Finally, I go over statistics showing the increase in cardiac conditions recently is NOT from the Covid vaccine, but rather the disease itself. It seems to speed up progression of Heart Disease in people who've been exposed to the full force of the virus before the vaccine.

Speaker McCarthy fulfills his promises of revenge. Republicans in Congress try to defund the IRS, because that was so monumental in them recapturing the House when they were talking about inflation, jobs, and oil prices... Meanwhile, Diamond, from Diamond & Silk right wing fame died from Covid-19. I was hoping she was secretly vaccinated and just grifting, but it turns out she likely believed the conspiracy theories and anti-vaccination stories and it also likely lead to her early death. I'm not making fun, this isn't schadenfreude. I'm hoping it's a cautionary tale to the MAGA community. Finally, Biden has a classified documents issue and the right wing media attacks have already begun it's whataboutism circus over something so monumental most newspapers don't even have it on their front page.

Ep.96: Pivot
Kevin McCarthy is now Speaker McCarthy after several days and many votes. He refused to budge, but he didn't just sit and wait it out. He made deals. One deal almost lead to a full on fist fight on the floor of the House. I think he gave up too much and today will be consequential in his tenure. The clock is ticking. Speaker McCarthy may have to move out of that office soon. He may have over-promised and the "centrist" Republicans may begin a revolt of their own.
And while McCarthy pivoted to kissing Donald Trump's ass almost immediately, I had some whiplash when I heard Marjorie Taylor Greene do some pivoting of her own. Joe Biden was legitimately elected? QAnon was just a phase? Will the Right's base accept this because they just primaried Liz Cheney out of a job for basically saying the same things?

Kevin McCarthy is not a sadist, he's a masochist. A glutton for punishment, Kevin subjected himself to an extra three rounds of getting punched in the dick on live television. The votes never changed. 212 for Jeffries. 201 for McCarthy, 20 for Donalds (the Never Kevin vote) and 1 abstaining. Three votes, same result, no movement.
Last night and this morning, Kevin is pulling out all the stops trying to appeal to the extremes within his own caucus. Amazingly, not once is there a report of him trying to make a deal with the Dems. I think it's telling he is trying to work with crazy rather than the Dems.

20 members of the House Republican Caucus are holding the entire chamber hostage. They seem firmly set in their belief Kevin McCarthy should not be Speaker. I start things off with the tragic news from last night's Monday Night Football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Buffalo Bills as Safety Damar Hamlin was seriously injured on the field resulting in a complete suspension of the game. The NFL still tried to make some money off of it and that pisses me off.
In other news, Kevin McCarthy is trying really hard to be Speaker of the House today but the crazy has taken over the Party and he may not get to be even though he has sold his soul and credibility to get to this point. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Kevin McCarthy is making a list. In reality it's Trump's list, but the Republicans are out in full force to investigate the Democratic Administration. So what do the Democrats do to respond? Merrick Garland just did his best Pontius Pilate impersonation and brought on a Special Prosecutor to go after Trump and anyone else involved in the January 6th Insurrection. Republicans have a history of laughing at Democrats attempts to maintain some semblance of normalcy or tradition. They're all too happy to blow it up when it suits them.

Ep. 89: I Didn't Want To Do This
I wanted to do a deep dive into the basic tactics of McCarthyism after I heard "We have FOURTEEN FBI whistleblowers" (emphasis mine) out of the Jim Jordan Republican announcement of investigations into Hunter Biden. I also wanted to bring up all the Russian conspiracy theory nonsense about Ukraine since Marjorie Taylor Greene decided to make a huge stink about investigating that too.
But no. The internet decided that instead the big story out of yesterday would instead be about Nancy Pelosi stepping down from House Leadership. Further, it decided she should be lionized for her efforts all these years. That's what I took offense to. And by take offense to I mean posting "I don't think she was all that great" and then receiving various replies along the lines of suggesting I am stupid, my opinions are stupid, and other more colorful language.
So yes, the internet put a nickel in and that means this episode is the result of that. Buy a ticket, take the ride as I disassemble Nancy Pelosi's "great achievements" as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Ep. 87: Judge Slowly
Poland hit by Russian missiles?! Iran is set to execute 15,000 protesters!? Stories that needed a day to ferment came out yesterday before being revealed as fakes and mistakes. In the rush to be first in our for-profit media, they make mistakes that patience would solve. Luckily, the international community did not respond to the mistakes, and instead took a more deliberate approach to things.
In other news, Kevin McCarthy is likely to be our next Speaker, but at what cost? He's got about 30 Republicans demanding concessions to make it official. One of them is undoubtedly Greene, or she has already gotten her concession. Concede to the crazy? Or is there another path forward?
Trump announces his 2024 bid. Sure, Fox News talks a big game about supporting DeSantis over him, but the voters decide things, not the news networks. What happens when they change the channel? Fox will come crawling back. How do I know? They did it twice before.
And finally, President Biden takes a question he shouldn't have, then answers the worst way possibly. Abortion is front and center in the final bits of today's episode. Are the Democrats serious about protecting Women's Rights? I'm not sold on it.

In today's episode I address the semi-controversy regarding Brett Favre and ESPN. Is the network providing enough air time to his scandal? Or are they avoiding it because of his whiteness? Michael Vick, Tiger Woods, Jameis Winston, and Ime Udoka are all black men who are or were receiving huge amounts of time dedicated to their scandals. Why isn't Favre getting the same treatment?
Also, a bad faith argument presented as intellectual thought by centrists and the Right about how really, secretly, the Left is JUST as bad as MAGA. Really? I try and explain why this is hogwash (at least as it's presented. I'm open to a real debate on this). You can read the full article here:

Ep. 78: They're Human Beings
Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott, Governors of Texas and Florida decided to make a statement right before the midterms, and their own re-election campaigns, by conducting a little light human trafficking. No big deal. It was for the lulz, after all. How can you tell it's an election year? When Republicans trot out the immigration crisis. It never seems to be an issue in December of an election year though... It just seems to stop being a thing. Will their stunts work? Depends. If you're running for a congressional seat in a district that's mostly filled with rural white voters... probably will help. And they're hoping Christians don't actually pay attention to how they've worked to clothe the naked, or feed the hungry (SPOILER ALERT: they don't do that).
But where are the Democrats on this? What is Speaker Pelosi up to in the Immigration debate? What laws are being proposed? I hold both sides feet to the fire in this one (Yes, one is less bad than the other). Sit back, relax, and get ready for some rage!

Ep. 75: The Slippery Slope Fallacy
Today I open with how men always see the grass as greener on the other side without taking into account all the other variables. We tend to turn an issue from shades of gray into black and white. This is all done, of course, through a Seattle Seahawks - Russell Wilson metaphor.
In the main segment I talk about the Slippery Slope argument and how it's a complete lie. Again, favoring the black and white argument over various shades of gray. And how the end games of anti-abortion and anti-gun advocates differ. While anti-gun would be content getting military grade firearms out of circulation, the anti-abortion movement has struck down Roe vs Wade only to turn their sights on the complete and total domination of women in the United States.
I wish I could cover everything but there's more to this topic than the basic black and white would suggest. This one is atwo-parter!

Ep. 63: Thoughts and Prayers
I'm not trying to be ironic or sarcastic with this title. It isn't some empty slogan or hurtful message. Always, always, always go forward with compassion.
Someone drove their SUV through a Christmas Parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin yesterday. This morning, 5 are dead and over 40 more injured. The numbers will likely change. The ages run from children as young as 4 and as old as 80. We have no motivations. It's unknown if this was a horrific accident, a targeted assassination attempt, or broader terrorism. These people brought their families to see a parade.
So, yes. Unironically, and with complete sincerity, my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.

The Republican Party, Evangelical Churches, and White Supremacy have all joined forces to destroy Democracy at all costs. President Eisenhower coined the term "The Industrial-Military-Complex" when describing an unholy cabal against Democracy in his day. This new version is probably scarier. I've decided to refer to them as The Right Supremacy.
In Washington State House Bill 1411 has been put forth to loosen restrictions on convicted felons being long term care providers. Mostly written to address past felonies like marijuana possession, I discuss how prisons should be about rehabilitation and less about punishment.
Turkey under Authoritarian President Erdogan has villainized all of the Kurdish people and recent events bring tension between the Biden Administration and those racist views.
