Business Besties
By Jennifer Edwards
Divine appointments and the hand of God. Getting quiet so that the still small voice is the loudest voice. Moving forward with God and reeling it back because taking off without God never seems to work out. The hard stuff, the celebrations and everything in between. We talk about all things Christian Business Owner related.

Jennifer Edwards is the owner of Direction, LLC, is a Fractional CFO & Strategist. She helps overwhelmed and successful business owners find the quick answers they need in their numbers. With her help, owners confidently make business decisions based on facts and figures rather than overwhelm, reaction and emotion.
She opened her business in 2017. The business services she provides are with a singular goal, to help people...help people. She believes no matter which services fit best for a client's business, they all serve to shorten the very expensive learning curve and help with the fact that 'it's lonely at the top'. As business owners, we all need a place to go where we are understood and feel like we belong. Oh, and it never hurts to be involved in something which helps you make more profit.
Jennifer holds a BA in Organizational Communication from The University of Tulsa and has 25+ years of entrepreneurship. She has been married to Ron (a different Ron than Edie’s Ron, LOL) for 35 years. They fall into a tiny segment of the population who never had children and currently don’t even have any fur babies. They travel every chance they get and spend as much time with family and friends as humanly possible.

Edie talks about how she has identified how a weakness she had, has become her strength and doesn’t allow it to be a distraction any more.
Jennifer talks about the distraction of making lies look like truth. The enemy finds ways for the lies to take root and she has asked God to uproot them forever…and He has and continues to uproot them.

Stay Joyful & Curious in the Mystery of God's Plan, Part 2
Stay Joyful and Curious in the Mystery in God’s Plan. Part 2
Review: Part 1 was about how we know/define what God’s plan is for our lives.
Part 2 covers the next part to this journey, the characteristics you develop in yourself as you walk out the mystery.
We had a podcast on ‘surrender’ and is an important part of this process but since we already recorded that podcast, we’ll link it here.
Edie describes why trust is one of the base characteristics of staying joyful and curious. Sometimes, our distrust is taught to us for reasons we know nothing about.
Jennifer describes why peace is a characteristic of being in the mystery without chaos and pushing within our own energy.
Edie is the Owner of Stonebrook Day Spa and the Founder/Executive Director of The Stonebrook Project.

Surrender Moments
Surrender Moments
Thank you for listening.
In this episode, you will hear Edie and Jennifer discuss moments of complete surrender to God. Their stories are very different but significant.
When we finally get to a point that we can’t do it in our own power, we will often throw our hands in the air and give it to God to which His response is often….’well, it’s about time.’
I think you’ll really enjoy these stories.
We’d love to hear your surrender moment. Please tell us the story by following this link: voice message…..

How Did I Get Here?
How Did I Get Here?
How Did I Get Here?
In this episode, Jennifer and Edie have a conversation about our journeys. What happened in our earlier lives which made us who we are and put us in the space we currently reside.
There are definite occurrences in our lives which make us who we are. Edie is in a reflective place in her life because she’s writing a book and has had to dive into the poignant parts of her life which has brought her to where she is today.
Jennifer tells several stories which were significant in her life where God was all over the situations. She discusses how she was able to complete her degree from a private university as a gift from God.
In this episode, listen for the questions being asked and see if you can answer them and connect the dots in your life where God played a part. What story can you tell us where you know… that you know …that you know… that you know….. you wouldn’t be where you are today had it not been for the hand of God showing you and orchestrating a path.
Please tell us the story by following this link: voice message…..

Walk It Out
Walk It Out
If you’re an entrepreneur, you have had one of those days when you think, “I’m just gonna go get me a ‘REAL JOB’, pay off my debt and be done!”
When you have a business bestie, upon hearing this statement, they may respond with a prayer over you and then follow up with rapid fire humorous gifs.
This happened in in our relationship. Listen to this episode to hear Edie tell a hilarious recounting of this situation that recently occurred with us.
Sometimes, only another business owner can possibly understand what you’re going through. This was one of those times.
With the hardest of seasons, paralysis can set in and prevent us from making any moves. Leaning in to God and conversations with Him will bring the peace you’re chasing.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Brighton has designed a bracelet.
We have been selected to receive $10 from each bracelet that is purchased.
If you would like to purchase a bracelet, please call (405) 879-1778. They will take your order over the phone and ship to you directly.
Thanks for supporting The Stonebrook Project, breast cancer awareness and Brighton.

The Business Bestie's Book Review: Grace Over Grind
Has a book every changed the way you do something? We believe that once you hear about the book Grace Over Grind, you will order it, read it and then understand why we recommend it to every business owner. Our 'hustle' culture has fed us this lie about what it takes to do business. What they don't know and Shae Bynes does, is that when we work in partnership WITH God, there is no hustle. To hustle means we are leaving God out of the equation. Listen in to understand more about this book. When you read it, we'd love to hear your thoughts.

She has been married to Ron (a different Ron than Edie’s Ron, LOL) for 33 years. They fall into a tiny segment of the population who never had children and currently don’t even have any fur babies. They travel every chance they get and spend as much time with family and friends as humanly possible.

Journaling
Journaling
Do you journal? If so, why? If not, why not?
Edie and Jennifer both journal as a means of processing thoughts, goals, feelings and reflecting. They use it to bring liberty and freedom. We believe in and encourage journaling. Yes, it's personal but it's also a great resource for entrepreneurs to go back and see where the hand of God moved on their behalf. Listen in as they discuss:
How often they journal.
How long they've been journaling.
How many different journals do they use.
Prayer journals.(From the book: Draw the circle by Mark Batterson)
Celebration journals
Reviewing journals and how each of them do it and why.
Why it is so helpful, important and relevant for entrepreneurs to journal.
Writing as opposed to typing on computer
What are we going to do with them?
Medical journals

Jennifer Introduces Edie
Jennifer Introduces Edie
Thank you for listening today.
As a follow up to our previous episode where co-host Edie Tolbert introduced her Business Bestie Jennifer Edwards, we continue introductions. In this episode, Jennifer introduces Edie. You will learn about how and why Edie made the decision to open a spa and how to she arrived at the choice to also be the founder of a non-profit organization. Her story is remarkable. There is so much information in here whether you are a cancer survivor, currently undergoing treatment or are a business owner. Edie covers so much territory in this episode, you're going to want to get out a pen and paper to take notes. There are so many gold nuggets of wisdom in her words and experience.
Edie Tolbert and Jennifer Edwards are Business Besties. This podcast is dedicated to all things business owners.
Co-host Edie Tolbert is both a business owner and the founder of a non-profit with the goal of making a difference until there's a cure (for cancer). She opened Stonebrook Day Spa with a vision to provide professional spa services to the general public and for the proceeds from those services to provide free oncology massage and other services to those experiencing cancer treatment. Because the need was greater than the funding, she also founded The Stonebrook Project - a non-profit organization designed to support the free services she is providing at the spa. If you missed it, go to episode 2 and listen to Edie talk about her cancer journey, the crazy idea to open the spa and how intently she listens and responds to the voice of the Holy Spirit.
More about your co-hosts......
Co-host Jennifer Edwards has been an entrepreneur for 25 years. Her experience led her to open a coaching & consulting firm in 2017. She named her company Direction, LLC. Since the beginning, her heart has been for female Christian business owners. Her business has evolved and she now not only offers one-to-one coaching/consulting, but also biblically based vision sessions and Mastermind groups. If you didn't hear Edie's introduction of Jennifer, go to episode 1 where you learn a lot about her and hear from her own perspective why she pours into business owners.
