Demystifying Schizophrenia and Substance Use: The Stigma Ends Here, with Mollie Garnes
Mollie bravely shares her candid story about being diagnosed with schizophrenia. When we were doing research for this show, it was so hard to find people willing to talk openly about it because it is so highly stigmatized. We took on the challenge to demystify this mental health diagnosis, as well as the substance use that often exists with such a serious diagnosis.
Mollie and Kristin have a life's mission to help erase stigmas, and we are starting with this courageous discussion about schizophrenia, substance use and stigma. Mollie is a Psychology student at the University of New Mexico, and came prepared with a vast amount of research to help illustrate the stigmas of schizophrenia and substance use.

LIVE with Coach Kristin: Answering Listener's Questions About the Safety of Kratom and MDMA
I told you to ask me ANYTHING.... and these two listeners took me up on my offer. One asked about the side effects of MDMA, specifically for therapeutic use with a psychotherapist, and the other asked about the safety of Kratom.
I answer both of these questions as thoroughly as possible, in an effort to minimize stigma and shame, while giving valuable and pertinent safety information at the same time.
Let me know if you would like further discussions on these topics, or if you would like to be a guest on the Last Call WIth Kristin podcast.

LIVE with Coach Kristin: The "Let Them" Theory Has Changed My Life
When Kristin heard Mel Robbin's talk about the "Let Them" Theory on a podcast, a lightbulb went off in her head. She has (admittedly) been doing it all wrong in dating, relationships and friendships.
She learned about the "Let Them" theory, applied it to her life, and saw a complete shift in how she shows up in the world, and how less complicated her life became. She realized, she was no longer in charge of teaching and instructing people how to treat her, and she can choose her own behavior accordingly.
Kristin also shares a discussion about belonging, and why belonging is so important to us as humans. How to belong without losing yourself in the process is the topic of the discussion.

Your Breakup Feels Like Addiction Withdrawal... Here's Why
Fresh out of her own romantic breakup, Kristin dives into the research behind why breakups feel like addiction withdrawal. She explains in great detail, the science and psychology behind heartache, and why it is so similar to addiction withdrawal. Giving hope to anyone who has recovered from detox or withdrawal from addictive substances or behaviors, that they can use the same tools to recover from their breakup, is what helped Kristin turn her pain into a life giving purpose.

You or Your Loved One is Suicidal: Here's How to Help
***********TRIGGER WARNING**********
Suicide, suicidal ideation, self-harm, drugs, alcohol
In the wake of our collective grieving over the loss of Stephen "Twitch" Boss, I felt compelled to record this episode about how to help someone who is suicidal. In order to bring you the most complete guideline, I begin the episode by sharing my own experience with suicidal ideation and self-harm at the end of my active addiction, proving that suicidal ideation does not discriminate- it can happen to anyone, even someone who was a volunteer for the Crisis Text Line and the Trevor Project, like I was.
I interviewed Joree Rose, a psychologist and friend, who gave me several tips on how to help your children, students and friends grieve the loss of someone who has died by suicide.
I also interviewed another dear friend, who wishes to remain anonymous, who is a survivor of several suicide attempts. I asked her to tell me what a person who is suicidal truly needs, and her answers were incredibly helpful, courageous and impactful.
Please, please with a cherry on top, share this episode to raise awareness and provide support!!

Uncovering Pain and Trauma With Guest, James Bansbach
Trigger Warning: Sexual assault, trauma, medical procedure
Two worlds collided when I met James in a workshop last year. I was honored when he agreed to record this episode with me- the very first time where I have become the "client" on the show. What you will watch unfold in real-time, no edits, is a session where James guided me through some residual stuck trauma in my life and in my body. It is powerful, riveting, enlightening and inspiring to have hope and the possibility of healing this wound. Which we did, gratefully.
James is a Master Coach, and graduate of Elementum Coaching Institute. His life's purpose is to guide people on a spiritual journey into their heart to uncover the pain and trauma that is holding them back from realizing their deepest gifts to the world and to their relationships.
Working mostly with women with histories of abuse, James creates a soft space for the healing process to unfold softly and at the rate and speed that is perfect for each person.
This is a sample of the guided meditation that I have been using nightly to deepen the healing of my trauma wound, as referenced in the show: https://youtu.be/VtJur7PGUz0

"Mommy Drinks Because You Cry" and Other Lies Big Alcohol Wants You to Believe, With Guest, Cristina
Kristin and Cristina... two moms in an upscale suburban California town that met in a yoga class. Easy to picture, right? The correlation between these two mothers is that both struggled with an addiction to alcohol. From the sidelines of Little League to playdates, their Starbuck's Venti cups were full of Chardonnay, just like a large portion of the other moms in their circles.
In an incredibly transparent and brave conversation, we dissect the messages that we received from alcohol marketing throughout the time we became mothers. Kristin shares how close she was to not being here for her kids, at one point. There are a lot of laughs, some strong emotions, and throughout the entire episode, hard truths about what's really going on with "mommy wine culture" in your little town.
Cristina makes a powerful and honest statement when she exclaims, "Parenting is no joke!" To which, I wholeheartedly agree!

The Gifts of Trauma
Kristin explains how the first time she heard about the "Gifts of Trauma", she was insulted and furious that anyone could insinuate that there is any sort of gift to our trauma. Upon further consideration, she took the time to tease out what her gifts might be, and how she uses them in the important work that she does within the recovery community and with other survivors of abuse. With added insight from two women she admires, Maya Angelou and Brene Brown, she shares what has been a valuable and ultimately healing lesson on what it means to find the gifts of trauma.

Kristin welcomes guest Rob Medsger to the show. Rob is a personal trainer, and the Founder of 3Strong Fitness. Rob holds a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology, he's a Spartan Level 2 Coach, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Rob and Kristin get right into it with a conversation about how to start, especially if the last few years have been more sedentary due to the pandemic. Although, we talk a lot about fitness and health, much of what we discuss can be applied to all areas of your life, growth, and mindset.
