December 20, 2023. In The Dark
In the first week of our advent series, Suzie Lind talked about light in the darkness. How do we wait, grief and hope in the midst of the darkness that remains in our own world? Tim Timmons, Mike Erre and Kevin Dixon share their own personal stories of light in darkness.
Plus: Nick The Bug Guy anoints Journey with essential oils; Suzie forgets to stack and chat; Seth Erre reveals the real meaning of Christmas; Mike goes full teppan yaki and practices his onion volcanoes; and Kevin loses his perfect attendance record for Christmas services.

November 30, 2023. Unforgiven
This week, the heart of the matter is about forgiveness. Special guest Sam Barnhart joins Suzie Lind, Kevin Dixon and Tim Timmons to reflect on Sunday's conversation about how hard it is to restore relationships.
Plus: Mike's iron immunity dome is breached because he didn't drink the mommy juice; Kevin shares TMI about his itches; Sam teaches Tim how to drain his bucket; and Suzie's wise enough not to step in it.

November 22, 2023. Se7en and the Ragged Podcast
It's a crowded house this week at Journey NOW as dear listener Brad Erre, Nate Erre and Seth Erre join regulars Kevin Dixon, Suzie Lind, Tim Timmons and Mike Erre. On Sunday, we brought our Genesis 1 in-depth series to the seventh day with a look at rest and Sabbath. Now, a listener asks how secular self-care and mental health relate to our rest in God.
Plus: "Ace" Erre wakes from his gnostic hangover to discover that love may be all he needs to know; Tim is lost in the sauce again; Kevin's sippin' from his orange drank; Suzie IS the sauce; Brad shares the golden pie ratio; Nate knows what time it is; and Seth rules the post-credits scene, Marvel style.

November 9, 2023. Image Problems
This week, we learned to place God's creation of humans into an ancient Middle Eastern context. Just as other religions had stone images of their gods, our God created us as his living image statues. So, if we're all His image bearers, how can we stop imaging Him and reflect other things? The NOW roundtable team of Kevin Dixon, Mike Erre, Suzie Lind and Tim Timmons takes on this and other listener questions.
Plus: Kevin goes to the naked river and says hello, Monty; Mike and his brother plan to hop in their a hot tub time machine with their tops down; Tim is lost in emotion as he takes on Lisa, Lisa at Pickleball; and Suzie is STILL HERE even though her immunity Iron Dome has been breached.

November 2, 2023. Heaven And Hell On Earth
Kevin Dixon and Suzie Lind reflect on a Dan Allender trauma seminar they attended this week at Journey and on the recent Sunday conversation Kevin led that looked at the Good Samaritan story from the perspective of the victim.
Plus: Fo' Twizz: Kevin gets some sugar affirmation regarding his favorite candy. And, Suzie gets ready for half a Halloween party.

October 26, 2023. Signs of the Time
This week we took a closer look at the creation of the heavenly bodies in Genesis 1. Teaching pastor Mike Erre argued that the lights in the heavens were meant as more than just giant balls of burning gas that separate day and night time. They're symbols of the spiritual beings who govern in the heavens, just as humans are later created to rule over Earth.
All of which opens up a lot of listener questions. What are these spiritual beings? What does it mean when we talk about spiritual warfare? And, how does the ability to rule align with predestination or election? The roundtable crew of Suzie Lind, Kevin Dixon and Tim Timmons join Mike to decode a few signs. (Listener questions segment begins at 16:30)
Plus: Suzie's Iron Dome of supplements fails to intercept a virus; Tim leaves Mike in another pickle; Mike uses the podcast to weed out lukewarm Christians and the Journey staff stages a care-frontation for Kevin's candy rage.

October 19, 2023. Creating, Recreating, Uncreating.
A new listener asks the Journey NOW roundtable how the method behind our Sunday conversations--digging deep to understand the Bible's meaning to its original audience--fits into the spectrum of Christian teaching. Are we trying harder, or are we just weird? Rob Gonzalez joins this week's regular team of Suzie Lind, Kevin Dixon and Mike Erre to explore this and other questions.
Plus: Kevin feels like he's walking through a horror movie set; Rob walks through a literal horror movie set; Mike's nickname comes from a comedy horror movie; and the ocean still never disappoints for Suzie.

October 12, 2023. Healthy Curiosity
This week, tragic current events in the Middle East overwhelm our thoughts. The NOW roundtable team of Suzie Lind, Mike Erre and Tim Timmons encourage a more humble and curious response from those who approach cultural and news items with theological or political certainty.
Plus: Mike and Tim are in another Sabbath pickle and Suzie's picking up "liar" body language from them.

October 4, 2023. Genesis Unbound
Can Genesis live in harmony with evolutionary theories? The Big Bang? Aliens? The Journey NOW team says that's not the question the writer of the Bible's first book is trying to answer. So, even if it turns out that our pyramids are giant batteries for extraterrestrials, that doesn't have to rock your faith. Kevin Dixon, Suzie Lind, Tim Timmons and Mike Erre discuss listener questions following our recent Sunday conversations on the Hebrew words and worldview of Genesis 1.
Plus: Tim and Suzie get a little closer to Egypt, and Egypt gets closer to them; Mike tries being a little less acidic; Kevin's temporary crown hints at the one to come; and the whole team spends 13 minutes trying to Seinfeld up a podcast about nothing. (Content starts after that timestamp).

September 28, 2023. Speaking of Genesis...
Our continuing word-for-word Genesis 1 study is challenging us to rethink what we think about the Bible's first book. A listener asks this week's panel of Mike Erre, Suzie Lind, Tim Timmons and Kevin Dixonhow we can share our learning with others without creating conflict.
Plus: Suzie gets in Mike and Tim's kitchen; Mike and Tim get pickled together; Kevin receives his crown; and special pop-in guest Lisa Larking lays down a double dill on the "viper" move.

September 21, 2023. Once Upon A Time…
In this week's Sunday gathering, we began studying the beginning of the Bible with a close look at "bereshith," the very first Hebrew word. (It roughly translates as "in beginning.") Now, Kevin Dixon, Suzie Lind, Tim Timmons and Mike Erre are answering listener questions and thinking about what it means for our faith when we grasp the original meaning of that very first word.
Plus: Mike gets berzhadied, Suzie confesses a past pushing syringes, Tim whipples up the new plant species (sphincter phytae) and Kevin is left to sweep alone.

September 14, 2023. Putting A Bow On The Center
The Journey NOW team of Kevin Dixon, Mike Erre, Tim Timmons and Suzie Lind wraps up their Centered Set church discussion with listener questions and the realization that being centered isn't a sermon series or a declaration; it's an ongoing journey for our community to learn together and keep growing closer to Jesus.
Plus: Someone's dipping Suzie's Mommy Boost; Kevin takes a KwikTrip down memory lane to reveal Captain Shutoff Valve, his superhero alter ego; Mike volunteers for the night shift and Tim goes bougie with his ride.

September 7, 2023. Calling Each Other Out
Is there a role in Centered Set churches to call out sin? And, when or how is that stepping over the line that we're not supposed to draw? Kevin Dixon, Mike Erre, Tim Timmons and Suzie Lind answer listener questions from a recent Sunday message.
Plus: Kevin picks a bad week to stop quoting movies; Tim's powder blue hat is one to grow on; Mike keeps the Barbarian at his gate; and Suzie mashes up toys and classic TV.

August 31, 2023. Off Center
As we continue to learn more about what a community centered on Jesus looks like, the Journey NOW team examines a real-world example of boundaried-vs-centered counseling. Betsy Raney, Tim Timmons and Rob Gonzalez join host Kevin Dixon for the discussion.
Plus: Rapper Big Rickey makes an appearance; Tim's freestyle game is 'S' for super and 'U' for unique; Kevin's sure Disneyworld came before Disneyland; and Betsy claims she was born in another century.

August 24, 2023. Convictions In Conflict
We're learning to center our community on Jesus. That means looking to him when we're trying to discern between loosely-held beliefs and non-negotiable convictions. What happens, though, when you see my ride-or-die conviction as just another opinion? Kevin Dixon, Mike Erre, Suzie Lind and Tim Timmons consider how we resolve the conflicts at the very center of our faith.
Plus: Suzie takes the primrose path, Mike is high on potenuse, Kevin searches for merch and Tim's got nothing but crickets.

August 17, 2023. Disputable Matters
As we continue exploring what it means to be a "centered set" church, this week's panel of Mike Erre, Kevin Dixon, Suzie Lind and Tim Timmons answer listener questions. What happens if my center and yours are different? How can we work well through our disagreements, and which elements of our faith our non-negotiable?
Plus: What three words would be on your t-shirt? And it's a rush when Mike's daughter Hannah calls from college during the podcast, even though it's all Greek to the others.

August 10, 2023. Meet Me In The Middle
The idea of "centered set" church is key to Journey's identity. On Sunday, Mike Erre explained the differences between "bounded," "fuzzy" and centered groups and why we choose to define ourselves by the Jesus who is at the core of our community instead of through rules or unrestrained tolerance.
Mystery guests Howard, Carl, Zara and Bobby Jo play their own middle game as they join Mike to think more deeply about centered sets and to answer a listener question: What happens when people define their center in different, individual ways?

August 3, 2023. With All Your Muchness
We're called to love God and others with all our strength, but do we really know what that means? On Sunday, Suzie Lind explained that the Hebrew word me'od means something much, much closer to "muchness." It's an intensifier, the idea that we bring all that we are to loving. Suzie examines what this really means with Kevin Dixon, Mike Erre and Tim Timmons.
Plus: Kevin takes a trip while Mike takes a vacation; Tim hits the skids at youth camp; and the muchness of camp is much too much for Suzie.

July 20, 2023. Soul Survival
As we continue to explore how we can love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength, this week's panel of Kevin Dixon, Suzie Lind, Tim Timmons and Kevin Dixon discuss soul. What does it look like to rest our soul, and why is that so important?
Plus: Mike Erre has gone Cali (or maybe Cinnamon Beach?) and Tim and Sam pitch a new show idea.

What does it look like to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength? The whole JourneyNOW team is back at the roundtable to discuss Suzie Lind's recent teaching on heart. Mike Erre, Kevin Dixon, Tim Timmons and Lacy the dog join Suzie to discuss.
Plus: Mike has rose hips, Tim calls a different kind of B.S., Suzie shows a face to match her heart and Kevin takes a ride on the soul train.

July 7, 2023. God And Mind
Why does it seem that faith and psychology are at odds? Do they have to be, or are there ways of integrating our relationship with God and clinical approaches to mental health? On Sunday, Kevin Dixon and psychologist Dave Verhaagen explored these questions. On this week's NOW episode, Kevin continues the conversation with Suzie Lind, as they share their own experiences with mental health and as pastors.

June 29, 2023. Everything, Everywhere, All At Once
On Sunday, we rethought the idea of "eternal life." Instead of the Old Testament idea of a messiah who ends the present age and introduces the age to come, Jesus brings his Kingdom into the midst of our messy present time. NOW roundtablers Kevin Dixon, Suzie Lind, Mike Erre and special guest Seth Erre unpack the now-and-not-yet overlap between our evil age and the coming Kingdom age.
Plus: Suzie tries to save face, Mike loses the "Most Christ-like" competition, Kevin is practically pluperfect and Seth has left the building.

June 22, 2023. The Art of The Covenant
On Sunday, Mike Erre broke out his tech drawing tools to illustrate the difference between the Earth that perishes and an eternal life temple space. We're still trying to figure out what the hair on his globe means, but the discussion yielded questions on how people live in one space but still show behavior from the other one. Grant Opperman joins regulars Mike and Kevin Dixon to dig deeper.
Plus: Mike previews his upcoming drawings of time and the multiverse , Grant shouts out Mike's brother Brad Erre in the show notes and Kevin just wishes he had gone to Honduras or California this week with the rest of the Journey crew.

June 15, 2023: Hopelessly Devoted To You
It turns out there's a difference between allegiance and personal commitment. As we learned this week, understanding the meaning of "pistis," the original Greek word for belief, makes all the difference. Rather than behavioral allegiance, it signifies active, committed loyalty to a person. So, how do we get it wrong when we say we believe in Jesus? The full NOW panel of Mike Erre, Suzie Lind, Tim Timmons and Kevin Dixon returns this week to discuss, along with special guest Seth Erre,.
Plus: Suzie gets a sponsor, Seth uses two straws, Mike tries on his cranky pants, Tim shows how to hug with your eyes and Kevin picks up what the zoo animals leave behind.

June 8, 2023. Making The Team
This week, the Journey community recounted so many stories of Jesus' invitation extending those his "insider" followers didn't want to accept. Ethiopian eunuchs, Gentiles, unlicensed demon exterminators and more. All of which spurred listeners to ask: Where's the line? Isn't there any limit to who's eligible for the Kingdom? NOW rountablers Mike Erre, Kevin Dixon and Rob Gonzales consider the logic of drawing boundaries around Christian behavior. Plus: Mike learns the Jeep Wave, Kevin check out the Costco samples in Europe and Rob O'Gonzales embraces his heritage--all while Suzie Lind is away fixing leaks with bee wax. - - Got your own question or a comment for JourneyNOW? June 1, 2023. Afraid Not?
On Sunday, Pastor Rob Gonzalez talked about fear and faith, challenging listeners to name their own fears. The responses we got were overwhelming. This week's roundtable panel—Mike Erre, Suzie Lind, Tim Timmons, Nate Erre and special guest Seth Erre—explores their own experiences and understanding of how healthy faith and fear overlap.
Plus: It's SummerTim; Seth lives his best rock 'n' roll life and Mike and Suzie compete at graduation.

This week, hosts Kevin Dixon, Dave Verhaagen, and Sam Barnhart expore questions about questioning faith? Why does rethinking, questioning and being skeptical sometimes make us feel bad? Why are some people pre-disposed to deconstruct their understanding of God, while others remain comfortable? Is it just human to doubt, and how risky is it for our mental health?

May 11, 2023. The Truth Is...
The NOW podcast needs a bigger roundtable as Kaydee Carter, Betsy Raney, Nate Erre and Tim Stafford join regulars Suzie Lind, Kevin Dixon, Tim Timmons and Mike Erre. Together, they explore how the truth is neither noun nor verb but actually a person. And, if you’re not confused enough by that idea, try living it.
Plus: Eyewitness accounts as Journey endures a swift storm, a special guest from the Red Era, Tim goes plural and Kevin yells at everyone to get off his lawn.

May 4, 2023. Love In A Battlefield
The JourneyNOW roundtable team, Mike Erre, Kevin Dixon and Suzie Lind welcome a special guest, Nate Erre, for this week's discussion. As they continue their close reading of John 3:16, the words "so loved" from Sunday's message prompted lots of questions about the difficulties of loving. In particular, what does it mean to love your enemies? What does it require of us?
Plus: We talk favorite movies and celebrity obsessions, and you'll never guess who crushes on Brad Pitt....

April 27, 2023. Three Sixteen
We began our study of one of the Bible's most famous passages, John 3:16, with a look at the words "For God." With the full roundtable panel back in studio, Mike Erre, Kevin Dixon, Suzie Lind and Tim Timmons examine some great questions from our listeners. If Jesus really is the perfect and complete imprint of God, how do we square Him with the God of the Old Testament? And, what does it mean when Jesus says "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me." (John 14:6)
Plus: Tim says "Chello;" Hilary Timmons catches Holy COVID; and Shekinah glory gets into everyone's clothes, their hair, the furniture and all over the studio.

April 20, 2023. Not Left Behind
With Mike Erre and Tim Timmons giving them the silent treatment this week, remaining NOW roundtable panelists Kevin Dixon and Suzie Lind dig deeper into the honor / shame culture behind Suzie's recent message from John 21. After Jesus's crucifixion left his disciples behind, confused and ashamed, how did their breakfast with them on the beach redefine acceptance, honesty, guilt and reconciliation? What does that look like for us?

April 13, 2023. Literally.
This week's JourneyNOW roundtable panel of Kevin Dixon, Mike Erre and Suzie Lind explore listener questions about how literally we should think about the afterlife and the Bible. What exactly does it mean to have a glorified body? Since Jesus bore the scars of his crucifixion in his resurrected body, will we have our own scars in heaven? And, what's the difference between the Bible being inerrant and being true?
Plus: Mike discovers that those eggs are a lie, Suzie offers advice from Cheech Marin and Kevin is just Miss Congeniality.

April 6, 2023. Grief, Anger and Hospitality
Last Sunday, our community looked to Jesus' models of grief and anger as we responded to the Covenant School shooting tragedy earlier in the week. This week's NOW roundtable group—Mike Erre, Kevin Dixon, Suzie Lind and special guest Seth Erre—try to balance those feelings with Journey's core value of welcoming hospitality. How do we talk honestly about issues that have been so politicized without offending?

What am I supposed to do with my life? How do I face job insecurity or illness or loss? Healthy emotions and behaviors get a lot harder when big questions arise. Fortunately, both faith and psychology give us tools to deal with life's uncertainty.
Plus: Hosts Kevin Dixon, Dave Verhaagen, and Sam Barnhart have a quirk-off.

March 23, 2023. Are We Who They Were?
We got a lot of questions about the religious leaders that Jesus condemns in Mark 12. Were all of them bad? Wasn't Jesus being a little judgmental? And who do we identify with in these stories? This week's roundtable crewmembers, Mike Erre, Tim Timmons, and Kevin Dixon, wrestle with Sunday's difficult teaching and what it all means in their own struggles.
Plus: Kevin discovers new music from a band called Maccabean Revolution; Mike admires the fresh-raked the Alabama forests; Tim shares notes from the book of Job; and Suzie stays silent as she just may be eyeing a new job.

March 10, 2023. Greater Than
The disciples still don't get it despite Jesus' repeated explanation of the Kingdom of God throughout the book of Mark. Last Sunday, we heard John and James arguing over which of them would receive the greatest place of honor next to the Messiah. That sparked numerous questions on leadership, rights, privileges and more. Mike Erre, Kevin Dixon, Suzie Lind and Tim Timmons sit down at the JourneyNOW table to explore these topics and more.
Plus: Tim gets sauced in private; Mike has no patience for Suzie's salads; and Kevin tacos go south.

March 2, 2023. Money Problems
Kevin Dixon's radical re-think of Jesus' encounters with the children and the rich man (Mark 10:13-31) led to lots of text line questions about money. What's the proper relationship for Jesus followers to have with their money? How should church organizations think about it? Kevin welcomes Mike Erre, Suzie Lind, and Tim Timmons to his JourneyNOW roundtable to account for their experiences.
Plus: Mike makes a trip to the House of Love and Suzie can't wink it away; Tim's home renovation plans are all wet; and therein lies the problem for Kevin.

February 24, 2023. Lines To Cross
One of the most common questions from last Sunday's teaching was just how far we have to go in living a cross-shaped life. What healthy boundaries should we set as we follow Jesus? That line of questioning reveals more about us than it does about Jesus' teaching, according to this week's JourneyNOW roundtable panel of Kevin Dixon, Tim Timmons, Suzie Lind and Mike Erre. They also consider questions about whether wealth and public platforms are compatible with following Jesus.
Plus: Tim's in another world, Suzie's appealing, life's a beach for Kevin and Mike's on a California roll.

February 16, 2023. Stumbling Blocks
Last Sunday, Suzie Lind asked us to consider how we create barriers and discomfort for those might otherwise be drawn towards Jesus. This week's JourneyNOW team of Mike Erre, Tim Timmons and Kevin Dixon delves deeper into that idea. They also share their hope for the Journey community as a place of radical hospitality, relationship and acceptance.

BONUS: Three Pastors Walk Into A Bar...
Recently, the Journey community gathered for its first-ever Theology Lounge event, also affectionately known as "Hell In A Bar." Thanks to a donated space by Mill Creek Brewery, more than 100 of us came together to hear Teaching Pastor Mike Erre explain the main theories about Hell: What does the Bible actually have to say? How important is the subject of Hell in the Bible, and why does it describe it in such different terms than the red-devils-with-pitchforks-and-fire image of popular culture?
After Mike's review, all--ahem--heck broke loose in a free-flowing, hour-plus Q&A session.
Before leaving for this week's staff retreat, Suzie Lind, Kevin Dixon, and Rob Gonzalez gathered around our JourneyNOW roundtable to reflect on what they learned in Journey's inaugural Theology Lounge. They shared their own views and to answered more hellishly difficult listener questions.

January 12, 2023. You're Welcome?
Journey welcomed 2023 with a unique gathering last Sunday. Instead of the typical rows of seats arranged to listen to a pastor's message, we welcomed people to tables set for breakfast and conversation. If you want to know the vision of Journey, that's it: We seek to be a community where all are welcome, hospitality is extended and we know each other deeply as we seek to know Jesus together.
On this special episode JourneyNOW host Kevin Dixon welcomes Mike Erre and Suzie Lind to talk more about Journey's vision. A listener asks how our belief that "all are welcome at the table" squares with 1 Corintians 5:11, in which Paul warns a church not to "associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister[fn] but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people."
So, which is it? Are we all welcome or not?

December 16, 2022. Beyond The Gates of The New City
As we finished our Revelation rethink this week with a picture of a renewed Heaven, listeners asked lots of questions about people left outside the gates of the new City. Kevin Dixon welcomes Suzie Lind, Tim Timmons and Mike Erre to his JourneyNOW roundtable to consider the importance of Hell, how it might look, the ways in which we show hospitality to those with different views and whether we have free will in eternity.
Also: Kevin goes dark on a candy challenge, Mike shows off his magic moves and Suzie and Tim spill the tea on this week's staff Christmas party.
