The last big name to sign with a manufacturer finally released the big news and it might be the biggest of the off-season. Catrina Allen is headed to DGA. The company that was founded by Steady Ed Headrick now has the 2x and reigning World Champion on their roster. Along with this news DGA is also releasing a brand new mold just for Catrina.  In other news OTB Open is inching near and things are getting more and more solidified. Disc golf is in an amazing place right now with player movement keeping the top of the sport interesting, the influx of new players, and tons more companies & courses popping up all over the place. The two biggest moves to happen in the last week are Chris Dickerson to Discraft and Hailey King from Innova. Hailey King is young, accomplished, and has that best of all time potential. This is a huge haul for a company that had been hit hard by departures from their team. Chris Dickerson is as clutch(😉) as they come, the 2020 USDGC winner is always in contention at majors. He is a huge boost to Discraft's MPO side. Both these moves will be interesting from a business standpoint of how do they market these players to make the contracts worth it for everyone involved.  Oh, also Dogs deserve forehead kisses. We are off to a great start in our revamped effort to podcast more regularly in 2022. The Winthrop Arena course is a course that has a history of rattling players and cementing others legacies. This year Missy Gannon shook off the pressure to win this prestigious event. It is not often you get to sit down with a legend of the sport and talk frisbee, but we had the pleasure of getting on the mics with the great Juliana Korver. The 5x PDGA World Champion is one of the most accomplished frisbee athletes of all time and is firmly in the GOAT conversation. On top of being excellent at discs, she is one of the nicest and most interesting people in the sport. Join us as we explore her frisbee career and how she got to where she is in the sport.

Well, well, well. We are back at it again just in time for those winter months that are approaching. Our studio isn't fully completed but we hopped in there anyways to give you a short little update on what is going on in our lives. We had Kyle, Sammy, and Aaron on and will be having a rotating cast of humans on for now on. We have 9(!!!!) total employees now so we can get a nice rotation of characters on. Beverly Place has been our home for the last 2 years and it really became our home. It was the birthplace to all of our ideas both good and bad, it is where we started this little project that we call Jammin' With The Best. Beverly Place was home of the Beverly Sessions, OTB Discs, Stage Monkeys, and a whole lot of love and friendships. We are both saddened to leave this amazing building in such an amazing location. Good news is that we are not moving far, less than a mile away and we have a bigger just as comfortable location. We will be building out a podcast studio and will start pumping out these podcasts once again. Thanks to everyone that has supported us and made all of this possible. We had a marathon of a podcast session and knocked out a DGP pre show, a DGP episode, and a Jammin' With The Best episode all in one night. Joe and Robin are the hosts of the Disc Golf Podcast and it is one of the biggest disc golf podcasts there is. They have a vibe that is very similar to our own, beer, disc golf, and some shit talking. We had a blast being on their podcast and hosting them on ours! In the future we will do this again but with everyone under one roof. This is a fun episode that kinda veers all over the place. Steve Ganz has been a close friend of the Windjammers for a long time, he is now with the PDGA and doesn't live in NorCal now, so we decided to have him join us on our podcast. He has done a ton for disc golf especially with his contributions to the PDGA website. This conversation was recorded before the Paige Pierce and Nate Perkins podcast came out and we got some things wrong regarding the cancellation of World's, so we were not able to address all the parts that we got wrong. We will be having Steve Hill on soon to clarify some things regarding World's and why it was cancelled. We really enjoyed this conversation with Steve and it is a fun listen. Jeff Spring has recently taken the reigns of the Disc Golf Pro Tour and we are super stoked at what he has brought to the table so far. As huge fans of sports here at the shop, we definitely dabble in some sports betting. When Matt Winter hit us up on Twitter and suggested we talk to Dustin Gouker, we instantly were in. As a company we feel Social Media is one of the best and biggest ways to make a name for ourselves in today's current climate. We had the man, the myth, the legend Tyler Brickley on with us over Zoom. We have video footage but to be honest the quality of our camera is trash and we are working on it. Tyler is the hilarious face of Disc Golf Comedy and is killing it with his work both there and with DGA. Tyler's claim to fame was sporting an Australian accent while covering some Central Coast footage. He has propelled that into a career in the sport and is making the most of it. OTB and Tyler started talking originally when the elusive Buffalo Fish was first mentioned on the platform we call Twitter. We recorded this podcast about a week ago and with all the craziness going on we weren't able to get it out. Now our conversations would be much different, but as of a week ago these were our thoughts. Krash has been on the more optimistic side of this conversation since we began having it back in January when we first started hearing about it. Double A has been more pessimistic than most and that is really covered here in this podcast in the conversations between Krash and Aaron. Danny and Sam fall somewhere in-between. Now we all see how serious this really is, all of us consider COVID-19 to be a very serious threat to the country and world. With all PDGA events suspended and all of our weeklies suspended, the disc golf world is feeling the affects of the pandemic now. We have hope we can all pull through this and that we will become better people in the long run. Scott Stokely joins us over the phone and gives us a wonderful backstory on his disc golf career and how his book is going. The boys took the mics over to Highwater Brewing to have some beers, play some trivia and talk to Steve and Barri about beer. The craft beer scene has been booming all over America and Highwater Brewing has strong footing in the local beer scene. They are known for some of the most unique and interesting beers around. Jeremy Farnsworth aka jdaddyfarns can throw a country mile and is now our new disc tester. He is super passionate and really close to everyone at the OTB shop. The guys get back together after the shenanigans that is the Disaster. The camping based tournament was a success and we were gearing up for a doubles tournament the weekend after. Aaron and Danny decide to drive down to LA on the Monday after the Wintertime Open to try and beat Paul McBeth on the Wintertime layout. 18-year old phenom Hailey King was in town for a bit and we had the pleasure of playing a round with her and having her on the podcast. Speaking of events our goal is to bring large PDGA events to our area and part of that plan is to build some world class disc golf courses in our region, along with a warehouse full of frisbees. Computer problems happen, but when they happen in the middle of a podcast and you lose 45 minutes of recording, it really sucks. It was still a fun day with some good conversations. It was Sammy Sand Belly's first day in the shop and we had him dive in head first!! Sammy is a good friend of DC's and has lived in Florida for the past couple of years. We are happy to have him in the shop and to continue to grow the podcast, OTB, the Windjammers, and disc golf in a positive direction. A disc golf world champion and winner of 100+ sanctioned and unsanctioned disc golf events. We had some great tangents that took us to the land of Dinosaurs, how Xfinity should treat customers, and Gunsmoke. He also jumped on more serious topics, like a great mental tip while you putt. Well this episode is quite an episode. Mark from Stage Monkey's joins us and adds the topic of the year so far....butt chugging some Vitamin D. Yes you heard that right. We talk about disc golf a little bit, but it is mostly a butt chugging episode. We were pretty obsessed with the hind quarters this day and got onto a topic of bidets and butt chugging. Paige Pierce joins Team Discraft and is launching her own series of discs. OTB has a crazy Black Friday sale(more of a 9 straight days thing.) As per usual this was a very silly episode. The band is back together again and this time DC takes a deep dive into the Innova Eagle. The first disc ever made, now it is drastically different than the original mold and is making a comeback thanks to players like Gregg Barsby and Calvin hamburg. Disc golf has a unique history and this episode brings some valuable information on one of the best discs in the world, just with some Windjammer shenanigans thrown in. Paige Pierce leaves Dynamic Discs and the guys speculate where she might go (Paige ends up signing with Discraft after this recording). There are plenty of wild things that happen on this episode and we had a lot of fun from "orly" on in the episode all the way through. Shout out to Sarge's Beard Balms for giving Danny the best beard in all of disc golf. 

It is fitting that in a podcast we dedicated to finding ways to improve that we had a bunch of technical difficulties early on. With Krash out of the office we dive into how we feel we can make the podcast better and we eventually go off into our normal tangents and end up far from our original point, but we learned a lot and we have some ideas on how to make the podcast, the club, and the shop better for the future. Our good buddies Austin Hoop and Alex Lyon will have a YouTube channel one day because they are hilarious and would be great. One of the points we dive into in this episode is collectibles and why disc golf has the collectors market it does. Aaron mentions the Honus Wagner baseball card but incorrectly calls it a T-9 when it is really a T-206. We had a lot of fun even though it was a different pace without Crash. This is a special bonus episode from the Friday before our NorCal Team Invitational, we were joined by OTB team members Bayli Miller and Kelley Snyder, and later Jessie Long. We are in the process of convincing these girls to start their own podcast and this is the first step in it. They are some of the best humans we know in disc golf and they have a lot of great ideas to push the sport forward. It was a great time and a lot of fun was had. There were a couple of giveaways on our show and two lucky humans made out with some dope discs!!!! Kelley and Bayli are future stars on the mics and we are excited to get them started and to hear more from them in the future. We had a lot of frisbee throwers in the building this weekend so there is a bit of background noise and we finished without a true ending, but thought we should get this out anyways. The Champ is now with Innova and he talked about his transition from DGA to Innova and what it meant for him and what plans he has in the future. Jon has a passion for helping people and he has some great ideas in his mind for what he can do in the future. Stay tuned for some big plans from Jon in the future. The World Champion got to tour all over the US this year after bouncing back from an Achilles injury. He slayed the MP50 division all year and took home lots of trophies and cash. The Champ is now with Innova and he talked about his transition from DGA to Innova and what it meant for him and what plans he has in the future. Jon has a passion for helping people and he has some great ideas in his mind for what he can do in the future. Stay tuned for some big plans from Jon in the future. The World Champion got to tour all over the US this year after bouncing back from an Achilles injury. He slayed the MP50 division all year and took home lots of trophies and cash. USDGC was on the TV live during round 3 and we couldn't take our eyes off the screen, so there is very little format, just a bunch of people hangin out and talking. Be prepared for lots of USDGC talk without context(oops!!! lol) Double A tells the story of how he got the steins and when he visited the Udder Place. We talk how awesome the course is and if Aaron and Danny would have beat Paul at Winthrop had they been playing doubles against him. Aaron makes a terrible call about Nikko saying he wouldn't play well right before he hit a sick Albatross!!! Shout out to Nikko for playing well. Double A also lies saying he'd get the podcast out that night and it took him longer than a whole weekend(he's fired!!!) Krash takes off halfway through and we dive even further into the course and which discs have been released. The mood went from hectic to laid back once Krash left. This is the last segment from our Live podcast at SFO. This was late in the night, everyone was a little drunk and we somehow convinced 2018 World Champion Gregg Barsby and Matt Bell! Both these guys are awesome and local Nor Cal guys. This was a great conversation about life on the road and how disc golf is advancing as a sport. We are back and this time we each bring something to the table! Krash brings his kids and some talk about the local bagger. How do you go about dealing with a bagger at your local course? We know how we do it. We talk shit! If you can't handle the shit talk then bump! Double A fawns after the Music City Open and their 13,496 ft layout! We want more Par 72 courses and courses that implement placement golf and par 4's and par 5's. This will create new opportunities for pros to showcase their skills and for a ton of creativity in both course design and in shot shaping. Danny wraps it up with probably the most intriguing subject with brand loyalty. Brand loyalty is a really weird thing and disc golf has a ton of it. Is it players looking for sponsorships? Or just players that really love the feel of a certain disc or plastic. We took a little hiatus and now we are back! We get into the swing of things and start off slow, but the disc talking and shit talking gets going towards the middle. Paul seems to be adjusting well to his switch to Discraft, so we get in to whether or not Ricky's switch is going just as well. Krash is about to go on a two week hiatus up to Quincy, California for the High Sierra Music Festival, so we thought we would sqeak one more podcast in before he leaves. This year for the first time ever disc golf had a major sponsorship from the Cannabis industry. Sean Jack, Tournament Director for the San Francisco Open, got together with Absolute Xtracts for a sponsorship agreement. The SFO had plenty of representation from ABX, you could see their logo all over, with tons of reps. We got to meet brand manager James Rowan and had one of the most entertaining segments of the evening. James coming from a comedic background killed it on the mic and we got a ton of good conversations regarding disc golf and cannabis. The relation between cannabis and society is continuing to grow and improve. This move helps both disc golf and cannabis feel more legit than ever. The event had an energy to it and you could hear the chatter about ABX just walking around the premises. With both industries on the rise, there could be a great pairing for years to come. SFO course designer and Whirlwind Disc Golf owner Leonard Muise joins us at the San Francisco Open. Leonard has designed one of the best courses in California in Gleneagles. It is a really top tier course designed for the pros. It challenges every aspect of your game and the pros really seem to appreciate it. Leonard has a mind for course design and really breaks down how every player will shoot and the scoring averages for each hole before the holes are even played. We got into how to make your body more adaptable and why disc golfers should train and warm up all year round, along with why disc golf athletes should put themselves on a throw count and build into their offseason throwing work. The Jammin With The Best Crew went live at SFO on Saturday after the round, our first guest was 4x World Champion Paige Pierce. She came on and chatted a bit about her discs and her sponsors. It was exciting to hear that Paige has her signature on all of the Deputy's sold by Dynamic. She finished 2nd this weekend and Eagled hole 10!! It was great to meet her and talk shop for a while. We had a bit of excitement just off the mic as we thought Anthony Barela had just won 20,000 dollars. He hit a 550+ foot ace but it was during the qualifying round, nevertheless it was a great time. Krash is back in the shop after a week in New Orleans for Jazz fest. We get things going with new releases and all the other shenanigans going on in the shop. DC talks Instinct, Pig and Unicorns and Narwhals. The Unicorn and Narwhals are in reference to our new stamps on MVP/Axiom/Streamline discs. They are OTB customs with three foil designs that look sweet and will release 5/13 at 2pm PST. Then we hit SFO Double A and DC will be playing in the tournament and we talk course changes and just what the event will be like. Also we will be doing a live(hopefully) podcast from SFO on Saturday after the round with some special guests. The Discmania Instinct's came into the office and we feel them up a little and pass the results on to you. Danny also tore the field up this week in the CVS Finals here in Stockton. He jammed on the wind and destroyed Johnny 5x, if Johnny would have finished the round that is. Also, Eagle McMahon knocked off the 12x champ to head to the finals and face off against Paul McBeth.
