During the episode Mark talks about life during apartheid, being a straight A student but not being allowed to go to University and being cheers for on the weekend but on Monday its back to reality.

Coast to Coast Episode 5 - The race we almost ran
Join the Team for Episode 5. We recorded this episode on Sunday. As you will tell those heading to the Gold Coast were planning on enjoying the joys of race week...well things started to change within hours. As you would know the Gold Coast marathon has since been canceled and most capital cities in Australia put into snap lockdowns. We decided to go ahead with posting the episode as we share what our plans were if the race did in fact go ahead.
The good news is we are not going anywhere and we will be back next Month as we have all locked in our next marathons and Dawid iss till on track for Bibra lake. Enjoy the episode.

Sandy has thrown down her first goal of the year to break 25mins for a 5km.

Carla Molinaro - Just give it a go
Her latest achievement though is probably her greatest. In 2020 she broke the Guinness world record for the time to run from Lands end to John O'Groats 1327km in a time of 12 days 30mins and 14 seconds.

In January like many Dion was planning on running Comrades 2020 in June but we know how that has all worked out.
Dion is based in Melbourne which went through months of hard covid restrictions.
In an amazing effort Dion smashed the Australian men’s 50km record by racing the distance on a track.

This was an outdoor interview so it was pretty windy early but stick with it as the wind dies down. We also had a couple of local seagulls drop in for a chat too.

Caitriona Jennings holds a Marathon Personal best of 2:36 which qualified her to represent Ireland at the 2012 Olympics. Her most recent achievement is placing Third Female in the Comrades Marathon which is the world’s oldest Ultra Marathon in a time of 6:24:12.
During this Episode I speak to Caitriona about how ecstasy quickly turned to agony during her Olympic marathon due to injuries. Caitriona speaks about her decision to take up rowing in the aim of partnering her sister to an Olympic games.
Caitriona speaks about her professional career and how she balances it with running.
We touch on Comrades with Caitriona providing some insight into life of an elite Comrades runner.
At the end of the interview we are joined by somebody Caitriona met in the closing stages of Comrades during a time she had a real fear of not making it. Wayne Spies was on hand to provide Caitriona with extra motivation to push through to claim her gold medal. The two of them haven’t spoken since that moment on race day so I was glad I could facilitate the reunion which encapsulates the true Comrades Spirit.
