Women in Space Policy
In the 1950s, Russian space probes Sputnik started a space race that defined the coming decade. With NASA aiming for asteroids, the moon and beyond, billionaires and superpowers heading for Mars and a new generation of manned and unmanned space flight, what policies will it take for a country like Britain and city like London to thrive?
Speakers:
Theodora Ogden (moderator) is an analyst working in the area of defence, security and infrastructure at RAND Europe. Theodora holds a MSc in crisis & security management from Leiden University and a LLM. in human rights law from Birkbeck College, University of London. She is also the 2022 Fellow at the Interplanetary Initiative at Arizona State University.
Dr Julia Muraszkiewicz is the Head of the Sociotech Insights Group at Trilateral Research and a Course Lead for Space Law at the University of Amsterdam. Julia holds a PhD in Law from The Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She is a member of the Social Responsibility Alliance and is involved in two mentorship programs (the University of Warwick and the University of Amsterdam) where she motivates, supports and mentors students, including future female leaders.
Dr Jill Stuart is a Visiting Fellow at The London School of Economics and Political Science. She is an expert in the politics, ethics and law of outer space exploration and exploitation. From 2013 to 2017 Dr Stuart was Editor in Chief of the Elsevier journal Space Policy, where she remains a member of the Editorial Board. In 2015 she was awarded the prestigious Margaret Mead Award Lecture by the British Science Association in recognition of her cutting edge research.

As an international lawyer, author and speaker, Susie Alegre has worked on some of the most challenging legal and political issues of our time including human rights and security, combating corruption in the developing world, protecting human rights at borders, the human rights impact of climate change on small island states, privacy, cybersecurity, disinformation, data protection and neurotech. Her experience includes both judicial, and oversight roles in the UK and internationally.

In these podcasts, we will be talking recent developments in conflicts and geopolitics, and looking forward to the big issues and trends that will define the still new decade.
Our first guest has several decades of experience throughout his US Naval career in both the Atlantic and the Pacific. Admiral Gary Roughead gradulated from the US Naval Academy in 1973. In 2007, he became the 29th Chief of Naval operations and is one of two officers in the Navy's history to have commanded both the Atlantic and Pacific fleets.
