Hi! I'm Joe, the former host and DM of the first ever Pathfinder 2E actual play podcast. On this show, I share my thoughts on RPG's, life, and whatever else happens to cross my mind. I mostly stick to role playing games though... I promise.

435: Ain't Nothing but a Sausage Party

You asked for it, so here it is! Ok, so you didn't ask for it, but here it is anyways....

It's time for another world-wide sausage party! You'll hear callers from England, Texas, New Zealand, Virginia, England again, and we'll finish up with some South Korean sausage talk. There's also tons of copyrighted stuff in here, so listen while you can!

332: Do Conans Dream of Hungry Sheep?

Somehow, a couple of my episodes got unpublished, and I'm trying to fix that. This episode originally dropped almost exactly one year ago to the day! There's no need to listen to it again if you've already heard it, but I didn't want these calls to just sit in the void forever.

Can you tell what we're talking about today? That's right, Daniel of Bandit's Keep and Joe Salvador break down Conan better than I ever could, Spencer shares a spooky dream, Joe gives us some advice on fasting, Jason busts my chops about Twitter, and someone with great insight, I won't say who here, analyzes my weird dream. It's a totally rad episode!

415: I Don't Want to be Charmed, I Want You to DOMINATE Me

Today, because I'm an idiot, we're going to talk about the difference between being Charmed and being Dominated. We're also going to discuss the difference between player intent and character intent. Are they the same thing? Can we know the intent of a character by the actions of the player? To help me parse these weighty subjects, I've gathered some really smart folks together. We'll hear from the Pink Phantom, Karl, Jason, and the player controlling the character at the center of all this, my good friend, Woody. This one is pretty rad, folks!

We have a very special treat today, boys and girls. Joining us today are two esteemed speakers from the GDC&PS ... or are they? Are there shenanigans afoot? Is everyone who they purport themselves to be? What will Brigadier General Chumley Bottomley Flapps (rtd.) have to say about the complaint filed by Donald Davey Scott and the claim that Donald makes? That's right folks, a real life Brigadier General took time out of his day to give me a call. We're also going to talk Halloween, sword & sorcery, and cyberpunk with our buddy, Jason. This one's a real banger!

Just like the Warriors will be doing this summer, we're going back to back... stories! The NBA season is once again upon us, and things are looking good. 399: Do Dragons Dream of Cyberpunk Sheep?

399: Do Dragons Dream of Cyberpunk Sheep?

I kick off the episode by discussing why the argument of "backstories are lame because someone will show up with a first level character that killed a dragon, and that's just silly" isn't a good argument. Then we get into some calls from Kevin on what to call Jason, from Jason on running games without reading them, and a long call from Karl about Cyberpunk 2020 vs. Cyberpunk Red vs. Shadowrun. I'm lucky enough to be able to end another episode with a fantastic reading about sleeping dragons, though this time not from Safer. No, this time we have Goblin's Henchman on the mic reading an excerpt from a book that sounds super rad! Sound good? I think so!

388: Should I or Shouldn't I?

Recently, I drunkenly asked you if I should interview my non-gamer buddy about why he didn't get into RPG's, and a few of you very kindly respond! Kevin, Spencer, and Jason weigh on the subject, and we'll also talk a bit about music. No RPG-content found here, folks. If that's what you're looking for, you may want to skip this one. 386: Wrathful Recap

The bulk of today's episode is dedicated to the latest recap of the Wrath of the Righteous campaign I've been running for the past six months. I also figured out how to play the messages that I upload from Discord, so you'll get to hear what Jason had to say in my last episode, in his own words! Plus, Kevin has a super simple mnemonic to help us remember my new Google voice number. That number, once more, is 661-494-6656, but once you hear Kevin's mnemonic you won't ever need to me remind you again. If you're in the U.S. go ahead and leave me a message. Otherwise, shoot me a voice message on Discord. Enjoy! There’s also a super awesome secret super special bit at the very end so be sure to stay tuned for that!

384: The Last batch

This is a collection of what could turn out to be the last messages I ever receive via the now outlawed Anchor app. "They" don't want us to be communicating, because there is strength in numbers. "They" fear us, and fear us they should, for we are legion.

Today, this legion is made up of Runeslinger, Safer, Spencer, and Jason. Anchorites, for the last time, ASSEMBLE!!!

369: RPG-A-Day #17: Nerd Logic

Today I'm talking about my favorite time period in which to run RPG's. Thanks to some awesome calls from Jason and Kevin, I break down why my discussion of a red dragon beating the shit out of a shogoth is relevant to the question of if a group of Call of Cthulhu investigators could defeat a shogoth. Time to brush off what I learned in my Logic & Philosophy uni classes. Let's get logical!

I also talk about what would make my perfect game. After all of that, I leave you with a brilliant dramatic reading from a mysterious caller. Who could it be?

367: RPG-A-Day #15: The One I Want

367: RPG-A-Day #15: The One I Want

I think the only bad part of RPG-A-Day month is having to write show notes everyday. I never read show notes, which makes me think that nobody reads show notes, and that's a big ol' stupid fallacy if ever there was one.

Today I'm talking about how I'd like to run a game for me, and taking some calls from Karl and Jason. It's cool! I said how I’d like to run a game for me but what I meant to say was who I’d like to run a game for me. See, I hate show notes ha ha ha ha ha ha

366: RPG-A-Day #14: Tag, You're It!

In this episode I give a 100% spoiler free review of the new Sandman series on Netflix, field some calls from Jason, and ask four of my good friends; Anthony of Casting Shadows, Spencer of Keep Off the Borderlands, Colin of Spike Pit, and Jason of Nerd's RPG Variety Cast to explain why, given the proper group, a certain, cheeky little RPG would be awesome to play. A super fun episode!

365: RPG-A-Day #13: Don't Go Changing

Taylor and I talk about how 2E needs to change, Colin and Jason do a fantastic job of explaining why the use of Hearts in ICRPG is more than change for change's sake, and I talk about what I'd change about my introduction to RPG's. I also give a review of Magic Spoon, a new breakfast cereal company that I recently tried.. A ton of RPG talk and a product review? This episode is definitely worth the price!

351: Scientists are F@$&ing Lame

Don't get mad at me. I'm not the one who says it. It's one of those guys down there, and probably not the one you suspect. Whichever one of them says it though, does so with such style and panache that it's easily one of the best things I've heard in awhile! Beside that, we'll talk about house hunting, human hunting animals, character creation, and partying solo.

A massive thank you for all the inspiration for this episode goes out to Anthony, Jason, and Karl. Thanks, dudes!

350: A Wee Bit o' Joe... or Boo to the Build!

Joe, Spencer, Menion, Pink Phantom and Jason were all kind enough to answer my question about why people might not like building churches. That, and a very, very special unboxing make this one super cool episode!

Nobody mentions churches in this episode, but that autocorrect made me chuckle, So I kept it.

347: Random RPG Ramblings and Chaotic Calls

Chaotic in the sense that I didn't know which call was coming next. I put this episode together without checking to see the order of the messages, and it lead to some pretty rad convergences! Big thanks to Taylor, Spencer, Mr. Henchman, Spike Pit, Jason, and Puck. That's right, folks! Puck is back and he's got a song in his heart!

I also share some of my recent RPG thoughts that made me realize what a weirdo I am, even in a hobby rife with weirdos!

346: It's D&D, Not M&M,Duh!

Time for me to reap the whirlwind. Have minis always been a part of the game? Is theater of the mind more OG than maps and minis? Do VTT's really do a better job at simulating the old school feel? In short, no, but let's find out why! Amazingly educational calls from Spencer, Karl, Jason, and Anthony! That's a rock solid line up if ever there was one!

I recently went to a live reading of one of the world's greatest pieces of literature and I want to share that experience with you, my dear listeners. Then, Barney's back and he's talking Conan, and the ills of narratives. Lastly, we have three callers discussing the new Tolkien book, Fall of Numenor. Jason, Spike Pit, and Rob aka Menion answered my request for folks to share their thoughts about this new Middle Earth tome, and these three handsome devils did just that. This one is a real banger!

339: The Return of the Tolkien?

I know, I know. Enough already, right? But there was a big announcement in the world of J.R.R. Tolkien and I want to talk about it and see what y'all think. That's not really much of a show, so I added some rad calls from Jason about Big Trouble in Little China and character growth, as well as a message from Goblin's Henchman where he recounts his super spooky nightmare.

338: Ring Mail Wearing Arcane Ravens Put on a Variety Cast

338: Ring Mail Wearing Arcane Ravens Put on a Variety Cast

I’m imagining the scene that the title describes and it’s making me very happy right now.. A murder of armor clad crows throwing a rad party? Yeah, that rules!

Ok, but today we're talking more about ancient civilizations, and I mean a lot more. Taylor, of Clerics Wear Ring Mail, Joe of Raven God Games, Jason of Nerd's RPG Variety Cast, and B.J. of the Arcane Alienist podcast all have some seriously insightful, intelligent, thought-provoking responses to what I and the other callers have been talking about in my two previous episodes. This is a long one, for sure, but I think it's totally worth it. Smart people saying smart things and being interrupted by yours truly. What more could you ask for?

337: Conan in the Sands of Time

337: Conan in the Sands of Time

Rob, aka Menion, starts us off with his thoughts on Conan, and the futility of trying to sum up humanity in a single story. That leads us perfectly into some very interesting discussions on human-kind's forgotten past, ancient Egypt, humanities ancestors, and much more. Karl, Joe, aka the Raven God, Jason, and Anthony, aka Runeslinger, each have super cool thoughts on those fascinating subjects, and I want to share their thoughts with you!

335: Sweet Dreams Are Made of This

To sleep, perchance to dream. We're diving back into my psyche with the completion of my dream analysis by the fantastic Julz from NZ. You heard the first part of her break down of my dream a few episodes back, and Julz is here again to finish the job, but her's isn't the only possible interpretation out there. What dreams may come? Sit back and let Mr.Henchman weave you a tale of witches, beans, and new houses. It's going to blow your mind!

BREAKING NEWS!!!!

Jason is alive and fired up about AI. His messages came in right as I was putting this episode together and there was no way I could wait on answering them. Strap in for this conversation because it's a doozy!

334: Wrath of the Recap

My deepest and most humble apologies to all of you, but especially to Jason, for misnumbering my last episode. This episode has the correct number and I will try to never let such an egregious mistake happen again.

You like recaps? I got recaps. Truthfully, I only have one recap, but it's what I got! My most recent session running the epic Pathfinder 1e adventure path, Wrath of the Righteous, kicked ass and I want to talk about why. Sit back and enjoy a tale of cultists, sneaky wizards, and bad boss play. It's time for a new episode of Hindsightless!

231: Fasting Times at Nightmare High

It's been a minute, but I'm back! I'm joined today by some fantastic folks that want to talk about dreams and fasting. I also report on the latest session of my Wrath of the Righteous campaign, and how strange it is that some people think Conan is a static, unchanging character.

Besides me, on this episode you'll hear from Jason, Karl, Runeslinger and Spike Pit. A truly fearsome foursome, if ever there was one. Check it out!

Today we're covering Icelandic werewolves, free RPG supplements, Sigil & Shadow, and Boba Fett being the most skilled bounty hunter in the galaxy. 225: Home Sweet Home

I finally made it to my mom's house! I received lots of lovely calls from folks wishing me well on my hectic journey, and I'll play a few of those today. Everything is a pattern. There are no such things as coincidences. Outer space is a lie! Today, we're connecting the dots on the entire vampire-werewolf conspiracy. The Arcane Alienist has his string map out, Jason picks up the thread, and Karl ties it all up in a nice bow. This one is the jam!

321: Vamps Bite Back

321: Vamps Bite Back

Despite me saying nothing but nice things about werewolf's in all these episodes some harsh words were spoken about vampires in Pack Tactics, and that cannot stand. Jason and Julz had some thoughts on the vamp salt as well. If you like capes, and you should, this is the episode for you!!!

It's a fun episode for sure!  Gaze in wonder at this cavalcade of coolness, this avalanche of awesomeness, this lineup of absolute legends that blessed me with their voices: Spencer, Taylor, Pink Phantom, Jason, Goblin's Henchman, and Menion aka Rob
