better than ours. These are the Reptoids of the Cryptozoological world.

Anthropologists have gone back and forward for decades about the exact timeframe of human life on Earth. Gorillas, Chimps, Bonobos, Orangutans and Humans, all of which are referred to as the Greater Apes and out of our evolutionary cousins, we are vastly different. We look nothing alike. We act nothing alike. We are structured differently. With all of the differences we see between ourselves and our Ape cousins, we need to ask the question. What went so different for us? The other Apes evolved from those that moved with the shrinking forest, and we evolved from those that took to the plains. It was this that led Humans to develop bipedalism, hairless skin, toolmaking, increased intelligence, and verbal communications. Or so science believed. Long story short, this was proved false but we're not here to dissect this concept, instead we’re here to discuss a specific possibility of our history. One that mainstream science immediately denies under any and all circumstances. Today we dive into a theory that doesn’t place us into the vast plains or the Forests of Africa. But the borders in which land meets sea. Instead we dive deep into the most rejected possibility of them all. Today we look into the Aquatic Ape Theory!
