Leaning on God's Promises

The scriptures are full of God's promises and wisdom, which can serve as tools to navigate the most difficult moments in life. By clinging to these promises, we remind ourselves of God's unchanging love and faithfulness. Reflecting on these promises can deepen our understanding of God's character and plan, ultimately leading to improved mental and emotional health.  Nicky highlights the passages from Jeremiah and Psalms as proof of God's love and faithfulness during our lowest points. Overcoming Burnout: Expert Tips from Ash Burnside

Overcoming Burnout: Expert Tips from Ash Burnside

Understanding Burnout
Burnout is a state of chronic physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion that results from prolonged exposure to stress and excessive demands. This constant state of stress can lead to physical and mental health problems, including hormonal imbalances, adrenal fatigue, and a decreased sense of well-being. Recognizing the signs of burnout is the first step towards recovery, which may involve evaluating one's current commitments, workload, and lifestyle choices. In the podcast episode, Ash Burnside shared her personal experience with burnout as a high-achieving marketing professional. She discussed how being crowded out from one's own life, feeling overwhelmed with responsibilities, and lacking time for personal interests are key indicators of burnout. Ash also delved into the physical aspects of burnout, including hormonally driven symptoms and adrenal fatigue. Understanding burnout is essential for identifying its presence and addressing its root causes in order to promote recovery and prevent relapse.

The Relentless Boy Mom: Adrianne Taylor on Parenting and Communication

The Relentless Boy Mom: Adrianne Taylor on Parenting and Communication

When single mother Adrianne Taylor unexpectedly becomes a "boy mom" of five children ranging from age six to 25, her relentless pursuit to build an open, honest, and intentional relationship with her sons highlights the central conflict of her podcast, "The Relentless Boy Mom".
"No matter what, we just keep going, and it's going to be all right. We can't ever give up. Our kids are looking to us in any situation, and how we react is how they're going to react. How we perceive the situation is how they're going to perceive it."
Adrianne Taylor is a boy mom of five and host of the podcast "The Relentless Boy Mom," where she shares her experiences of navigating motherhood and encourages other moms to keep a positive mindset.

Adrianne Taylor experienced firsthand the importance of communication in parenting after becoming a young single mom of three boys. Despite the struggles she faced, she persevered and learned the importance of engaging her oldest son, Caleb, in conversations before her remarriage and the arrival of her other sons. Now, with her oldest son at 25 and youngest son at 6, Adrianne has seen the differences in her parenting, and encourages other parents to bring their children into conversations and be intentional in asking them how they feel. Despite the difficulties of parenting, Adrianne still plans fun family activities, understanding that not every day will go perfectly.
In this episode, you will learn the following:

1. The Challenges of Raising Adult Children: How to transition from making decisions for your children to allowing them to make their own decisions.
2. The Power of Intentional Conversations: How to ask your children thought-provoking questions to deepen your relationship.
3. The Reality of Highlight Reels: How to be mindful of the pressure to compare us to the "perfect" lives portrayed on social media.

Chapter Summaries:

[00:00:00]
Adrianne Taylor is a boy mom of five. To motherhood unfiltered is going to be okay. Lots of times moms are in the middle of some kind of catastrophe or anxiety attack. If you keep a positive mindset and work through the problems at the Indian, it'll be all right.

[00:01:00]
Aaron Carroll: I have a podcast called the relentless boy mom. He says once you become a mom, that's who you become. Carroll: You don't have to be a boy mom to listen to his podcast or even be a guest on it. He wants to let all moms know that you're doing the best that you can.

[00:07:41]
There's a huge difference between my oldest and my youngest and how I thought as a mom, how I parented and things that mattered. Does your older son offer any kind of needed or wanted advice to the youngers?

[00:11:49]
When you have a boy or a girl, bring them into the conversation because their life is going to be changing. Having a positive male role model in the home can change the family dynamics. I would recommend is if you are a single mom looking to remarry.

[00:20:29]
I enjoy seeing my kids as adults. I don't like seeing them struggle. They're able to handle adulthood as best as they know how. And they're working through the problems. Sometimes they look for us to just give them answers.

[00:22:38]
Roxanne Jones: It's almost tougher raising adult children because as little kids, you can kind of help them work through their problems. Having a six-year-old and a 25 year old helps me appreciate the younger one, she says. Jones: Being more mindful and intentional of asking them how they are going.

[00:28:12]

Divine Messy Human: Amanda Kate's Spiritual Guide to Prioritizing Internal Truth

Nourish your body, mind, and spirit to break free from external influences and embrace inner truth.

"We've just been taught to look outside ourselves for the answers. In essence, the body knows how to heal itself."

Amanda Kate is a Kinesiologist, archetypal life coach, mentor and author of Divine Messy Human: A Spiritual Guide to Prioritizing Internal Truth Over External Influence.

[00:00:03]

Nicky: Amanda Kate is the author of Divine Messy Human a Spiritual Guide to Prioritizing Internal Truth Over External Influence. If you're watching on YouTube, to comment like and subscribe. I've got five spots open for coaching.

[00:02:14]

Amanda Kate is a Kinesiologist and archetypal life coach. Her new book is a spiritual guide to prioritizing internal truth over external influence. She will be speaking with us today.

[00:03:43]

Kinesiology helps us tap into what's going on under the surface in that subconscious. In essence, the body knows how to heal itself. What we want to do is find what is stressing the body. Is it physical, chemical, or emotional?

[00:11:50]

We are always looking for acceptance, validation, connection, love in the outside world. All marketing goes into some form of shame. The patriarchal structure where less than half a percent of people are rich and doing well. The rest of us are struggling to make ins and eat.

[00:22:16]

In eating, we are bringing in some form of nourishment. What we're actually looking for at the very basis of it is connection. If I can eat until I feel full, it's filling up the emptiness that I have from other things that aren't nourishing me.

[00:31:08]

We do need external scaffolding. We do need a number of different modalities, too. I encourage my clients to go and see a Naturopath, to be seeing an Acupuncturist. We want to do it at a pace that your nervous system can manage.

[00:38:48]

"The quantum leaps come from those tiny little simple steps that you put into your daily life, " she says. If you just make 1% or 2% changes every day, every week, it is not too long until you are on a completely different trajectory.

[00:45:35]

Oh, duh. Nicky you're live. That confused me. But people who know me and follow me, there's always something going on with her. So I will put her contact information in the show notes when the episode gets released.

Pursuing God Over Perfection: Tammy Bartels's Journey

When Tammy Bartels, a corporate mom turned stay-at-home mom, is thrust into a season of life she never planned for, she discovers a greater purpose in pursuing a relationship with Jesus instead of perfection in the world.

"His plan is greater than your plan every time." - Tammy Bartels

Tammy Bartels was an overwhelmed stay-at-home mom, feeling like she was standing still in her chaotic world. At a retreat with her business coach, God called her to use her season to raise her children to be followers of Him. She began to pursue a relationship with God over worldly perfection and was soon checking in with a Bible study group and reading the Bible in a chronological order. God then inspired her to write a devotional to help other women take those same baby steps in getting into the Word. After six years, she now knows that God's plan is always greater than her own.

In this episode, you will learn the following:

1. What life lessons did Tammy learn when she was "thrust into" stay-at-home life?

2. How did Tammy's relationship with Jesus Christ grow when her family moved across the country?

3. How has Tammy's pursuit of a relationship with Jesus, rather than perfection in the world's terms, changed her life?

Unraveling the Financial Incentives to Deny Applications with Spencer Bishins

Unraveling the Financial Incentives to Deny Applications with Spencer Bishins

In this episode, Spencer Bishins, a former Social Security employee and author of 'Social Security Field', reveals the truth about the agency's financial incentive to deny claims and explains the steps to successfully navigate the complex process to access disability benefits.

"Once you understand the process and the barriers Social Security has in place, you can navigate the system and access the benefits you deserve."

Spencer Bishins is a disability expert with a Master's degree from the London School of Economics, a law degree from Florida State University, and over 10 years of experience working for the Social Security Administration. He has written the book Social Security Disability Revealed to demystify the complicated disability system.

Spencer Bishins sold a lot of books about Social Security, and then noticed a financial incentive for Social Security to deny applications. Through his experience rating and reviewing thousands of decisions, he saw that no one was providing a comprehensive guide to the process. He wrote a book to help people figure out the process, to understand that Social Security has a financial incentive to deny as many claims as possible, and to recognize that Congress has the power to adjust the system's financial situation. With this knowledge, Spencer believes that people can navigate the system and access the benefits they need.

In this episode, you will learn the following:

1. What are the financial incentives behind Social Security's disability program?

2. How can Immigration affect the Social Security trust fund?

3. What should people know about the Social Security disability application process before applying?

Kevin McShan's Story of Success Despite Having Cerebral Palsy

Kevin McShan's Story of Success Despite Having Cerebral Palsy

In spite of his disability, Kevin McShan is out there making it happen, doing his work and not letting anything hold him down.

You will learn how Kevin McShan went from being born with cerebral palsy to becoming a successful businessman.

"I always tell people that there's no 50% off policy when they have a disability. It's not likely to return them to the store."

Kevin McShan is a graduate of St. Clair's College journalism, print and new media program. Kevin has an extensive history of promoting employment equality for individuals with disabilities, most recently as the job developer and enhanced employer support facilitator with the YMCA. Kevin also continues the effort of promoting inclusion for people with disabilities through his motivational speaking efforts.

I'm Kevin McShan, and I have cerebral palsy. Despite my disability, I've gone on to graduate from college and have a successful career in promoting employment equality for individuals with disabilities. I'm also a motivational speaker, and I use my platform to share my story and promote inclusion for people with disabilities. I credit a lot of my success to my family, who have always taught me to go after my dreams and never give up. One of my favorite things to do is play pranks with my identical twin brother - like dumping all the spices from the spice rack into a cup of milk and daring each other to drink it!

In this episode, you will learn the following:

1. Kevin's experience of being told by a doctor that he would never walk, and how that impacted him

2. The importance of mentors and role models in Kevin's life

3. The We Are Able project, which aimed to promote employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities

Michelle Connery-Burnout Recovery Coach + Certified Women's Coaching Specialist

Burnout makes EVERYTHING feel hard.

It robs you of your confidence, your joy, and your purpose.

Burnout sucks the life out of you and leaves an empty shell of your former self.

It leaves you lost in the pit of despair, feeling angry, resentful, and cynical.  Thinking to yourself, what’s the point nothing will change.

Learning the importance of Iodine and why it's a huge secret!

Season 2 Episode 7--Annette Presley is a registered dietitian of over 28 years, certified functional nutritionist, author, and creator of the Mommy Maker Method. After discovering that the diet advice she'd learned as a dietitian was contributing to chronic diseases, Annette changed course to learn about functional nutrition and nutrigenomics (how nutrition impacts genetic expression). Now Annette helps women literally manipulate their genes, so they can say goodbye to infertility struggles and hello to being a mom! My goal is to make this world a better place for children and that starts with getting women healthy before pregnancy so they can deliver healthy babies. We can totally reverse the trend of autism, allergies, ADHD and asthma in children.  You can contact her via email: annette@getpregnantplan.com. Brent Dowlen, 'The Fallible Man'

Brent Dowlen, 'The Fallible Man'

Season 2, Episode 5: My name is Brent and I am the Host of The Fallible Man Podcast and a YouTuber. I have taught and lead my whole life.

I am a preacher's kid and a former youth minister who has dedicated a large portion of his life to working with teens in some capacity.

Over the years I have seen a growing need for positive male role models as the idea of masculinity and the value of men has been skewed.

I started The Fallible Man because my wife and I have seen the need to affect men in a positive way. To encourage them and support them in their own personal journey's  to become the men the can be. I started it for my daughter's and my nieces to help men to grow to be someone worthy of them one day.

I have spoken to small groups and large audiences over the years as well as writing blogs, bulletins, copy and educational documentation.

I have been married for 20 years and have 2 young daughters who are at the root of all I do.

I want to encourage, inspire, empower, support and motivate men to take charge of their life by choosing to improve themselves for themselves. I don't think there is something wrong with them, we can all be better, I think men are just not supported to do so.  https://www.thefallibleman.com/

"You Can't Eat Love" by Leslie Davis

"You Can't Eat Love" by Leslie Davis

Season 2 Episode 2

Join us today as Leslie and I talk about her incredible transformation and new book, "You Can't Eat Love: How Learning to Love Yourself Can Change Your Relationship with Food".

About Leslie

Several years ago, I began a journey to get healthy - mentally, emotionally, and physically. Through that journey I learned a lot about myself, why I had the beliefs I had and why, just like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, I already had the way to get back home.
It was by doing the hard of work of doing the hard work and healing the parts of me that were wounded in childhood and later years that I was able to not only lose, but keep off almost 100lbs.

It was and still is a journey. What I share is people are not broken, there is nothing wrong with them. What I share is the big secret I discovered - I had a 'myself-sized' hole in my heart and I was filling it with my drug of choice - food.

My book "You Can't Eat Love: How Learning to Love Yourself Can Change Your Relationship with Food" (#1 best seller on Amazon and consistently in the top 20 in at least 2 categories since it was published in January 2021) is about the lessons I learned.

My message - 'You are enough' - applies to anyone who is struggling to love themselves. What I help people understand is we are all on a journey. And just like when you travel by car, we run into traffic jams. I help people to realize and discover how, just like on the actual road, they can stay in their car, not park it and not walk home.

I help them discover they are enough.

Season 2   Episode 1 -About Saroya From the age of 5, I've experienced trauma, abuse of all kinds, and many   trails and tribulations. I survived multiple suicide attempts, and live to tell my story of being a fighter, and how my faith has been challenged and grown throughout my whole life I want to be the one to show people in and outside of the Christian Faith   that you can and will make it through and to use my life as an example. Now in my life, I am an advocate for Mental Health/Illness awareness in the Christian space because the stigma that still exists needs to go away. I hope to be able to aide in bridging the gap between the world of Mental Health/Illness and Christianity. We had a wonderful conversation discussing her faith and living with mental health. You will not want to miss hearing this episode.
