What is Imposter Syndrome?
Imposter syndrome is defined as a psychological
pattern of one’s doubts about their life, accomplishments, and goals. Many
people feel like frauds despite the evidence of their competence and success.
It very often stems from the need for external validation through social media
validation, community, workplace achievement, and entrepreneurial success.
Imposter Syndrome can lead to career, business and relationship problems.
Imposter syndrome can also lead to self-destruction, anxiety, self-doubt, low
self-esteem, and fear. Imposter syndrome also has a spiritual component, and
it’s critical to recognize and practice spiritual self-renewal daily. There are
several ways to overcome imposter syndrome and we will outline 5 critical ways
in this episode of the holistic wealth podcast.

How To Overcome Imposter Syndrome
Here is a quick list of some strategies to
help you overcome imposter syndrome (Listen to the full episode of the holistic
wealth podcast):
1. Become Self-Aware – Notice the mental, emotional physical symptoms that you
feel as a result of imposter syndrome and what feelings of lack/unworthiness
you feel (what causes it?)
2. Heal Your Inner Child/Silence Your Inner Critic –
Try to confront any childhood fears, and feelings
of unworthiness.
3. Be Intentional By Design – an intention represents a commitment to embracing
your own authentic values and your own markers of success – which helps with overcoming
imposter syndrome.
4. Focus on Spiritual Self-Renewal - Regular and sustained mindfulness, prayer, and yoga
has been shown to improve attentional control, increase awareness of internal
and external experiences and reduce imposter syndrome.
5. Embrace the Holistic Wealth Method – Think of all your decisions as either a depletion
or an addition to your holistic wealth bank account – and focus on activities that
enrich you.
6. Positive Self-Talk - can stop the catastrophic mind chatter and negative
self-talk that fuels and lights the fire of imposter syndrome.
7. Find Your Purpose (Your Why) – You are uniquely
made to manifest a certain purpose in life. Remember your “why” and embrace your mission and purpose
(refocus and re-energize).

Suicide Prevention Awareness Month: Making Mental Health A Priority
Suicide Prevention Awareness Month: Making Mental Health A Priority
In this exciting episode of the Holistic Wealth podcast with Keisha Blair, we have an exciting solo episode entitled “Suicide Prevention Awareness Month: Making Mental Health A Priority”. September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month —a time to raise awareness of this stigmatized, and often taboo, topic. On the Holistic Wealth Podcast with Keisha Blair, we’re using this month to prioritize mental health, spread hope and share information with people affected by suicide. World Suicide Prevention Day is also celebrated on September 10, 2022.
During COVID-19, we’ve seen increasing rates of suicide (even among celebrities and millionaires), record mental health issues, loneliness, and anxiety rates increase in teens and children plus a host of health disorders. We have also seen a new awareness surrounding work-life balance, overall wellness, and achieving meaningful lives. People are no longer accepting that stress and burnout have to be the norm.
According to the World Health Organization, someone around the globe dies by suicide every 40 seconds. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among Canadians under 25 years old. 79% of all people who die by suicide are male. Although more women than men attempt suicide, men are 4x more likely to die by suicide. Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among people aged 10–14 and the 3rd leading cause of death among people aged 15-24 in the U.S. Suicide is the 12th leading cause of death overall in the U.S. 46% of people who die by suicide had a diagnosed mental health condition - but research shows that 90% may have experienced symptoms of a mental health condition.
Connecting and openly communicating
Connecting and openly communicating with those who have had suicidal thoughts or those who have lost loved ones to suicide is essential in the effort toward suicide prevention. Since many people are unable to express and discuss their feelings due to the fear of being stigmatized, we hope that this message will help those who are struggling with suicidal thoughts or have lost a loved one to suicide to know that there is help available to support them in their journey towards healthier and more meaningful lives.
In this podcast episode, I will walk you through effective strategies to prioritize your mental health, sharing lessons from previous holistic wealth podcast episodes focusing on mental health. What are Money Blocks?
Money blocks are false belief about money. Money blocks can be a series of thought patterns, habits and behaviours that actually block financial freedom. Ancestral money blocks, are essentially false beliefs about money passed down from your ancestors, that prevent you from achieving financial success. A great place to start to try to figure out your ancestral money blocks is looking back at what your parents or caregivers, were saying about money. What was the generation before that saying about money and really looking at the lineage of how money was talked about and related to how much you felt worthy of what you thought you could and couldn’t do.

What is Financial Survivor Guilt?
Financial Survivor's guilt is when a person has feelings of guilt because they inherited a sum of money related to the loss (often the death of a loved one such as a spouse, parent, or another family member). It is often worse when the loss is sudden, tragic and unexpected. It is a common reaction to traumatic events and a symptom of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In addition, there are many instances where several people who still have jobs and financial security felt guilty about having been spared while others lost their jobs. In a 2018 study, researchers surveyed people who were receiving treatment from a traumatic stress clinic in the U.K. They found that 90% of participants who had survived an event when others had died reported experiencing feelings of guilt.
As the Founder of the Institute on Holistic Wealth, I’ve heard many widows and other clients refer to their life insurance payout as “blood money”. It’s associated with the death of a loved one so it comes with intense emotions filled with grief, loss and tragedy. The Trauma of Money Certification program at the Institute on Holistic Wealth is also designed with strategies to cope with financial survivor guilt.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Blackstock used social media to share her experiences and concerns as a physician working on the front lines and on racial health disparities and inequities exposed by the pandemic. She is best known for her work amplifying the message on racial health inequities and her media appearances speaking on the COVID-19 pandemic. She has been featured on Meet the Press, PBS NewsHour, Slate and Forbes among others. On March 22, 2022, she was named a Holistic Wealth Trailblazer by the Keisha Blair Institute on Holistic Wealth.

Reshma took on around $300,000 of student-loan debt to attend Yale Law School, but felt stuck in a private-sector role because it allowed her to make enough money to pay off part of her loans. Her job in finance made her miserable and depressed, but it also made it possible for her to help her family pay their mortgage.
Reshma has spent more than a decade advocating for women’s and girls’ economic empowerment, working to close the gender gap in the tech sector, and, most recently, championing policies to support mothers impacted by the pandemic. Saujani is also the author of the international bestseller Brave, Not Perfect, and her influential TED talk, “Teach Girls Bravery, Not Perfection,” has more than five million views. What Is Financial Anxiety? And What Are Some Tips to Cope with it? With Keisha Blair Author of Holistic Wealth
What Is Financial Anxiety? And What Are Some Tips to Cope with it? With Keisha Blair Author of Holistic Wealth
In this exciting solo episode of the Holistic Wealth Podcast were discussing a very important topic: What is financial anxiety? And what are some tips and strategies to deal with it? The topic of financial anxiety is covered in a new course I just developed at the Institute on Holistic Wealth – the Certified Trauma of Money Consultant Program. The NEW Holistic Wealth Expanded and Updated: 36 Life Lessons To Help You Recover From Disruption, Find Your Life Purpose and Achieve Financial Freedom (now available for preorder), also has tips and strategies for managing financial anxiety.
Definition of Financial Anxiety
Financial anxiety is anxiety caused by money and/or personal finances, that causes feelings of fear, anxiety, worry, stress, and a range of negative emotions. Financial anxiety doesn't have to be caused by a lack of money. I have heard from many women that I coach that even when they are in a "state of abundance" they're still worried about money. Those who suffer from financial anxiety are in a perpetual state of worry and fear about day-to-day bills, day-to-day spending, investing, and it can be very debilitating for some people.
Unresolved financial trauma from the past can lead to financial anxiety, which can also further lead to making sub-optimal financial decisions over a lifetime, potentially costing individuals hundreds of thousands of dollars, from an investment perspective. Our past experiences around money can be directly responsible for our emotions around money today. In this episode, we also outline how financial anxiety can cause fear, doubt, lack of confidence and block you from achieving your financial goals and your purpose in life. Anti-Black Racism, The Racial Wealth Gap & All The White Friends I Couldn’t Keep with Andre Henry
Anti-Black Racism, The Racial Wealth Gap & All The White Friends I Couldn’t Keep with Andre Henry
We are rounding out Black History Month with this amazing Holistic Wealth podcast episode on Anti-Black Racism, and the racial wealth gap. In this exciting episode of the Holistic Wealth Podcast, our special guest is Andre Henry, Author of All the White Friends I Couldn’t Keep. Hope and Hard Pills to Swallow About Fighting For Black Lives.
When the rallying cry “Black Lives Matter” was heard across the world in 2013, award-winning singer-songwriter Andre Henry was one of the millions for whom the movement caused a political awakening and a rupture in some of his closest relationships with white people. As he began using his artistic gifts to share his experiences and perspective, Henry was aggrieved to discover that many white Americans—people he called friends and family—were more interested in debating whether racism existed or whether Henry was being polite enough in the way he used his voice.
In this personal and thought-provoking book, Henry explores how the historical divides between Black people and non-Black people are expressed through our most mundane interactions, and why this struggle won’t be resolved through civil discourse, diversity hires interracial relationships or education. What we need is a revolution, one that moves beyond symbolic progress to disrupt systems of racial violence and inequality intangible, creative ways.
As Andre revealed to Shondaland.com in an interview: “When I decided that I'd invest my body in the struggle for Black freedom, I started with a performance art piece where I lugged a solid granite boulder around the Los Angeles area for several months. Next, I walked around with a suit jacket with the names of victims of police brutality. I've gotten several messages over the years about how those performances helped reframe things for some people who witnessed them. My music encourages other activists to keep going and helps me to express my truth.” Tune in to listen to this amazing episode of the Holistic Wealth podcast with special guest Rev. Andre Henry.

Inflation is rising rapidly in Canada, the United States, and around the world and workers are in trouble. How To Tackle Mom Burnout, Mom Guilt & Reclaim Your Inner Sparkle
How To Tackle Mom Burnout, Mom Guilt & Reclaim Your Inner Sparkle
In this exciting episode of the Holistic Wealth podcast with Keisha Blair, our very special guest is Catherine Wilde. Catherine is a certified yoga & meditation instructor, a kids yoga teacher, a soul care mom coach and a mom of three. Catherine supports moms on their motherhood journey – in particular on issues such as mom burnout, and mom guilt, and helping moms reclaim their inner sparkle. After the birth of her first child, the reality of motherhood began to sink in. Catherine loved being a mom, but at the same time, she was exhausted, overwhelmed, and felt like she was failing. As her family grew, life became more chaotic. She knew there had to be a better way.
She realized that prioritizing her needs and tuning into her intuition was allowing her to find calm in the chaos of motherhood and feel like a more confident mom. Over time she found simple ways to bring self-care and soul care into her busy days. COVID-19 has had a tremendous impact on moms, with rising rates of mom burnout, mom guilt and stress. COVID-19 has been especially hard hit have been working moms who already were doing too much before COVID-19. And they’re burning out in record numbers. More than half of working moms are experiencing symptoms of burnout, according to a recent poll conducted by CNBC and SurveyMonkey. It’s little wonder so many are tapped out — they’ve long done double duty, working inside and outside the home. During the pandemic, many women had to quit their jobs or take a leave of absence. Others who could work from home, found themselves juggling their job duties with supervising their children's online classes and homework — a challenging proposition for those with multiple kids in simultaneous classes. Tune in to listen in to this exciting episode of the Holistic Wealth Podcast with special guest, Catherine Wilde.

Financial and Money-Based Trauma and How to Rewrite Your Personal Money Story
Financial and Money-Based Trauma and How to Rewrite Your Personal Money Story
In this exciting episode of the Holistic Wealth podcast with Keisha Blair, our very special guest is Dr. Nicole Lepera. Dr. Nicole LePera was trained in clinical psychology at Cornell University and the New School for Social Research. She also studied at the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis. As a clinical psychologist in private practice, Dr. Nicole LePera often found herself frustrated by the limitations of traditional psychotherapy. Wanting more for her patients—and for herself—she began a journey to develop a united philosophy of mental, physical, and spiritual health that equips people with the tools necessary to heal themselves. Nothing short of a paradigm shift, Dr. Nicole LePera’s teachings empower the individual to break free from trauma cycles and create who they want to become. Dr. Lepera now has 4.8 million followers (i.e. the self-healer community) on Instagram, which is growing and thriving by the day.
In this episode, we discussed financial and money-based trauma and how to create a new money story. This includes creating a new relationship with money, practicing new thoughts about money, learning how to relate with other views around money. To see money in a different actionable way, and to then create change in our relationship with money. We also discussed ancestral money blocks (and a previous Holistic Wealth podcast episode with Jena Sophia about the sub-conscious) and lack of awareness around our money habits as well as unlearning previous money thoughts around money security and prioritizing money habits. As Dr. Lepera said in the interview around her own personal money story:
“It was always this kind of drive or awareness of security and the lack of security that I was seemingly going into in private practice. So taking that Personal Financial Identity quiz and, and seeing that mindset of an entrepreneur and a Risk Taker definitely now is something that I can resonate with learning again, how to move forward. Once I really realized that this practice wasn't going to be my all end-all. Even though I invested upwards of almost $200,000 in school debt, and almost 10 years of my life to do it. Talk about taking a risk. Living in alignment was what was most important than just going to that security of that job that I know was giving me a comfortable life. It took an unlearning that belief of what security means and beginning to prioritize other things, in addition to security, and of course, it meant the practical in the middle of all of this, where I still had the practice that I was doing on a limited basis while I was now trying to create this new path”.

What Is Holistic Healing? With Keisha Blair Author of Holistic Wealth
What Is Holistic Healing? With Keisha Blair Author of Holistic Wealth
In this exciting solo episode of the Holistic Wealth Podcast we're discussing a very important topic in light of COVID-19 and the huge increase in stress and mental health issues as well as the importance of our physical health: What is Holistic Healing? And what are some tips and strategies to cope? The topic of Holistic Healing is also covered through my own personal experience in the First edition of Holistic Wealth as well as the upcoming Holistic Wealth Expanded and Updated: 36 Life Lessons To Help You Recover From Disruption, Find Your Life Purpose and Achieve Financial Freedom (now available for preorder).
Many people have experienced grief and loss during COVID-19, and even if you haven't lost a loved one, you've had secondary losses, whether it's the loss of a job a chronic illness, or not being able to get together with friends or family, or a divorce or separation. we have to absolutely win the battle in our mind before we can win the battle anywhere else. Holistic Healing is key to the “art of recovery from disruption”, and to embracing your life purpose and charting a path forward, which is all wrapped up in my book Holistic Wealth.
I've defined Holistic Healing as a method of healing that focuses on the whole person. And that includes the mind, body, spirit, emotions, physical health. Holistic Healing is therefore a core aspect of holistic wealth. In my book, Holistic Wealth, I talk a lot about my personal healing journey, as a matter of fact, in the book, there’s an entire section that's titled “Physical and Spiritual Nourishment”. There's also another section of the book, that speaks to “Intentional Life Purpose”, as well as “Goodwill and Relationships”. There's so much wrapped up in Holistic Healing in that book. I've had my own personal journey of Holistic Healing becoming widowed at a very young age at 31, just eight weeks after I gave birth to my second child, I went on a journey of holistic healing. I really took a systems perspective to my own healing and it encompassed that holistic healing journey because I focused on my mind, my body, my spirit, my emotions in order to heal. And so I've developed this framework from my own personal journey. Tune in to listen to this exciting episode of the Holistic Wealth podcast with Keisha Blair.

In this exciting solo episode of the Holistic Wealth podcast with Keisha Blair, we're discussing the Year of Self-Care. The Year of Holistic Wealth, and how you can make wellness a priority in 2022. COVID-19 has ushered in a wellness revolution as people continue to put their health and wellness in focus. According to the Global Wellness Institute, the global wellness market is now valued at $4.2 trillion, up 12.8% from $3.7 trillion in 2015 – and it's only expected to continue growing over the next few years. For all of us, this can mean prioritizing your wellness routine and taking your self-care to new levels in 2022, as we usher in the "Year of the Self-Care". In my new book Holistic Wealth: 36 Life Lessons To Help You Recover From Disruption, Find Your Life Purpose and Achieve Financial Freedom. Now Available for Preorder, I also talked about the "Art of Recovery from Disruption" - and a critical part of that is radical self-care. As I stated in my book:
“Our education system teaches about linearity, not about what to do when this linear pattern breaks, not where to look for resilience, not the art of recovery from disruption." – Keisha Blair, Holistic Wealth
After tragedy struck, I didn't have a toolbox to master that art of recovery from disruption, so I created one out of sheer need and the desire to radically transform my life. Mastering that art in 2022 will be important. This Holistic Wealth podcast episode discusses a few ways you can up your self-care and wellness game in 2022. Elizabeth Carr is the first baby born from an in-vitro fertilization procedure in the United States and the 15th in the world, which means she has been in the media spotlight since 3 cells old. Her birth was announced, the day after she was born, in a full editorial write-up in the New York Times, on December 29, 1981, entitled “First Test Tube Baby Born in the United States, Joining Successes Around the World”. Her first press conference was at 3 days old. The technique was conducted at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk under the direction of In-Vitro fertilization pioneers, Doctors Howard Jones and Georgeanna Seager Jones, who were the first ever to attempt the process in the United States. Elizabeth's mother had been unable to conceive normally because complications during earlier unsuccessful pregnancies had forced the removal of her fallopian tubes.
Elizabeth is also a marathoner, journalist, triathlete, coffee connoisseur, wife, mother, and writer turned non-profit fundraising expert. Elizabeth worked as a journalist at The Boston Globe for 15 years, first as a reporter, then in marketing and events. Elizabeth learned at a very young age that simply sharing her story could help people -- a trait her parents instilled in her. As such, Elizabeth has spoken to audiences around the world. The idea behind her podcast, The First, is to bring some of that behind-the-scenes access to the masses. Elizabeth is also a Patient Advocate at Genomic Prediction. Ensuring an Equitable Return to the Workplace After COVID-19 with Heather Odendaal
Ensuring an Equitable Return to the Workplace After COVID-19 with Heather Odendaal
In this exciting episode of the Holistic Wealth podcast with Keisha Blair, our very special guest is Heather Odendaal. Heather is the Co-founder of WNORTH Connect, based in Whistler, British Columbia. Heather is an accomplished entrepreneur, brand builder and an acclaimed event producer in Western Canada. Heather has worked on some of Canada's largest and most influential events including the Whistler Film Festival, Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival and the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Ensuring an equitable return to the workforce after COVID-19, will be one of the key challenges faced by employers. According to Heather Odendaal on the Holistic Wealth podcast:
“One of the things, as a remote employee that I experienced, and I hope that this is a flaw that is fixed in the next few years or even months is as a remote employee, I always felt like I was being treated differently and I wasn't being considered for certain opportunities. I was left out of important conversations…. What I would like to see is a more equitable spread of how those remote employees or those hybrid employees get treated when it comes to promotion, when it comes to opportunities for advancement, women and women of color, people of color, people with disabilities, all minorities, will be more likely to select remote work and hybrid environments than non-minorities. And, so we're going to see a fundamental shift in the makeup of who is going to be remote and who is going to be in the office”.
In 2014, Heather Odendaal and her team recognized critical business challenges many professional mid-career women face, who lacked fundamental organizational support, often resulting in leaving the corporate workforce. To address the issue, Heather and her husband, Mike Odendaal, created the WNORTH conference. Specifically focused on elevating more mid-management women to senior leadership roles, the WNORTH organization has since challenged the status quo, provided support, and driven change within the corporate environment.
WNORTH has worked with companies including Aritzia, HSBC, AstraZeneca, and more, on developing retention strategies for high-potential leaders in their organizations. Through these partnerships, WNORTH has strengthened and expanded on the internal support for women in the workforce – supporting an overwhelmingly underserved community of women – especially minority groups, including women of colour, and indigenous women. How To Cope With Social Anxiety and Trauma (Including Money Blocks)
In this exciting episode, our very special guest is Rebecca Wiener McGregor, a consulting hypnotist, certified by the National Guild of Hypnotists, creator of the Whole Life Happy Method of hypnosis, breakthrough-maker coach, and mentor since 2004. She has experienced social anxiety herself and helps others overcome trauma, including money blocks.
According to Rebecca on the Holistic Wealth podcast: “what I've learned from my career is that when we have something happen and we have a series of pathways. That way of thinking and then the brain responds with the activity of the mind and the thinking that happens. So we begin to create beliefs based on what we think in those experiences and I help clients deal with a lot of physical and sexual abuse.
And they begin to have the feeling that they’re not worth anything because of this trauma. And they begin to have these thoughts over and over that are related to that experience. And those create pathways in our brain. And when we heal neutralize the experiences and start to recreate new pathways, because we can recreate new pathways”.
Rebecca’s work really resonated with my viral article entitled “My Husband Died At Age 34. Here Are 40 Life Lessons I Learned From It” (by Keisha Blair)and I discussed my new upcoming book that focuses on overcoming disruption, that’s now available for pre-order. Black Women’s Equal Pay Day (Only 3% of Black Professionals Want to Return To The Office) & Strategies To Navigate Life Transitions
Black Women’s Equal Pay Day (Only 3% of Black Professionals Want to Return To The Office) & Strategies To Navigate Life Transitions
Today on the Holistic Wealth Podcast, we have a solo episode, so I'm so excited. There's a huge topic that's been in the media this week. This week we celebrated Black Women's Equal Pay Day. And so I just want to talk about some issues related to that, especially because there is a new statistic out from Future Forum that states that only 3% of black professionals surveyed want to go back to the office full-time.
Now that statistic is just mind-blowing because what that means is that 97% of Black professionals surveyed from Future Forum don't want to go back to the office full time. It's unbelievable. And I also want to share some stats from Lean in.org that was shared on Black Women's Equal Pay Day. And these statistics are equally startling.
According to Lean In.org, Black women had to work seven extra months into 2021 to get paid what white men were paid in 2020 alone. In addition, more than four in five Black women are the major breadwinners for their families, which means their partners and children are dependent on their income. So black women can't afford to pass up an opportunity even if it isn't fair. In other words, they have to just stick with what they can get because they are the breadwinners for their families, the breadwinners for their households, and they have partners and children that are dependent on their income. As a result, black women feel the effects of being low-balled throughout their careers over the course of the average Black woman's career, the lost income adds up to almost a million dollars. So over the course of their careers, and I'll just repeat that over the course of the average Black woman's career, the lost income adds up to a million dollars. And for many of us who are Black women, we're not surprised. And I know if you're listening in and you're in this category, you're not surprised. You're thinking, yes, this is exactly it.
This is exactly what we've been saying for years. It's come to a head now with COVID-19 where the Black community has been hit, especially hard. We've all had relatives die. We've had relatives pass away. And it's unbelievable. The sacrifices that the Black community has made, especially in line with recent racial riots after the George Floyd killings and Breonna Taylor and other killings, it's just been unbelievable.
So I know that for many of us, we're not surprised about that 3% statistic, which indicates that only 3% want to return to the office. We're not surprised. And it's part of a revolution happening, a greater revolution called “The Great Awakening” or “The Great Resignation Wave”. It's part of that. It's a global phenomenon.
As economies are reopening that saw a record number of people quitting their jobs. And in April 2021, I'll tell you that Exodus amounted to 4 million US workers or 2.7% of the US workforce. And so this statistic about Black professionals, the 3% statistic is just part and parcel of that. But of course, For Black professionals, this is magnified, right?
Whether you're male or female, this is magnified. And so many Black people suffer from microaggressions and discrimination at work. Most Black professionals don't feel like they belong in their workplaces. Many feel like they have to code switch, which is, changing the way they talk, the things they talk about, the way they behave, just to fit in at work.
Tune in to this exciting episode of the Holistic Wealth podcast where I share some chilling evidence of the barriers Black professionals face as well as some strategies for Black professionals to overcome these barriers.

Hear Eve’s thoughts on white feminism. In Eve’s words: it's “incumbent on white presenting women that we understand what “care feminism” is - that we are not this boss feminism, this individualistic feminism, that notion has to be burned and we have to come back to the table to recognize everybody's lived experience and to fight for other people's lived experiences”.

How To Invest in Cryptocurrency, & Financial Education for Women with Claire Wasserman, Founder of Ladies Get Paid
How To Invest in Cryptocurrency, & Financial Education for Women with Claire Wasserman, Founder of Ladies Get Paid
In this exciting episode, our very special guest is Claire Wasserman. Claire is the founder and author of Ladies Get Paid, an organization that helps women advance professionally and get equal pay. It began at a town hall that she organized as space for women to share their stories, and it’s evolved into a full-fledged company that runs a Slack group home to over 75,000 women in all 50 states and across 120 countries. It’s also the title of her book, a guide that dispenses invaluable advice to women on how to find their freedom, power and value.
Claire started Ladies Get Paid after realizing the depth of the gender pay disparities in the workplace. It was after hosting an event that made her realize two things. One, that she needed to continue bringing women together to talk about this stuff. And two, there was a tangible way that women could at least begin to close the wage gap for themselves. That also included negotiating their salaries. As Claire recalls in the interview, “I don't think that a lot of women were doing it, because they were nervous, or they weren't doing it because they didn't know how, but they didn't know what to charge or they weren't doing it. And they were getting a “no” and not knowing what was next. I created a slack group and as I hosted these monthly events, I invited people to join the slack group and it became very clear what kind of education women needed around money and career”. Listen in to this exciting episode of the Holistic Wealth Podcast with special guest Claire Wasserman, which includes the power of financial education, the value of investing for women to grow wealth, as well as investing in cryptocurrency.

How This Entrepreneur Brought Her Family From the Brink Of Bankruptcy to Financial Stability and Building a Multi-Million Dollar Business.
In this exciting episode, Tara Williams, Founder of Dreamland Baby shares her tragedy to triumph story of bringing her family back from the brink of bankruptcy to financial stability and building a multi-million-dollar business. Tara Williams is also a mom of four kids and is now helping more than 50,000 families get a better night’s sleep.
According to Tara, "at almost six months old, our son Luke was still waking up every hour and a half. Like so many other new parents we were desperate for sleep. One night we placed him under a heavy throw blanket while sitting on our couch. I noticed as soon as the weight was on his body, he instantly calmed down. A lightbulb went off in my head: he needs a weighted blanket! I called my mother-in-law to sew my idea; a lightly weighted blanket. The first night wearing our prototype Luke slept 12 hours! We couldn’t believe how immediately his sleep was improved. Word quickly spread and I was flooded with requests from family and friends. The idea to bring Dreamland Baby to families everywhere was born."
In May 2020 Tara appeared on ABCs Shark Tank and was successful in getting funded. Check out this exciting episode of the Holistic Wealth podcast with Tara Williams in conversation with Keisha Blair!

The survey revealed that women’s spending has increased. Women are 16% more likely than men to say they spend more money due to coronavirus. Many Americans have also decided to start saving, as 61% of Americans are saving more money during the coronavirus pandemic, rather than spending more. Financial Resilience – Paying Down Debt. Vs Saving and Investing
Financial Resilience – Paying Down Debt. Vs Saving and Investing
In this exciting and quick solo episode, I’m giving some quick tips on financial resilience and financial resourcefulness and why its important to try to pay down debt as well as save and invest at the same time – no matter how small. Its an age-old debate in the personal finance world – and I am offering my perspective based on my book Holistic Wealth and my own professional experience as a trained Economist and as someone who has a unique perspective to offer based on my own experience of being widowed at a very young age.
In the Certified Holistic WealthTM Consultant Program, offered through the Institute on Holistic Wealth, there’s an entire module on financial resilience and financial resourcefulness and why they are so important – in addition to saving and paying down debt at the same time. These are critical elements of a Holistic Wealth portfolio that is unique for everyone. COVID-19 has shown us that financial resilience – which is defined as the ability to bounce back financially after setbacks, is extremely important. As I stated in my book, holistic wealth is about “the art of recovery from disruption”, and financial resilience is part of that art.
“Having an emergency fund with savings to last six or nine months is also ideal. An emergency fund can be a lifesaver in cases of long-term illness, a job loss, sudden death, or divorce. An emergency fund is a building block of financial resilience—which I’ve defined as the speed at which we can bounce back from setbacks or tragedy. Similarly, a life insurance policy and critical illness or disability insurance are all building blocks of financial resilience”. –Holistic Wealth.

How to Overcome Imposter Syndrome and Negative Self-Talk. Plus Hear How Michelle Kuei Overcame Her Suicidal Thoughts (and Suicide Ideation).
How to Overcome Imposter Syndrome and Negative Self-Talk. Plus Hear How Michelle Kuei Overcame Her Suicidal Thoughts (and Suicide Ideation).
In this exciting episode of the Holistic Wealth podcast with Keisha Blair, our very special guest is Michelle Kuei, Founder of Elevate Life Coaching. Michelle is a certified confidence & leadership coach and author of a new memoir entitled “Perfectly Normal: An Immigrant’s Story of Making it in America”. Michelle has a PHD in Pharmacy, and is a certified life coach.
It is estimated that 70% of people experience imposter syndrome at some point in their lives. Imposter syndrome affects people from all walks of life. Michelle works with negative self-talkers to discover their inner strength and beauty by overcoming the fear of judgment. Michelle opens up on the Holistic Wealth podcast about her suicide attempt – and how she overcame her suicidal thoughts and suicide ideation. With Meghan Markle’s Oprah interview just a few days ago – we thought this would be a great episode to continue the discussion surrounding mental health and how important it is to us all.
For many years, Michelle allowed her negative beliefs to rule her life. The idea of loving herself felt strange. She was afraid to be seen and known. In order to be seen and known, she would need to tell and explain about her disability. Michelle is permanently disabled as a result of a hit and run car accident when she was 11 years old. Growing up in a society and culture where beauty is weighted heavily on appearance, the stories that she told herself were harsh, brutal, and cruel.
Michelle’s story is one of courage, determination, and vulnerability. But more importantly, it is about having the confidence to face fear in everyday life. Facing our own worst enemy, facing our own judgments and harsh criticism.
By letting go of her own judgments, she allowed herself to flow freely. She accepted herself for all her strengths, beauty, and flaws. She accepts that she is not the perfect hourglass shape and accepts herself just the way she is no matter how others see her. Michelle is now on a mission to share this positivity with the world. Tune into this exciting episode of the Holistic Wealth Podcast with Keisha Blair in conversation with Michelle Kuei.

From Political Refugees to Oprah’s Favorite Things List 2020. Helena and Feven Yohannes, Co-Founders of 241 Cosmetics Discuss their Entrepreneurial Journey.
In this exciting episode, Helen and Feven Yohannes share the strategies they used to grow their company into a thriving profitable company that was chosen to be on Oprah’s 2020 Favorite Things list. Their story began in Sudan, where their parents fled to seek refuge during the civil war between Eritrea and Ethiopia in the early 1980s. (Eritrea gained its independence from Ethiopia in 1993.) In 1985, when Feven and Helena were four, the family arrived in the States—via a green card lottery, with sponsorship from Third Presbyterian Church in Rochester—and made upstate, New York, their home.
Hear how Helena and Feven Yohannes grew their company 241 Cosmetics, and are now 100% self-funded – using their own cash. In the initial stages of launching their own business, that meant putting vacations on hold, temporarily operating out of the late rapper Nipsey Hussle’s co-working space and taking on full-time jobs. It was when they discovered their life’s purpose that they also instilled their mission within their brand and ethos and even named three of their lipsticks after their beloved motherland – RED SEA (a nod to the body of water along their motherland’s coastline), ASMARA, which is named after Eritrea’s capital city, and QUEEN and a black liquid eyeliner called WING IT to acknowledge makeup’s history in ancient Egypt.
