Chabad is a 'home away from home'

Chabad is a 'home away from home'

Chabad Cal Poly is a club on campus whose motto is to be a “Home away from home” for Jewish students on campus.

Rabbi Chaim Hillel started the club in 2009, with the purpose of creating a club that services students and the local community. Chabad Cal Poly puts on shabbat dinners, booths at the university union plaza, hosts barbeques and more.

It took Drake Abrahamson 16 hours to shape his first surfboard.

Mustang Lanes, located in the University Union, is the only bowling alley in the city of San Luis Obispo. It’s also home to a bowling class offered by the Kinesiology Department that Cal Poly students can take for one unit of course credit. Several sections of KINE 109 are offered each quarter and meet twice a week for fifty minutes at a time.

The World Surf League’s SLO CAL open returned to Pismo beach in January for a week-long competition open to the public.
