holistically political
yes, even wellness is political. on today's episode, we dive into the importance of talking about systemic oppression within the world of wellness, how modern colonialism contributes to the appropriation of ancient healing practices, and some BIPOC creators who have been talking about culturally informed healing within holistic healthcare.

side effects of the soft life

Show Up For Yourself
Hey family! Today's episode is all about choosing yourself! We have all been sooooo busy and focused on getting our lives "back to normal," but through all that, it's important to choose yourself at the end of the day. Today I discuss 4 ways you can choose yourself and hope that you pick one or more of these options to help you relax this weekend! Enjoy!

Talk to Yourself
Hey family! We're back and better with a new post date! Today's episode is all about the importance of self-talk. I discuss how positive self talk is VITAL for inner peace, how to monitor your inner critic, and some measurable results from external talk i.e. talking to yourself. Head over to @latmpod to let me know what you think!

And I Release...For Now
Hey guys! As promised I recorded a bonus episode explaining my hiatus and what my intentions for this break are. Again, I thank y'all so much for coming along with me on this journey this far; and helping me grow bigger than I imagined. Thank you for your listens, donations, and shares, it has meant the world to me. I will be back soon enough! Keep the Family in your thoughts as we break, and make sure you stay safe! I love y'all!

Crazy Shit + Crazy Solutions
Hey, family! I am super excited to finally release this episode today! I interviewed a young woman named Anissa Hyde for New Orleans, La, about her love for conservation, how she's trailblazing for other future Black environmentalists in the South and much more! This has been one of my favorite episodes of the season because I challenged myself as a writer and an editor, but also because I get to share another one of my passions with y'all through this dope interview. Let me know what you think about it @latmpod on Instagram!

Let's Talk About Friends
Hey family! I hope y'all have had a great week so far. Today I wanna talk about the things I learned on my journey to true friendship. Friendships are just as important as romantic relationships or the one you have with yourself. Pour into them + hold your people accountable, and watch your circle thrive.

Parents Are People, Too
Hey, family! I hope y'all are having a great Friday! Today's episode is about how we need to add more context to our parents' lives to truly understand them. They had lives, burdens, and trauma well before you were born. Like I mention in the episode, I do not condone any babd bahavior or abuse from parents to their children, quite the opposite. But I have found that de-centering myself from their actions and parenting choices, has helped me see they have just as much going on as I do (sometimes with half the resources). I hope you get meaningful conversations from this episode. Please let me know what you think!

You Did Great, Big Sis.
Hey, family! I hope y'all had a great week! For today's episode, I talk about three things I think the eldest daughter in a Black household should unlearn to gain her liberation and life back. All older siblings bear the brunt of having to protect their siblings, but there is an added pressure put on young Black girls. I hope y'all enjoy!
My call to action is this:
1. Stop taking on responsibilities that don't belong to you.
2. Stop trying to prevent every little bad thing from happening in life.
3. Stop apologizing when it's not necessary.

Monday Meds: Take a Load Off
I ran a poll on our Instagram (@latmpod) asking if the family was feeling overwhelmed lately and 90% answered yes. Today, I drop some gems about how to listen to those cues that are telling you to take a load off to minimize those overwhelming feelings. I just want you to know that you are not alone, and today's Monday Meds is for you if you feel this way as well. If you enjoy this episode, please let me know in the comments on our Insta. Have a great evening :)

Monday Meds: Self Soothing
Hey, family! I hope y'all are having a great week so far. Today's Monday Meditation is filled with mantras, affirmations, and words of encouragement to keep with you for high stress situations. Whether it's interpersonal conflicts or just a bout of overwhelming emotions, this episode walks you through some helpful ways to regain focus and clarity even in high pressure moments. Head over to @latmpod and let me know what you think or leave a nice review :)

The Art of Allowing
Do you ever get sad when the rain clouds come in or when things really aren't going your way? Maybe it's time to realize that you have less control than you think you do and let go. Today's episode is all about the art of letting things flow around and through you. I want you to take this time to bask in the fullness of life, love on yourself, and allow the rain to pass (bc you probably needed it.) Also, check the mindfulness session at the end. I hope y'all are staying safe out there, love you

Why You Gotta Be So Insecure? :(
Happy Tuesday, family! For today’s episode, I'm gonna give y'all a lil Get It How You Live Monday remix. U Ain't F*ckin' Wit Dat House!
Today's Get It How You Live Monday is all about our houses, siblings! I was chatting with @mccaalaolivia about life a few weeks? ago, and she mentioned this "house" analogy in reference to our personal lives/spaces, and I thought it would be dope to expand on the good sister's words for a bit. Whip out those journals and let's get into these houses, babes (no HGTV).

Where Nostalgia Meets History
Hello, family! Today's episode is all about Black women who archive Black culture from the 90s and the early 00s in particular, their impact on pop culture in the digital age, and how these dope content curators really are just digital historians. I hope you guys learn a little from this topic, as always let me know what you think!

Protect Black Girls Before They're Black Women Pt. 2
Part two is a continuation of this very important conversation surrounding Black girls, and how we should be showing up for them. There's so much to tackle with this, so y'all let me know if I should revisit this topic on Instagram live or on another Y'all Feel Me Sunday. I love and appreciate y'all!

Protect Black Girls Before They're Black Women Pt. 1
Today's Y'all Feel Me episode is sort of a late-night edition, but I wanted to talk about how we can only truly #ProtectBlackWomen if we #ProtectBlackGirls first. Many young Black girls experience traumatic times during elementary and middle school, so I asked a few of my followers + friends to talk to me about their experiences during these times. This commentary is about reconciling those stories, exposing topics that Black girls have to face at a young age, and all things in between. Please let me know how you feel about this episode, and how you can protect Black women to the fullest extent in your personal life.
