Not a Real Enemy: The True Story of a Hungarian Jewish Man's Fight for Freedom with author Robert J Wolf, MD S3 EPS 22
Author Robert Wolf, MD shares the story of his parents fleeing their homeland during WWII.
"The disc, my father's story, called out to me. I felt like it summoned me."
BIO
Robert Wolf, MD, grew up as the only child of Ervin and Judit Wolf. The stories of their escape from communist Hungary, and his father's tragic history of escaping the Nazis twice but having his own parents taken to Auschwitz, inspired Robert to document his parents' tales and share those stories with Jewish groups and others throughout the United States. In "Not a Real Enemy" Robert shares his family saga and the forgotten history of the nearly half million Hungarian Jews who were deported and killed during the Holocaust through an epic and inspiring tale of daring escapes, terrifying oppression, tragedy, and triumph.
About "Not a Real Enemy: The True Story of a Hungarian Jewish Man's Fight for Freedom"
Robert Wolf, author and speaker released his new book "Not a Real Enemy: The True Story of a Hungarian Jewish Man's Fight for Freedom." The book details the remarkable story of his family's history that follows his Jewish parents and grandparents first living under the Nazis, and then under the communist regime in Hungary. It explores the depths of his family, shares their experiences, and his father Ervin Wolf's quest for freedom.
In 1944, almost half a million Jewish Hungarians are deported to Auschwitz. Among the few surviving Hungarian Jews from this era were young men who, like Ervin Wolf, were conscripted into the brutal Forced Labor Service where they were cut off from the outside world and ordered to endure inhumane brutalities and servitude. Once freed, a new oppression took hold as a communist rule under Stalin turned friends into foes, enveloped the nation in fear and suspicion, and tested everyone's character and strength.
This is the true story of Ervin Wolf and his family as the fascist tide of Eastern Europe takes hold of Hungary. From Wolf's comfortable upper-class life to imprisonment, daring escapes, tragic deaths, cloak-and-dagger adventures, and Ervin's final escape to freedom in the dead of night, "Not a Real Enemy" is a page-turning tale of suspense, tragedy, comedy, and ultimately, triumph.
"Not a Real Enemy: The True Story of a Hungarian Jewish Man's Fight for Freedom" by author Robert Wolf is available at retailers and online including at Barnes & Noble, Walmart, and Amazon.

"I thought I was going to die." Life-changing MS diagnosis, early retirement and writing a book as therapy with Kim "Kid" Curry S3 EPS 21
Life-changing MS diagnosis and moving forward.
“I felt a deterioration of my walking gait and couldn’t feel my feet contacting the ground. My toes would curl up at the touch, “floaters” appeared in my right eye and the bladder was becoming a problem. Weeks of testing resulted in the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis that ended my radio career in 2005.”
Kim's Nugget of Hope: Open your mind to solutions. It's in your DNA to give and work hard. Take the time to find it (solutions).
As a 33-year radio broadcaster, Kim Curry was forced into retirement after a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis at age 50. “Come Get Me Mother.” was a two-year writing education that doubled as therapy. Now living in Loveland, Colorado with his wife and enjoying life, he’s a dedicated foodie who loves to cook, is an International soccer fan, and an MS advocate who makes the rounds at different “Men with Multiple Sclerosis” meetings in Northern Colorado. Writing is his new hobby.
Kim Curry was a radio broadcaster for 33 years in some of America’s finest cities: Pueblo, Knoxville, San Antonio, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Miami. Curry was a DJ in different time slots and the Program Director of two of America’s legendary stations; KTSA-AM San Antonio and Power 96, Miami.
Curry was a broadcaster in the days when ownership was limited to seven AM and seven FM radio stations before the radio’s corporate takeover. Creative freedom and owner trust led to huge ratings as DJ, consistently scoring the highest ratings in his timeslot. As Program Director, “Kid” Curry led Power 96 to the highest ratings in the station’s history and achieved the most significant cumulative audience in the Southeast United States.
In 2005, Kim Curry was forced into retirement from the radio business after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

The founder of Red Cup Agency, a podcast production agency. https://www.redcupagency.com/about
Lee is also the author of five non-fiction books. Surrender is his first published novel. Surrender takes place in a future where a global machine intelligence manages our climate disaster. While a tech company works to harvest every citizen’s thoughts, a secret band of resisters struggles to keep human thought safe and free.
Lee lives in Santa Monica, CA with his family.
Lee Schneider and Ever Gonzalez are the founders of FutureX.Studio. https://futurex.studio Futurex.Studio is a media platform for generating dialogue and building a community around science fiction projects that imagine a positive view of the future. Every project we support asks, “What would the future of a just world look like?”
Science fiction storytelling is often dystopian. This dystopian view is valuable because it helps us see how not to proceed into the future and shows how we have failed. But storytelling focused on imagining social change must also ask what a just future would look like. FutureX.Studio exists to ask how technology can be our ally, and how future visions may be shaped to help us envision gender and racial equality and social and environmental justice.

Charles Nugget of Hope: "Believe in your skills, and use them in all aspects of your life."
Rox's Nugget of Hope: "Disconnect from tech once in a while. Remember that you are a creative person."
BIO
BREAKFIELD AND BURKEY began their partnership by writing non-fictional papers and books. They formed a business partnership to share stories as fictional story writers. They recognize storytelling is an evolving method to share the excitement, thrills, and insights into today’s technology risks.
They are passionate about leveraging real technology into fictional writing. In addition, the variety of characters has attributes from the many people who crossed their professional paths adding that depth. Admittedly, Breakfield often asks interesting people he meets if they thought about being an evil cyberthug or femme fatale in their series.
Both authors have traveled to many places around the world. These travels are pulled into stories that require real knowledge of specific locals. They enjoy well-rounded thrillers that include levels of humor, romance, intrigue, suspense, and mystery.
They love to talk about their stories at private and public book readings or events. Burkey conducts podcast-style interviews with a couple of author groups and enjoys extracting tidbits from authors, especially new ones. Her first interview was, wait for it, Breakfield. You can learn where they will be from the calendar on their website.
EnigmaSeries.com has information on the Enigma Series, 12 books, 10 short stories, audiobooks, book trailers, and the newest series Enigma Heirs releasing in 2023. They have proudly earned multiple awards for their fictional creations.

S3 EPS 13 A close experience with God changed her world; with Author Debbie Henne
"Everything was light. There were no shadows. I remember shaking the gates and thinking "Let me in! Let me in!"
Nugget of Hope: "Let Him work in you. Don't get caught up in the symptoms."
BIO
Speech-language Pathologist by day and an author by night, but all day every day, I'm a wife, mother, and Jesus lover.
I'm almost always found typing away at my computer after tucking my kids in at night. But...I don't always write on my computer. Sometimes I can be found writing with an old-fashioned pen and paper on my keyboard. I have written prophetic songs, songs inspired by biblical revelation, and worship songs. I love how music unlocks hearts and can transport us into the presence of God.
I don't believe life is about being perfect. It's about being "ever changed." God has given me incredible experiences in His presence, including a powerful experience where He took me up to heaven. It is His presence that has changed my life.
My vision is to connect hearts to the heart of God so people can live in the empowerment and victory that comes through a genuine connection to God and His supernatural power. Then we can all be forever changed.

S3 EPS2 "Relief came over me when I let go of my mask" From grief to hope, with Jason Clawson
Jason shares his jouney of grief and loss to sunshine and hope. "As a therapist, I could help other people, but I couldn't help myself."
In 2018, my life was flipped upside down after my wife (Valerie) was diagnosed with stage 4 Colon Cancer. I was terrified for myself and my small family of four. This was devastating news that completely rocked our world. The Doctor in the hospital looked at me and said “Jason, Cancer has a way of enhancing your life”. At this point in my life, I did not want this. I wanted the life I had before to go back to normal.
After Valerie’s Initial diagnosis, we were given 2-3 hours for Valerie’s life expectancy. Fast Forward 9 months later, and we found ourselves saying goodbye at her funeral. No one or thing can fully prepare you for life’s challenges, trials, and pain.
After the funeral was complete and over, I remember my support from my family and friends quickly disappeared. I quickly found myself all alone trying to pick up the pieces of life. It was a hard and lonely time for me. “What happened to all the people that were here for me”. “Does anyone care anymore”? “Where is my Team”? “How will I get through this?”
I remember saying to myself “Will I Become Happier again”. Will I find love again”. “Will I feel Joy again”.
Life began to get more and more difficult as life continued after the passing of my wife. I found myself more and more depressed, isolating, lonely, anxious, and even struggling to sleep. Life quickly became overwhelming, and I was fearful of the future because I felt like I was going to do this all alone and this was a terrifying thought.
As a clinical therapist, no one taught me about these moments that I was currently experiencing. No one prepared me on how to deal with or cope with my emotions and what I was currently dealing with. I knew I could help others going through challenging times in their life, but I could not help myself at this time.
At a low point in my journey, I could not do this alone, and finally, I reached out by sending a text for help. I remember feeling so incredibly overwhelmed, and not wanting to feel like this any longer. I sent this “HAIL MARY” text to 14 of my friends, family, and neighbors asking them to come to my house so that I could tell them how I was feeling.
Later that day, all those people I texted showed up at my house in what I call my “HEALING TEAM”. At this point, I begin to find hope and happiness again.
That summer me and my boys decided to have a lemonade stand and raise money to create “SUNSHINE BASKETS” for people that had lost a spouse, dealing with cancer, or individuals that were struggling. We wanted to raise $100 but after the lemonade stand was over we had raised $1500. This was a shock and overwhelming. We decided to make 25 baskets and begin delivering them to people who needed help and support.
As we continued to create and deliver these sunshine baskets, a lady from Virginia asked if she could get one because she was struggling. From there we created a sunshine box and began delivering it to this lady and several people across the United States. Currently, we have delivered to 45 states and are soon to be 50.
I and my Business partner (Wyatt Ernst) have created Giving Sunshine, and as of January 2022, I have stepped away from being a therapist to going full time at Giving Sunshine. We are now working hard to provide more help and healing to those that have lost loved ones, are struggling with Cancer, and have mental health issues. Our Boxes provide therapeutic tools that help others heal and become happier during challenging times of their life.

"Step through the fear, get writing." Roger Leslie PhD, Author and Publisher S2 EPS 46
A fun conversation with an award winning author and publisher. If you are a writer just starting your journey, or an established author, there are nuggets to glean in this episode!
Author Roger Leslie is a scholar in the fields of education and success. His award-winning books cover multiple genres of nonfiction and fiction. His memoir, My First Last Year and FLY (First Last Year) courses inspire people to live their dream. For seasoned and aspiring writers, Leslie drew from decades as an author, publisher, editor, and writing coach to move them From Inspiration to Publication.
ABOUT Roger
I spent my childhood in Michigan loving books and movies. At age 13 those creative diversions ignited an idea. I would be an author. Immediately I took inspiration to action and wrote my first novella. Immersed in the creative process, I sensed to my very soul that I was on a journey of a lifetime.
After moving to Texas with my family when I was a teenager, I set my sights on being a novelist. At the time I didn’t know if I had the talent to achieve my lofty dreams. But the passion I felt to succeed ran deep enough to sustain me through years of disappointing rejections and fateful detours.
Writing consistently throughout my high school years proved empowering. Setting a goal to write my first novel before graduation gave my life a driving purpose and ultimately created my first social identity. To my peers I became “the guy who wrote the book.”
Initially, my undergraduate degree focused exclusively on creative writing. But advice from a career counselor proved serendipitous. I changed my major to English education, which expanded my professional prospects to include glorious decades as a teacher, professor, and school librarian. That change in major also resulted in my enrolling in a class where I met my husband, Jerry Roberts.
Being a teacher and school librarian fed my passion to write. During that time I earned a Master’s degree in creative writing and a doctorate in education. All the while I kept writing and submitting. Over time I expanded what I wrote. Early successes included getting teaching articles published in prestigious journals, winning a prize for a play, and having my first nonfiction book locally published. Finally, multiple publishing successes converged to create a career-paving trajectory. In a single year I became a reviewer for Booklist and received contracts from different publishers for a novel and three nonfiction books.
Those diverse opportunities initiated an eclectic writer’s journey. I became open to writing in an array of genres, both nonfiction and fiction. As a result I found more publishing success through large, medium, and small publishing houses. I even won multiple local, state, and national awards.
Then my agent shared an insight that dug meaningful new paths in my writer’s journey. She said I did too much. My published works were so diverse she didn’t know how to market me. What she saw as my limitation instead made me uniquely qualified to help others.
Years as an award-winning educator paved the way for international speaking engagements. Writing success in so many genres empowered my editing with insights from a writer’s perspectives for many types of fiction and nonfiction. Being published through major, medium, small presses, and then running my own publishing house gave me first-hand expertise to coach others to writing and publishing success.

Dr. Nicole Bradford - 1 Step is All it Takes...to Maintain The Flame! S2 EPS 43
As a first-generation college graduate, and the youngest of six children, Dr. Nichole Bradford began her career working with disenfranchised youth and setting up programs to ensure their success.
She has been fortunate to work as a Professor, Vice President of Student Services, Teacher, Assistant Principal, and Campus Principal.
As a child growing up on the east side of Austin, there were no grand expectations for her future. The plan, as it was laid out, was simple: Graduate from high school, become a secretary with the state of Texas, and secure a good retirement plan.
Add to that the dysfunctional family environment in which she grew up replete with domestic violence, teen pregnancy, and criminal activity and it seemed impossible to imagine a life in which she would achieve her dreams. Well, impossible to everyone but her. Because deep inside, she always felt that fire to succeed. On some days, the flames flickered intensely, on others they dwindle slightly.
But the burning desire to live an empowered life is always there. Despite all the external and internal roadblocks, from her family environment to a lack of money to low self-esteem, she has met and mastered every challenge with which she's been confronted.
She earned my bachelor’s degree in three years, and a master’s in one. At 27, she was one of Texas Southern University’s youngest-ever Ed.D. recipients. And she was the first African American to be crowned Miss Austin.
If her past has taught her anything, it’s this: the most important thing you can do, whether you’re a parent, an educator, or an advocate, is to build children up and prepare them for the future. Your home is your training ground. Let them know it’s OK to make mistakes, it’s OK to fail, because we’re here and we’re going to get through it together.
BIO
The author of 1 Step is all it Takes, Dr. Bradford is in the process of writing her next book "My Soul is NOT for sale" which focuses on how we can break away from the Lies, Labels and Limitations and create the life you deserve.
Dr. Nicole D. Bradford is energetic presenter that has overcome several challenges in her life including witnessing domestic violence as a child, workplace labels/limitations, supervising while young, and desiring success and being labeled and disliked by peers, and family members (both in-laws and outlaws).
When we were all young, we had the spark and enthusiasm for life. As we transitioned from our childhood to the adult world we begin to conform and focused more on meeting everyone else's expectations rather than focusing on our own.

"Not your typical road to becoming an author" with Daemon Manx S2 EPS 41
"My road to being an author is not the typical road. I may surprise you with it."
Daemon has been referred to as the ‘Horror with a Heart’ author for his ability to trigger an emotional response in his readers. But what sets Daemon’s writing apart from so many authors is his use of the twist and the way he manages to surprise the readers with plot twists and endings they never see coming.
BIO
Daemon Manx is an award-winning American author who writes horror, science fiction, suspense, fantasy, supernatural, and speculative fiction.
He has recently been nominated for a Splatterpunk award for his debut, Abigail in the best short story category.
In 2021 he received a HAG award for his story The Dead Girl.
He is a member of the Horror Writers Association (HWA) and the Horror Authors Guild (HAG) and has been featured in magazines in both the U.S. and the U.K.
One of his claims to fame occurred in 1991 when Daemon was involved in a motor vehicle accident with Ronald Reagan's motorcade. He accidentally crashed into the former president's limousine on a New York City Street shortly after Ron and Nancy stepped out of the vehicle. No one was injured, except for maybe the pride of the secret service agent who was directing traffic.
Most recently, Daemon has opened his own company, Last Waltz Publishing to market his brand and to help other authors.
Daemon lives with his sister, author Danielle Manx and their narcoleptic cat, Sydney where they patiently prepare for the apocalypse. There is a good chance they will runout of coffee far too soon.

Makeup Tips From Auschwitz with author Tommy Schnurmacher S2 EPS 39
Whose Job is it Exactly to Keep my Mom Happy?
Tommy Schnurmacher’s memoir details the foibles of his tumultuous relationship with his Holocaust survivor Mom who looked like Elizabeth Taylor and sounded like Zsa Zsa Gabor!
BIO
As a writer, Montreal media icon Schnurmacher is an intense force of nature, a seismic swell of visceral empathy, laser-sharp wit and courageous self-analysis.
Now meet Olga. Auschwitz prisoner A-25057, aka Mom, A fearless, dramatic and unpredictable maverick. An original. Exposing the souls of a family for all to see, Make-up Tips from Auschwitz is an addictive page-turner.
Schnurmacher's voice resonates with a lyrical cadence all his own and an unsettling candor reminiscent of humorist David Sedaris and essayist Augusten Burroughs. Like the Oscar-winning film, Life is Beautiful, Schnurmacher revisits the Holocaust with rays of light in the darkness.
“Makeup Tips from Auschwitz. How Vanity Saved my Mother’s Life” is a story of remarkable courage in the face of adversity. It is also a story of one very glamorous mom.
Mordecai Richler and Philip Roth detailed how the melting pot Americanized immigrants. This memoir is the story of a Hungarian refugee family whose chutzpah and moxie allowed it to survive and thrive in a strange new environment.
It is also the story of the rich threads and struggles that bind a unique mother-son relationship.
Meet Olga, Auschwitz prisoner A-25057 , aka Mom. A fearless, dramatic and unpredictable maverick. An original.
Exposing the souls of a family for all to see, Makeup Tips from Auschwitz has an unsettling candor reminiscent of humorist David Sedaris and essayist Augusten Burroughs.
Like the Oscar-winning film, Life is Beautiful, the memoir revisits the Holocaust with rays of light in the darkness.
It is a story of a family’s cultural collision and delightful dysfunction. With the growing pains of Shtisel, the earthiness of The Simpsons and the fierce family loyalty of The Sopranos, these newcomers from Hungary defy authority. They figured out early on that conventional values were not enough. It was their moxie that allowed them to succeed.
Schmooze with the passing parade that includes John Lennon, Elizabeth Taylor and Crystal Nacht. You will laugh out loud as you meet a cast of supporting characters who redefine eccentric: the 50-minute therapist, the psychic rabbi and a superstitious hypochondriac named Paris.
Once you get to know these mutineers from the mainstream, you will want to organize an intervention. Or at least a Passover Seder.
The memoir has been described as poignant, addictive and unpredictable by readers who sampled chapters of it on Facebook.
In addition to the bookstores in Montreal it is available online around the world in soft cover, hard cover and Kindle on Amazon. Also online at Barnes and Noble.
Audiobook read by Tommy Schnurmacher coming soon.

"Corporate wasn't a good fit for me" with author Carrie Carter S2 EPS 38
Carrie's debut book, Whiskers Abroad: Audrey and Ashi's Adventures In Japan is about a globetrotting cat and its owner's journey in the land of the rising sun. You get two perspectives of events, from the cat and the human. All the information and locations in the book are real and can serve as a guidebook.
BIO
Carrie Carter has a profound love for Japan, cats, sumo, dioramas, and eating unusual foods. She has traveled with her husband Jim to Japan fourteen times, so her numerous holidays across her favorite country were the inspiration for her first book, Whiskers Abroad: A Human and A Feline Perspective on Traveling in Japan. Carrie has run multiple marathons including the Tokyo Marathon, and as expected, Carrie and Jim live with an adorable cat named Frenemy, who was unhappy at not being selected as the model for the book.
Carrie lives in Houston, TX, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. At home, she loves to cook, design/create Halloween costumes, and daydream about meeting Jacques Pepin. She dislikes overly dramatic music used in reality TV shows. Currently, Carrie is working on her second book, a sequel to Whiskers Abroad, where Audrey and Ashi explore further into Japan and get themselves into even more interesting predicaments.

How a cancer diagnosis led to the book called The Chemo Club, with Andrea Faye Christians S2 EPS 37
My chat with Andrea covers writing, living in different countries and how a diagnoses of cancer was the start of a new life.
Andrea is currently writing a book with the title Chemo Club and the second book of her Time Binder Series.
"Putting pen to paper, or fingers to the keyboard is something I've been doing for as long as I can remember. I still recall my mother’s “What Now!” expression as a teacher called her to one side at a parent's meeting. I was the child who could have earned air miles for my trips to “the naughty corner” and I can still see the look of astonishment on my mother's face as the teacher revealed page after page of stories written in my five-year-old hand. The writing was on the wall way back then."
BIO
Andrea was born and raised in Swansea, South Wales. Following a successful career in British radio including the BBC, she moved to the southern Mediterranean island of Malta to pursue her dream of becoming a freelance writer.
A decade later she bought a farm in the Madonie mountains of Sicily where a menagerie of rescue animals found their way to her. With a son in Malta and a daughter in Sicily, Andrea has a home and her heart in both places. She now divides her time between the neighboring islands.
Suspension is her debut novel.
She is currently working hard on book 2 of the Time Binder Series as well as a novel entitled Chemo Club.
Book I of the Time Binder Series
An unexpected time travel tale. When Carla Thompson falls asleep and doesn't wake up, she is shocked to discover what destiny has in store for her. Suspended between two worlds, she meets Isambard Brunel, the legendary eighteenth-century civil engineer, who built the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, England, and who now serves as a guardian of its secrets. Historical events intertwine with Carla’s current reality and along the way she discovers a murder, encounters a host of characters including Jamaican psychic, Matilda, and engages in verbal banter with literary legend, Ernest Hemingway. Her adventures lead her to a startling revelation about why she was chosen for her strange new role. In death, Carla realizes she has never felt more alive.
