Episode 73: Mississippi State basketball bounces back with big wins
After tough losses to Kentucky at home for both the Men's and Women's basketball teams, a good week was needed for both programs. And both of them came through this week. The Mississippi State Basketball Men's team had an impressive win over 12th ranked Missouri on Tuesday, and they followed it up with a three point win over the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday.
The Women's team was able to get two wins of their own. They beat the Florida Gators on Thursday night, and they kept their winning streak against the Ole Miss Rebels alive with a four point victory on Sunday. Host Justin Strawn breaks down a successful week for both Mississippi State basketball teams, and he looks a little bit at the recruiting news that broke on Sunday afternoon as well.

Episode 76: Recapping the 2020 Mississippi State Football Season
The 2020 Mississippi State football season has come to a close with a 28-26 Bulldog win in the Armed Forces Bowl. It was a bumpy ride for the most part in 2020, but the Bulldogs finished with some positive momentum and will have some things to build upon when the 2021 season kicks off later this year, and Host Justin Strawn weighs in on how it might impact the Bulldogs in the future.
While there were plenty of positive things to look at, there was also an ugly fight to end the Armed Forces Bowl. While it was a bad look at the time, Justin explains why Bulldog fans shouldn't get too worked up over people taking shots at the Mississippi State football program because of it.
To end the show, Justin examines how the basketball teams fared and what they might have to look forward in the coming weeks as the 2020-21 season gets full swing into SEC play.

In the second half of the show, Justin looks ahead to this weekend as the Arkansas Razorbacks travel to Starkville. Will the Bulldogs out up another record performance? Justin gives his thoughts on how the game will play out and what you can expect to see when the two teams take the field.

The 2020 Mississippi State football season kicks off this Saturday against the LSU Tigers. Host Justin Strawn takes a look at what he thinks will happen in the 10 game SEC only season. While it won't be an easy road to travel, Justin explains why there is some room to be optimistic about how the season will play out.
In the second half of the show, Justin looks at the game against the Tigers, and despite the fact the Bulldogs are nearly three touchdown underdogs, there is reason to be optimistic about the Bulldogs' chances in this one as well.

The Starkville State of Mind is back! Host Justin Strawn is back with his regular bi-weekly show now that it appears sports have returned!
In this episode, Justin breaks down both the offense and the defense and what you can expect in the 2020 from both groups. There are lots of questions to be answered, but lots of reason to be confident things will turn out just fine with new Head Football Coach Mike Leach at the helm. With nothing but SEC teams on the schedule, there should be lots to be excited about for the 2020 season! It's finally game week!

How will changing the flag impact Mississippi State?
The Mississippi State Legislature has voted to change the flag, and after a few more formalities take place, the Flag of 1894 will no longer represent the state. It was a historic day for Mississippi, and one that will impact Mississippi State athletics, but it might not have happened had it not been for the efforts of one Mississippi State athlete.
There are other things impacting Mississippi State athletics, most particularly the coronavirus is spiking. This could have a huge impact on what football looks like this fall, or if there will even be football at all. Plus, there was some big recruiting news for the football team on Saturday at a much needed positon. Episode 72: Has Mississippi State found their new Women's Basketball coach?
After a shocking turn of events this past Sunday afternoon that saw Vic Schaefer leave Mississippi State for the the Texas Longhorns, the Bulldogs are on the hunt for a new Women's basketball head coach. If what one reporter in Virginia is saying is true, the Bulldogs might have their new coach already in place. Nikki McCray could be the next Bulldog head coach, but we'll have to wait for confirmation to know for sure.
Staying on the the hardcourt, the Men's Basketball team has another big hole to fill. On Thursday, Robert Woodard announced his intention to enter the NBA Draft, though he will keep his eligibility intact and not hire an agent for right now. The Bulldogs have a lot of rebuilding to do if they want to make it back to the NCAA Tournament in 2021.

Episode 71: Why Mike Leach's tweet will not have any lasting damage to Mississippi State
New Mississippi State head football coach Mike Leach tweeted a meme that stirred up quite a controversy this past week. Host Justin Strawn looks at the reaction, and he tells you why he thinks this will eventually blow over once Mike Leach has a chance to meet with his players. He also explains why he doesn't want this to change the way Mike Leach interacts with the public in general.

Episode 69: Mississippi State pummels Ole Miss in the regular season finale
The Women's basketball team won its first two games in the SEC Tournament, but the team could not repeat their SEC Tournament Championship from a season ago. They fell to the South Carolina Gamecocks and await their future in the NCAA Tournament.
The baseball team got a much needed sweep over the Quinnipiac Bobcats this weekend. They have a tough week ahead, and Justin breaks down the tall task the Bulldogs will be facing when they travel to Biloxi on Tuesday to take on Texas Tech.

The Mississippi State baseball team received a tough blow on Thursday when it was announced J.T. Ginn had undergone season ending elbow surgery. Host Justin Strawn looks at what that means for the short term future this weekend against Quinnipiac and what it means for the long term impact on J.T. Ginn and the 2020 Mississippi State baseball season.

The Mississippi State basketball team got a much needed home win over the Alabama Crimson Tide on Tuesday. They'll need to keep the momentum going as they travel to Missouri to take on the Tigers. Host Justin Strawn explains why this game is so important for Ben Howland's team.
The baseball team had a disappointing loss on Tuesday to Texas Southern. In the early part of the season, the bats have not impressed. Justin explains why that could be a serious problem for the Bulldogs as they travel to California to take on a Long Beach State team with a red hot pitching staff.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are getting ready to host a big baseball series at Dudy Noble Field against the Oregon State Beavers, but they will have to do it without their star pitching ace J.T. Ginn. Chris Lemonis announced Carlisle Koestler will take Ginn's spot in the rotation on Friday. The Mississippi State Bulldogs went into Fayetteville, AR looking for a boost to their tournament resume. And thanks to a last minute tip by Abdul Ado, the Bulldogs got just what they needed. Host Justin Strawn looks back at how Mississippi State was able to get the much needed win and what it will take to keep the winning going when the South Carolina Gamecocks come to Humphrey Coliseum on Wednesday night.
The baseball team also opened their season this weekend, and the Diamond Dawgs came away with a sweep over Wright State. Justin tells you what if anything can be taken away from the lopsided series.
Last, the Women's basketball team suffered their second SEC setback in Lexington on Sunday. While it isn't ideal, it shouldn't do anything to deter what will be another stellar season for the Bulldogs.

The Mississippi State Men's Basketball team went to Oxford and was embarrassed while they were there. The Bulldogs were humbled in their 25 point loss to the Rebels, and it has host Justin Strawn asking if the game of basketball has passed Ben Howland by?
The Bulldogs will have to lick their wounds quickly because things don't get any easier. Mississippi State will travel to Fayetteville on Saturday to take on the Razorbacks. Justin takes a look at what it will take for the Bulldogs to get back on track.
